Yelp
My name is Crystal, and I recently dined at your establishment on Saturday, May 3, 2025, with my husband. We were excited to visit, as my daughter and I had previously enjoyed our experience at your restaurant, and this was my husband's first time. We usually frequent the Washington location, which we love.
Upon arrival, we initially considered ordering to-go but decided to dine in to fully enjoy the experience. We were greeted by a young man named Eligh, who was courteous and attentive. We ordered a 12-piece extra crispy chicken, a large mac and cheese, a large okra, a large green, two beers, and two waters.
Once we received our food, I'm assuming the manger came from the kitchen, who was wearing sunglasses indoors, began conversing with the new trainee and our waiter, Eligh. His manner of speaking was authoritative and somewhat overbearing, which I found quite distracting and unpleasant. I mentioned to my husband that I wished he would conduct his conversations in the back, as it was affecting our dining experience.
When our food arrived, we noticed that our legs and wings were not as crispy as we had requested. I asked Eligh if they could be fried a bit longer. He went to speak with the gentleman in the kitchen, who I assume is the manager. I overheard the manager instructing Eligh to inform us that the chicken was prepared according to their standards and in his words that's just the way y'all do things.
Eligh returned and relayed the manager's message, but I interrupted him and requested our check. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the manager's approach, and I told my waiter you all might have to listen to him talk crazy, but I don't, as he could have personally conveyed the information to us, considering the food had already been served. I would have been willing to order another 12-piece to ensure it met our expectations.
I was hesitant to send this email, but I believe it is important to address this issue. I do not want a self-absorbed manager to ruin what has been a happy place for us. Your restaurant's motto is to bring people together, one piece of chicken at a time, and to ensure customer satisfaction. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and make the necessary adjustments to uphold your commitment to excellent service.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Crystal P
