The 32 Best Coffee Shops For Getting Work Done In Los Angeles

"Located on Eagle Rock Blvd. in Glassell Park, Habitat is a fairly quiet spot filled with locals doing some light reading and or people writing pilot scripts all day on their laptops. If you get here early, you might even be able to grab one of the shaded outdoor tables outside. But no matter what you’re here to do, you should definitely be taking advantage of the food menu. There’s an assortment of not-sad daily sandwiches and salads (get the cinnamon beet one), plus a full breakfast menu that goes until noon on weekdays. " - nikko duren, brant cox, sylvio martins

Absolutely love Habitat Cafe! The atmosphere is cozy yet modern, perfect for catching up with friends or getting work done. Their coffee is top-notch — smooth, rich, and always served with a smile. I tried the avocado toast and it was fresh and flavorful, beautifully plated too. The staff is super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Also, major plus: there’s plenty of natural light and great music that isn’t too loud. Definitely one of my new favorite spots in the area!

Google
This cafe is such a hidden gem! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with cozy seating and just the right background music. The coffee is rich and flavorful, and their pastries taste fresh and homemade. The staff are friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even better. Perfect spot for catching up with friends or enjoying some quiet time with a book.

Google
Cute cafe. Lots of healthy, balanced, protein focused meals. I was impressed. I took it as a sign from the universe when I found a gluten free crumb cake just chilling by the register. That + the Hawaiian hazelnut cold brew so yum!!

Priscilla Yazzie

Google
Great coffee! Excellent sandwiches breakfast or lunch. All the food is great. I had the Jersey sandwich and it was abt 2.5" thick!!

Andrea

Google
Matcha was tasty + croissant was delicious. I like the atmosphere. The person taking my order was not so friendly. The people in the back cooking were great & helpful.

Lots of seating, some power outlets, wifi, gender neutral accessible bathroom, free street parking in back, good vanilla latte & chocolate chip muffin & premade sandwiches

Google
I was passing through the area and made a stop at Habitat Coffee for a quick bite. It turned out to be such a great find! I ordered to-go a chipotle chicken sandwich & a large iced vanilla latte with oat milk. They heated it up for me & cut it in half, which you’ll need because this sandwich is pretty filling for one person. I actually ate the other half for dinner. I don’t know if it’s the kind of syrup or milk they use, but this coffee was amazing. The espresso wasn’t burnt and the vanilla wasn’t overly sweet either. Not to mention, it wasn’t ridiculously filled with ice cubes. It was perfect to boost me for the rest of my day. The only tricky part is probably parking since it’s street only. But I got lucky finding one in the neighborhood around the corner and it was worth the u-turns I made. 🤣

Google
Such a great spot to start the morning! The coffee is smooth, the pastries are fresh, and the staff are always welcoming with a smile. Cozy atmosphere that makes you want to sit and stay a while. Definitely my go-to café before work.

Yelp
The art of nature and birds created a nature-esque atmosphere like you're in a safari. The staff was nice and answered my question about the Mexican aspect of the drinks. I got the breakfast eggs with toast - they were so good! The basil was so fresh it had a nice kick and the eggs were so fluffy with the cheese, it achieved a level of fluffiness I haven't seen before. Would get it again! Also got the homemade cinnamon pop tart and the Mexican hot chocolate, they were also a nice addition to the breakfast!

Yelp
The vanilla latte itself is 5 stars. I lowkey hate the generic vanilla syrup that a lot of cafes use, but apparently they use vanilla powder here instead and it's SO MUCH BETTER. Breakfast tostada seemed like not a lot at first since it's just one tostada but it's piled high so it was enough to satiate me. Feels healthy. Their hot sauce is good.

Yelp
A great place to grab a lunch, snack, and cup of coffee. *Drip Coffee: Kona - light, medium, dark roasted and Macadamia. Comes in a ceramic mug for stay *Tea: The local Art of Tea brands *Customer Service: Super friendly *Bathroom: Clean *Internet: Yes *Seatings: Plenty *Power Outlet: Many *Parking: Plenty on streets

Yelp
Oh so delicious! Have been here many times for coffee, desserts, lunch, but today was Breakfast. Split the croissant sandwich with bacon and the Croque Madame. Sitting outside around the corner it was a little quieter than being right on the boulevard. Food was perfectly prepared. Order and tip at the counter. Take a number and expediter delivers to the table. $35 included tip for entrees.

