"Japanese yakiniku (literally “grilled meat”) restaurants aren’t exactly aplenty in Dallas, but the Addison outpost of this chain is a perfect introduction to the concept. Order a la carte plates of marinated beef, chicken, and tofu, or splurge on a budget-friendly multi-course dinner for two. At only $60, it includes appetizers, several different types of meat (including Kobe options) and grill-your-own s’mores." - Amy McCarthy

We’re in town visiting. My partner never had Japanese style bbq so I took him to this place. It didn’t disappoint. We were there during lunch hours so we got the lunch special. We each got the 3 meat plates per person. I can’t remember what they were but everything was great! I didn’t like the spicy pork, too much spice on it but my partner didn’t mind. The service was great, our waiter was attentive. The place is well ventilated so you don’t walk out smelling like grilled food. 10/10 highly recommend!

Google
My partner has been wanting to come here and everything is what we expected! The food was all high quality and tasty~ definitely would recommend a reservation. We made one but those who came after is and didn't had a wait time for 1.5hr. Only thing was this was first time here and there wasn't much guidance on how cook everything. We had to figure it ourselves.

Google
This is one of my favorite places when it comes to all you can eat. A la carte is available but I usually order the lunch menu which is $27.50 ayce. The kimchi, Gyu Kaku salad, and seaweed soup is recommended. I tried all of the toro beef and the yaki shabu beef. They always have different promotions when it comes to holidays.

Evonne Punzalan

Google
Always a great experience thanks to the delicious meats and exceptional customer service. Jenni was attentive and a very helpful server, along with the rest of the staff. Will always come back!

Google
Went for late lunch on weekdays and the lunch menu here is awesome. Combination 2 or 3 meats runs $13.99 to $17.99 pick the proteins and many choice of beef, pork and other meats. Upgrade is available and I would recommend trying the Garlic rice. They come in heated stone vessel and cooking table side. Delicious and affordable alternative for steamed white rice. Also Happy Hour menu is available before 6pm with many choices and cuts of meat Will definitely go back again soon.

Google
The atmosphere was great and the service was friendly and attentive. The meat quality was good and the grilling experience was fun. The only thing I’d like to see improved is the seasoning: some of the meat was a bit too salty for my taste.

Vineeth Ramachandran

Google
Chose the ultimate all you can eat option and enjoyed the all the meat, side dishes, salads and mochi that came along with it. Service was good and will visit again.

Google
Amazing food & Service. We loved the cheese corn & garlic noodles. Yum.

Brooklyn R.

Yelp
Excellent meat quality and tasty sides, the cheesy corn is a must try here. The service is quick and servers are attentive. Because of the pricing for all you can eat ($58 per person) this feels like a bit more of a special occasion spot. Booths are comfortable and grills are easy to access.

Yelp
What a great way to wrap up the day!!! We enjoyed the Treasure Mountain (Yaki-Shabu & Angus Beef Rib), Bistro Hanger Steak, Prime Kalbi Short Rib, Umakara Ribeye, Spicy Tuna Volcano, Garlic Edamame, and the Yuzu Avocado Salad. YUM!! Everything was amazing! Dylan, our waiter, was attentive, prompt, kept our glasses full, and our bbq grill clean. He was superb! We highly recommend Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ. P.S. be sure to get the app. You get 100 points just for joining. If you enter a referral code (such as mine Brecha1401) you will get even more! I was able to get one of our items for free for doing just that. Then I got even more points when we paid!

Yelp
Perfect date night environment and experience. Our dinner started with hot miso soup. In the grill we had broccoli and cheese dip starting while we enjoyed beef fried rice which was mixed at the table in a hot serving dish. Next came salad with fresh veggies, eggs and a light dressing. Next we grilled several varieties of beef and shrimp. The meat is marinated in Japanese sauces and melts in your mouth. Two waiters collided near our table and the staff apologized by giving us green tea ice cream as a treat. The staff was kind and constantly checking in and cleaning off plates as we finished. Overall experience was EXCELLENT!

Lexi H.

Yelp
I love the spot. They have all day happy on Monday and their happy hour prices are pretty good. I like that they have an option for a la carte menu instead of just all you can eat. My FAVORITE is the spicy cucumber salad - I usually get two for myself. Their garlic noodles are also phenomenal, as well as the pork dumplings. If getting steak, I recommend also getting the scallion sauce. Their staff is always friendly! They also have beer towers that are always fun to elevate the vibe. They're good with turning tables. You have 90 minutes to finish you meal there and they're very attentive.

