Google
A treasure restaurant in the area. Authentic Chinese cuisine. Lunch menu with rice soup and a meat/veggie choice for just $10 during weekdays. Everything we got was tasty.

Yeah this just was not good. Service was crazy! I ordered shrimp dumplings that were so hot when I told the server there was a 5 minute debate about level of hot. Ordered hot water because the utensils were not that clean, which never came. The Grandma noodles were blah. Believe what others have said about the service. Will not be coming back.

Google
Went there with low expectations but everything tastes good. Portions were a little small compared to other Chinese restaurants we go to, typically. The eggplant dish was excellent.

Customer service was very rude over the phone for lunch. It reflected in the food which was not as good as the previous times I'd been. I've been a recurring customer for over a year. This was the best authentic Chinese food until today. I was disappointed by the lack of service over the phone to place a pickup order, creating a different vibe than before.

Joe was very professional. He greeted me at the door and was very friendly. He helped me with the menu as this was my first time coming in the restaurant. The (Orange chicken and steamed rice)is delicious and I will be coming back soon. Thanks

Having been to both a dinner and lunch service I am definitely satisfied with each experience. Prompt friendly service, an authentic hot and flavorful meal (If you like spicy they make it hot!) with a decent drink menu. The prices are understandable and the lunch special is definitely worth it! Your best bet is to find parking AWAY from the Starbucks 👍🏾

I am really disappointed with my server. When I came in, he look at me like suspicious man with one eyebrow up haha that was funny. But he kept look at me very uncomfortable until I sat down. Then, I sat down in a small table for two people. I understood if it was busy, but there was only 5 people and one gentlemen sitting down on 4 people table. And they also try to take your dish away when you are not done. The gentlemen next to me was shocked. Also when they brought your dish, you have to make space on your table or he will wait you until you move it for him to place the dishes. Btw, if you ask for extra chopstick, he will serve it right away taking out from his butt pocket. You can check the photo. I asked the name, and he is not willing to give it to me his name, which he said he is affraid of losing his job. I told him I dont want to make a scene so just give me the name. He refused to give his name. We called for manager and He said there was no manager here. The server didnt apologized and walked out from us.

We’ve been loyal customers of this restaurant for years and always appreciated the food and atmosphere. Unfortunately, our recent visits have been disappointing. The staff no longer seems welcoming or friendly, which makes the dining experience uncomfortable. On top of that, the food has become quite average—nothing like what it used to be. It’s disheartening to see a place we once loved lose its charm. We truly hope the owners read this and address the change in staff behavior. A little kindness and hospitality go a long way. Sadly, we’ve decided to stop coming for now.

Yelp
Great food, excellent quality and good service. 5 stars. We will back for sure Mom and i both loved the eggplant appetizer

Yelp
It pains me to write this. It does! truly! I've been a regular at Little Bangkok on Cheshire Bridge, for, yikes, 20+ years. They even knew my preferred table: by the window. Years ago, a newer staffer was showing me to another spot, when one of the long timers gently corrected him. I've spoken briefly, enthusiastically with Madame Chef. Always gracious and friendly. A couple of weeks ago, mid January, I met friends there for lunch. I was greeted, seated, and as usual, ordered Thai iced tea. I had no idea what the bright orange, dense beverage might have been! I've not seen anything like it. Not at my beloved Little Bangkok, nor any of the Thai restaurants I've visited in (very occasionally) Atlanta, Decatur, N. Carolina, Manhattan! NYC!, of COURSE! Not Kansas. I took a couple of sips. No! No! No!!!! I spoke discreetly to the newer person: "Excuse me, please what is this? "Thai Iced Tea" Humph! Piffle! Later, I asked one of the long timers. He confirmed, and offered to make another. I declined. I'll return, of course, it's been my go-to since the early 90's. I certainly did not whine nor did I kvetch to my dining companions. They were enjoying their meals, our time together. Yes, of course, I'll return, and soon. One, certainly not this one, bail after one disappointment. Hmmm. Maybe I should google: Thai Ice Tea Little Bangkok! Next week, I'm sure. Stand by! Liz