Yelp
I was in the area after attending an event in the morning. My friend and I were hungry and decided to stop by here. It was a trek to get to this spot because we were coming down one side of the road and had to drive past a few lights before we could even make a U-turn. From there, it was a bit of a pain to find parking, but I get it, it's Los Angeles - parking can be a premium here. Once we were in, the first thing my friend and I noticed was how unique and eclectic this place is. You can see so many different types of decorations and different types of people (a great spot to people watch). I ordered a chai tea latte with regular milk and the chilaquiles. The chilaquiles were the red sauce and very flavorful with the beans and the eggs. The chai tea was mediocre at best. The food really made up for it. Would I come back, perhaps, but nothing I would drive out of the way for.
google avatar

Claudia S.

Yelp
Habitat coffee has the best and most authentic chilaquiles I've ever had in LA. They don't use chips and instead make them fresh. The chilaquile salsa was also spicy like my mom makes them so I was happy!!! I also love the rest of their menu like their scrambles; highly recommend. Of course their coffee is excellent but I can never order it without a meal here!!! Definitely my go to breakfast shop.

Yelp
Apparently this business has been open for more than 9 years and for the past 9 years I have driven past it. NOT TODAY! I was really surprised at how well put together this place is. Upon entering you find yourself with a large sitting area. Can comfortably accommodate a large group of 10. The ambiance is warm can bring your friends or family's. I came here for a cortado however I wasn't very impressed with it. It was missing something..... it didn't wow me enough to say I'd come back for it. However, as I was leaving .... My attention was drawn to the many variety of sandwiches they had on display. They all looked so good but my attention was drawn to the arugula, almond and pesto sandwich. My actual face when I took the first bite . The sandwich was slightly pressed to warm up the bread but it's not too hot as to warm up the veggies. The bread was slightly crunchy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. The start of the show was the cucumbers. The tho not sliced layers after layers of cucumber made this sandwich so crunch and fresh. The veggies were all tasty. The pesto spread . I had an explosion of flavors in my mouth that I immediately texted my friend to let him know to feed his wife this sandwich. Don't skip on this sandwich. Their service was also good. They were all very attentive and I loved that many locals visit this place. COME TEY THIS SANDWICH. Will not regret it!

Yelp
Habitat is a neighborhood friendly spot buzzing with locals. A place where in the warmth of the morning sun laughter fills the air as the barista brews happiness with a frothy embrace and conversations take place over muffins and lattes. Inside is spacious and cozy with comfy benches inviting you to sit and relax. Outside offers a haven for you and your pup to take in the fresh air. (They even have complimentary treats for your furry friend). The menu is diverse and caters to all - including vegan, gluten free, & paleo diets. They even have grab & go selections for convenience. I stopped by on a whim to satisfy my caffeine fix. The friendly locals greeted me when I walked in. The delicious pastries in the case caught my eye, especially the chocolate chip sandwich cookie with cream filling. Oh my! But, not today my friend. Not today. I stuck with the plan and ordered a Sugar Free Vanilla Latte with Almond Milk. The gal who took my order was darling. I absorbed the ambience while I waited - checking out the beautiful jewelry crafted by a local artist, the lovely greeting cards on display, and the announcements on the community bulletin board. Much like this place, my latte was delightful. Expertly crafted and well balanced with pleasant notes of vanilla and a creamy rich foam topping that invoked a happy dance. Needless to say, I will be back and next time that cookie will be contributing to my fat tushy. *Small parking lot or free street parking

