Hala Coffee & Kitchen

Surprisingly (to me) great food to me, coffee is decent (hit or miss sometimes), service is ok, but shoutout to Sydney (sorry if I spelled it incorrectly) for being an extra friendly & attentive server. Good place on a regular weekday to sit down and be productive. Can get crowded over the weekend. Limited business hour (but not a huge issue for me)

Hala is the cafe experience that anyone would want in the neighborhood. a large space with a good amount of seating serving menu of quality eats and drinks. stumbled in here on a sleepy Saturday and was in need of coffee. the Americano came out piping hot and full of that caffeinated flavor when the day has been too cold and you’re running on fumes and it’s only the early afternoon. the coffee was quite good and did its job. while it was a sleepy Saturday, Hala was full of people working / studying so it was pretty quiet. the vibe was definitely low key. the space is really clean, well-organized, soaked in light, and has a welcoming tone to it all. the service was chipper and the warm. wish i had taken advantage of the food options (they look good) but that’s a good excuse to return. and only in Bushwick would a cafe bathroom key be named “Kevin”—do with that knowledge what you may.

I really liked the atmosphere here. Definitely a great place to sit down. Plenty of seating. The coffee is good too! Staff was quick and speedy but friendly is not a word I would use to describe them.

I’m a big pancake fan and I loved these house pancakes! I got them without ice cream. They were fluffy and buttery, with crisp edges. The lattes were solid too. Would definitely come back!

Fantastic coffee coupled with genuinely warm, friendly service! The blueberry scone was delicious, too. A beautiful airy space with floor-to-ceiling windows, perfect for both quiet work or hanging with friends.

This place is perfect, delicious healthy food, coffee, and pastries and very good prices. Customer service is also great its a regular order spot for us now. The chicken sandwich is our favorite!

Don't write reviews often, but I just needed to for this place. Been here a few times now, and honestly the place is so under-rated. The food tastes like something that could have been prepared at a five-star restaurant -- beautifully presented and *packed* with amazing flavors every single time! Highly recommend the house pancakes, acai bowl, breakfast pita, and chicken sandwich. You won't be disappointed. Aside from that, the baristas are super friendly to just chat with on a lazy weekend afternoon, and there's plenty of space to sit and work. 6/5 stars!

An excellent place to go if you want to get some work done, as well as a latte and lunch. One of my favorite things to eat there is the farro bowl, it's very fresh, and has lots of different textures and flavors that really compliment each other. Unfortunately, you can only get eggs at Hala soft boiled or scrambled. I wish there was an option for hard boiled, but the kitchen doesn't do that. You also can't replace items or ingredients of any of the menu options, only can add on. Employees are friendly, some are better at making espresso drinks better than others, regardless, the service is still above average.

Lovely, bright atmosphere perfect for brunch, coffee or working from a cafe. We got the Acai Bowl (one of the biggest for the price I've seen), biscuit and gravy (comes with an omelette and mushroom gravy), grilled sandwich, and breakfast Pita. All wonderful ingredients and well portioned. The staff were also lovely and helpful.

This is my favorite kind of cafe - the kind where you can get a coffee/tea and a bite to eat and get some work done. The Hala Hash was tasty. The potatoes were crunchy and well seasoned, the eggs were perfectly runny, and the side of tomato confit reminded me of a good pasta sauce. The music is upbeat but relaxed and quiet enough that you can easily talk over it if you're eating with someone else. There's plenty of seating, wifi, enough writing to read or write, and a few outlets to charge your phone or laptop.

came to this place to get some work done. such a nice reprieve from this hot weather out, and there's so much space to get work done. the coffee is spectacular and they offer lavender syrup AND soy milk! staff is also very friendly :) besides the great coffee, they offer - free wi-fi - bathrooms - quiet space - not a cramped space

I didn't expect to head to another cafe lmao because I'm currently waiting for my friends to head to brunch haha. This comfortable industrial vibe-ish vegan friendly cafe is definitely another recommended place I would visit on the regular. For example imagine heading to work and you're rushing to grab something quick and you really don't know where to go.. (although they're many options to choose from, I'm pretty sure you'll be satisfied with what you'll order from this cafe). Friendly comfortable environment. You will definitely get some work done with the seating arrangements inside... (PLUS YOU CAN CHARGE YOUR PHONE AND WAIT FOR YOUR RIDE TO HEAD HOME SAFE SINCE THEYRE OUTLETS everywhere). Just make sure to order something first because of you don't....welp it's on you The staff are great and professional! Love it! Gonna continue drinking my espresso now. They serve it in these tiny blue cute mugs and spoon. Please support the locals!

Top tier. Quality coffee, comfortable, bright space with fast WiFi, and an amazing variety of fresh and healthy food.

Nice spacious and clean cafe. I had the Hala Hash, which was wholesome and delicious. The egg was cooked perfectly runny and the toast nicely browned. The hash was extremely flavorful tiny pieces but they only give you about three tablespoons worth. The tomato confit comes chilled and tastes like high quality sauce with cilantro. You won't be full from this meal, more like a snack but the quality is good. I would come again and try other items.

