I visited Hakugintei, a place known for being very popular.
I arrived at 11:40 a.m. and there were already around 30 people waiting in line.
I was finally seated at 12:35 and started eating at 12:42, so the wait time was about one hour.
I ordered the pork fillet cutlet curry with a raw egg topping.
The curry was extremely spicy from the very first bite. To be honest, one raw egg was nowhere near enough; personally, I felt it would need two or even three eggs to balance the heat.
Toward the end, there was a slight fruity sweetness, but it didn’t translate into a strong sense of umami.
While the pork fillet cutlet itself wasn’t bad, it didn’t elevate the curry enough to leave a strong impression.
Considering the long line and the amount of time spent waiting, I don’t feel it’s necessary to line up for an hour just to eat here.
It might be worth trying once as an experience if you enjoy very spicy curry, but overall, my expectations were higher, and the result felt underwhelming.
