Gyukatsu Rose

Decided to have a solo lunch date after grabbing some Gideons (must try if you haven't had their cookies!) and my expectations were exceeded. Me and my husband had gyukatusu a few years ago when we went to Japan and this meal reminded me exactly of it. Wagyu was very tender and the breading was crispy, delicious! The server was very friendly and attentive, she also made a good suggestion adding the raw yakiniku egg yolk to the meal and mixing it into the hot rice. Definitely will be returning.

Wagyu is really good, esp when put salt and ichimi powder. Katsu curry is tender and juicy, go really well with egg york sauce mix in rice. Tuna one was just normal and not that special to me. Also, I found that you can also grill the breaded side after the meat side, it will crispy them up again. We found this out when grill is hot at the end of meal. Just remember to remind server to light the grill right after you order otherwise it not hot enough.

My first time here and went purely out of curiosity. Absolutely glad I made the reservation to come! Everything from the food to the service was outstanding. My girlfriend and I both decided to go with the double wagyu cutlet. We were a bit unsure about whether we ordered too much food, but as soon as we had our first bite, we knew not a single bite was going to go to waste. The food quality is extraordinary! Despite the beef quality being so rich, the combination of the side dishes and sauces really did lend itself to balancing out the flavors, which made for an amazing culinary experience. Even just the wagyu by itself is perfect! The ingredients used leave you full and satisfied, but they don’t sit heavy. Make sure you leave room for dessert! The matcha ice cream brûlée was delicious! 100/10 would for sure recommend this place to friends and family. We will for sure be coming back again!

We went to Gyukatsu Rose last night and my goodness it was phenomenal! I don't even like potato salad and I wanted to ask for more. The meat was divine and all of the sauces enhanced each slice of meat so well. I had the double wagyu, my husband had the surf and turf. And the sake drink with yuzu soda was so refreshing.

The wagyu was tender, buttery and pairing it with the dipping sauce was satisfyingly delicious. However, the side dishes and soup were bland and left much to be desired, especially the potato salad. Another disappointment was the tuna.. you'd think with such a small menu all the items would be equally good.. but the tuna was definitely low quality and not worth ordering ever. This place has so much potential to be really decent, if only they'd try to improve other items apart from their wagyu.

We've been meaning to try this place out & I'm so glad we finally did! From the moment we entered, Violet was an absolute pleasure! Not only was the service top notch, but every food item was delicious! The presentation & experience was like no other here in Orlando & I'm happy this concept exists! You have to try the wagyu & matcha brulee! This is my new favorite restaurant & we'll definitely be back soon!

Phenomenal! The food was so good. Meat was very high quality. It arrives lightly breaded (not the way you're probably thinking-the breading is super light just for a little crunch), and you finish it off to your preferred temp on a small stone grill. We got the single wagyu and it doesn't look like a lot of meat when it arrives, but the quality is so high (including tasty sides and a variety of sauces) that you feel completely full and satisfied by the end. It's just a small bar in East End Market, so you do have to deal with being a little cramped, but they did a good job with the space. We were each able to choose our own sake cup from a small selection of different designs, and they have machines there to deal with the smoke coming off of your hot plate. Considering what we received, the price was extremely reasonable.

We had a wonderful experience at Gyukatsu Rose. I was excited to find this place in the US. We all went for single size wagyu beef cutlet that you cook in your own mini grill. Barley rice, potato salad, shredded cabbage, shishito peppers were nice accompaniments. I loved the clear mushroom broth ! Sauces were delicious. Server was knowledgeable and professional. Only reason I gave 4 star is because I recently dined at Tokyo locations a few times and I compared my experience to what I had in Japan. My daughter and her boyfriend who live in Orlando absolutely loved it and plan to come back with their friends already. Price is reasonable too! Seating is extremely limited so make a reservation early.

The Goma dressing on the cabbage was a refreshing contrast that balanced the richness of the wagyu beautifully. Beyond the food, the ambiance was sleek and inviting, and the staff was attentive, ensuring everything was perfect from start to finish. If you're a wagyu lover, this place is a must-visit. I'll definitely be returning for another unforgettable meal!

