"Gustazo is a Cuban restaurant that started in Belmont, moved to Waltham, and then opened a second location a few blocks from the Porter Square T stop. It’s doing the empty-nester style reverse migration, moving back to the city from the suburbs after the kids have been safely shipped off to a liberal arts school out of state. And, like those empty-nesters who suddenly start spending a little more on haircuts and do date night at the movies for the first time since seeing Titanic , it’s having a lot of fun. Granted, empty-nester fun is a little different than twenty-something fun. Twenty-something fun means late nights at bars, convincing your parents to do your taxes for you, and the occasional misdemeanor. Empty-nester fun means cheese-making classes and Pops concerts in Franklin Park. Likewise, Gustazo is not a place where you’re coming to rage. This is grown-up fun - the kind that comes with interesting cocktails, a dining room that looks like an ad for Cuban tourism come to life, and, most importantly, really good small plates that you’ll always want to order just one more of. Considering that it’s surrounded by gas stations and banks on a relatively quiet stretch of Mass Ave, Gustazo surprises you as soon as you get here and find that it’s packed. Almost the entire spectrum of Cambridge stereotypes will cycle through the doors on any given night, starting with people who look like they published one big children’s book in 1987, and going all the way through Harvard MBA students who close the place down later on. It can be hard to get a day-of reservation, but the high-top tables underneath the neo-gothic chandeliers in the bar are reserved for walk-ins, and they’re a perfectly fine place to split guava-glazed ribs. On the weekends, a cocktail den in the basement opens up, and you can get the full menu down there. There are a few big dishes on the menu, like the roast pork, that are very good. We can see ourselves trying but failing to pull them off at our own dinner parties. But the small plates are the reason you won’t mind getting off at a T station that was seemingly built in Earth’s inner core to come here. Some of them are things you barely see anywhere else (like the jibartio, a sandwich that swaps out bread for fried plantains), while others are things you see everywhere but which are just done really well, like the octopus that’s poached in olive oil. Either way, the dishes here are characterized by lots of different ingredients coming together to make some of the best food in a square that’s otherwise defined by a strip mall and a giant parking lot. Keep Gustazo in mind the next time you have something to celebrate and want to bring people together. Between the food, cocktails created by the team from one of and a giant light-up sculpture of the island of Cuba made from rum bottles, it’s a place where you’ll reliably have fun - even without a single attempted misdemeanor." - Dan Secatore

Finally got to try this place on moody st. In Waltham. The tapas/small plates were excellent. I had the swordfish tacos and shared the yucca fries and corn fritters. All delicious with lots of flavor. The churros for dessert was a highly, yummy with chocolate and dulce de leche sauces for dipping. The sangria of the day was really good as well. I would definitely go back.

We love Gustazo! After years of enjoying the Cambridge location, we finally tried the Waltham spot. The food was excellent. We had 5 small plates, including the halibut stuffed peppers, the mahimahi tacos, the corn fritters, and the shitake mushroom croquettes. All of them were delicious and presented beautifully. My husband had the pork large plate and the pork was unbelievably tender and the portion was huge. I enjoyed the guava blossom cocktail. There were four of us for the meal and we split two desserts. I think the key lime pie is my favorite. Like their spot in Cambridge, this location also has bright decor with posters for Cuban films covering the walls. The staff was veey friendly.

The food taste very good, I like it, very nice. Service is great as well. But I don’t understand why there is a Kitchen appreciation fee and it is 4%, no one explain that to us.

Garrus Mandolin

Google
What is a kitchen appreciation fee? I never saw the kitchen to say it’s worth appreciating so that’s is a bs charge on your bill. I appreciate the parking way more than the kitchen. Sub service team was on the floor more than the main servers. Food’s decent. Drinks are good.

Google
Have been here a couple of times and the tapas are really good. Thoughtfully executed menu with flavors of the Caribbean in a beautiful setting. Definitely worth the trip to Waltham.

Google
One of many great restaurants on Moody St. Specialized in Cuban style tapas dishes, great to order small dishes and share. Yuca fries was good. Fried well, crispy exterior with soft buttery interior. Steak was also very good, well made with delicious refreshing chimichurri. Chicharrones was also very good, as it should be. Service was great and no issues. Personally think the food could be better in terms of flavor. Everything seems a bit...mono-toned.