Yelp
We shop in that area every weekend and have noticed the sign for a good while. I only discovered what it was until I searched for Chinese on google on day on the couch. The restaurant is a hidden gem in a hidden little location. Who knew you could get such authentic szechuan food in Decatur ! As i tend to do I over oder when I discover a new restaurant and I am SO glad I did. Salt & pepper calamari was unique in that they were these crispy strips of lightly coated calamari. Just the right amount of heat to keep you coming back. Dry Fried Cauliflower was similar to the Pepper Salt calamari. A light crispy coating on cauliflower with scallions and cilantro. Our only vegetable :) Xia Long Bao was as good as any place on Buford Highway. The warned it would take 15-20+ min which ended up perfect as we had them to round out the meal. Steamed pork buns were very good, not the char sui that I am used to but a ground pork with vegetables and spices. Chongquing Fried Chicken was most definitely the star of the show. Have never heard of this but WOW this was delicious. This was perfectly spiced where you felt the heat but could not resist going back for more ! Service was great, always someone there if you needed something. Atmosphere is clean and stylish. Will definitely be coming back for a more traditional dinner but I am so glad to have found this place !

Yelp
I was recommended to this place by a few friends so I finally made it here on a Saturday night to find plenty of parking spots and it to be about half-way full. They have indoor and outdoor seats available that is fully enclosed and what I believed to be space heaters too. My friends and I shared their steamed pork buns, grandma's noodles, and soup dumplings for starters. My favorite had to be the noodles because of the simplicity and texture of the noodles. I also enjoyed the fluffiness of the bun but found the pork flavor to be underwhelming, and this is coming from someone who loves pork. Soup dumplings were juicy but also lacked stronger aromatics. For entrees, we shared their sesame chicken plus their chicken with lettuce wraps. Both chicken dishes were well prepared and served with individual bowls of rice so you don't have to order and pay for it. Overall, I had a good experience. The staff were friendly and had a lot of additional personality I was not expecting. I would definitely come for their noodles and chicken dishes again but more so interested in trying other items from their menu. I recommend giving this place a try!

Yelp
While in the area one Sunday, I decided to give Hai a try. Their website is user-friendly for ordering online, and my order was ready in 20 minutes. Parking was easy, spots in front of the restaurant filled up fast, but there was plenty of parking in the shopping center. When I walked in to pick up my order, the hostess was friendly and handed me my food right away. The ambiance was intimate with dim lighting. My entrée was the Kung Pao Shrimp and Scallops. It came with plenty of large shrimp and scallops that were cooked to perfection. It was spicy and very flavorful. The meal was pricey, but you get what you pay for, and I feel it was worth the price. Great lunch or date night spot. I definitely plan to come back and hopefully get the chance to dine in.

Yelp
I came to Hai on a very chilly Tuesday morning. Upon entry, we were greeted and seated fairly quickly. The servers were friendly and very patient with my party of 2 as we pondered their menu. We got the [Bang Bang Shrimp], [Grandma's Noodle], [Dry Fried Eggplant], [Crispy Fresh Milk] and [Szechuan Chili Wontons]. [Bang Bang Shrimp] * 10/10 dish. They give you SO much shrimp for just $13. Absolutely flavorful and a bit spicy. Perfect small dish for everyone! [Grandma's Noodle] * 9/10 dish. This dish is not that spicy (which is wonderful). It has a slight kick and the noodles were perfectly cooked. The portion is also very big, very good for large parties. [Dry Fried Eggplant] * 9/10 dish. The dry fried eggplant reminds me of french fries. Theres a lot of cilantros and peppers, which I love. Each bite is so crispy and since it's eggplant, it is much healthier than regular potato fries! [Szechuan Chili Wontons] * 10/10 dish. These wontons are SPICYYY. Like numbing spicy. The wontons are filled with a lot of meat and the presentation is spectacular. I would absolutely get this if you're a spice-lover. [Crispy Fresh Milk] * 10/10 dish. These small crispy milk smells amazing/like sweet bread. It is served with sugar and condensed milk. Let me tell you, ITS SO GOOD. It makes the perfect dessert to finish off the heavy savory entrees. Please get this item. It is heavenly, I am lactose and I absolutely adored this.