Jeff M.

Yelp
Very interesting place! Loved it. Unique (to me) cooking tables that gave off almost no smoke smell at all inside. We got the mid-range priced family style meal loaded with different meats. You get a salad first and a small dessert after. Meats were easy to cook and the pace was great. Servers were young but very well trained. You could tell they liked their job. I will most definitely be back.

Yelp
Ok, so I wrote a tip off the prices alone (which scared me out the door), but I was determined to go back and try the place because the first time I went it was packed and that's usually a good sign. When I returned, I didn't order the AYCE Korean bbq (yall, it's like $60), but I opted for the a la carte menu instead. From there, I took advantage of the HH specials and ordered the fried rice with beef and some pork for the grill. Now the pork was for sure the highlight, and I was so mad I didn't order more. The bitmap rice (with extra meat) didn't seem to have much meat at all, and it wasn't as flavorable as I'd hope....so definite hard pass on that. I'd go back and choose the two person dining option since I do want to try additional meats. It's just unfortunate I won't get the AYCE option as it's too expensive.

Yelp
Walked by and decided to give Gyu-Kaku a try. Interesting that the restaurant sits between Asian Mint and Pho Bowl. Two good restaurants to have to compete with. The BBQ concept is a grill in the middle of your table where you cook your own meat - very cool. We found that the recommended cooking times were way too short, so just make sure it is done if you have pork or chicken especially. We both had the lunch specials (Gyu-Combo 2), where you pick 2 meats (good portions), miso soup, a salad, and steamed white rice. Sauces were extra ($3 each) and we passed, using the free soy and spicy sauces. The salad was really good, and I recommend it (although more dressing or at least enough to cover the large portion of greens and lettuce would have been better). We started with some hot tea, but it came out cool. They quickly replaced it and did not charge us for it. The miso soup was ok, but not near as good as I have had in other restaurants. On to the meat. I chose the Angus beef chunks and Toro strips. The Toro strips look like bacon, but don't taste like bacon since beef. Good flavor but seemed like 90% fat on each strip. The Angus beef flavor was ok, but also pretty tough and had gristle. I would not order it again. Pretty much every other beef choice was a price upgrade ($3 - $6 it seemed per meat upgrade). My wife chose the teriyaki chicken and garlic shrimp. The shrimp was fine, but not great. The chicken was far and away the best choice and we would both recommend it. I loved the concept and the restaurant ambiance. Service was friendly and helpful. My guess is the price upgrade selections are the way to go and then you have to determine if it is worth the cost over the $16 base price for lunch.

Yelp
I'd never experienced Japanese BBQ before, but Gyu-Kaku came highly recommended as one of the best in town. I was really excited about the cook-yourself concept. The staff were fantastic--friendly and welcoming. We opted for the Ultimate All You Can Eat Experience at $62 per person, which gives you 55 items from the premium and ultimate selections for 90 minutes. Our favorite dishes were the garlic fried rice (absolutely delicious and worth it), egg soup, Japanese pork sausages, Harami Skirt Steak, premium sirloin, spicy and addicting cucumber, umakara pork, and New York steak. Everything was served promptly, and different waiters consistently checked in to see if we needed anything else, keeping our table clear of empty plates. I believe this would be a fun experience to share with family, especially since they have long booths perfect for larger groups. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I definitely plan to return in the future.

Jake M.

Yelp
But there several years ago, when it had first opened was a good experience, but has gone downhill. The entire place is in need of a major upgrade and cleaning.

Andy D.

Yelp
One thing I will have to say about this restaurant is that it's really a cook yourself experience. The atmosphere was nice the place was very well thought out and the giant mirror made the restaurant seem more spacious then it was. Once we had ordered the food from our server everything came out in a timely manner we didn't have to wait to long which we were quite pleased with. However after dropping off the food we rarely saw our server but again it's a cook urself experience so I guess not a lot of service is needed. We ordered the meat lovers set and to be honest I don't know what meat I ordered but after everything was said and done the meat quality was good and I was genuinely pleased with the experience. The food is definitely worth a try.