Yelp
Habitat Coffee is a large, wood-accented neighborhood cafe offering coffee, breakfast, lunch & pastries. It's located on Eagle Rock Blvd in Glassell Park section of LA. This coffee shop has vast diverse items on their menu. Moreover, they have an abundant of healthy food and smoothie drinks. Its rustic indoor design, high ceiling and pretty artwork wall are an eye opener for first time visitor such as myself. I even notice a fellow customer, April, a young cute Latina, taking photos of the art-paintings on the north wall; and in the process I was caught in one of her photos winking like Romeo ;). Lol. Ok, let's get back on this review. The cafe's atmosphere is very peaceful and relaxing with good music playing on the background. I perused their menu and was hoping to get an Egg Croissant sandwich but sadly their kitchen was closed. I ordered a Tuna Melt Cheese Sandwich and a Red Eye Latte (12oz). Both were bloody good. Service was on point. Free Wifi. Plenty of seats (indoor/outdoor) in a very spacious setting. Prices seem fair for the area. Staff was cordial and competent. Free wifi and washroom. Ample of street parking. Overall, this is a nice cafe to chill with friends and/or coffee dates. I highly recommend you visit.

Yelp
This place has it all for a healthy breakfast/brunch and coffee. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Yelp
Always a solid experience at Habitat. The bodega sandwich is a must. It's flavorful, satisfying, and easily one of the best breakfast sandwiches around. I usually pair it with an iced latte, which is smooth, strong, and perfectly balanced. Their smoothies are also amazing. Super fresh and not overly sweet, which I love. The space is cozy and modern and the staff is always friendly and attentive. Whether you're hanging out or grabbing something to go, the vibe is relaxed and welcoming. Definitely one of my go to spots for great food, great drinks, and great energy.
google avatar

Elisa S.

Yelp
First time trying out this spot and I loved it! I think it has ample space for chatting it up with friends whilst enjoying a coffee and bite to eat. It's also pet friendly! And if you have children, I think it's accommodating given the amount of outdoor space as well. I had their vanilla latte and bacon egg croissant sandwich. I wasn't expecting the size of the sandwich which can easily be shared with 2 people, but I ate it all because I was hungry as heck!
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
This coffee shop didn't have any parking so we parked at a local park that was a block away and walked. Upon entering the vibe was cool and they had merch to buy. When we ordered we found that they could have been a bit more friendly, we felt that we were rushed to order and they didn't really care. We ordered the Hawaiian Hazelnut hot coffee, the Hawaiian hazelnut cold brew, and the chocolate chip cookie sandwich. We thought that both of the coffees were strong, but we enjoyed the after taste of coconut which we loved! The cookie sandwich was good, but it could have used a bit more filling to be more proportional! Overall it wasn't too bad of a visit. I don't think we would go back unless we were in the area, but if you're in the Eagle Rock area, maybe give this place a try!
google avatar

Amy G.

Yelp
I drive by this place almost everyday, and I finally decided to stop by and try some coffee and I'm glad I did. I got a caramel latte and really enjoyed it. The inside is super cute, and the staff was really nice. I'm definitely going to come again and try some food next time.
google avatar

Anika M.

Yelp
Nice place to check out. Great place for those who work from home. They have great drinks and food. The staff is very helpful and attentive. This place is a nice place to relax and grab a coffee or tea with a small bite. Turkey Provolone Melt- 10/10 Great snack for lunch and has flavor.
google avatar

Marie Elise O.

Yelp
What a great coffee and breakfast place!! My friend lives blocks away and I picked this up on my way over to her. Love the vibes, love the service, love the selection & the quality! All around would recommend. I had the True North signature smoothie. So yummy! Can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu!
google avatar

Deisy R.

Yelp
Ordered the matcha latte and a plain croissant. The matcha latte was quite good, did not disappoint. The plain croissant was quite large with a decent taste. This cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating and is dog friendly. They have little dog treats you can get for your pup. Service and ambiance were great!
google avatar

Claudia G.

Yelp
I love this local spot for so many reasons: -Matcha latte on point every time -Flat white ends up being more of a latte but still delicious -service on point EVERY time The extras They offer soy milk and coffee shops don't They have the tastiest and healthiest Vegan sandwiches and salad options The Pesto & arugula sandwich is delicious and filled with fresh veggies. Must be a zucchini fan. It also has roasted red peppers, which I don't like, but I do in this sandwich. Their vegan kale with dates and roasted carrot salad. It's also divine. This is a destination spot if you're not local local. Keep up the good work.
google avatar

Jesse R.