Yelp
The best Chinese restaurant ITP?! Honestly I can see it. I think I may need to be in person to further evaluate though a take out order is solid. I think the biggest let down was the salt and pepper calamari which felt like they had put it in the microwave and then packed it up. The crispy eggplant tasted great though was not crispy, though it probably steamed from the take out packing, so not much to do there. I loved the hot and sour soup and numbing chicken! The stand outs from my order were flavorful and not spicy. I loved the Sichuan numbing flavor and the chicken had a good balance of flavor, moistness, and balanced well with the veggies. I need a round 2 in person though take out was solid. Definitely intrigued by the menu and what I've tried so far!

Yelp
The Food is 5 Stars. The service is 4 Stars. They easily could rectify this. The value is 5 Stars. The Setting is 5 Stars. The bathrooms are 5 Stars. The location is 5 Stars. Go for the lunch special Monday thru Friday. Except holidays. 11-3. They are also open every day. 5 stars. Love it here.

Shamie D.

Yelp
Met a friend here for lunch on a weekday, was not too busy early on. We were able to score a spot outside on the patio with lots of natural sunlight. Service was prompt and friendly. Keep coming back because of the consistent and high quality of food. Like to try new things each time, but can't really go wrong with Kung Pao chicken. Mapo tofu is tasty, and grandma's noodles are delish! This time I tried the chicken with scallion was not disappointed. Check it out if you haven't been!

Darren H.

Yelp
Returning to this place, my review remains the same, the food is good here, probably one of the best in this area. But I still stand by my original review and now that they have raised prices on everything, This has become less of a choice.

Carla M.

Yelp
My daughter and I went to Hai again yesterday I can not Bragg enough on this restaurant food always great and hot and always the best customer service and I love the sweet tea, I always get the same thing but it's so good.

Aureia B.

Yelp
General Tso was very flavorful and spicy, I just wish it was crispy fried harder. Very good though.

Jeremiah B.

Yelp
Food wasn't that great, will not return. The waiter barely understood my request and I had to repeat myself several times.

Shami P.

Yelp
I came here for a pickup order of the hot and numbing chicken. The gentleman who took my order was nice and quick. Food was ready in about 10-15 min and it was still hot when I got home. The flavor was good but chicken was a little chewy. Inside and outside seating was available. Small spot but was very busy!

Yelp
Spectacular Great Welcome Excellent Veg dish - eggplant spicy can get mild Pan fried veg dumplings tasty and fresh Worth ride from Fayetteville to Decatur Thank you

Yelp
Since I've been to Hai probably 10 more times since my last review I figured I should update it. Everything I said in the last one still stands--I still think this is the best Chinese food ITP and makes my life so much easier, since I get sad if I don't have Chinese food regularly but also can't be bothered to drive out to Duluth that frequently. At this point we go to Hai probably once a month, and is without a doubt our most regularly/frequently visited restaurant in Atlanta. We have "our order" at this point, which usually consists of grandma noodles, vegetarian steamed dumplings, mapo tofu, either dry fried string beans or dragon eggplant, and the salted duck egg custard buns. We know these are going to hit the spot every single time. This is great for two really hungry people--usually us, and we're so stuffed we feel like we have to roll ourselves back to the car--or three normal people. Outside of our typical order, though, I've also tried some other things that I think are really good! The scallion bubble pancake is a fun appetizer to share. It doesn't really taste that scallion-y and is not like a typical flaky layered scallion pancake at all, but it's a fun starter and the curry sauce it comes with is tasty. The dan dan noodles are really savory, and the fact that they manage that without meat (which is typically in the dan dan sauce) is quite impressive. The hunan style fish is also excellent, with such tender fish. I'm sure I'll have more updates at some point since we come here all the time. I love this place!

Yash A.

Yelp
Food wise - ribs and calamari were amazing! Good flavors. Singapore curry noodles were bland(not too happy with that) Service was quick, easy and a great experience When I went there weren't many people. Might have been an odd time, but overall was good!!