Yelp
Food is amazing, Wagyu was so tender and juicy, Favorite item: Fried calamari, Garlic noodles Service is top notch, always so attentive and helpful. Ambiance is nice. Love the music!

Yelp
I've been here many times with the whole family and in date nights. For me it only makes sense on date night for the amount of money. When it's my wife and me we get the biggest buffet selection and get all of our favorites from ramen to harami steak to kalbi to corn. My wife loves the fried l Pastry fish with green tea ice cream. The place is cool looking and the staff are great.

Yelp
Our first time trying Japanese BBQ. I've had Korean BBQ a few times before. This is similar however has its own different flavor and differences in type of meat. We did the Premium All You Can Eat which cost $52/person for the three of us. Well worth it. Our server was very attentive and our orders were brought to us very quick by him and the other servers. Tons and tons of meat, portion sizes were plentiful. Some decent side options as well. In terms of drinks, the saki we had was pretty strong and the strawberry margarita was tasty. I definitely recommend and I'll certainly return to this restaurant.

Robert M.

Yelp
Have been here a few times in the past, always with good experiences. Went "all the way" for the first time with the SUPREME level AYCE menu. The Prime Kalbi Shortrib, Duck Breast, and Miso Butter Salmon made it worth the upgrade. Was a bit annoying that the prices charged were higher than those on the printed and online menus. It's always uncomfortable to have to point that out, but it really needs to be accurate. Even with that slight annoyance, the experience was perfect. Great food. Attentive friendly service. UPDATE: Twice since dining there on Nov 11th, I informed them about their incorrect menu prices. I see that they are still incorrect. You'd think they'd want to get this corrected quickly. They also failed to provide me any information regarding a "10% off a following visit" offer they advertised during the time I dined there. I asked twice... crickets. ‍

Yelp
Normally, I'd wait until I'm finished eating to write review but theses garlic noodles are spectacular! So I was doing some midday Sunday Target shopping and knew I didn't want to cook. I've tried to make it a point to try new places especially while in Addison. Before I checked out at Target (10 min away) I placed an order online for Gyu-Kaku via Chow Now. I drove a little slower so it'd take up some time since it was estimated to be ready in 30 min. Once I arrived, I was able to pull up in one of those curbside pick up spots. I will say, it would be nice if they had their logo on the actual door. I thought the entrance was the exit door to the Pho place next door. Anywho, I was greeted after a few minutes and told my order would be a few more minutes. The hostess went to check on my food and I guess it was ready but their system didn't update. I got my food and was ready to go. I got the Garlic Noodles and Chicken. It was the best comfort meal I've had in a while. The noodles weren't mushy, just right. The chicken was good and almost had a stewed taste if you're familiar with Caribbean cooking. They use dark meat fyi. I know it's a simple meal and could probably be made at home but food tastes better when someone else prepares it :) Give it a try!

Yelp
The food is good. I served as an honorary Gyu-Kaku e-club member since the start of 2019. I observed the food quality and value decrease since the start of the covid pandemic. On this day, I received an email from gyu=kaku for a free appetizer with purchase. As a result, I am motivated to visit the restaurant. Strangely, even though the restaurant reveals as half empty, the restaurant requires patrons to reserve a table. I reserved a table using the platform OpenTable. I ordered the garlic bibimbap bowl and the noodle soup. The server felt attentive for the mixing of the garlic bibimbap bowl. When I consumed the garlic bibimbap bowl, I observed a decrease in its quality, unfortunately. The bowl has less garlic compared to the garlic bowl I consumed two years ago at a location in Austin Texas. The bowl's rice feels qsquishy as if the rice is not fresh. I consumed the noodle soup. The piece of pork belly felt similar to the pork belly they served as sliced kakuni for the hot pot. Is the restaurant substituting day-old kakuni for the meat in the noodle soup? I don't know. I hope they are not making any substitutions. The noodle soup tasted salty. Presently, they use MSG in both the noodle soup and the rice bowl. I am ashamed at the decrease in Gyu-kaku's quality over the years. I guess this is the cost of business. The price of the entrees has not increased since the pandemic. The server performed his job attentively and cleaned the tables after each patron left the restaurant. A++ service to the server. This is the sole positive aspect of my visit at gyuu-kaku.

Ruth G.