Yelp
Menu is uniqe here, so take a moment to look around and be sure to explore some of their options. While we didn't get a sandwich, I saw some of the others that were being ordered and they did look and sound tasty. Hazlenut cold brew was a nice refreshing drink on such a hot day. Minus one star as parking is tricky and limited. Staff was friendly and informative when ordering for a newbie. Decor was modern and gave a coffee shop vibe, plenty of room to sit and study, read a book, or swipe through your phone.
google avatar

Valerie V.

Yelp
Another cute coffee shop to study at in Eagle Rock! They have everything from good food, wifi, and easy parking. Although there's only a few indoor seating, there's several more seats outside. I ordered an iced matcha latte and J's bodega sammy. The sammy was rich with flavor, generous amount of sauce, and a perfect egg in it. The matcha wasn't my favorite, I'd give it a 2/5.
google avatar

Lena L.

Yelp
5 stars because best Hawaiian Hazelnut flavored coffee in town. I love the energy here unable to explain because not the Instagram look per se but something else. Like good zen. I focus well to write and read. Genuinely like this coffeeshop and owner an awesome woman who have had the privilege of chatting with. Of all the coffee places I tried around Northeast LA and Silverlake/Echo Park area, this is my fave.
google avatar

Ray B.

Yelp
My first time here and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast croissant sandwich. I'm not often in that neighborhood but when I am again I would love to return. BB
google avatar

Julia H.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to work in the neighborhood. Unpretentious, good food, good WiFi, good service. The only downside is that other people think so too and if you don't get one of the indoor tables early enough then good luck. Come before 11 if you want to post up and knock some stuff out.
google avatar

Prairie S.

Yelp
The skunks picture on the wall is the redeeming feature of this cafe/store which tries to be a "gourmet" bistro, a 7-11 quick stop, and a fully functioning cafe all at once, and thus, predictably fails at each. The check out counter flow has the same finesse as LAX airport. It's a clusterfcuk. Some are asking for complex notes on their menu food orders while others are trying to get a cup of coffee to go, and yet others are milling around the display of chips/snacks trying to buy snacks. The entire process is designed to fail, because orders are put through with no plan as to how to sequence them as they are all different categories of sale. One cup of coffee on Saturday morning cost me 1/2 hour. At which point I was given a free pastry by the man at the counter because he was so shamefaced. Unbelievably sloppy operation and as I said, the skunks on the wall are the best thing about this thoughtless operation.
google avatar

Kubo K.

Yelp
Came here after a long bike ride and wanted to get a snack with a friend. We ordered the small tuna sandwich that was pre made and delicious. I also ordered the lox bagel and it was such a huge disappointment. There was a few slices of dried lox and a small sample size cream cheese and some cucumber. It was so sad, I didn't even take a photo of it. The bagel was sub par and un toasted. I'll still come for that tuna sandwich but lesson learned... don't order the bagel.
google avatar

Dana L.

Yelp
A great coffee shop with good cold brew and good sandwiches. They also have more to-go salads, sandwiches and juices in their coolers if you want something super quick. The service is great and fast, and there's a nice environment to sit and restinside and outside. There's Wi-Fi and a single-stall restroom and jewelry from local artists for sale. It's basically got everything you might want in a coffee shop.
google avatar

Jazzy S.

Yelp
I got the Coffee protein shake (forgot the name) SO YUMMY! There's even free doggie treats for your pet.
google avatar

Tee T.

Yelp
I was dropping off my car for an oil change and it needed a place to get some coffee. The auto shop recommended this place. Took a little walk and found it very easily. If you're not from around this area, you will probably think that it's in a bad neighborhood. It used to be but with all the gentrification it's starting to become an up-and-coming area. My friend and I ordered a croissant with eggs, a grilled cheese, two coffees and a turkey and provolone to go. $45. The croissant was delicious, eggs, nice and soft and a wonderful flavor with the cheese and cherry tomatoes. Good job. The grilled cheese, although, on some pretty homemade fancy sourdough, was a little flavorless. I'm not sure they can rely on the cheese adding all the flavor. It needs a little something. Coffee was nice and hot and for the mild roast it was spot on. Although, on the pricey side as far as croissants go, I've seen a lot worse. They have a refrigerator case with a lot of taco food that looks very fresh and tasty. Do you have your choice of all kinds of fun snacks. And smoothies. This place is super cute. The staff is very friendly and insured. We had a good experience. You can sit outside if you don't mind a busy street as it's right where the offramp of the freeway exits. A little bougie for me, but a good place to stop and get coffee and breakfasts when I'm in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
Fun little coffee place in Eagle Rock. Good service. Generous portions. Would definitely stop buy again!