Yelp
If you like some good Chinese cooking, this is the spot to go. Deciding to have lunch here and it was delcious. Menu had a large variety of different options. From small plates to larger entrees. Got to try a few dishes off the menu. I had the grandma noodles, spicy calamari, garlic cucumber salad, and the hot and numbing flounder stone pot. I enjoyed the grandma noodles, thick long pieces of noodles drenched in hot chili oil. It was too spicy but I did added the sauce from the flounder spice we had. The flounder hotpot had a nice kick in the spice. Great with rice and the seasoning was amazing. The garlic cucumber salad was refreshing. The calamari was okay, I would pass up on that dish. It had great flavor, but wasn't crispy. Attentive staff member and food came out pretty quick.

David S.

Yelp
Our first trip to Hai was in November last year. The wait staff is attentive and the food comes out fast hot, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Now that we are back in Decatur we hit up the place this weekend and It was even better. Hack, If you don't mind sitting in the covered patio area the wait time is much quicker. There are propane heaters to warm you up. My favorite was the Flounder, H4 on the menu.

Ciara M.

Yelp
Hai is my go to when I'm wanting something quick, easy and in the neighborhood. I love going here on solo dining dates and also with a group of friends. The food transports well if you're considering eating at home. I always get the Wuhan sesame noodles & the stir fried cabbage. The bubble pancake is delicious and served with a side of some sort of curry. Also I looove the egg drop soup!

Keith F.

Yelp
This restaurant was pretty good in many ways. The highlights included the hot plate of cabbage and the Singapore noodles. The jasmine tea was also good although nothing more than a standard teabag. The hot plate of cabbage was served sizzling. It was perfectly seasoned with a slightly spicy sauce. It was a generous sized serving. I would definitely recommend this dish if you like cabbage My Singapore noodles were ordered extra spicy but they were not. That being said, they still had an excellent flavor and texture. Cooked Al dente the noodles kept calling me back bite after bite. There were plenty of small shrimp in the dish as well as a variety of veggies. This dish would also fall into the I'd order it again column. The scallion bread was neat to look at but was quite plain tasting and too oily for my liking. The curry sauce it came with was alright. Service was attentive. I would come back if in the area. Many of the other dishes coming out looked worth trying as well.

Yelp
A good friend first mentioned this place to me back about 6 months ago... I have a set of three Sichuan places that I frequent every couple of weeks so I was not interested in trying a new one. FINALLY, I got to try this place for a weekday lunch as I was in the area. I have been missing out! Instead of lunch specials, we ordered four items from the main menu and each one was a better version than my frequently-visited places! The bill was $75 for the four dishes ... in line with my established set of Sichuan restaurants. I always order Mapo Tofu when I first try out a Sichuan restaurant. This one did not disappoint. Mapo Tofu is made differently from restaurant to restaurant and thus, it is based on personal preference. Hai's version is tangy and spicy with just the right amount of numbing Sichuan peppercorn. The thick sauce that matches well with steamed rice. I ordered the Fish Filet w. Chili Pepper thinking it is fried. The fish was steamed and contrasted well with the other spicy dishes we had (Hunan Style Chicken and Crispy Sliced Pork Knuckle) Decor is very clean, relaxing, and modern. Staff is quite friendly. Parking is a bit tough as is with most strip malls in Decatur. Overall, an excellent experience ... this place is now part of my "Sichuan Hitlist". I look forward to my next trip back!

Matias B.

Yelp
One of those spots you pass by a lot until one day you finally have the time to try. While the food itself was good and reasonably priced the decor was a little outdated. Service was good and we were constantly being helped. Would recommend takeout if in the area

Nicola L.

Yelp
I've never been to China, so my judgement of authentic Chinese food, I'm sure is not credible. But I liked the food, and appreciated the service even more. Location: Located in the suburban plaza off of church street, directly across from Starbucks. So beware parking is a jungle. You may have to park closer to Walmart or Ross. Because, let's be honest no one wants to get in the way of a Starbucks customer! Lol Inside: They have inside and outdoor seating. It is a small restaurant, but it's quaint. Staff are masked, and very polite. Food: I ordered grandma noodles with added tofu (basically flat rice noodles), spring rolls, and vegetable fried dumplings. Let me add whoever grandma is back there making these noodles, can she adopt me? Please!Good amount of everything and I was famished. Spring rolls come with a sweet and sour sauce and dumplings come with two sauces - not sure one could of been a tamarind sauce the other was definitely soy sauce. My only critique is if your squeamish with oil, the noodles were a little on the oily side, and there aren't a lot of vegetables. So if you need that let them know to add on. Seven daughters moscato - yum. Service: Those guys are pretty cool in my book. Proper greeting, food was coming at a nice flow, and they kept me hydrated. And when it was time to leave, I received proper salutations from everyone. Also, their tv promotes their culture and cuisine. I love that. Almost made me want to go home and bust out a wok and try out some of those techniques. Who am I fooling!!! Definitely will be back.