Google
The food tasted great! The interior was a little bit dark for me but being seated next to the window was nice. For the price of the food, it was a little bit concerning to see a 4% appreciation charge for kitchen staff on the bill… however i didn’t mind too much as the food was good. The flavors were well balanced. I enjoyed the camarones a la plancha and the flan the most.

Loved Gustazo’s. Good food and good service Exterior/Parking: Their front entry is covered by scaffolding so you have to use their side entrance. I’d say street parking is minimal/non existent however there is a huge garage/parking area behind the restaurant not too far from the side entrance. Was a little hard to find but no too bad Interior: We were greeted at the front desk, the host/server was kind and showed us too our table. The booth they initially sat us at was cramped and looked a little dingy so we asked to sit at a center table. It was a little tight as we were close to the tables next to us but much better than the booth. This is why I have atmosphere a 4/5. The vibes of the restaurant were nice and it is huge inside. There were a lot of different seating options. Drinks: I ordered 2 cocktails, both came balanced and delicious. I will definitely be back for more. They are a little pricy for my taste but made well Food: Delicious!!! We initially ordered their smaller plates and the Ropa Vieja. The tapas were great and a size that you’d expect. The bacon wrapped plantain were really good. We were disappointed initially because we intended to split the Ropa Vieja as it was listed as a larger sized plate however when it came it was small enough for one person to eat as a main. However, some of my family at the table ordered the slow roasted pork and their chicken plate and they were very large. After seeing how big those plates were, we ordered those plates as well. Definitely recommend the slow roasted pork, the chicken plate or fish of the day. Since this outing we’ve ordered takeout from them and everything came neatly wrapped and separated in a manner that lended well to transporting back home. Service: Our server was amazing. He was kind and attentive. He made our experience! Will be back again!!!!

Yelp
Everything was amazing! You can do no wrong with their menu, everything we got was so flavorful and delicious. We got the yuca fries, ropa vieja, lamp chops, croquettes, seafood salad, cauliflower, and garlic shrimp. I think my favorites were the lamp chops, croquettes and garlic shrimp, which all were just bursting with flavor. The drinks here are good as well, and the dessert is apparently delicious because they had sold out, and I'm definitely looking forward to the next time we go to try. Overall, great experience and a fun vibe. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
A lot of things here, especially the salads, were way too salty and took me out of the experience. I understand adding salt to enhance the flavor and most of the dishes were way overdone with salt. Here are my full ratings: - [ ] Ribeye: 7/10 - [ ] Cauliflower: 9/10 - [ ] Yuca fries: 6/10 (too thick for me) - [ ] Beef empanadas: 6/10 (too salty) - [ ] Lamb chops: 7/10 (chops good; salad too salty) - [ ] Seafood Del Mar: 4/10 (too salty) - [ ] Chicarrones (pork belly): 5/10 (pork belly cooked well, but again too salty)

Yelp
Gustazo Cuban is a fantastic tapas restaurant in the greater Boston area. The ham croquettes were great. I usually love them at every tapas restaurant that has them on the menu, and this was no different. The queso frito was delicious as well. I loved the assortment of toppings. The tangerines and candied walnuts were great additions to the dish. The beef empanadas were definitely my favorite thing we ordered. The dough was perfectly baked and the dipping sauce had just the right amount of tang. I didn't have any of the lamb chops, but my dad absolutely loved them. The Cuban margarita was amazing!! It had more spice than it did sugar, which I really appreciate in a margarita. Also, the tequila used was infused with jalepeno and habanero! I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area!!

Yelp
I came here for my birthday dinner after seeing it on Yelp and wanting to try. It was easy to make a reservation. Pretty busy for a Wednesday night. Great ambiance, beautiful decor. Service was amazing. Our waitress Lila was so friendly and did an amazing job. Everything we got was great but my favorites were the pork belly tamal and bacon wrapped plantains. My mom said the yucca fritters were the best she's ever had. They even brought out a tres leches with a candle in it which was soo sweet and the nicest ending to the meal. I would absolutely recommend coming here if you haven't already.

