Highlights

Hale & True cider is made by fermenting fresh Pennsylvania apple juice, straight from the orchard and into our tanks. We then add ingredients like hops or fresh fruit juice to create a sessionable, balanced but complex drink. Enjoy Hale & True cider made on site, as well as beer, wine, cocktails, and small plates prepared by our friends at The Good King Tavern at our taproom.

The Best Cider in Philly

"South Philly’s Hale and True opened its doors in 2018, bringing with it a diverse collection of hard ciders made on-site. Grab a snack (food is provided by The Good King Tavern) and try a cider flight (which includes a mix of four standard and seasonal offerings). You can also sip on one of its cider-forward cocktails, like the Apple-rol Spritz (made with Hail to the Hop cider, clementine aperitivo, and soda) or the Cider Gin Fizz (featuring its Bee Sting cider, lemon, honey, and gin)." - George Banks-Weston

The One-Two Punch: A Date Night Dinner & Drinks Guide

"Walk out of Good King Tavern, and look directly across South 7th street. Hale & True Cider Co. is only about 15 paces away, which means that no matter how cold it is outside, you have a very low chance of developing frostbite.* It’s a big cidery with high ceilings and a rotating selection of seasonal ciders, and while it’s not exactly the most romantic spot in the city, it does have some really interesting things on tap, like a pineapple basil cider that we’re particularly huge fans of. Also, did we mention how close it is to Good King Tavern? *For legal reasons, we should clarify that it is still possible to develop frostbite if it’s cold enough outside. Like The Day After Tomorrow cold." - sydney mcelwee

Google
Came here for a candle making event and was super excited to try to cider! It did not disappoint!!! The atmosphere is so relaxed and really puts you at ease! The staff are also super friendly and knowledgeable! It was really interesting to hear about how the cider is made and to learn about the background of the establishment! The cider tasted fresh and was full of flavor! Overall this is a really cool and chill spot where you can relax, learn some interesting facts if desired, and enjoy some really delicious drinks!!!

Google
Love the atmosphere in here and the flight is the perfect way to try all their ciders. They are all dry and really delicious. The Smokey one was my favorite.

Google
Our waitress was awesome, super personable and great service. The atmosphere was great; but there was such an echo it was very loud even though it was only half full. There was a food pop-up when we were there which was good. There are only 5 ciders to choose from but I enjoyed all of it.

Google
Hosted a small birthday gathering here and it could not have gone better. The server was so nice and helpful and I also got to meet and chat with the owner. The owner is knowledgeable about ciders and passionate about bringing community together which I really appreciated. This is such a great place to go for any gathering and highly recommend. The ciders are delicious, the vibes are fun and the staff is incredible!

Google
Unique cider flavors with a cute brewery. We got the flight , the standard, and a spritz. The electric lady was delicious.

Olivia Del Vecchio

Google
Fun spot to hang out and try cider. Definitely start with the flight first to try a few varieties. My only wish is that they had a few more games to play

Sunny Ko

Google
Very cute place with interesting cider flavors!!! Tried the flight since I’ve never been and it was such a great choice. Definitely not your basic ciders sold here but 100% worth a try

Google
We discovered this place by accident on a hot day in search of a refreshing drink and were in for a treat. We ordered the cider flight (four small glasses with different types) and a special brew with jalapeños in it ("The Captain"). Service was excellent and there is outside seating on a pretty quiet street, so perfect for a summer evening. Highly recommended *****

Yelp
One of my closest friends is a regular here, so when I found myself with time to spare on South Street prior to a visit to the magic gardens, I remembered this spot and wandered in. Situated just a block south of South Street, the cidery is bright, clean, and welcoming. They have a range of ciders in terms of sweetness. I tried a few, but the Poga was my favorite. They also serve cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. You can order food from Good King Tavern, and they have fun pop-ups too.

Yelp
Local ciders made with Pennsylvania apple. I'm a huge fan of dry ciders so I think I've found my place.

