"Hai You Pork Ribs from Shilin Night Market has been using a secret recipe to make tasty and healthy pork rib soup with over 15 herbs for more than 40 years." - Rachel Tan
I’d give it three star not because it’s bad. The taste is good, the make is really basic. The ten herbs soup was tasty but the rib is all bones. Would have loved it maybe because I’m comparing it to how my grandparents would make it at home. For the chicken, I think it’s not as tender and flavourful but it fills me up. The noodle and vegetable is tasty but there’s lack of ingredient.
However, if you’re not a local and you want to get a taste of Chinese local cuisine… this is not bad already.

We stopped here because it was awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand. The pork ribs themselves were tender. Broth was fairly plain, but still good! Service and atmosphere here were excellent! Things are efficient! Overall, a pleasant experience and solid choice in the Shilin Market!

Good flavor, the ladies from the staff were friendly.
While leaving the male staff made a sexist joke, that maybe he assumed I wouldn’t understand and only my companion would. This might be considered local humor but both of us found it disrespectful and unnecessary.

We ate in a rainy day, ribs were really good but who hate the herbal smell is not recommended. My father said the goat meat noodles was good too. But they use one-time bowls, not very sustainable.

Generally, there are many places that sell this soup and I have not try most of them. However, I believed its taste should be similar if not the same.
The soup is lightly herbal and tastes sweet so it might not appeal to those who like a heavy dose of herbal taste in their soup.
So to those who has sweet tooth do drop in and savour the soup.
Enjoy

Nice, hot, flavorful, dark soup, I loved the chicken one, with 2 drumsticks tender and juicy. The owner is a good reclame for his soup, 70 years old and has more energy than me and my wife together. If you're around the Shilin night market, don't miss this warmly place and his soup.

I liked it. The soup base is not so strong compared to Malaysia. But nice. Taiwan equivalent. Hey, when in Rome... Place is efficient. Nice and friendly, even with a big crowd. The queue is there but moves quickly.