Yelp
Excellent prep, service, taste, ambience...Fun place to dine with friends and family. I've been to Cuba many times. Sadly, the Cuban recipes and chef training are GREAT but the country lacks supplies and resources. Gustazo is also community oriented. They helped me with a fund-raiser years ago.

Yelp
Great large restaurant w a small personal feel. Tapas + large plates. Bar & 2 dining rooms + nooks here & there. Fernando was an excellent server ~ informed, helpful, attentive appropriately. Delicious food. Good wine (including half bottles!) & the Spanish-style hot chocolate was heavenly! Thick, bitter & sweet. Lovely end to a good gustatory experience! Near the train station & Embassy Theater too.

Yelp
Puerco Asado (7/10): Huge dish. Tons of meat, very filling. Great bang for your buck. Meat is slightly on the dry side, but still decently tender. I would only order this if you have a large party, though. You really want to try all of the different tapas here! I've ranked the tapas from favorite to least favorite below: Yuca Frita (10/10): These are so freaking delicious, wow. The cilantro aioli was an amazing dipping sauce. They really are fried to perfection. Frituras de Maiz: (10/10): Wow, these fritters are also amazing. They come with such a rich sauce. The fritters are exploding with flavor. Chicharrones (9.5/10): Melt in your mouth pork belly. The pork skin crust was perfect. The sauces really make most of the dishes here. This dish is no different - I loved the sauce. Empanada del Carne (9/10): Oh man, the crusts are so good. This is pretty on par with the ones I just had in Puerto Rico. Chuletas de Cordero (8/10): The seasoning is heavenly. I was licking the lamb chops clean. Costillas a la Guayaba (7.5/10): Really nicely marinated, and the rib meat is so tender that it almost falls off the bone. Maduros con Tocino (7/10): This dish was pretty good, but got overshadowed by the other ones. Camarones a la Plancha (7/10): Solid dish, but I enjoyed some other ones even more. Ensalada de Aguacate y Pina (6/10): The salad was a bit too sour, and that sourness overpowered the dish. It was a great blend of ingredients, though. *** and one dessert *** Churros con Chocolate (9/10): Big crunchy fluffy churros!! The chocolate sauce is amazing (not really spicy at all). You have to get this for dessert!! *** Service can be a little slow, even when the dinner rush is dying down. Ambiance is great - lots of seating, both indoor and out door.

Yelp
A friend suggested this place for dinner before an event we went to in Waltham. The food here was very delicious. We went with the tapas style and ordered several small plates. They also have large plate options. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The space is really big, so likely not too much to get a reservation. Our server was nice and able to answer questions about the menu items. Will certainly go back and try some more things on the menu.

John D.

Yelp
We usually don't go out much, but when we do... We go to the other Tapas place uphill on Moody (because that's where all our friends go before dancing next door!) This time we decided to try a different Tapas place, and we weren't disappointed. Portion sizes were great. Our server was engaging and helpful. The drinks were varied and interesting. We'd definitely give this place another try since there are so many other small plates and drinks we have to still try out! FYI, I wish restaurants were upfront about it, but they do charge a "kitchen appreciation fee". I really don't "appreciate" hidden fees!

Blair B.

Yelp
Usually love this place not sure if they have all new staff/chef. Cocktail sub par as well as food. Service super slow which I am usually ok with but bar wasn't even busy.

John P.

Yelp
Service was great, good strong drinks and tapas was fantastic. I will be back! Ambiance was very good but a little noisy. Had to listen intently for conversation

Yelp
We came to Gustazo for dinner this past week, and I'm glad we did! It was a last-minute choice to come and there were no available reservations, but we found space at the bar. When you walk into the space, there's a nice dining room with closely packed tables and a front bar. If you head on toward the back, there is another dining room with another bar--we chose the front bar as it was a bit quieter. On the wall in the front dining room, there's a cool art piece of Cuba. Our server/bartender was friendly and gave us menus right away. We had the yuca frita, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and I had the ropa vieja as my entree, for which the beef was tender. Everything in the dish went together quite well, and I was happy to see that the beef was more flavorful than some other local places that serve ropa vieja. I ordered the Cuban Cigar cocktail (after consulting with the bartender to see if it was Scotch-forward, which it wasn't). It was a complex, enjoyable cocktail that had much more rum flavor than scotch--this one's definitely a sipper. Gustazo is great to have on Moody Street, and I'll have to try the Cambridge location next!