Yelp
Such a good variety of ciders, great ambiance, and super cool staff. Cant say enough great things about this place!
google avatar

Yelp
Possibly one of the most underrated and friendly establishments in the neighborhood. If you're a cider person this is definitely worth the trip and time! They're happy to explain how great and homemade the cider is too

Yelp
Ciders on a Wednesday what could go wrong. Wondering thru the gayborhood of Philly you'll find this quiet spot in the city to catch up with friends and enjoy some ciders. The flight is the best way to sample all that they have to offer. Grab some food from local spots, bring them in and enjoy inside or outside. I decided that the local sports commentators keep me company as I people watch for the evening.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice spot to have a cider or a special cocktail. They also offer some small snack items. When we visited there was a small stand inside selling empanadas but was not owned by the business, so seems like there is other food options besides what they offer at times. The place overall is small and cozy so this makes seating limited. Staff are very nice and keep an eye out and seat you as soon as they can. We tried the cider flights which helped to try a variety of the options they have. There is some table top games to play and TVs for sporting events. Very clean inside. Overall a good place to visit with friends and have a drink.

Yelp
I somehow had never heard of this place until my friend recommended we go there last night and I loved it! The vibes are super chill- it's a great spot for a date or just hanging out with friends. Their Thursday special is a $10 cider flight which a few of us got and really enjoyed. My favorite was The Standard and my friends also really liked the POGA. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be coming back here soon!

Yelp
A must-visit during this fall season when you can't make it apple picking but still want all the benefits of that cozy autumn feeling. As mentioned in other reviews, the ciders are not sweet (which I LOVE- no hangovers!), but still have an abundance of flavor. I liked the bee sting the most with its ginger flavor, but really wanna try the peppercorn one our waitress told us about in her going-over-the-menu spiel (which was MUCH appreciated, having never been here before). Can't wait to go back again when I'm in the neighborhood! Also- it's BYOF (food), and there's outdoor seating. Double yay!
google avatar

Yelp
Tasty! I gravitated away from cider because it's typically so sweet, but I was clearly unaware of hale and true's exclusively dry cider. Amicable staff, nice outside space and indoor tasting room. Also, their bathrooms are really nicely done and clean (with cute hail to the top can candles burning). Will definitely return and will probs be eating nomad pizza again here too. Love when local businesses team up to support each other! My favorite of the flight was the bee sting, which had a very distinct ginger flavor that I loved. Obviously can taste *some* sweetness, but the best one they have isn't in the flight unfortunately. It's the Poga, which is guava, orange and passion fruit. 10/10. Also, side note: their one cider called hail to the hop should be called HALE to the top. Okay.
google avatar

Sandy S.

Yelp
The service was great, the cider flight was a super great way to try many of their drinks, and then we ordered the other ciders that weren't included in the flight. They also have board games, plenty of seating, and the best thing is that their bathroom was stocked with sanitary pads :') Server was super nice and the vibes were great, definitely coming here again!

Yelp
All hail Hale and True for bringing us a true variety of ciders and a great place to wait 240 minutes for your table at Fiorella's. A few weeks ago (on one of the last nights we were allowed to go out) I checked out Hale and True for the first time during happy hour and it was truly a delight! We opted for a flight and some cider cocktails after. The flight and several of the ciders were discounted for happy hour. The flight was a great way to sample all the ciders (except their rotating collaboration cider but the waitress gave us a taste of that too). The waitress came over and explained all the ciders several times and was so excited it was really cute. Great to see people passionate about their work. There really is a cider for everyone- dry, not too sweet, hoppy, tastes like beer- you got it! And if all else fails they also have cocktails and a few beers and wines. The food offerings are small- a cheese plate, some olives and pickles supplied by The Good King Tavern, nothing too heavy. I've seen that they have pop-ups with a Filipino restaurant so need to go sometime when they are there. Can't wait to go back after all the lockdown lifts! In the meantime they are offering no contact takeout of growlers, bottles and 4 packs of some ciders from their window- support local businesses during this time!

Yelp
Fantastic find. We have lived close to them for a year now and finally made our way there. They are super friendly and accommodating. They have an outdoor area that is dog friendly. All the wait staff we soooo nice. Like really really nice. The cider as expected was phenomenal. We tried the flight at first which allowed us to try their standard four flavors. We also tried the DreamFlower which was AMAZING. By far our favorite. We actually bought a 4-pack of that because of how much we liked it. It's a small place inside, but it's very cozy. They brew all their cider in house which is awesome.