Wendy D.

Yelp
Wow this is the best Chinese restaurant I've been to in Atlanta so far! Every dish we got was delicious so major points for consistency. The eggplant, the flat noodles, the pigs feet, all amazing. The pumpkin pancakes at the end were great too! This is a definite place to return to. Service was fine, and nice ambiance to hang with friends. Inside is very clean and modern, parking was easy peasy.

Megan B.

Yelp
I stumbled upon a recommendation for Hai by Atlanta Eats and decided to give it a try. My mother and I went and upon arrival were seated quickly. There were only two other occupied tables in the restaurant. It appeared as though they did a tremendous amount of takeout business. We ordered an entrée each and an appetizer of soup dumplings. Good soup dumplings typically take extra time to cook so the waiter asked if we would like our food before or after. I appreciated him asking and decided to wait for the soup dumplings first and then get our food when we finished the dumplings. I anticipated the wait so it was no problem. The soup dumplings were very enjoyable. They were hot and fresh. I enjoyed the flavor, too. After we finished our appetizer, they brought out rice for us both and my entrée, Furong Chicken. At this point, no one else was left in the restaurant. We waited a few minutes and still no entrée for my mother. Our original waiter never came back to check, but one of the men who dropped off the first dish noticed probably five minutes later that we still did not have the second entrée. He went back to check and said it should be coming out soon. It took at least 10 minutes between both entrées, possibly even longer. This was very disappointing as the restaurant was not busy. I was almost finished eating by the time her entrée came and honestly that is only because I really took my time. She ordered the Gold Mountain Chicken. Both dishes were very delicious. I took a trip to the restroom before leaving and although it had ample space, it really could use a good floor cleaning. Since the restaurant did not have a lot of traffic when we were there and there were several workers standing around, I really thought the restroom should have been in better shape. It was hard to decide upon a rating because the food was great, but the service and restroom brought the stars down. If half stars were allowed I probably would have went with 3.5. The food was really tasty, but I don't know that I will go out of my way to stop here again. If I am in the area and craving Chinese, maybe.

Scott L.

Yelp
This restaurant is a place you need to go to if you are ever in Georgia. They have a large menu selection and and all 4 dishes I ordered were outstanding. The grandma noodles had to have been the best noodle dish I've had in a very long time and the wontons had amazing spice and flavor. A must visit place on your list.

Rachael H.

Yelp
I actually haven't stopped thinking about this since I had it a few weeks ago. I ordered takeout. I got the Wuhan dry hot noodles, mapo tofu, and some shrimp shumai. It was absolutely delicious!!! The noodles were super spicy and vinegary, and a huge portion. I have a large appetite and was able to make like four meals out of this. Tofu was creamy, spicy and flavorful. Perfect. The dumplings were so juicy and filled with shrimp, and came with a really good dipping sauce. I can't wait to go back!

Kiara N.

Yelp
Over the past few years, I've been pretty turned off of Chinese food and honestly I couldn't even tell you why. My husband would often suggest it as a dinner option, but soon learned not to ask anymore as he knew the answer would be no. A friend of mine spoke highly of Hai which immediately sparked my interest since her husband adopts a plant based lifestyle and I often opt for similar dishes. So that friend and I decided to have a lunchtime catch up at Hai. It was the perfect lunchtime spot. Service was quick and the food was pretty delish. I ordered the General Tso's Tofu and my friend - the Mongolian beef. I thoroughly enjoyed the tofu, though thought it mimicked orange rather general tso's. I was also hoping to have more veggies than the 3 broccoli florets that were on the plate, but it was all good. They seem to be pretty accommodating with substitutions, so I'll definitely be back to try some other dishes hopefully with tofu.

Dominic E.