Jaimie F.

Yelp
Really delicious meals and drinks! Perfect date night location, with an awesome vibe and great service. Some of the food was a bit saltier than I would typically enjoy and the menu is pricy, but overall I would highly recommend giving it a try!

Deb W.

Yelp
I've been here on two separate occasions and both times were delicious. The restaurant itself is huge with lots of seating. They used to offer outdoor seating during the summer time which was really nice. I'm not sure if that's available anymore. However, the ambiance inside the restaurant is great for a nice dinner out. We were a table of 3 and we ordered 6 small plates. For a few of the dishes ordered, typically their are only 2 pieces but the waiter offered to bring 3 so all of us could have a piece. I loved that they offered that so we didn't have to worry about splitting the food equally. We ended up adding in an extra taco and empanada so that each one of us could have one. The flavors of all the dishes were excellent! We ordered the queso fresco, mussels, croquettes, ribs, short rib taco and empanadas. I would recommend all of them!

Bea T.

Yelp
Really love the food. The ambiance is really Cuban cool. I honestly came here reading the reviews of fellow yelpers so sure enough they weren't wrong. When we arrived we were seated but our server was nowhere to be found until I actually grabbed the GM who was very gracious enough to take care of us. So with that said it doesn't get a perfect five but if we were looked after it would have been well over five stars.. Amazing lamb chops chicharrino's, porkribs, shrimp and tres leches. You must come here!!!

Cynthia N.

Yelp
This is a long overdue review. When I tell you how I was so excited to actually try Gustazo's because every person I knew had been hyping it up for the Cuban food, I was actually so disappointed! First and foremost, I had reservations set prior to dining in. When I got to the restaurant, there were no other customers standing by the host stand. We got sat fairly quickly and it did not look like a busy night at all, especially considering we sat in an empty section in the back. What set me off was our server Lila M's attitude and her low attention for service. I was so upset because she paid us no attention to be served. We needed to ask questions about the menu and she made us feel like we were dumb for asking questions when it was our first time dining in. To top it off, she did not check up on us at all, assuming we didn't need anything. The people who helped the most were actually the food runners and host that night, and that wasn't their job. Our host actually was the one who took our order too! What was also upsetting was we saw our food get taken to a different party's table and they just brought it over to our table afterward. Our food was so cold, and you can actually see that with the fat of the Costillas a La Guayba... We addressed our concerns to our server Lila and she rolled her eyes at us. I don't think I'm a needy customer at all, especially because I was not expecting something to be discounted or lowered on our bill. We just seriously wanted better service and hot food! Like I mentioned at the beginning of this, I was really excited to try this place but left absolutely upset & disappointed.

John P.

Yelp
Varied menu with many options. If you're looking for something a little different, I highly recommend Gustazo. The service is attentive and helped my wife avoid her food allergy. The decor is very cool and the restaurant has good energy without being too loud.

Mindi A.

Yelp
We enjoyed our dinner here. The plates are quite small and you need to order a lot of them to fill up. We had a reservation and we were sat on time.

Rozzie M.

Yelp
Looked at the menu online and thought it looked interesting. Waiter was friendly but food did not meet our expectations. Everything came out of the kitchen lukewarm and salty. Aside from salt, flavors were muted. Won't rush back. Solid meh.

Yelp
From Best to Worst: Stay Away! Gustazo's in Waltham was always worth the 7-mile trek to get the best Cubano sandwich anywhere in the Boston area, and we made that trek multiple times a year. As recently as January, it was the same old great Cubano: 8 inches long, full of plenty of all the ingredients, making it an unctuous, delicious, and immensely satisfying experience. No longer. Yesterday, we went again, and what did we find when we got our sandwiches home: 6 inches long and less than half as much filling, making is a dry, much less tasty, very pour cousin of what it used to be. 25% smaller, more than 50% less filling. And to top it off, since January they increased the price from $14 to $16 for the sandwich, so 2 sandwiches plus tax and fees and minimum 18% tip you are pressured into adding in the online take-out order checkout cost $42 and a few cents. What a crime! What a ripoff! Never again.

Brittany M.