Yelp
Great cider. Incredibly welcoming staff. I chose Hale & True by Googling local cider makers to try. They were not far from home, so I ordered a small growler for pickup. It was a lucky gamble. The cider is good! The basic cider is dry, which I like. Bee sting has honey and ginger and is really good. I look forward to sampling the rest of their ciders.

Yelp
My friend and I had a fun evening at Hale and True! The seating area is pretty small, but the space is bright and modern. We each got a $12 flight which included a sample of the four ciders on tap (The Standard, Hail to the Hop, The Professor, and Lil' Sunshine). The Standard was pretty bland, but I really enjoyed the Lil' Sunshine and Hail to the Hop. I also got a full pour of the Basement Series No. 32 "Astro Peach." It was very hazy and pretty tasty. I definitely plan to return in the hope of trying some different rotating ciders!

Yelp
Cider is one of those brews that took me awhile to fully appreciate. But with the help of local options like Sir Charles and Kurant, and winning tickets to Pour The Core Cider Festival a couple of times (Thanks Yelp!), I've found myself enjoying them a lot more. But when it comes to local cideries that I've visited, Hale & True is the one that has really stood out the most for me. The cider house rules with it comfy wooden interior, and plentiful seating arrangements. While you can easily get a good group in the back, I prefer sitting bar side and talking with whoever is on duty. My favorite time was when their cider master was bartending and was able to go into details about where he sourced his ingredients, and gave some good stories about the orchards he visited. While they don't have a kitchen of their own, they do have an assortment of small plates provided by Good King Tavern across the street. Picture cheeses from Dibruno Bros, and spiced nuts marinated in cider to go with your flight. And that flight is a good deal at $12 for their four signature ciders that include earthy Giant Peach, and the dry citra hopped Hail to the Hop with notes of grapefruit. But they also have a fifth rotating cider from their Basement Series, ones that utilize experimental and local ingredients. The current one called The Season is fermented with cranberries and maple syrup, and my favorite one utilized tomatoes and fresh basil. Toss in good local beers from the likes of Brewerys ARS and 2SP for non cider drinkers, a selection of local spirts for booze imbibers, and good cocktails that combine those spirits with their ciders, and you have a great spot.

Yelp
I was super excited to try Hale & True while visiting the area. The space is beautiful and very clean, so it provides a modern, but warm space. It was a weeknight, so there weren't many customers when we arrived. The cider flight my partner and I sampled was pretty subpar, nothing very impressive, but we were happy to try everything anyway. I ended up ordering a cocktail, also nothing very impressive. The main issue I ran into was with the server/bartender from the moment we arrived until we left. The man who was helping us was very snippy with me and it was completely unwarranted. There was another table next to us and the bartender was friendly to them, but as soon as he came to our table, he acted as if me placing an order was a huge inconvenience. His attitude was distasteful, considering we're probably the most chill customers you could ask for. I'm not really sure what the problem was, but I would never return or recommend Hale & True unless I didn't like the person.

Yelp
I was out for a long walk yesterday when I came up to Hale & True, and immediately noticed the signage outside. They are currently offering cider to-go through their window. How could I resist? The employee was friendly and informative about the different types of cider. They had two different bottled ciders, another in cans, and everything on tap was available for growler fills. The employee put on gloves for the transaction and it was quick and easy. I went with the Lil' Sunshine, which is made with honey and orange peel. I'm saving my cider for the weekend and can't wait to pop it open for a little taste of sunshine!
google avatar

Vanessa P.

Yelp
This location is incredibly cute. As a marketer I loved how cohesive the branding was throughout the restaurant. But that only goes so far in my book because it still comes down to the drinks. I recently got into cider a few years back and while Hale & True was good, I didn't think it was anything out of norm. If anything, my take on it is that the offerings were more of a safe or purist take on ciders. Not a bad thing, just something to note if you're thinking of stopping in. My husband and I both ordered a flight, and he agreed it wasn't much to write home about. They do offer some snacks but not actual plates/entrees. With all that said the inside was squeaky clean and the staff was very pleasant.