While East End Market is traditionally home to grab-and-go options, Gyukatsu Rose is a tiny counter hour-long experience. Your options are simple - a single ($29) or double (if available) panko-breaded cutlet of wagyu beef that comes with a crispy cabbage salad, potato salad, pickled greens, pepper, and tomato. Part of the experience is grilling your own cutlet on a hot stone to your liking. Very easy to manage and our server (Violet) was very knowledgeable about each step of the meal. Props to her for being the perfect person to share a meal with (even if one-sided). At the end of the meal, we had the option to add on a matcha cookie creme brûlée. Of course we did, and Violet torched it right in front of us. It was the perfect end of the meal and worth writing home about. You can also take it to go if you're pressed for time or stomach space. Overall, this was a great experience and we will certainly be back. While we were there for a birthday occasion, I see many random trips in our future too. There were open reservations for a Saturday night the morning of, so it's also not too hard to squeeze in. Definitely book ahead!

I've been to Gyukatsu Rose twice now, and I have to say - I'm a big fan! Small Food Group's concepts never disappoint, and this is the perfect addition to Chef Sony's portfolio. Located inside East End Market right next to Rion's Ocean Room, you'll find the intimate 8 seat counter. You'll definitely want to make a reservation to guarantee yourself a seat (timeslots drop weekly on Resy). They also added a few outdoor tables to accommodate a few more guests per seating. We made reservations for a late lunch/early dinner on Valentine's Day, right when they open at 3pm. We were seated promptly and given the rundown by their friendly, knowledgeable staff. We started with some light, refreshing sake that happened to be BOGO for V-Day. This was our second visit, so we already knew based on our first experience, we were going to want some extra wagyu, so we ordered one additional cutlet to share. Then out comes the beautifully curated tray of yumminess including your lightly breaded and fried wagyu cutlet, rice, suimomo soup, cabbage salad, house pickles, potato salad, onion sauce, house soy, and fresh wasabi -- all for $29 or $48 for a double cutlet. The little stone grills are already hot as soon as you sit down, so you can start searing your wagyu right away. This quality steak can be eaten raw the way it's served or you can flash sear it for just a few seconds on each side. Melts in your mouth like butter and we ate every last bite! I was not familiar with this Japanese ishiyaki concept before experiencing it here, and I can see why it's so popular in Japan. I love that it's one set meal and the only decisions you have to make are choice of sake and how many wagyu cutlets you want. I was also very impressed by how quickly everything comes out -- perfect for us new parents who are running against the clock and can no longer sit through a 2+ hour dining experience with an infant. You can easily get in and out in under an hour if needed. Don't forget to save room for dessert! They seem to be rotating and trying out different options, but both the matcha oreo pudding and the bruleed ice cream were amazing!

"Let's have Wagyu," I answered my wife when she asked what we should eat (since it was my turn to decide lol). And that's what we did. I will say that after our trip to Japan, Wagyu beef around the central Florida area doesn't come close. Until now. I'm going to tell you this upfront. It's my favorite spot for Wagyu outside of Japan. Well, at least here in the states. They're still tweaking their menu, but during this soft opening session, it was almost like they were open at East End Market for years. The single cutlet meal was served to us "Bento style" with various sides. Karla was such a gracious host to us, explaining the menu and how to partake of the meal with great explanation of the different seasonings and sauces. She was great! The counter top grilling was top notch, with a fan up top that blew away the smoke from grilling the Wagyu beef (which by the way should only be seared at least 5 seconds on each side for perfection, at least for me. Lol) The whole experience was perfect. We will be coming back here as often as our wallets will allow. "They're your tastebuds. Satisfy them!" -Allan Delacruz

My group might be in the minority but we weren't a huuuggee fan when we visited. Firstly, we recommend to not come with a group larger than 2, as you will most likely not get seated together/at the same time. We had a large miscommunication regarding our seating and ended up waiting 3 hours. The staff also seemed kinda pushy to have us finish due to the volume of customers. I get it as it's a very popular area with only 8 seats. However it's not an atmosphere that invites hanging with your friends in my opinion. Regarding the food, it was good but not worth a wait. Meat is tender (friends received varying levels of crispiness) and it's fun mixing different sauces/toppings, and I loooved the sesame dressing and miso soup. Just don't come starving like we did!! I think in the future when the volume settles down it'd be a nice date spot, but for now be prepared to wait, especially if coming with a group of friends!

