Gus Dean's Ice Cream

I first tasted Gus Dean’s when they were outside of Rollin’ Smoke’s BBQ-Downtown Las Vegas. My husband and I fell in love with the butter pecan ice cream. It was so creamy and delicious. We would drive 20 mins. just to satisfy our sweet tooth craving! Then, one day we went and they were gone😩 It was a while before someone in the strip mall told us they moved to the Venetian Hotel and Casino. Of course, we were happy to know that we could still get our favorite ice cream, but then they closed down that location, as well😩 So today, I was telling a friend about it and was curious if they had opened up another location and what do you know, they have a location in the Meadows Mall, per my google search. We will be making a trip over there this weekend to find out if in deed it’s true! Keeping our fingers crossed because we will be patronizing and getting our fix often!!!

Great customer service and they let me try different samples! There aren't too many flavors to choose from, just basic ones but they are all pretty good - definitely creamy although a little too sweet to my taste.

If there's one weakness I have, it's probably ice cream because it's the cherry on top! Gus Dean's ice cream is solely made in Las Vegas. There's actually 3 locations. This one is at The Venetian in the Grand Canal Shoppes Food Court. It's on the same second floor level as Halo Halo Filipino Kitchen. I was curious about their offerings and saw interesting flavors like Rebel Red, Very Cherry Chocolate, and Butter Almond. There were at least 11 flavors I saw on display. It was nice to sample each one. The pistachio, strawberry, cookies and cream were all good! Each one has a delightful taste and it's so perfectly creamy and not too sweet, you'd be surprise that this kind of ice cream feels like a big hug and is very comforting! Price is a little steep for one scoop cup but for $1 more, I decided to go for two ($7.50). I opted for Coffee and Very Cherry Chocolate. Both flavors are light and yummy, also they give a generous serving! One thing I discovered is they're now offering spiked ice cream where it's handcrafted sorbet filled with booze! There's Pina Colada, Bourbon Berry, and Strawberry Margarita. These flavors I wasn't able to sample, but I now have a good reason to come back!

While exploring the Venetian , I needed a snack to cool down after being outside in the heat. I got two scoops - vanilla and cookies and cream. Most places give you a small scoop of ice cream but these were substantial scoops of ice cream that definitely hit the spot. Both flavors were delicious though the vanilla was my favorite.

Ordered a milkshake with chocolate and cookies and cream scoop. The milk shake lacked favor and you could not taste the chocolate. Hope they consider stronger chocolate flavors in the future

My favorite ice cream place at the Venetian. I work inside the Venetian and we love trying out the different gelato places too but this one is the BEST. The Rebel Red is my favorite!

So suprised why there are not many yelp reviews for this place. I have had alot of top quality icecream.. McConnells, Hagen Daz and Fosselman'ss iceream but when I my husband and I took our first spoon of Gus' in our mouths...an explosion of flavor...WOW!!! WOW!! THIS is our all time favorite. Had salted caramel..loved that it had bits of caramel in it. Rebel Red..strawberry icream with oreos. You can taste the fresh strawberries. Butter almond...such rich creamy flavor with perfect size bits of almond. At first, we decided on 2 scoops for hubby and I to share. Last minute, hubby decides to add extra scoop and asks for the flight for $7.95. The scoops were big! I was expecting the scoops to be sized like 31 flavors but nope..these were double scoops = 1 scoop. Love it even more. Great deal. Excellent quality. Friendly service. This should be a "must go " place on everyone's list when visiting Vegas. I know for sure it will be on ours as we are heading back in Sept and already placed it on my calendar.