Yelp
My friend recommended Hale & True Cider when I was in Philadelphia on January 7, 2023. I tried a cider flight, which included the Standard, Lil' Sunshine, Cloud Cover, and Hit 'Em High. The Standard was a great dry cider. Lil' Sunshine has notes of wildflower and honey. I mostly taste the wildflower though. Can't decide if I like it. It's not bad, just a different taste. I think it would be good in a summer setting, like a picnic. Drinking it at a bar in January is a little odd. It might be me, but I can't really taste the honey too much. Cloud Cover has peach, pineapple, and hops. I can smell the peach and pineapple, but mostly taste the hops and apple. Thankfully, the apple tasted nicely as I'm not a huge fan of hops. The Hit 'Em High was flavored with ginger and hibiscus. A nice flavor combo. Overall, a good tasting.

Miguel H.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time, Melissa was super helpful and incredibly nice. The staff is great, the cider flight is super fun, and the space itself is so well done! My favorite was "The Standard" cider, but they also made a really good old fashioned!
google avatar

Jackie M.

Yelp
AMAZING spot. I stopped in with my friend for the mini donuts and cider pairing, and it was well worth the drive over. The cider was delicious, and the donuts (all gluten free!) were all unique and paired perfectly with the ciders. Personally I don't like hopped cider much, but they paired it with a grapefruit donut and I swear having them together enhanced both flavors!! The team there is so kind and friendly too... I got some great recommendations on other drinks to try, and I left with a very cute and soft t-shirt to commemorate. Would highly recommend to cider lovers or to alcohol and good vibes lovers!

Yelp
After living in New England where there are so many good ciders, it is great to have found another one in Philly. Hale & True definitely meets and then exceeds expectations. They have a great variety, the staff is nice and patient, and they have stuff for those crazy folks that don't dig cider (wine + beer). They have a solid list of liquors and some mixed drinks too (with cider mixed in). The spot is open and welcoming, and is a great place to stop before or after dinner at Nomad or the Good King Tavern. Even though we don't live in the neighborhood, I would call it a neighborhood gem.
google avatar

Yelp
I always love trying new local ciders. Being gluten free, Hale & True was perfect for me! Not only did they have several ciders on tap, but they had a few gluten free food options as well! I opted for a cider flight so I could try several different flavors. Hale and True ciders are more bubbly than I'm used to. The Bee Sting was unfortunately my least favorite as it was too gingery. Lil Sunshine was my number one for sure. I'd definitely be back. Great atmosphere too.

Ellen S.

Yelp
Wouldn't even give 1 star but that's all they allowed me to do. I honestly used to love this place. Went here for the cider festival with my boyfriend and then got denied. Saying "we were there too long". We're sorry for giving your establishment business. It was a cider fest/block party. Still very unsure of why we were denied hence it was a drinking festival. I honestly feel like it was a personal attack. I still don't understand why because we both had great conversations with all bartenders. Even 1 of their bartenders expressed to us he didn't understand why we were being denied.
google avatar

Danni L.

Yelp
Stopped here on a whim after walking by the cute cidery and decided to try a flight since I have been on the hunt for a refreshing, dry cider. The flight gave you a pour of each of their house ciders, and I was disappointed. The ciders were a little too dry with a bitter aftertaste, though if you don't want any sweetness in your cider this might suit you better than it did for me. I was also surprised to find that there weren't more options for cider, I will most likely not be returning.
google avatar

Yelp
Found Hale & True taproom off of South St after a yummy Vietnamese dinner at B&B (Bahn Mi & Bottles). My friend and I grabbed seats at the bar and ordered a flight of their ciders. We can see the large cider tanks through the large windows directly behind the bar counter. Behind us, tables were packed this Friday night with small groups drinking cider, local beer, wine spirits, and enjoying small plates. Off the bat, you can tell that the staff were passionate about their work at the cidery. The Standard has a uniquely clean, crisp taste from their special blend of apples and works as the base for all their other ciders - "sessionable, balanced but complex drinks". It's too bad we were already stuffed from dinner and couldn't manage to accompany our drinks with small plates, but overall, we had a wonderful visit!
google avatar

Dhara P.

Yelp
Oh my god! Where do I start about this place? The place itself has really nice atmosphere to hang after dinner and if you want, you can also bring your own food which you have some drinks. My husband and I ordered a whole selection of flight which allowed us to explore their menu and find our favorite one. Personally, I loved the Lil' Sunshine and Sail Away. It tasted very fresh and felt like just came out of brewery. P.S if you are not a heavier drink, the 6 selection of flight is enough to enjoy the night
google avatar

Alisha S.