Yelp
This is the first Tapas-focused menu restaurant I've been to in many years. My reluctance is usually the feeling that I will spend a lot of money and not feel satisfied/full. Tapas seem to be very popular in Newton and this menu was hard to resist so while in the area, a co-worker and I decided to try it out! We were not disappointed. The staff was friendly and not at all over bearing. We had several people deliver our small plates and everyone was great. The timing of the dishes coming to our table was perfect. The food... so flavorful! We ordered the empanadas, Chicharrones, croquetas de Jamon, & maduros con Tocino. We agreed our favorite was the Maduros con Tocino- they were a perfect amalgamation of flavors; sweet, tangy, savory, salty- yum!!! Everything was so good, my only feedback would be for the Chicharrones- they were paired with an avocado purée which was tasty, but I wish they would have cut the fat with an acid to give it more dimension, rather than have two fats together. We also ordered the congri to enjoy with everything. All in all it was a wonderful experience. The restaurant was loud but we could hear each other fine and we really enjoyed the art and flair of the decor, especially the columns that look like lit cigars!!

Robert U.

Yelp
Ehh it was ok. I remember the food being much much better. Ambiance was fun, service was nice but the food was just ok which was a disappointment given what I was expecting.

Tatiana D.

Yelp
Hadn't been back to this restaurant in over 2 years and the menu has been significantly cut with many of my favorites removed. The entrée options were very limited and my go to roasted pork was dry & saltly. The Tapas menu was also reduced and unremarkable. Aside from the black beans and mojitos it didn't taste or feel like a Cuban restaurant at all. I was incredibly disappointed, as were the other 3 ppl in my party. They've also added of 4% kitchen appreciation fee and tip calculations based on the extra charge, which I think is in poor taste. This used to be one of the best Cuban restaurants in the area but I wont be making another trip back, sorry. ~ A local Cuban

Yelp
We stopped in on a Friday night to try this spot and it was a fantastic find! We had a reservation for 6:15 and it was pretty busy here. Our waiter Fernando, was pretty busy, but he did come by in the first 5 minutes to grab our drink orders and some tapas. We put in 6 appetizers to share acrosss 4 of us. The food was pretty great, but our drinks were loving exceptionally slow. We actually got our drinks after 4 of our appetizers hit the table already. We tried a number of things and our favorite was the Tacos Cangrejo and the Queso Frito! We also loved the Churros for dessert! The restaraunt is really cute and has a ton of cute decorations to throw this spot back to a little Rustic Havana vibes. We really loved it, but the music was still a little loud, so we did feel like we were screaming. But by the end of the night two of us had started to feel the strain! Definitely a fun spot and we highly recommend!

Yelp
This is super impressive stuff. Started with the remoulacha which had beets, queso fresco, tarragon hazelnut pesto, yogurt, kumquats, watercress. The beets were really fresh, as was the queso fresco. I wished the pesto were more plentiful in order that the hazelnut flavor emerge more prominently. The squash fritters were so nice and soft; they came with kale, pomegranate, creme fraiche, kale, and sage. The sage was nice and crisp, the creme fresh added a contrasting texture to the rest of the dish, and overall each bite was quite rich, but fulfilling. The gulf wild shrimp with Cuban polenta was very rich and very delicious. I really appreciate it the meatiness of the shrimp, ensconced in a delicious polenta. Some might find the polenta a bit too rich, too much butter, but it's a really nice dish. I actually might have liked a little bit more polenta to give the dish more bandwidth. The guava based baby back ribs were so good they were tender and fell off the bone easily, yet they remained on the bone at the cusp of falling out. The glaze as was excellent, as were the pickled beets and pineapple puree. I appreciated that the pineapple puree wasn't too sweet. Finally, the crab tacos enchiladas were really delicious, they included slaw, Watercress and avocado. The plantain taco shells we're really interesting thicker than ordinary corn taco shells. I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the menu, and you should too!

Anasaria S.

Yelp
The food was hot and fresh, and our server was wonderful. I had a stuffed potato ball. In Spanish, it sounds better. But it's ground beef, and then they roll potatoes. Of course, they make a sort of a dough ball, and they deep fry it. Fabulous , I also a capuchia. Rice

D C.