TL;DR: Small space, but fantastic, authentic food, with good sake options and a very reasonable price, with very kind and helpful staff. Since our return from Japan, we've been looking for a Gyukatsu place to open in Orlando that actually served Gyukatsu. Finally, we have one! It's a very small space (as is often the case with East End Market), so make sure you make a reservation! The staff were extremely nice and helpful! As is usually the case with East End Market, parking can sometimes be an issue depending on the night, so plan accordingly. Expect to spend almost exactly an hour for your meal, as they have very few seats that they turn every hour. Most importantly, the food was absolutely excellent. First thing to note is that the food menu is preset, the only choice you have to make is whether you want one Wagyu cutlet or two. Upon smelling the soup (and after tasting it), we both agreed that it brought us right back to when we had Gyukatsu in Kyoto, Japan. The Bokchoi was great with the Goma Dressing, the wasabi was fresh, the rice was good (especially with some Ichimi powder at each setting), and even the potato salad (which I don't usually like) was good. More importantly, the Wagyu cutlet was excellent with the soy sauce and the onion sauce, and even the Goma Dressing. It's worth noting that cutlet did take a bit to cook, so I recommend laying out as many pieces as you can fit on the stone plate as soon as you get it. The only suggestion that I'd make is if they had some Furikake seasoning at the place settings for the rice to make the barley rice even better! The sake options are pretty solid as well. We split a bottle of the Yuten Junmai Ginjo sake, which we both very much enjoyed. As advertised, it had a very smooth flavor and was very easy to drink. Lastly, we finished up with the Matcha Ice Cream Brûlée to go. I'm not really that big on matcha, or desserts... but this was surprisingly good! And only $5! Lastly, it's worth noting that the overall price for this meal was extremely reasonable! If you only order a one-cutlet meal, you're only looking at a price of $29 for a very good meal! I really hope that this place sticks around longer than some of the other places that preceded it, because we would definitely like to back here again!

Feel like you're eating in Japan without leaving Orlando. The space is minimalistic and cleanly designed. With only 8 seats it still feels spacious and even with hot grills in front of you the exhaust fans keep you comfortable. The experience is fantastic, giving you agency over your meal with a variety of sauces, seasonings and dishes to mix and match to your desired. The wonderful staff give you their personal recommendations and ideas but then once that tray hits your table it's a choose your own adventure of flavor. I was expecting a slightly thicker crust on the beef but it was perfect as it was. I suggest eating the end pieces first as they're fully cooked through and grilling won't do much justice to that wonderful meat. My preference was just salt so the wagyu fat can really shine through but the onion sauce was a very close second and I will be trying to replicate at home. The pickled bok choy was an unexpected delight with a slight mustard note to it. I would drink the cabbage salad dressing if it were socially acceptable. The soup was a warm and mild palate cleanser and I upgraded the mushrooms in it by grilling them in the wagyu fat. The only thing that was just ok was the rice, with the barley I was expecting a more nutty flavor but it was just nicely cooked rice. We took a matcha pudding to go which didn't quite feel like it matched the elegance of the meal with crushed Oreos and marshmallow fluff but it was tasty despite not tasting matcha (chocolate and marshmallow really overpower anything else). I'm so glad I got to preview this experience because once it's fully open (soft open starting January 16) it will likely be nigh impossible to get a seat. This is a unique and affordable experience, especially for a girl who desperately wants to go to Japan but has to compromise with what she can find locally