Yelp
One the best AYCE kbbq that has QUALITY beef. I wish I had some specific recommendations but honestly everything here is good in regards to beef and pork ( we never eat chicken at kbbq). A great spot for group dining we had 10 people in our party!

Taylor K.

Yelp
This is one of the worst Gyu-Kaku locations we've been to. They are perpetually short staffed and it really ruins the experience of a timed "all you can order" location since you're capped at 90 minutes and can't get a server to check in on you more than a couple of times. We had trouble getting our server to come replace our grate between orders causing several of our cooking rounds to burn.

Emily N.

Yelp
Service is fast af and they change the grill very often. The food was spectacular and definitely worth it. The quality of the meat is up there. I really enjoyed the smores after!

Amanda L.

Yelp
I honestly really enjoyed this place and the atmosphere. The waiter was really nice and explained everything very clearly and precisely. She told us recommendations as well as their app promotions which allowed us to get free things. The food was really yummy, but for the price point, I was a little disappointed how chewy all the meat was. However the lunch special is really good and I honestly would come back here for the ambience. Would not recommend getting the kabli short rib, it's usually my favorite and is considered a premium meat (cost extra) but it was very chewy and def not my favorite seasoning. Stick with the normal ones, like the umakara ribeye was my boyfriends favorite pick and it was seasoned very well. For the lunch special, two meats is good for me because it came with a lot of rice and miso soup and a salad (although i didn't enjoy the salad all that much). Also get the app! It's pretty cool and you get free s'mores just for downloading it

Renee I.

Yelp
Three words: Black Pepper Wings! Unfortunately, this was all I was able to try at the time, but trust me when I tell you it was enough. I love when restaurants do wings the right way. I owe this place another visit because there was so many other appealing options on the table. Can't wait to come back.

Declan S.

Yelp
Food quality and service were excellent which you don't find sometimes at AYCE restaurants. Went back to a different Gyu-Kaku and had the same experience.

Niki P.

Yelp
For the price we paid it was unimpressive. The cuts of meat were very tender and the marinade was good, but it seemed as though they all tasted the same the more we ordered. The server was kind enough during the busy dinner hour, but after the third time he forgot what we ordered it began to get old and irritating. My table also started to mind when we were sitting for minutes at a time without food in front of us and then too much all at once where we couldn't see our company. The ambiance was very wonderful when we could see and hear our guests, but when the plates were chucked at our table and spilling the drinks, we didn't notice. Final note, for the s'mores and the price we paid, get Godiva or Linda for your guests please, giving people hershey's for $70 a person seems disrespectful.

Chetas C.

Yelp
I came here this weekend as one of my friends knowing I'm a huge fan of kbbq recommened it to me. It was the first time I had Japanese BBQ outside of japan and I can say it was absolutely delicious! When it comes to open grill barbeque, of course I had to get the all you can eat! I got a variety of meat including all the beef cuts they offer in the premium menu option! Each cut was super delicious. I got a number of sides as well including the cheesy corn and gyoza. The pacing was really nice as well. The appetizers were brought out and then the meat came out at a good pace. After finishing the main dishes, the all you can eat included smores as a dessert letting me grill the marshmellow over the grill which was cool!

Sheila M.

Yelp
This was my first visit today. Late lunch, 2 people First the positive: the pork bibimbap from the seasonal menu was incredible. Gyoza was good. Cute place, seemed clean. Then the negative: tonkatsu ramen was so salty could only eat few bites. Cheese corn made with velveeta cheese. Yuck Gangster rap with more cuss words than any other lyrics playing very loudly in restaurant was super off putting and made we glad I couldn't eat my food so we could leave sooner.

Alicia S.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service was great. The only issue I had was that they sat a party of 5 at a table for 4 people, with the amount of plates we had, there was barely any room on our table to fit us, we felt trapped and could barely move, we had only one person at our table cook the food because we couldnt each over all the plates and cups comfortably. I even made a reservation 4 days in advance

Vivian L.

Yelp
Went for lunch with some friends, and it wasn't crowded. Our waitress was very patient and nice. Super attentive and changed out the grills multiple times. The meat is absolutely amazing. They're all marinated to perfection. Personally, I think it's 10x better than kbbq, but it's also double the cost of kbbq for all you can eat. The side dishes are delicious as well. Reservations can be made online, which I think helps during their busier times like for dinner. 20% gratuity was added to our bill for a party of 5.