Cayla M.

Yelp
Chill place to have brunch with your partner or to do some work. Staff is friendly and welcoming and they have prepacked meals AND freshly made meals for your liking. Their matcha latte wasn't mixed that well, making the drink separate fast.
google avatar

Maggie T.

Yelp
Cozy space to get coffee & lunch. Stopped by while visiting a work site. Another guest recommended the Cubano and it didn't disappoint. Their homemade hot sauce was really good. We also got the Holiday sandwich which was delicious as well. Service was great too. We will definitely bookmark to visit again when in the area!
google avatar

Maddy T.

Yelp
This place definitely left a good impression on me and I'm sure you'll love it too. I needed some last min coffee for my drive back home to not pass out and they delivered! I called ahead of time because I had questions about what flavor additions they had and the worker was so helpful to list every single one! I stopped by 30 mins before closing expecting to be served some last min coffee but they exceeded expectations! I got the sugar free vanilla iced latte with non fat milk and mmmmmm perfect. The coffee wasn't diluted at all, it had a nice bold flavor that was smooth with no acid after taste and had a perfect amount. Of syrup and milk. They also have take out premade salads and sandwiches that's great for a quick lunch option which I will be coming back for!!!
google avatar

Brian William K.

Yelp
My husband and I have been going to Habitat since day 1. Ambiance is so great & plenty of outdoor seating. Highly recommend the iced latte's, croissant egg sandwhich, breakfast tostada, J's bodega sammy & bacon burrito. For lunch the turkey & provolone melt, cubano sandwhich and Jersey city salad. The chicken salad wrap is also delicious! The staff is very friendly, accommodating and nothing but good vibes. Special shout out to Lucy, Carlo & Jenna Jenna, the owner has always been very delightful and welcoming to our family & friends. We absolutely love our neighborhood Habitat!
google avatar

Michael N.

Yelp
Stopped by for an iced latte, and I loved it! The vibe here is super chill and perfect for getting some work done or just relaxing. The whole place has a welcoming, laid-back energy. I'll definitely be back, and I highly recommend it for anyone in the area looking for a great coffee spot!
google avatar

Lauren N.

Yelp
Been coming to Habitat since I moved in a few years ago and I'm happy that they've maintained their good customer service, food quality, and support of the community. It's a great place to work out of, never too hard to find a table inside as people cycle in and out quickly and ample outlets + A/C. Even in the summer, their outdoor seating is naturally well-shaded by the building, so it doesn't get too hot until noon. I've primarily had their croissants, bagels, packaged salads and drink-wise, drip coffee and lattes have never steered me wrong. Love that their coffees are bold and never watered down.
google avatar

Yelp
I feel like I have just stepped into the Pacific Northwest. Migrating geese and ducks line the walls, and animal painting and dark wood are everywhere. Highly dog friendly, the place has cheeky dog bone treats in multiple locations. 5/5 just off the incredible decor and immense selection of gluten and dairy free items. They have a gluten free muffin and other pastries, and tons of almond flour and vegan spreads. Stevia, alternative sugar. Ratings: Ambiance: 100/10 Ease of seating/ speed of service: 10/10 Vegan options: 10/10 Gluten free options: 7/10 Low carb options: 6/10 Overall deliciousness: 10/10 Pricing: $$ Seating: indoor and outdoor, perfect for small groups or working remote Parking: in the back and street Liquor License: no

Yelp
Haven't been here in awhile because our route has changed, however the kid and I went a Sunday a couple of weeks ago before volleyball practice. Uhm $1.50 for oatmilk is outrageous and 35 cents for a splash of milk is crazy. The other alternative milks were 75 cents or a dollar which is bananas to me. I wish coffee shops would build it into their pricing, but this is definitely a peeve of mine. My son picked out a pesto sandwich from their Grab and Go which was dry and he was disappointed that it was with a red pepper-not a tomato, but he ate it. He said never again because his chai was just okay. I do like their selection of candy and chocolates at the cash wrap, there are places to sit inside and outside, parking is easy, and the staff is friendly.
google avatar

Joe T.