Yelp
Recently came ITP for an event and came to Hai for a late lunch...actually tried to have lunch at Lucky Thai but they didn't do dine in and I'm glad they did not. Lunch at Hai was fantastic! I was starving so lots of food was ordered. Scallion Bubble Pancake, Stir Fried Cabbage on Iron Plate, Steam Pork Bun, and Hot and Numbing Flounder Stew. I've never had Scallion Bubble Pancake before and didn't know what to except. It was a puffed bread structure that came with a curried dipping sauce. The sauce was nice and flavorful but the pancake itself was lacking in flavor. I expected more scallion flavor. But it had great texture and held sauces nicely. Everything else was packed full of flavor. The steamed pork bun was delicious and fresh, the meat filling moist and plentiful, the dipping sauces delicious! The cabbage was amazing! It came out sizzling hot and was aggressively seasoned and included sliced chili peppers for that added pop of heat. I will order this every time I come here. Lastly, the Hot and Numbing Flounder Stew is an absolute flavor bomb and the fish wonderfully cooked and so flaky! Spicy, salty, umami...it's all there. I can't wait to try this place out again. I was torn between trying the fish stew and the Black Bean Fried Chicken and am anxious to see how good it will be. Service was friendly and extremely fast.

Diamond R.

Yelp
Recently had the shrimp fried rice and it was sooooooo good! They gave me some brown sauce and that just set it off to the next level. This is my new go to in my new neighborhood.

Janet W.

Yelp
As soon as we get here, I put an order for the soup dumplings as they are a delicacy that takes 20 minutes to prepare and serve. We started with soup--won ton for son and hot and sour for me. Then we tried the sesame noodle appetizer which is definitely very sesame! I like the texture of the noodle. The chicken fried rice was amazing--like a combination of how my mother and grandmother would make for me. My son indicates that it may be the best he has ever had! I brought the leftover fried rice for my daughter and she agreed that it was the best! My son also loves the sesame chicken which is fried white chicken meat. And that is after them eating chicken fried rice at every Asian restaurant in Atlanta, so they would know! The soup dumplings came at the end and we were both full both still managed to eat two each and bring one home. They are the biggest dumplings ever. Eat carefully as they are filled with hot soup, so I start from the top in order to let the steam out and always use the soup spoon and bowl to catch any liquid if you are new to eating soup dumplings. Come here for a treat!

Jing L.

Yelp
Solid 4 stars from me! This is my fourth time here and I finally remembered to write a review. It's a bit far from my house so it's difficult for me to frequent their establishment. Wish it were closer though! (Ok maybe not cause then I would save no money) My favorite dishes here are as follows: 1. Soup dumplings!! ($10 for 5) 2. cumin lamb ($20) 3. Hot numbing flounder stone pot ($18) 4. Spicy beef tendon ($11) It's a bit pricey than restaurants in buhi but considering the location price is reasonable. Authentic Chinese food for sure, recommend if you're in the area!

Francis Y.

Yelp
This place is awesome when you DINE IN. The staff is friendly and it's a cute setup. The food is delicious, but only when you dine in. When I ordered for take out and delivery, the food was soggy and disappointing---there's no way around this though because I could tell they boxed it as soon as it was freshly made, which is great service but ultimately the steam gets trapped and makes the food soggy. The other option would be to get food that's been sitting out for a while and then boxed up and that's not really appetizing either, know what I mean? Take my advice. If you want good legit Szechwan cuisine, go here and DINE IN

Pam S.

Yelp
Food was great. Wasn't able to narrow down options so the server made an excellent recommendation. Looking forward to returning in the near future!

Kalvin K.

Yelp
A pretty good Chinese spot by Stone Mountain. Parking here is a bit weird. It's in a shopping plaza that seems super busy. Food was good here but nothing spectacularly good. They market themselves as sichuan cuisine and it was good but definitely have had better. Overall decent value and a surprise in Georgia.

Jojo P.

Yelp
yummy food! love the noddles and green beans. flavorful but sometimes pricey. service great

Miranda W.

Yelp
Give us prices that did not match the menu so the bill ended up being a lot higher. I called it out and they revised it. In addition, the plate they gave us had food and stains from previous customers

Andrea M.