Yelp
I was thrilled when I heard about this cidery and it definitely met my expectations! From the cool and casual vibe, to the friendly and attentive staff, and of course those ciders, what great timing for it to pop up right in time for the summer! My boyfriend and I walked in at about 7pm on a Thursday night. Luckily, there were some seats open at the bar so we grabbed them right away. The super friendly bartender was quick to present us with menus and tell us about the ciders they have to offer (four at the moment). They do also have beer, wine, spirits, a few cocktails, and a non-alcoholic beverage (Kombucha). Since it was my first time there, I decided to order a flight ($12!) so I could sample them all. After trying all of then, it didn't take long for me to find my personal favorite - the Sail Away! The Sail Away cider is made with pure mango. As a lover of all things mango, I swear this cider is made for me! It's definitely the juiciest and fruitiest of them all. The Standard and Lil' Sunshine were also very good, leaving the Hail to the Hop being my least favorite. This hoppy cider made with grapefruit notes was a little too bitter for my liking. Staff was fantastic. I really appreciate how personal and inviting everyone was. The owner, Kerry, made a huge effort to talk to all of his customers - something you really don't see often! You could tell how much pride he takes in his work. I definitely plan to pop in here often in the summer. Due to how much I liked the Sail Away, I asked if they sell growlers. Although they don't right now, I was told that they plan to in the further. Hopefully they'll have that available next time or maybe even a few more ciders will be added to the menu! Hale & True, welcome to Philadelphia! I am so happy to have you!
google avatar

Tina S.

Yelp
Not sure why I haven't reviewed hale and true... we've been here dozens of times and gotten take out growlers and cans to go. All of the cider is amazing and not too sweet. I love the basement series ciders which are usually interesting and seasonal. The poga is one of my favorites and glad it is now always on the menu. My boyfriend and I also took their cider making course series back in February which was absolutely amazing. So informative and we got to make our own gallon of hard cider with the help of the owners. Really great people and a great business!

Yelp
Decor/service: the decor is nice as it is a small little place that is quiet and allows for good conversation. They have a big tv projector on the one wall to make sure you do not miss key Philadelphia sporting events. Beer/cider: the cider they offer was tasty however, nothing really blew me away that I would have to have again. The other beers they offer are minimal and not the best so I would make sure everyone is a cider fan.
google avatar

Patty J.

Yelp
*content sigh* We had such a great experience at Hale & True that when we came back to Philly with a big group, we convinced everyone to go and it was a great time. Cider menu is simple but has enough variation for all taste buds! Can't choose just one? No problem, just ease in with a flight and try four. This time around we got cheeseboards too and the cheese paired really well (not that I know anything about cheese-cider pairings...). I wouldn't call myself a big cider fan but this place is seriously challenging that. There are also wine/beer/nonalc options as well. Service was great, the interior/deco was classy but modern, and the bathrooms were well furnished (I swear, you can tell how good a place is by how they treat their bathrooms). You can see the "brewery" in the back and it's cool to know that everything is *that* fresh. Location is great too, being on a quiet street off of South Street so it's close to stuff but not rowdy. On nights I think they project movies on the big screen :)

Yelp
Great cider company! Brand new, open space with tables and bar stool seating. Choose from ciders, beers, wine, cocktail, and kombucha (Baba's). I opted for the flight of the 4 available ciders, ranking them in order of preference as follows: (1) Lil Sunshine (honey and orange) (2) Hale to the Hop (citrus hops) (3) Sail away (mango) (4) Standard (apples) All were enjoyable and refreshing. The pickled vegetables were bold, pairing well with the array of cider. Service was pleasant and attentive. Great experience!

Yelp
We drove past this place and it looked poppin' so we looped back around and came in for drinks. As it turns out, we stumbled upon their one year anniversary. What an event! It was pretty crowded but we snagged a couple seats at the bar. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The staff was super friendly and down to earth. You HAVE to try the Schrute Farms Beet Cider it was delicious. I had two of them. There was a cider that tasted off however; like it had a flavor I've never tasted in cider before and I didn't like it. Oh well, they 'sold out' of it a minute later! Cheers.