Vanny S.

Yelp
Food was good. The portions are small for the price. However, we went for lunch so we did a la carte. It might be a different experience if we did their course meal. All in all good experience. Will definitely try the course menu next time.

Thor X.

Yelp
The food is always good here. No complaints there. Service could be better for sure. Ambiance is always nice. My second gripe would be the timing of the food. They send out your salad, soup, beginning appetizers in good timing, but then the meats come out right after, just crowding your entire table, if you're getting the family packages. If they worked on timings, I think you could definitely enjoy the salads and soups and beginning appetizers.

Talesha C.

Yelp
This was such a fun and different experience. We selected one of their meals for two people, they brought out all the foods (uncooked) and left it to us to cook the food on the little grills. Of course we ate as we cooked instead of waiting until all of it was finished. I don't remember what each piece was in the photos but just know that it was delicious. The broccoli and cheese in the foil was one of the best parts as well. I'll be returning next time I'm in Dallas.

Anh P.

Yelp
Ugh this place has officially ruined AYCE KBBQ for me, at least in DFW. Now, JBBQ is now where it's at!!! Seriously bussin' especially if you just go for their AYCE Supreme option. A la carte is way too complicated for my tired lil brain. My smol group of 3 got a ton of meat options (duh), basically 1 of each type that wasn't chicken or pork, and 2 more of filet mignon, and dayummm were we satisfied with the quality. The fattiness, tenderness, and seasonings of these juicy lil' tings did NOT disappoint since first bite. It didn't take long for each set of raw meats to come out, the servers were awesome and whipped out ~4 or 5 plates each time. The sides were the ones that took more time, so maybe account for that and order the veggies and butter cheese corn first before going ham on the meats. Also, be aware that if something comes in aluminum foil, you gotta keep it wrapped that way and just throw it on the grill. We appreciated how nice every server was that night, and for catching our dumbasses lmao. Meats I recommend: -Toro beef -Umakara ribeye -Kalbi chuck rib -Premium sirloin -Filet mignon -Harami skirt steak -Beef tongue -Thick-cut miso beef tongue -Prime kalbi short rib -Duck breast -Miso butter salmon Sides I recommend: -Addicting cucumbers -Shishito peppers -Mushroom medley -Cheese corn butter I didn't try other desserts other than the red bean-filled Taiyaki which was so good and not that sweet. They were out of the sorbet and matcha tiramisu when we went, but I'll def give those a try next time. Can't wait to come back and try the other things we couldn't fit in our stomachs!

Krista G.

Yelp
I've been to this location twice; once with a group (6ppl) from work for lunch and with a large family group (9ppl) for a weekend dinner. Both times were amazing. Plenty of food to share and the wait staff is very nice. We had a great time cooking up the variety of meats and the side dishes were also delicious! If I have a complaint, it's that the meat doesn't come labeled so I never know which one was truly my favorite but since they are all good, it's not really a complaint! If you aren't feeling like the BBQ, get the beef sukiyaki bibimbap and you will not be disappointed...it is so amazing, I'm thinking about it right now!

Alexis W.

Yelp
Best form of asian bbq! Much better than kbbq and I don't leave smelling like meat or smoke. The meat options are so good and marinated nicely, and the sauces are delicious as well! The AYCE menu is so nice with so many options and there are 3 sets of AYCE menus to choose from depending on how much you want to spend.

Jasmine T.

Yelp
Ramen was excessively salty and almost inedible. The chashu pork in the ramen was also 90% fat and unappetizing. I understand that ramen is not their specialty, and they even had a "sodium warning" on the menu, but why not just omit it from the menu? Service was also not great and they forgot a large portion of our order. I would not come here again.

Juno L.

Yelp
Amazing food. I'm a big fan of Korean BBQ and any other all-you-can-eat grill it yourself type places. Gyu-Kaku in terms of flavor is the best place in DFW for me. You have so many awesome options to choose from, and everything is delicious. My first time here was for a friend's birthday and we were so impressed that I took my wife to dinner here shortly after. Both times the food was on point and the service was friendly. As with all all-you-can-eat places where you can't get the food yourself from a buffet line, your orders are dependent on the server going back and forth between the kitchen. When Gyu-Kaku gets busy, this can be a bit of an issue, which is unfortunate since you're limited in time and you're limited to how many meats you can request per order. I don't want to assume this was intentional, but during both of my visits I felt like the service became less attentive as the meal went on and there were long gaps between orders with us sitting there having cleared our table. The wait times to place orders would've been more annoying if I didn't have such great company at my table. It's up to you how much of a gripe that would be. I gotta end this review on a high note. The cheesy corn. Holy moly. Forget the meats and other items. The cheesy corn is where it's at. It tastes SOOOO unhealthy in the best way possible. It tastes like it's just cheese, butter, and corn, but it's pretty special. Highly recommend you get it first and order an order every time you order more meats!

