Unpretentious neighborhood deli featuring an array of sandwiches & other staples.
"There are a bunch of interchangeable neighborhood sandwich spots in Foggy Bottom, and everyone has their personal favorite. But only at GW Deli do you get an actual stack of bacon in your bacon egg and cheese. This is one of those places where you’ll spend all your time in line deciding you want one thing, only to get to the front and find yourself impulsively blurting out something else. But don’t panic while you wait - you’ll be happy with whatever you end up with. We like it best for breakfast (see above about the BEC), but it works for lunch too." - Sandra Rubinchik
"George Washington University students flock to more than 75-year-old GW Deli, aka Leo’s. Breakfast sandwiches are the move here, and New Jersey expats will be pleased to find Taylor pork roll bagels. Walk in to choose from several varieties of bagels." - Missy Frederick, Eater Staff
"This unassuming neighborhood sandwich spot for the masses has been around forever. The sandwiches are simple but delicious, the menu is extensive, and It’s known for generous heaps of crispy bacon." - Aparna Krishnamoorthy
"Hurry over to Foggy Bottom before the GW students crowd this beloved college deli. At GW Delicatessen the hot pastrami comes served at both breakfast and lunch, either on a bagel or sandwich." - Tim Ebner
