Yelp
Great restaurant serving authentic Hakka cuisine, as well as more standard Cantonese dishes. I enjoyed my experience here much more than some other highly rated restaurants in the area, and it's definitely worth the trek to Outer Richmond for me. Almost everything I've tried here has been delicious.
Some reviews have complained about service. I think that it is well-intentioned and the owner is super nice, but it might be easier if you have someone in your party who can speak at least Mandarin. I ordered the stuffed chicken over the phone in English, and while I was able to order it in the end, the communication was not the clearest.
My favorite dish:
-Stew bitter melon with catfish in clay pot (seasonal) ($27.95) - pricey but worth it. The catfish is tender with a caramelized coating and super delicious, and goes together really well with the bitter melon. The fish does contain bones and you probably need to be a fan of bitter melon to enjoy this dish though.
Highly recommended:
-House special pan fried tofu ($10.95) - delicate soft tofu stuffed with ground pork. Really great, and also lighter tasting than most other dishes I tried here.
-Lamb with dry bean curd in clay pot ($16.95) - the bean curd and sauce are delicious. The lamb (contains bones) is good, but the bean curd is really the star in my opinion, and it's perfect with rice.
-Stuffed chicken with sticky rice ($39) - this needs to be pre-ordered, which I definitely recommend doing. The price may seem high but it's a very labor-intensive dish to make and definitely worth the price in my opinion. It's a deboned chicken stuffed with sticky rice (loaded with chicken, sausage, dried shrimp, and mushrooms) and fried, so the skin is very crispy. There isn't that much meat left on the chicken (it seems that most of it has been reincorporated to the sticky rice), and it does understandably get oily after a while so I recommend sharing this with at least 4-6 other people.
-Sticky rice in lotus leaf ($13.95) - contains peanuts, sausage, dried shrimp, mushroom, and eggs. Delicious and not as heavy or oily as the sticky rice inside the chicken dish.
-Pumpkin strips with salted egg ($9.95) - delicious combination of sweet pumpkin and salty yolk coating. Super addictive, and it doesn't feel heavy despite being fried.
Recommended:
-Salt & baked chicken (whole) ($28) - pretty good, and not overly salty at all. It's a good rendition and salt baked chicken is a classic Hakka dish, but I personally preferred some of the other items here.

Not recommended:
-Short ribs with black pepper & honey sauce ($14.95) - while the flavor is good, the beef is very sinewy and difficult to eat. This dish is the only miss I've had here.