I really liked this cafe. As a home visiting social worker, I like to come here for a debrief every time I visited a homeless shelter nearby. The Coffee (Halo) they a brewing is always delightful for me. Although it is just a hot brew coffee, it offers me clear layers of fruitiness with mild kick of attack and after taste. It is great to have whether in a hot summer afternoon or a windy snowing winter. The environment provided me a moment of still and quietness and relaxed me all time. Come check it out and you will know what I mean. Today, I visited the homeless shelter for the last time, which I don't know if I will have any chances to come over for work. This is so far my last cup of Halo that I know.

Loved my counter culture specific cortado faster than I could take a picture. Good prices for milk subs too, only $1 up. Spacious, good music, calm, plenty of seating, approachable staff.

Great coffee, food and service! It has definitely become my favorite spot and is also a great place to get some work done. Get wild, try the food, it's just as good as the coffee!

I've been here quite a few times in the past few weeks and, apart from really good and well-priced coffee, it has some of the warmest, nicest staff you'll find on this big blue marble called planet earth!

Best pancakes in Brooklyn. Their acai bowl, which I ventured to try is also bomb. Seriously. Coffee is good but the pancakes!! I've ordered via uber and picked up and both versions tasted great.

Amazing coffee and food! I had a mocha w/ oat milk, egg and hash sandwich, and a blueberry scone. The mocha was perfect and I was actually surprised to find how good the food was. The service was fast as well, considering there was one person making the coffee and a good number of people taking orders. I'm only taking one star off because the scone was good, but seemed like it had gotten a little stale.

This place is cute, cozy and hip! The shop is clean and chick with plenty of tables and benches that allow for 6 feet distance for patrons to enjoy their meal. I just so happened to find this place out of "luck." I wanted to start the New Years eating healthy. I ordered the breakfast pita and and was blown away at the flavors in my mouth!!!! The tomato confit added a nice flavor to the lightly scrambled eggs. This is my new favorite place.

Hala coffee & kitchen you are really fantastic, I had an incredible experience here yesterday. Excellent place and the rates are reasonable. Every single thing I've tried thus far is very good. Team is very pleasant and will help you with anything. We had such a good time.

I was feeling sleepy and stopped here for a quick coffee, but instead I spent $5 to have someone treat me like I walked into their living room uninvited. It was too much to even ask for some simple syrup, or a napkin. The employee literally scoffed and put the quickest, smallest splash of simple in my coffee, left coffee spilling off of the top, rushed me out, and ran back to sit down and be on their laptop. The drink wasn't what I wanted but their was no way I was walking back in there. Never again.

Found this place during the pandemic- they're offering to-go food and drinks. Coffee is great (they serve Counter Culture which I really like), and food is outstanding. I've been coming at least once a week for breakfast for the past month. Breakfast pita is a hit! Staff is very friendly, food is reasonably priced (on par with most food in the area). It's quickly become a go-to for me.

Exemplary cafe in a neighborhood full of subpar ones. Best coffee in Bushwick, period. Incredible baked goods and delicious, healthy, thoughtfully designed/prepared bowls and sandwiches -- way better than the food you normally get at a coffee place. The guys who work at Hala are friendly and efficient, almost like good local bartenders -- you're happy to see them when you walk in. Music is great -- not the expected stuff -- eclectic and cool, perfect for working, on the mellow side but not always. I have spent many an hour with my laptop here -- it's a good place to hunker down for a morning or afternoon, doesn't get crazy loud or busy. My one small reservation is that it's a bit too brightly lit, particularly in the early evening. Not sure whether they're fluorescent lights or what but dialing them down just a bit would add to the vibe and also make it easier to work. Otherwise, perfect. I feel lucky to have this place nearby.

Hala has all the makings of a great local coffee shop. Unfortunately the staff if not the best mannered. They were slow and unresponsive after a drink spill and when asked for a clean up rag began unrolling bits of paper rolls which was not enough for a big spill. And, the shop itself did not seem to have any napkins available. It's probably fine for a grab & go visit, but not as welcoming if you wanted to sit and sip.

This restaurant has been the biggest blessing while I've been locked down in Crown Heights. I only wish I discovered it sooner. Try the shepherd's salad, the chicken sandwich, the vegetable sandwich, the breakfast pita, and don't forget the iced coffee! Everything is fresh and flavorful and priced just right.

Omg their coffee is the best in this part of New York. Highly recommend. The pastries are very fresh and tasty.

got a matcha latte and it seriously just tasted like reg milk lol even the color was a pastel green... maybe add an extra scoop (or two) of matcha powder next time. waste of $6 cause i threw half of it away

Chai latte is just milk... definitely overpriced. Another unnecessary coffee shop. The barista was nice though.

first time having food here and it was amazing! the veggie bowl with hummus and cauliflower and pita was amazing and my usual iced matcha latte was perfect. service is great, everything was ready within a few minutes and the place is clean and pretty.