Rene M.

Yelp
Enjoyed my first visit to the Japanese BBQ. I've had many types of BBQ, Korean, Pakistani and good ole Texas bbq and Japanese is a welcome addition. I had the beef tenderloin and the hanger steak. At lunch it's served with miso soup, sticky rice and a great house salad. Can't wait to go back. The servers are very friendly and helpful!

Ron L.

Yelp
Great flavor. If you want to take a break from Korean BBQ flavors, this place is the place to go. This Japanese marinade is better than most Korean BBQ places.

Kavaragu M.

Yelp
Cons first. They say you must make reservations, can't have a party of more than 6, and temperature check everyone. Well.... none of those things are true from my first time visit although I adhered to each. Temp checks are sporadic, people were seated as they came in and there was a table of at least 10 behind me. When I walked in the hostess was on the phone and didn't bother to look up and acknowledge, give a smile, ask for a moment or anything. Now I appreciate you are giving the best customer service to the person on the phone but she wasn't even doing that. So, that was a disappointing start. Pros. Our server was pretty good and attentive. The food was really good and adequate for 2 people. I probably won't drive there again though as I've had a better experience at gyu kaku in other states.

Loc N.

Yelp
Took awhile for waiter to come but he acknowledged it and apologized. The service form him was great and very attentive. The quality of the meat was also great, I would definitely recommend but try to go during a less busy hours.

Yasamin G.

Yelp
Sad I didn't get more than one photo to show the awesomeness of this place! The experience was great as the place was kept nice and cool during the 110 degree heat outside paired with a blazing grill in your table. The service was pretty quick, not too many questions or chatting which in my opinion is ideal. The lunch deal with 3 meats was perfect for one person with no appetizers. It comes with a delicious fresh salad, miso soup, and steamed rice. We opted for the bibimbap sukiyaki fried rice, A MUST. It was so good alongside the crispy and fatty meats. The spicy dipping sauce is also number one for me! We will be back for sure!

Winta E.

Yelp
I heard so many great things about this place and turned out to be disappointed when I realized how complicating their menu was. You only have two options the a la carte menu and the bbq courses which is basically preselected and you're not allowed to substitute the meat other than replacing it with chicken.. I didn't like the fact that it was preset and you couldn't substitute things out. The a la carte menu can be expensive since you're ordering everything individually.. you even have to order sides it does not come with any sides. I think this place would be a lot better if the a la carte menu came with sides or if there was an all you can eat option and you can select your own meat.

Yelp
Can't complain about a single thing. Everything was great from the food to the service. Always enjoy coming here to eat. You'll never be disappointed.

Yelp
Having our Sunday family dinner here. This place in Addison was busy on Sunday night. Glad that my son made reservations thru Open Table. The regular waiting time was 45 minutes. But still we waited for 15 minutes for our table to be ready. We tried their Yakitori Group Menu. The server informed us that Yakitori group menu and its side orders are behind by 15 minutes due to packed customer orders. Our drinks were served promptly, but the side orders came in slow. So as the sliced meat (chicken, pork and beef). Service was slow. Service Staff was apologetic, attentive and courteous. Serving portions were just average. $$ Yelp price code should have been $$$. The meat for bbq was fresh, not freezer burn taste. The salad that came with it consist of fresh veggies and it's dressing blended well with it. Ideally, this place is not for couples who expect a romantic night dinner. Dining customers were loud. Clean separate Men and Women's bathroom. Restaurant ambiance is ok, not outstanding. My tip for new customers, make reservations ahead.

