Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken

Had one of the best catering experiences I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing with Chef Gordon and his team with Gus' last weekend! From the minute Chef Gordon got on the phone with me to discuss the corporate luncheon I was planning, the experience was so pleasant! Gordon is polite, professional and really cares about both his customers and the food he's serving them. And the food, omg!! I thought Chef Gordon was just joking when he told me that Gus' chicken comes with a warning label- "That you'll be hooked." But it was no joke, that really was some of the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life. Super crispy, just the right amount of spicy, and super juicy. We also had the baked beans and the mac and those were killer too, especially the beans! Everyone at the luncheon raved about how good the food was and I'm so grateful for Gordon and his team for delivering such an awesome experience

I love spicy fried chicken and Gus's was just right. Casual chicken joint in downtown Detroit. I really liked the chicken and lemonade.

Restaurant was nice and clean . Order the 3 piece dinner . Potato salad was excellent. The season fries were amazing. Baked beans was good. The chicken was amazing. The Mac and cheese could’ve stayed in the kitchen , wasn’t good but other than that good good food . Definitely will be back again when i visit Detroit.

We placed an order attached 830 and they close at 9. Unfortunately the day that we went in they were extremely short staffed and orders were taking very long. We ended up being the last order that took almost an hour but the staff was extremely apologetic and even threw in extra fries and okra for us. The food was really good too. Would visit again. Parking can be difficult to find around this area.

Great food, when we finally got it. Cook time was a little slow, but our server brought us some fried pickle spears for the wait. The pickle spears are almost worth coming here alone! Also had some fried okra...very good!

My chicken epically thigh was dried out potato salad was super tangy , baked beans taste like can . I gave them a 3 because I want to try them again , just because I’ve heard so much about them . Super sad about this it just wasn’t good at all . The ranch is good though .

Was in Detroit for a funeral and decided to check out the World Famous Gus's Hot & Spicy Chicken 🔥 🐔 😋 . Walked in on a Monday afternoon, which was not busy at all. Was immediately welcomed and greeted with a smile 😃. They asked if we were dining in and told us to sear ourselves. Immediately was a greeter came over and gave us menus and drinks. Once food was ordered, it came out surprisingly fast, hot, great... no complaints. Chicken was crispy, juicy, and seasoned to perfection 🥰 💞 👌 Can not say anything but wonderful things about Gus's!!!! If you’re EVER in Detroit, it is a must !!

I had Gus's chicken in Memphis TN about a week prior to coming to this location. I was hoping everything was the same...it pretty much was. The chicken and fried green tomatoes were on point. Just like they were in Memphis. I did not have greens, baked beans, Mac or coleslaw in Memphis but I did try them at this location. I would not order any of those again. The greens were very salty and tasted like they were cooked in Chicken broth. The Mac was not good, definitely a frozen product. Could have been better with a little seasoning. The baked beans tasted straight from a can. They almost gave a pork n bean flavor...not good. If you like coleslaw that is not sweet you will like this one. It also wasn't cold enough for me but I didn't even ask for it. It came on my plate by mistake. In Memphis the fried okra and French fries were really good. Next time I go for chicken I will stick to the fried sides. Service was good. There was one server but it wasn't crowded so it was fine. Would definitely recommend for some really good fried chicken.