Anything this restaurant group touches is gold! I learned about this restaurant when trying Rion's Ocean's Room a few weeks ago at East End Market. This is right up our alley. After seeing several local foodie influencers post as well, I was absolutely hyped. So when we were in the neighborhood for the soft opening, I suggested to come here. I will add the disclaimer that since this is new and the weekend, we waited a little over 2 hours, but I found it worth it. I like that this is a set menu so everything came out fast. Our server was very knowledgeable as well and shared info about everything in the set. We also ordered green teas and matcha pudding to go. Loved the pudding so much. This is a must try. Everything was flavorful and well made, and it's fun to cook the wagyu. The goma dressing is absolutely fabulous. I can't wait to come back again!

Though heads up, the setup is designed for pairs--so flying solo might mean making friends with your imaginary plus one. Trust me, even if you're rolling solo, it's worth it. Maybe it was the cold weather or the fact that I was feeling a little under the weather, but that soup was the culinary equivalent of a warm hug. Sadly, since this was a soft launch, you can't order extra bowls a la carte, but believe me, I would've gladly gone for a second (or third). The star of the show here is the Wagyu cutlet, flash-fried and served alongside a hot stone for you to cook it just the way you like it. I'm usually in the camp of "why am I paying to cook my own food?" but this? This was a whole experience. Watching the beautifully marbled Wagyu sizzle on the hot stone was oddly satisfying, and the flavor was beyond anything I've had in a while. Let's talk about the staff--because they're amazing. Super friendly, incredibly attentive, and they go above and beyond to make sure you have the best possible experience. One of the coolest little touches was when they brought out the sake: you get to pick your own shot glass from an assortment of designs. It's a small detail, but it adds so much personality and fun to the meal. If you're debating how much to order, let me save you the trouble: go for the double cutlet option. I only went with one because I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it, and wow, was I dead wrong. The meal comes with all the sides you need for a perfectly balanced experience, and I left wishing I had room for more. So, here's the verdict: Gyukatsu Rose is already off to an incredible start, and this was just the soft launch. I can't wait to see what they bring to the table when they officially open. If you like beef (wagyu) and kastu this is the place to go. I've had some pretty amazing katsu from Japan and Vancouver. I haven't really found a place where I felt I got my katsu fix in Orlando. Though this is not your traditional type restaurant it's still worth it and very yummy! There is a caveat. Since this place is only doing walk in wait lists your waiting time may vary. You can buy beer or sake during your wait and sit in the outdoor seating area. We waited about 2 hours. If it wasn't for good company I probably would've left. I would probably recommend going as early as you can. Even if it was 2 hours I felt it was worth it. Also it was only $29 which I feel is a good price for what you are getting.

A one of a kind experience that took me back to Japan! Food: we got their set menu (only one choice at this time) and the meat was definitely delicious! I wasn't a fan of the breading, but the sauces definitely made up for it! My favorite was the onion sauce because I loveeee yuzu. The wasabi and pepper flakes also added to my perfect bite. The dressing for the cabbage was great and was my friend's favorite sauce to dip the meat in! The sides were pretty good but wish there were more variety (onsen egg, curry sauce, radish, maybe a white sauce, etc.) I got the dessert to go just to try. I'm not a huge Oreo or marshmallow fan but the matcha pudding part was pretty balanced! Being in east end it's so cozy and inviting, the staff are amazing too. It's definitely a must visit. I gave it 4 stars because gyu katsu is my favorite thing in the entire world to eat. I will definitely be back, hopefully when they have alittle more variety in meat cuts / marblings and sides!

i am absolutely taken back! this place was called a little piece of japan. it was a huge piece. i thought my experience was phenomenal... thats putting it lightly. from the gracious host, Violet to the curator of the setting, Lisa. everyone was so sweet, professional & welcoming. we haven't even started talking about the food yet. not only was the wagyu high quality, but is custom to only Gyu. it's lightly breaded, pre cooked to rare for us to finish to our own temp. the ginger dressing for the salad was veryyyyyyyy tasty as well. it felt like a fancy bento box experience but was very affordable. a one of a kind dining experience, that i recommend to any and all red meat lovers! kindly, GTB