Yelp
I am genuinely surprised at the authenticity of this place since Decatur doesn't have a large Asian population. The dan dan noodles were really good. The size was somewhat on the smaller end, but it is on the appetizer section. These were in a simple peanut-like sauce (but it's actually chili oil and sesame sauce) with a little bit of tofu atop. With one chili pepper symbol, it wasn't spicy to us. The dry fried eggplant was crispy and semi-spicy. With two chili pepper symbols, you can taste the spices. We wished there were more portions of this, but then again, it was on the small plate section. These were def on par with other places minus the qty. The spicy pork knuckles were interesting. Neither of us ever had or seen this before, and it wasn't really spicy with one chili symbol. And no, it's not the pig feet but the part above it. So surprisingly, there were more meat and fat. This was def filling with the small bowl of rice as well. With the 3 dishes we shared, the hubs and I were full leaving the restaurant. The total bill was closer to $40 w/ tax and tips, but it's expected being in the area. The quality was really good with overall okay portions. Hai is in Michael's, Homegoods, Ross complex. It is more near Starbucks on the other corner of Louisiana Bistreaux.

Yelp

Yelp
We really enjoy Hai. Every dish we have had there has been amazing. We love Szechuan chinese food and when they indicate a dish is spicy on the menu you are guaranteed it will be. We tried the fried pork belly small plate for the first time on this visit and it was amazing. Imagine Chinese seasoned bacon with a good helping of Szechuan pepper numbing your mouth in the best way! I also had Vegetable Delight that had bamboo shoots. I was expecting the rectangular flat bamboo shoots I have had a million times before in other Chinese dishes. Not here - they use fresh bamboo shoots that are tender and soak up the flavor of the sauce incredibly. Everything is so fresh and tastes like mom or grandma made it just for you.

Yelp
I had an outstanding dinner at Hai. The food here is head and shoulders above other any other Sichuan restaurant I've tried in Decatur-- above most Sichuan restaurants in Atlanta as a whole, for that matter. Even competing Chinese restaurants like Yummy Spicy or Gu's Kitchen on Buford Highway, a reliable locale for quality "authentic" food, struggle to reach the heights of the meal I had at Hai. I went with a group of four other people, and between us we split three appetizers: - Xiao Long Bao (pork soup dumplings) - Dan Dan Noodles - Wuhan Sesame Noodles Two entrees: - Kung Pao Chicken - Szechuan Basil Chicken And two "Chef Specials" listed on a specialty menu: - Beijing duck buns - Crispy fried milk Everything ranged from very good to excellent. The soup dumplings were great-- the dumpling itself had a satisfying chewiness, and the warm and flavorful soup inside was very comforting. They were not served with soup spoons, which made it a bit challenging to eat without spilling any soup, but some careful chopstick work got the job done. Both noodle dishes were superb, each extremely flavorful and distinct, so we were glad we ordered both. The Dan Dan noodles were well dressed with the iconic spicy numbing sauce, and the sesame noodles had a decadent creaminess and nutty flavor that complemented the intensity of the Dan Dan noodles nicely. I will happily order both dishes again. Both entrees were fantastic, and again had a nice variety of flavor to make both dishes worth ordering together. The Szechuan Basil Chicken was stir fried with a good variety of vegetables that provided some freshness, and the greens provided a nice visual contrast to the usual dark reddish color palette of many Sichuan dishes. Although the basil flavor wasn't particularly noticeable, it was still present and quite enjoyable. The Kung Pao chicken was a personal favorite of mine. The heat, tanginess, and sweetness of the sauce was perfectly balanced, and the pieces of onion and bell pepper provided a perfect cooling element to the intensity of the dish. Nothing was overwhelmingly spicy, but I found the heat of everything on the table to be quite satisfying, though this is sure to vary according to your own spice tolerance. The specialty dishes were also quite good. I loved the duck buns, particularly the warm chewy bun itself, though the portion was fairly small for the price. The fried milk was something I had never tried before, and I was pleasantly surprised by the sweet, rich flavor and soft texture. It would be a great dessert, though it was served early on in our meal, even before some of the appetizers reached the table. Still quite enjoyable as a sort of palate cleanser. I'm not sure how frequently the chef specials are served, but I would definitely try more of them in the future. The service was friendly and pretty quick. I am also quite fond of the ambiance, which is somewhat casual with a clean modern aesthetic. The lighting was pleasantly dim. Prices were perfectly reasonable (and especially affordable when splitting everything between five people). I think Hai will find a solid spot in my restaurant rotation, and I will happily be returning very soon.