Yelp
The tapas were all great. Staff was attentive. We had a large group but they were able to find us space. It's a bit pricey for the portion size.

Jamie D.

Yelp
I've tried almost everything on the menu and never disappointed. The guava mojito and gin cocktails are to die for! Love the maduros here. The waiters are always quick to bring the plates and the staff is always helpful. Love the Havana vibes.

Rupa S.

Yelp
The staff was nice and friendly. They are a little under staffed because there was only one bartender serving lots of people dining at the bar. He was doing great though. We tried almost all of their vegetarian options in small and big plates. I loved their yuca fritas and mushroom croquettes. Empanadas was slightly sour don't know why but overall ok.

Elle B.

Yelp
We stopped here while heading home from an event. The traffic can be a bit of an annoyance but at least we found public parking right behind the restaurant. The restaurant was busy but we were seated promptly at our arrival. There is a front and back of the restaurant. The back seems more where family with children are seated. The bathrooms are in between the sections just after walking past the bar area. The atmosphere is very social with nice decorations to go with the restaurant theme. The pillars are wrapped like cigars which is cute. Seating feels a little tight but workable. The dining room would be more comfortable if there was secondary door to keep the chilly winds from blasting through each time someone opened the doors. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive even though we can see she was quite busy. I think they could use a little more wait staff. As for the food it was good but can use some work. The chicharrones were very rich where I felt it needed to be smeared on some toast or just fried to a crisp. The beef empanada was OK. It could use more spices. It was a bit bland. The star of the show during our dinner was actually the mussels with chorizo. We couldn't get enough of it. We'd definitely order this again. The drinks were all made well too. My coconut mojito was tasty and refreshing. Overall it's a hip place to hang out with good company. Also something to note is they add a kitchen appreciation fee is 4% of your tab.

Eric B.

Yelp
This establishment is a great place and we are thrilled they moved to Moody Str, where we can more easily enjoy them. They are busy and short-staffed post-pandemic, but they appear to only hire quality people. The staff is very competent and are fast at getting you what you have ordered or need. They is also very nice and kind. The food is authentic and is a chef's take on their native cuisine. I have had Cuban a couple of times before, including a friend's mom cooking. I'm not an expert on this cuisine, but it certainly is really good tapas-style food. We had some of the empanadas - wow, FRITURA DE MAÍZ (corn fritter) great take on such a ubiquitous item, and ENSALADA DE LECHUGA. The salad was exotic in its flavor profile is done to perfection. We have had the CHOCOLATE CUBAN CIGAR for dessert twice now, once we came just for dessert. I haven't tasted something so simply delicious for dessert for years.. They have a full bar; try some of the Cuban rums. I did, and I learned a lot. The beer selections are excellent, including local microbrews and more exotic beers. The wine selection is high-class. You can have fun exploring their wine list. Hey, I did;t even crave a little umbrella in my drink. The ambiance is romantic, with a couple of little corners. We were here to celebrate and got a nice little corner in the back dining room. They have two main dining areas, each with a bar, though only one was open for our visits. They even have another small party room I saw. Lots of wrought iron to interest the eye and wall deco that catch the eye. Hey, it's a class joint! Somehow the notice levels are bad. Now, the stuff they need to work on, we were here on a Saturday, and the bar was understaffed. We made the mistake of putting out drinks orders in without the first wave of food, against the advice of our waitress. Our bad; the wine and my beer came out after some of the food had arrived. I scoped out the bar, and they need either another bartender or at least a couple of barbacks. Or second round took a while, and a bar runner finally brought out the drinks. The kitchen was rocking because tapas-style dishes flew out at us. So take your time, order drinks quickly, and then your first course. Still so worth a 5-star rating. Reservations recommended, I would say, required, even though the bar was loaded. Would I come here again? In a heartbeat, we might skip desserts in other places to come and have the CHOCOLATE CUBAN CIGAR here. Maybe a little nip of Cuban rum to bolster me against the menace of a New England winter

Stephanie N.

Yelp
Love this place, has now shot up to one of our top go-to spots. Favorites include the Jibarito, Maduros, and Empanadas. Also really enjoyed but secondary to the above, personally: Pulpo, Croquetas (though he loved them), Chicaronnes, Lamb chops The flan was the one thing I did not particularly care for. Friendly & attentive service! Great vibe.