Yelp
If you ever want to check out a really dope cider brewery this is the place to go. It's small cozy and very unique. During my visit I ordered the Old fashioned; Kinsey Whiskey rye, bitters, sugars; And I must say it was truly an experience. I've never had a drink before but I definitely see myself ordering it again! Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
I've been meaning to get here since it opened and it didn't disappoint when I finally checked it out a few weekends ago. The ambiance is bright and open. It's not huge but we were able to get a table pretty quickly. I split the flight with my husband, which is reasonably priced for 12 bucks. I'm glad we split it because I ended up only liking 2 of the ciders. I really didn't care for the standard or honey flavors, too sweet in my opinion. The hopped cider was great and I ordered another glass of this. Definitely had a good buzz going on after that! Service was fine, nothing to write home about. I didn't notice if they had games or anything, but that would be nice. I would definitely come back for more hopped cider, to try a cider cocktail, or to check out their new sour cider that I got an email about.

Marc G.

Yelp
Excellent cider and great people. I always feel like family when I walk in the door. An excellent place for a date. I brought my regular date mid day on a recent weekend. Full but not crowded, energetic without being loud - the place screams fun, bougie good times. Right up my alley. The juice on tap rotates and the ABV is way better than beer. I swear on a cost per ABV basis - this is the best deal in the city. I like the product because it's dry. Doesn't taste like a fruit juice hangover. Favorite is Goldberry but I'll drink the Hopped Cider over an IPA any day of the week. They also have cans to go.
google avatar

Lam B.

Yelp
So happy that we discovered this place. The progression of my taste preference with ciders has really changed over the years and the dryness of the ciders at Hale & True is perfect for my taste now. Get the flight and figure out which ones you really like. The standard and the lil sunshine are my favorites. (If you're looking for a strongbow or angry orchard like cider you won't find it here) They're a smaller location so there's only maybe 4 or so ciders offered on draft, wish there was more at a time but that's my only complaint. Aside from the great ciders, it's an nice cozy atmosphere! We love going and ordering some nomad pizza from next door to enjoy with our ciders. That being said, all of the bartenders and waitstaff we've met have all been extremely accommodating.
google avatar

Yelp
Great ciders, great little spot right off South St. and attentive, friendly staff. What more could you ask for? The place is a little loud but it's cozy, modern and feels welcoming when you walk in. Had a flight of their ciders and highly enjoyed them, mainly Hail to the Hop and Sail Away. Check it out if you're looking for somewhere new to grab a drink. I promise it won't disappoint.

Yelp
I came to Philly for my Penn reunion and stayed with a bunch of friends about one block away from here. My husband and I were walking around killing time and he just randomly said "I could go for a cider tasting somewhere." I though it would be a stretch to find, but luckily, Hale & True had opened up three weeks before! We went in and got flights which samples all four of their ciders. I liked that they were all definitely distinct and none of them were too sweet. My favorite was the Hail to the Hop and my husband liked the Lil' Sunshine which had honey in it. The owner served us and was super nice and told us that it had been their dream to open up a cidery. It seems like they are doing a great job so far! I especially love the decor of the space. A lot of cideries/breweries go super rustic, but Hale & True has a really nice clean and modern look with just a little bit of rustic-ness. A few guys were playing a board game while we were there and it seemed like it could be a nice place to hangout for a few hours. The only thing missing is a cheese plate on their snack menu.

Yelp
I came here for the first time for one of my Meet Up group gatherings. I like that they allow you to bring in outside food, if you want to. I had the seasonal cider - Sail Away, which is made with mango. It was so delicious. Everyone who ordered the flight said that they really loved it. I've been back once more with a friend, and had the Lil' Sunshine this time around. It was also very nice, but the Sail Away is my favorite. On both occasions, the staff made us feel welcome and we were not rushed at all. I'll definitely be back soon.