Yelp
The food here is outstanding! To top it off, great value! The place never disappoints, and pooch friendly.
google avatar

Anna Nicole F.

Yelp
Very comfortable? Nice place and the Stadf are great and very accommodating. Food was EXCELLENT . The chocolate whoopie pie for desert was delicious
google avatar

Pierre H.

Yelp
Once again, Habitat started my Saturday off with a delectable croissant sandwich and raspberry pop tart, and of course their fantastic coffee. These guys never disappoint. In the countless times I've been here, I have yet to be disappointed with their food. Their service is also incredible because Habitat employs only the best people to help us get our weekend started properly! One last thing, the vibe is always so chill and relaxing--even when really busy, there's never a sense of hurry up! Keep up the incredible work guys!!
google avatar

Allison L.

Yelp
This is my first time here. Drove by couple of times and definitely had to check it out. So glad I made the dive. This place is amazing and so accommodating. I think the worker saw me struggling to read and really helped me find the Menüs and options. They even came around the counter to help me see the gluten free option which is huge because I really don't see well. So positive. So friendly. Very lively atmosphere. Great spacing of tables. Doesn't feel like we're on top of each other. Love the hand sanitizer at the entrance asking to sanitize your hands before entry. Did I mention they have a large gluten free options. Like sandwiches, desserts, and even a Muffin. So many options which isn't common. I had the chicken salad with pepper Jack cheese on a gluten feee bread. Absolutely amazing. They heated up and it might have burned a little but don't even care it was so good. I also got the jasmine pearl tea to accompany this Sammy. Great flavors. Is actually sweet and creamy with my add of almond milk. Overall great experience and I'm coming back!
google avatar

Oliveea P.

Yelp
Food was good. I ordered the breakfast tostada only thing that was missing was hot sauce to add on top but over all delicious. My son ordered the breakfast bacon burrito which he really enjoyed. Except we had to grab it ourselves from the refrigerator because hand it to the cashier , she was also unaware of what was in stock and had me walk over and look myself , I quote in her words, "I don't know what we have, you need to look " which I felt a little rude and clueless on her behave. On the other hand the barista was amazing she brought our drinks and smiled, the vanilla latte was delicious. The tables were clean and there wasn't a Waite time to sit and eat our breakfast . Thanks !
google avatar

Joel M.

Yelp
Great service, great coffee, great sandwiches, great choice of 90's hits coming from the speakers! I'm a local to the area and come here regularly as it is affordable and has great ambiance.

Yelp
absolutely fabulous cafe! my americano was delicious and ready in no time, and my apple croissant was huge and perfectly flaky. the earthy, eclectic vibe was cozy and inviting. i had a lovely conversation with (what i assume was) the owner--such a sweetheart! definitely going back to try the zucchini muffin made from her mother's recipe

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
My family and I tried this place for the first time today. I received a gift card for Christmas, so I was looking forward to trying their items. I ordered an iced vanilla latte with whole milk and a chocolate chip cookie. My dad ordered an iced white chocolate mocha latte with whole milk. We enjoyed our drinks, and the chocolate chip cookie was very good. The employees are kind and welcoming. There was also a variety of sandwiches that looked delicious. We'll try one of those next time!

Anya K.

Yelp
Best ciabatta bread in the city! Try the chipotle chicken sandwich and the true north smoothie it will make your day. Top notch cafe with wifi & plenty of vegan/gf options!

Helo Hair Design H.

Yelp
Love it. The best "pop tart " ever.. A must try. All the pastries are so wonderful. Jenna is such a nice person easy to have a talk and laugh with

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite coffee shop in all of Northeast LA! The food, the Customer Service the vibes are all beautiful! I got nothin but love for Jenna and her team of amazing employees.

Alex A.

Yelp
The best coffee shop on the East side! Jenna the owner is such a sweet person. She has created a great space to get work done & her products are truly top notch. Don't hesitate to try out her homemade sandwiches & drinks!