Yelp
We absolutely love this this franchise, unfortunately the Addison location needs to hire additional help. The hostesses are having to play multiple roles in checking folks in, taking calls, prepping tables, and even taking orders. Everything arrived to our table promptly except the main event, the meat and poultry. It took a solid 50 mins until the hostess realized we hadn't been tended to. Everything else was dead cold by the time the meat arrived and at that point we were full off of rice and sides. Great franchise, however, you're better off doing Korean BBQ at the many Carrollton establishments.

Yelp
So happy we were able to stop by to try this place! It's beautifully designed and feels very classy and great to take a date or catch up with friends. Make your reservation with OpenTable so you don't have to wait too long! My bf and I came on a Thursday for lunch in time for happy hour!! Our waiter, Michael was friendly and helpful with introducing the menu. He recommended the happy hour special, available only on weekdays from 11-3pm (excluding holidays). $11.95 for 2 bbq items and $15.95 for 3 bbq items. Includes salad, miso soup and white rice! We ended up going with the $11.95 deal and the $15.95 deal. I chose the Angus beef rib (marinated in) and bistro hangar steak (marinated in shio). My bf chose the chuck rib, Bistro hangar steak in miso and pork belly. Super super delicious and filling! There were also small plates with happy hour prices so we went with the Spicy Cabbage Salad normally $4/HH price $3. This paired excellently with the meats as it had a tangy, spicy flavor that breaks up the heaviness. Great portion, great flavor, worth the price! We also ordered the Cheese Corn Butter (Normally $5/ HH price $4). A decent portion of corn in a skillet. My bf really liked this one. It's more of a sweet corn and not very cheese (which my lactose sensitive stomach is thankful for). There are so many options to choose from here! I highly recommend coming during lunch to try out the many dishes and combinations for a cheaper price. There are also a la Carte options like rice dishes (stone bowl), noodle dishes and soup! There is even AYCE BBQ which you can ask for more detail from the waiter. BEWARE: I believe it is a 90 minute time limit.

Yelp
We always love coming to Gyu Kaku! Everything was extra delicious today and our server Ai made the whole experience even better! Definitely recommend getting the harami skirt steak

Yelp
Unsatisfied experience! Customer service was horrible and food portions was terrible. The place was dirty.

Yelp
Such a great Japanese bbq experience! It is a lot different than Korean bbq though with a lot more marinade. You may not need a lot of the sauce dips. We got the combo and it was plenty of food that we left very full. Don't forget to make reservations as it can get very busy!

Yelp
I wanted to like this place, but was disappointed. The servings were very small and very pricey. Complicated menu. It cost $75+ for the four of us, and we all left hungry. I found the rice bowl very greasy. Friendly staff. If I went back again, I would try something different. Also, beware if you are vegan. The menu says they have vegan, but two items I tried to order had butter.

Yelp
Well if you want to save some time and money, don't go here. If you want to try out Gyu-Kaku, just don't go to this location. Go to another one instead. Just looking out for you, besties. Anyways, I wanted to share my experience because I didn't think this was right since I paid $100+. The service was absolutely rude when I went last night. Asked about AYCE because usually Gyu-Kaku has AYCE for an hour time limit and that was the main reason why I went. The server kept telling me there was no AYCE which was ..odd? Because usually all Gyu-Kaku have the same concept since it's a franchise but different management. Anyways we asked why and the server kept saying they didn't serve AYCE due to COVID which I thought was unusual because I called and asked and they said they were so I'm not sure if she just didn't want to deal with us ordering AYCE. I was pretty hungry and just brushed it off and ended up ordering the chefs favorite and a lychee mojito. Food was good, you can't really mess up meat lol but drinks were horrible. I had no lychee taste in my lychee mojito and asked nicely if it was ok if the drink could be remade. I explained to her that my drink had too much mint and I couldn't taste any lychee. She gave me this big attitude and then sighed heavily asking "so you want this drink again or what do you want now?" Now.. I'm a nice person and I paused and looked at her and just told her yes, the same drink to not taste too much mint. She said I needed to ask my manager about that. It took her 10 minutes to ask the manager... When the food came out she slammed the items down passive aggressively. At this point, I think I was way too nice and should have talked to the manager but I didn't because I just wanted to enjoy my meal. The drink didn't even come out until I finished almost half through my meal. It still didn't taste any better. She did not bother to ask or stop by to fill up my water or change the grill once. After the drinks, she completely disappeared. Anywho, it wasn't right that I payed $100+ for an experience like that. Save your coins friends and eat at another location.