What a great place for tapas! The Corn (Mais) fritters were amazing! As were the Yucca fries, Beet salad and Cazuela of Cauliflower. Classic Margaritas were delicious. A somewhat loud but vibrant atmosphere. Will definitely return!

Yelp
Harry is the best bartender! Extremely nice but even more attentive and always making sure you have everything you need!

Yelp
This easily is one of my newest favorite Tapas restaurants! When I first went here, I asked the waitress for recommendations and she said "everything on the menu is good!" Now that I've been here a few times, I have to say that I agree. The few times I've gone here were for dinner. They're generally pretty busy (even on weekdays), so I recommend making a reservation! Regardless of busy they are, the service has always been great. My favorite dishes (that I've had so far!) are the Fritura de Maíz, Yuca Fritas, Croquetas de Jamón, and the Tres Leches Cake. The Fritura de Maíz has this delicious goat cheese mousse that pairs really well with the crispy corn fritter, brown butter honey, and pesto. I'm not the biggest fan of pesto, but Gustazo's pesto made me change my mind. My friends and I also LOVE the Yuca Fritas; not only is the aioli super tasty, but the yuca fries are truffled, making this dish super flavorful and yummy. The Croquetas de Jamón were really good as well. The dish came out very crispy on the outside, and soft and hot on the inside. I wish the croquetas themselves were a little bit bigger, but they were one of my favorite dishes regardless. To end my meal, I love getting their Tres Leches Cake. It's such a big portion that can easily be shared with 2 or 3 people! The Tres Leches cake was delectable and aesthetically pleasing. It's super soft (not soggy at all) and was very light and creamy. There are plenty of public parking lots nearby that are free after 5 or 6pm, so parking is not an issue here. Overall, I'm so excited to come back here to try their other dishes. The place is super convenient to get to and aesthetically pleasing.

Yelp
Great to have a second Gustazo nearby. Everything just as good here - Orishas, Westerly Wind, Margarita, empanadas, croquetas, cazuela de coliflor asada, sol stuffed rellenos, ceviche all delicious. Quick friendly service.

Yelp
Wow, as a south Floridian, this is IT! I was seriously impressed with the food quality here. Don't sleep on the empanadas! I normally don't order them when I go out because they tend to be really filling but my partner did, and wow! Super unique with the sesame seed coating, flaky dough, and delicious filling (we got the mushroom blue cheese that day). We also ordered the Ropa vieja, truffled yuca fries, and palomilla. Everything was fantastic - I can't wait to come back here again. The only thing I didn't like is they opened the windows.. on a 93 degree day. I left sweaty and sticky, but the food made it worth it. Cocktails were also fantastic!

Yelp
My first time here, I went with a couple of friends for a birthday dinner; one of them was Cuban! The restaurant's decor is fantastic, especially with the large windows open! It gives a vibe of Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale. Their menu is somewhat limited, and two items I wanted were out of! Overall the service was quick and prompt! Their cocktail was good, but one stood out, which was the Guava Blossom. I probably would go for drinks again, but not for the food!

Yelp
Harry is the best! My Sunday fun day is only possible because of Harry! Great drinks, fun atmosphere, real conversation - thanks a ton!'

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place every time I walk down Moody Street and finally got to. We went there on a Friday evening without reservation so we were seated at the bar area since all the tables were booked. Very chill vibes and the place is not too busy so a good place to talk to. I had two small plates: Empanadas and Tacos. The ground beef and the flaky pastry with the seeds mix on the pastry is just the perfect combination for empanadas. The not-so-spicy mayo is a good add-on but I would personally want the mayo to be spicier and have a punch. Tacos were big with lots of filling. The yogurt slaw and the acidity in the greens mix balance it out. It was a bit too much for me to finish. Overall, a great not-so-busy location with great food although the menu doesn't have a lot of options.

Yelp
Excellent food. Decent ambience and plenty of places to sit. Lots of good choices and generous plates. Very understaffed, service is considered poor.

Yelp
The food, service, and ambiance are all wonderful. You can't go wrong with any menu item, it's all solid and delicious! Absolutely nothing to complain about other than the parking but that's what you get if you want to eat in Waltham. I even liked the hot chocolate and I never like warm drinks!

