"Haewah Dal is an upscale Korean prix fixe restaurant in Long Beach, and on paper, one of the more interesting places to open in the area in a long time. Unfortunately, the in-restaurant experience still has a long way to go. You will eat some good food here, but there are simply too many uneven dishes and flat-out misses to warrant the price point (there are three prix fixe options, ranging from $60-130 per person). They do offer a more casual a la carte menu, so if you’re shopping along 2nd St. in Belmont Shores and in the mood for Korean food, Haewah Dal is a good place to keep in mind." - Brant Cox

Hands down some of the best Korean fare I've eaten. From the Soju and Orange wine to the radish wraps, Korean fried chicken, bulgogi and kimchi fried rice, this is a restaurant I could visit over and over again and never tire of the food. Owned and run by the same couple who operate Poke Pola next door, Haewah Dal is a little slice of yum in Belmont Shore that is unlike any other. I recommend getting all of the items I had. You'll have a lot of leftovers, but it's worth the splurge.

Okay my Foodies! This place is GREAT!!!! My wife and I have been waiting to eat here. I'm so excited that a "FINE DINING " restaurant is finally open and you can enjoy a great meal prepared by a "Great" chef. Please forget about the traditional Korean BBQ places because you will not get that. You will have an experience that is to be remembered. The owners, Hahn and Mia are the sweetest people and take great pride in their restaurants and the people they employ. The executive chef is phenomenal and in my opinion, he is Michelin star rated chef. The food was unbelievable and the preparation spectacular. From the time we walked up, we were greeted and escorted to our table by a very professional staff. Candace and Cisco our wait staff was informative and knowledgeable of everything that came out of the kitchen. Now, I absolutely "HATE" tomatoes. There was a marinated tomato dish with a palette cleaning drink with apples that was so delicious. From ths point, it got "BETTER". My wife and I had the 10 course tasting menu. Of course, we didn't stop there. We also ordered the Skirt Steak, A La Carte and my wife was in heaven. The tasting menu is enough for two people. It's fine dining and not gluttony! The dishes are presented with STYLE! Here's the great part, the menu changes every two months. It's worth every cent! I have absolutely nothing bad to say. Even the desserts were fabulous! Please treat yourself to a great dining experience. If it's too pricey, Poke Pola, is right next door. Same owners and quality ingredients! By the way, it's an open kitchen. You see what you are getting and watch a team of Chefs prepare your meal!

Oh my!!!! Some of the BEST Korean food. Staff was very attentive and friendly so if not sure what to order, just ask. Everything is made in house. In Korean fashion, had the refillable small plates: kimchi, mushrooms, potatoes salad, cucumber and green beans. Oh, and had yummy grapefruit soju. For apps, got the spicy Korean chicken (highly recommend-not spicy at all), and radish wraps. Both FULL flavor. So good. Next got kimchi fried rice. Loved this, but you gotta like kimchi and seaweed. Last was bolgogi....making my mouth water just thinking about it.

The pork ribs were delicious! We asked for seconds on everything served and left satisfied. Brian was our host and was extremely kind. I'll be coming here from now on.

Lovely safe seating on the patio with fun people watching on 2nd street and fantastic food. Great place. One of the best Japchae ever! We will definitely come back. You should make a point to come and support this lovely local gem.

We stopped here on a whime after tooling around 2nd st for a while. There was one other person having dinner but otherwise dead. The restaurant smelled of cleaner, not of food. I had the Pork Soondubu Jjigae and my companion had the Beef Bulgogi. My soup had Zero salt. Like, none. It tasted very under flavored and kinda flat. The Bulgogi was in large pieces like a flank steak and also tasted under seasoned, like it wasn't marinated for very long or with enough seasoning. It was cooked well though, and butter tender, a knife was not needed to cut it. The kimchi itself was bad. It tasted so heavily of horseradish. That is not a flavor anyone expects while eating kimchi. The dumplings were pretty clearly frozen and not house made which is surprising considering the price. The best thing I ate there was actually the green beans they brought out with the little side bites spread. Those were very very good.

Really nice, cozy spot located in the heart of Belmont Shore. There is plenty of parking in the back and in the side streets. The owner of the restaurant actually own several other restaurants in the strip of varied cultures; and they all make great quality food. They also have a great view with both indoor and outdoor seating accommodations. It was me and 2 others that joined me for lunch. Among which we ordered was the Rad' Shrimp Wraps in the Chilled section of the menu which stood out the most. It tasted just as good as it looks, and it had very generous portions, too. It was also a dish that is very easy to share. The cheese cake is very delicious as well - you can actually buy an entire cheesecake from them, too! I look forward to coming back again with friends.