Yelp
A great little spot to start or end your night with friends. The decor of the restaurant is well done and right off the boards of Pinterest. The natural wood and warm lights are inviting and make you want to stay for awhile. I appreciated that the noise level never got too loud and it never got too crowded. Cider is what they primarily do her and there are 4 options to choose from. A great offering is the flight, which gives you a (generous) taste of each so that you can choose your favorite. I liked that their original cider was not at all sickeningly sweet as some ciders can tend to be. There is certainly a fermented quality to it. My favorite ended up being the Sail Away which is advertised as rested on mango. The aroma of mango was much stronger than the flavor. Overall, this seems like a great place to convene friends before getting your night started or if you're looking for a cozy, lowkey place. I noticed that you can bring pizzas from next door which is an awesome feature and one that I'll certainly need to take advantage of.

Yelp
I've been anxiously awaiting this to open!!! My date and I were walking back to the neighborhood from center city, I wanted to make a pit stop for one more drink and a bathroom break since we were still several blocks away. We were thinking good king but I noticed people inside of Hale and True and we serendipitously stumbled upon their opening night!! That nightcap turned into two flights of cider for both of us!! One of the owners was serving us at the bar, he went through each of the different types and you could tell he was passionate about his product. Everyone there was extremely welcoming, friendly, and willing to chat/answer questions even though they were packed! At this time they're serving a few options from good king, which is an amazing collaboration. Super chill spot for drinks and conversation..definitely looking forward to my next visit!!

Yelp
Stopped by on Saturday to check Hale & True, a cider bar that just opened up on the corner of 7th & Bainbridge. They have four house brewed ciders, each was very good. After sharing a flight Jon preferred the hopped version, I liked the lil sunshine version. The owners were there so we were able to hear the story on how they got started. Hale & True is across from Nomad Pizza and the also excellent Good King Tavern. They have several custom dishes made by the good king available on their menu. Great new addition to the neighborhood!

Yelp
Was walking from a neighboring establishment on a drizzly Sunday that happened to be Mother's Day, and couldn't help but pop in and check it out. Man, am I glad we did! The place is brand new, open less then two weeks. We were promptly seated, and the head brewer (and his wife) both popped over to say hello and walk us through the offerings. We got two flights of the ciders, although the craft offerings and wine options were all local and impressive. I thought all four were really well done, and would happily revisit any of them. The flavors were clean, its obvious that the ingredients are carefully selected, and the finished product is pretty masterful. I thought the Hale to the Hop almost drank more like a beer, the citra hops were a lovely and unique choice. The Lil Sunshine was very drinkable and really delicious, and the Standard was excellent as expected. I could have used a little more mango with the Sail Away, but thats a very nitpicky, minor complaint. The physical space is beautiful and clean, and the place is exquisite because it still is shiny and brand new. We complimented our ciders with two pastries, sold in compliment with a neighboring business. A very nice touch! There was a menu of small plate food options that would be worth revisiting on the next trip through. Awesome new spot, thanks for a great time!

Yelp
Nice ambiance in this cidery that fills a gap in philly's drink scene. It's very open and bright, situated on a corner in queen village. I stopped in with a friend on a weekday afternoon, and we were pleased to be seated immediately at a table along the wall. The place was almost empty despite it being happy hour. We both ordered flights and were able to try all of the ciders on the menu, between the two of us. Service was fast and friendly. The cider itself was okay - we found most of the options to be a bit sweeter than our preferences.

Yelp
This place is great! The bar staff are very knowledgeable and they know their apples. This is the first cidery I've been to and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm normally a brewery type of person, but, since I've been to this place, I'm definitely opening my mind and will be back to try some more if their deliscious drinks. The bar size is small... about 8 bar stools. They have table seating too and can accommodate up to 50 or so people. I went on a Sunday afternoon, so, it wasn't busy. If you're looking for a nice, clean, crisp drink... this is the place for you!

Yelp
Two words: Hopped Cider It is perfection in a glass. The decor and vibe are casual but cool. The service I received from waitstaff was awesome. They were able to explain the details of the different ciders on tap. While they do have a very limited food menu, there is a great pizza place right across the street. They had no problem with me bringing in my own pizza.

Yelp
I found this cider bar for my boyfriend and I to go to during our anniversary trip and it was so wonderful!!! The waitress was amazingly nice and suggestive to their different ciders. The coders themselves were fresh, smooth and delicious. You're allowed to order I'm good from the restaurants nearby to eat there too as they don't do a full food menu and I felt like it was such a chill spot to hang out in. We took a growler back of cider with us. Can't wait to go again when I'm in Philly!