Long story short, When I went to Japan I stumbled upon a place called Gyutasu Ichi Ni San in Tokyo. I instantly fell in love with the place! Well, coming back to America I couldn't find anything remotely close to it. One day, I was taking a stroll through the area and found myself staring at a copy of that same dish I had in Japan years ago! I was super excited so I scheduled a day for myself and got in pretty quickly. Staff were super cool, friendly and Knowledgeable! I loved that I was sitting at a bar, just like in Japan, and felt so relaxed and comfortable. The food is seriously a 10/10 and exactly like it was in Japan. Same flavors, same quality and all. I'm not trying to overhype this place but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you try it at least once! It is worth every bite. The place does get packed so reserve accordingly!

My little foodie heart and taste buds are beyond thrilled after experiencing Gyukatsu Rose's soft opening. The soft opening is running until 1/19/25 as of now and they open at 4pm. We arrived at the East End market around 3:45 and joined the queue. We ended up waiting until about 4:40pm to be seated. They offered drink service to those of us waiting for a seat. The queue forms outside at the middle entrance door close to Rion's. The service was very attentive and top notch. Remember that they can only sit a max of 9 people and groups of 2 at a time. The menu has an option of a single or double cutlet and the rest is set. Definitely give everything a try. All the dishes paired so well together. I highly recommend trying the steak at your preferred temp and then trying it raw. I really couldn't decide which way I preferred. It was beyond tender and flavorful. Try the different sauces or recommendations of your server. It's fun to play and try out all the flavors. My favorite was a dab of wasabi and then barely dipped in pink salt. They will offer you an extra dish to pour the salt into. Also don't forget, do not grill the steak with seasoning or sauce already on it as it will creature a sticky smokey mess. If you order sake inside, they will give you an option to pick your own cup. They had such a beautiful eclectic selection of sake cups to choose from. I loved how they offer to pour your first cup of sake for you as good luck! We took the matcha pudding home to go as my teen and myself were perfectly satisfied with the serving portion. The pudding was light and delicious. It's not overly sweet, which makes it a huge win for me. This is a definite repeat for us and look forward to going back sooner than later!

My husband and I went for their first day of soft opening and had a great experience. Wait was about 45 minutes when we got there, and they were only seating max 2 people per group, which was fine for us because that's all we were. At least one of you had to stand in line the entire time though, which I hope changes in the future. They try to make it as comfortable as they can though and offer drinks while you're out there. Once we were seated, we each ordered the single cutlet option. Everything that came out with the order was so tasty! In the end we were pretty full but had to get the matcha pudding to go and so glad we did. It was the perfect lightness but sweet treat we were looking for. Fantastic restaurant and will definitely be back!

This confusing concept is outclassed by its peers in every way. It requires a reservation, but is in a public space unlike similar experiences. The meat and cutlet are just not as crispy as you would want from this meal.

This experience was phenomenal. It was like fine dining but at an affordable cost. I loved being able to make the Katsu in front of me. The sauce on the salad was insatiable. the service was outstanding with them helping with all my questions. Their sake was really good too. The dessert though... best I've had!

What an incredible experience. We got to go before they officially open on the 16th but what an experience. At the moment they have a set menu for $29. Let me tell you, every item on my tray I loved. You received a Cabbage salad - which add all the Goma dressing to bc it's delicious, a barley rice and miso soup, a potato salad, house pickles and the famous Wagyu. This Wagyu has been flash fried to give it a nice light crunch breading. I sampled a couple pieces before putting it on our little grill and let me tell you, you can't ruin the meat no matter how long you cook it. I can't believe I got all that for $29. The mochi ice cream was also a lovely addition. The only catch with this place is it's 8 seats and no reservations at the moment. First come, first serve. May the odds be in your favor because you don't want to sleep on this place. Staff was also super friendly and very knowledgeable.