Yelp
This was our family's first time here after a quick Yelp search. We were there for Sunday lunch around 12:30 pm. Not many people had arrived so service was fast. Ordered fish, chicken and beef dishes. Bamboo fish was very tasty. Beef was tender unlike other Asian restaurants where it can be a bit chewy. We've found another Asian restaurant for ourselves in this one. All family members gave it high ratings and would not hesitate to come back.

Yelp
I went with a friend for lunch and we had a few items. I ordered the bang bang shrimp to start with and it was really good, I also had the hot and sour soup and it was below average, the gold mountain chicken is what I had for my main dish and it was very average. The service was average. The place is fairly small but they have a patio that is perfect for a nice day. Although my experience was average another friend of mine had been there and told us to try the dishes you wouldn't typically find on a fly by Chinese restaurant so I'll be back to try again.

Yelp
I'd heard of Hai for a while now, but it actually wasn't until I found a money back deal through the seated app that I went over and gave them a try. I mean trying a new restaurant and getting money back is a win win right? You can find Hai off of North Decatur road in a little strip to the left of Walmart (they're right beside the Starbucks on North Decatur). The times that I have visited (i've visited twice), the dining portion of the restaurant was closed and it was take out only. That's okay. So i ordered the following on the first and second visit in order: First visit Mongolian Beef ($18) second visit Orange chicken (($16) Vegetable Fried rice ($14) Mongolian beef is one of my favorite dishes and I know that no matter where you go it's going to be a little greasy. It's just that this dish had a pool of grease at the bottom and everything was coated with it. The actual dish itself, the flavors were pretty bland and this was a miss for me. With all these great reviews, I gave Hai a second chance and it turned out a bit better! The orange chicken had MUUUUCH more flavor than the Mongolian beef, chicken was crispy, slightly sweet and was an enjoyable dish. The fried rice was actually my favorite dish of everything I tried at Hai so far. Flavor was nice, with big chunks of fresh veggies, being flavored quite well too. The only gripe I had with it is there is no "add on" fried rice. You just have to pay for it as if it is its own entre. So 30 bucks for chicken and rice can be a bit pricey, but again, the rice was great and the orange chicken was good, so the sticker shock wasn't so hard to swallow My second visit was very much 4 stars and my first was 2 stars, so that's where I get my 3 star review from...just averaging it out. I will come back here and hopefully soon I can dine in and get the visual appeal as well as the flavors. All the same, Hai does its job delivering some decent Chinese, something Decatur doesn't have a lot of. Give them a shot!

Yelp
My daughter and I picked up shrimp fried rice, chicken fried rice, and veggie spring rolls to go from here this evening. We both said it was the we ever had. No soy sauce needed. The rice was very tasty, soft without any square carrots sprinkled in. The chicken and shrimp was excellent. As much as we tried to eat it all, we couldn't. Looking forward to the leftovers tomorrow and a return visit.

Yelp
We've gotten take out here a couple of weeks in a row. This place will probably be a weekly ritual. Thus far we've had the home style bok choy, combo fried rice, Kung Pao Chicken, vegetable spring rolls, Spicy & Crispy Pig Feet. Each one was deliciou

Yelp
Ordered Hai on Uber Eats. Food was delivered hot and tasty. I ordered both general tso's chicken and magnolian beef, both paired with white rice. The portion was shareable and prepared with lots of flavors. I look forward to actually dinning in. Would recommend Hai if you're in the area.

Yelp
Came here after dropping the dog off for her checkup. Decided upon the lunch menu and substituted fried rice for a 1 dollar up charge with my spicy fish. Came with a choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup. Had both. Flavors were pretty good, better than ones I have had on Buford Highway for sure. Would return for dinner.

Yelp
Ate here recently for the first time. Nice restaurant setting. I ordered Shrimp & Broccoli with spicy garlic sauce. The dish was delicious, but the steamed rice was very underwhelming. I will be back to other items soon. Service was nice and friendly.