Yelp
Dine in with mice running between your legs!!! I have dine at Gustazo Cuban 3 times and though the food was very good. But last night while dining we spotted mice running in the dining room. We reached out to a hostess who seem not to be bothered by this event. It seems like this is a normal instance in the restaurant since I have read a couple of other reviews of similar events recently at this restaurant. Honestly no matter how good the food and service, I will never return to this restaurant. Poor response from hostess and mice while dining is not worth the food.

Yelp
Such an amazing spot for Tapas & Cuban cuisine! Love that they have an empanada of the day, I tried their beef one - well-seasoned with a yummy flaky pastry. Out of their menu I highly recommend their Puerco Asado, plantain chips with guac, and their sangria! Every dish is consistently delicious & carefully made. Service was A+ as well!

Yelp
I went for my birthday and the food was perfect! I wish the portions were bigger but that's tapas for you. Everything went well and I'm so excited to go back!

Yelp
Went to Gustazo last Thursday and sat at bar with my best friend. Harry & Diego were amazing hosts and very attentive! We had the Croquetas de Jamón and Camarones a la Plancha as our appetizer, and we shared a Puerco Asado as our meal. The Puerco Asado would be my go to "last meal". Gustazo is my FAVORITE Moody St. Restaurant... in fact, it's my FAVORITE restaurant full stop! What a great restaurant, space, and staff!

Yelp
Many selections for tapas, service was good, this restaurant is big, the food we ordered were good but a bit on the salty side. Their ingredients taste fresh, I would recommend to use less sauce.

Yelp
The restaurant is a 3.5 review. There is parking (public parking lot behind the restaurant) just go down copper street to get to it. It's a little confusing, just remember turn down cooper. Only one way in, the exit is a one way. The meters turn off at 6pm. This seems to be a popular restaurant with tables stacked closely to one another and not an empty table in sight. We were able to make a reservation on OpenTable despite the influx of taylor swift fans coming in for the concert. The restaurant is nicely decorated with some leather love seats mixed in. Although aesthetically pleasing, for the not so tall folks, it wasn't as comfortable since you can't sit all the way back and eat comfortably. The drinks weren't great, got a mojito, the rose sangria and the old Cuban. The mojito was fine but the rest were not good. Food wise, there were some real hits and others that were lackluster. We started with the yuca fries and beef empanadas which were excellent. The only regret I had was not ordering two empanadas. Crispy outer crust and moist and packed with flavor on the inside. One thing I did notice is their sauce game is on point. The cilantro aioli was delicious with the yuca fries, which were perfectly crisp. When we ordered the rest of our food we got the shrimp and grits, maduros which is plantains wrapped in bacon in a plain rain sauce, the chicharrones, and the slow roasted pork (pueco asado). The Maduros and pueco asado were excellent. Would reorder with the yuca and empanadas. The shrimp and grits and chicharonnes missed the mark. The shrimp and grits needed more seasoning, when you bite it with some of the bacon bits it was ok but needed more seasoning. The grits were more soupy/saucy than grits. The chicharonnes tasted good but there was a weird texture afterwards as if the fat from the pork belly congealed and gets stuck to your teeth. Not a pleasant experience. I would come back for the empanadas and yuca fries and try other items. This is a tapas place so order 2 tapas per person or 1 of the large plates which should be plenty of food. I forgot to mention the flan was good, a little heavy but solid.

Yelp
First time eating at Gustazo even though I've lived in Waltham for 30+ years. Boy was I missing out. Unassuming front entrance until you go inside and I was transported to another place. The space is really nice with super high, tin lined ceilings. It's also a huge space! Very warm and friendly atmosphere. My friend and I sat at the bar and Mike and Claire were our bartenders / servers. They were both top notch all the way! We ordered some cocktails and started with some small plates, the CROQUETAS DE JAMÓN, Yucca Fries, and the Chicharrones. We were going to split a large plate but decided that the small plates were so awesome, we got two other... Jibarito and Costillias a la Guayaba. Honestly neither one of us could decide which we liked better. We will be back for sure! This is now in my top two restaurants on Moody Street! Can't wait to go back and try some other dishes...
