The 17 Best Restaurants & Bars In Hudson, New York 2024

"If you’re looking for a backyard where you can eat a simple, extra thin-crust pizza and drink an interesting $25 bottle of wine, head straight to The Half Moon on Front Street. They also serve pizza by the slice in case you arrive to town hungry at 10pm after everything else has closed. The classic cheese pizza is a favorite, but it’s also worth trying the white pie with ricotta and garlic." - chanize thorpe, anne cruz, keith hernandez

The Half Moon - Review - Hudson - Hudson Valley - The Infatuation

"If you’re looking for a backyard where you can eat a simple, extra thin-crust pizza and drink an interesting $25 bottle of wine, head straight to The Half Moon on Front Street. They also serve pizza by the slice in case you show up at 8pm on a Sunday and need some sustenance fast. You'll probably be happy with the classic cheese pizza, but we’d also recommend exploring the white pies and a special pizza with meatballs and ricotta." - Team Infatuation

I ordered half pepperoni but got half sausage, not complaining because that sausage had a great, earthy flavor. The pizza was delicious! Enjoyed drinks on their beautifully lit patio with friendly staff. Definitely will stop by again.

Google
Terrible experience. Had to pay a $10 cover to get in. Tried to order a drink which I never got because the bartenders ignored us. Even after the guys at the door tried to help me get a drink, the bartenders ignored us and continued serving other people. We left soon after.

We came here the other day (thursday) for a pizza and some beers. We tried several of their slices as well as a whole custom pie. The quality and taste varied from pie to pie. i was surprised at how strange the plain slice was. very little sauce, or maybe the cheese combination over powered the sauce. if this was the only slice we tried i would have not written the review. but we ordered a whole pie with kale and sausage and was very pleasantly surprised. lots of garlic and ricotta. kale cooked perfectly, with very little flop on the pizza. staff was not very welcoming, bartender was almost adversarial. despite our please and thank you's it was clear we were not welcome. maybe it was rare occurrence, everyone has a bad day. i would return and give it another try. if that's the normal vibe, just put up a sign that says locals only.

Google
The best bar in the Hudson Valley. Great pizza, good people and often good live music.

Google
One of the best pizzas you can find in and around Hudson! We usually get a classic pizza with pepperoni but this time added half onions! I called to place the order and they were very accommodating when I asked for light sauce on the pizza. You can also place your order online through their website! Sometimes they have specials on there worth checking out!! Definitely recommend giving them a try!!! No

Google
Definitely some of, if not the best pizza and wings in Hudson. If you’re in Hudson and looking for a great pizza, give them a shot.

Google
Dive bar down by the river in Hudson. Decent pizza and beer. Decent stage and lighting/sound for small theater or music performances.

Ordered food for pickup. No water available even though offered on website. Could not refund. Italian salad nothing but lettuce. Pizza cold .

Yelp
While I may be repeating what has already been said, it is the best pizza in Hudson. The olives were good, but the mushroom pie was perfect. They don't overwhelm you with fancy choices. You can have a classic NY, a white or a red (no cheese) with about 6-7 toppings to choose from. It's the sauce that makes the pie. There are two salad choices. We had the Caesar, and it was the real deal, anchovies and all. Everyone was super friendly. We were there on an off night, and the low key vibe was just what we wanted. Plan to go back on a Friday or Saturday. It's a classic old bar, but there are booths and tables on the pizza side if a dark bar isn't what you're looking for.

Yelp
this is a little pizza place fit into a bar in hudson, they make a special kinda pie, the crust is done well a bit burnt on the edges (yummmmmmmm) a great sauce with an amount that allows you to know it has some, and enough cheese that gives you a chance to know there is sauce under it. and sold by the slice too. most pizza are like a thin painted coat of red stuff with this SHEET of white chewy stuff covering a disc of under done dough. go here and try real pizza.

Yelp
Best pizza in Hudson! Friendly staff and a cool pizza shop/bar vibe. Perfectly located right in the downtown district and walking distance from the Amtrak station and just about anywhere else downtown.

Yelp
Great pizza. Great vibes. One of the few spots in Hudson that maintains an unpretentious vibe.

Yelp
Open til 1am, so it doesn't really start to fill til after 11pm. Great selection of draft and bottled beers, including local brews, at decent prices ($5-7). There was a "DJ" spinning early rock records, which could easily have been a playlist. No one was dancing, and everyone was salty about the mandatory $5 cover to grab a drink. The bar has many decades of history, through several incarnations and owners. It's divey in a low key but not grimy way. Lots of wood, a disco ball, chill outdoor patio area, etc. Mixed crowd of locals and visitors, unlike the swankier cocktail spots in town.

Yelp
Best pizza in the area. Great old bar ambiance and the only pool table in town. The restroom decor is unparalleled.

Yelp
One of the original spots in Hudson, happy hour was great 4 dollar beers. The bartender was a good guy, said his last name was "WOO" so to order a drink you holler "Woo!", good service, and fun environment. A lot of new york city folk there for the weekend, I went on a Saturday night. Pool table, looks to be a stage for live music, ample space to dance. Great spot, and affordable. Served Carribean food in the back, maybe because i was hungry it tasted amazing, but was some of the best oxtail, jerk chicken, rice and beans with cabbage ive ever had. 10$ for jerk chicken, 14$ for oxtail, i split the difference and got a mix of both :). Amazing! Will recommend. Can get rowdy on the weekend but security is present.

Yelp
The Half Moon is awesome. The food is really good, and service is exceptional. Literally writing my first yelp review for these guys because the world needs to know. We got up here late for a weekend in Hudson, and most every other place was closed or not answering the phone. The Half Moon was open, but more importantly, the pizza, salads, and the bottle of wine we got were delicious, better than they look in the pics. There was a slight glitch in the pickup time, which was actually after they closed, but they stuck around for us to pick up our order. Above and beyond! Would definitely order again, or come back for beers when the weather gets warmer.

Yelp
One of the few places in Hudson open past 10PM so thank you bb Jesus for that. A dive bar by definition with a great pool table and clearly an establishment frequented by the locals. No frills and good outdoor area. Bartenders could give more of a shit but otherwise a great spot.

Yelp
Jessanna was a fantastic bartender and help us out twice in one night, could not thank her enough! Great spot! Karaoke ever other Wednesday! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Anytime you can see Slink Moss belting out Great Balls of Fire at the Half moon you have to be impressed. We came here for Karaoke Wednesday and enjoyed some good pints, venison, and lovely karaoke. Great balls of Fire!

Yelp
Pizza is excellent but beware when ordering. If you want cheese on your pizza (and really it's not pizza if there isn't cheese) you must order the classic pie plus any additions. On line menu is unclear. If you order "red pizza" which states fresh garlic and oregano (yum) you don't get any mozzarella cheese. Weird I know. It was my 2nd time there, 1st time I had the white pizza. As I said, pizza is excellent, owner very nice but please...edit menu to state no cheese on red pizza

Yelp
This place was awesome. Staff was amazing and drinks were priced well. The girl hosting karaoke was great. I'll visit again the next time I'm in NY. Super chill spot.

Yelp
On first glance you might think it's a "dive bar". But they have great cocktails, nice beer selection and killer outside patio. There for a special event, but would recommend highly as that there is not much night life in Hudson. Get a nice drink, sit outside and enjoy your evening!

Yelp
My friends who just turned 21 went out to try and experience the bar scene in Hudson tonight. They just wanted to play pool, and were treated badly by the regular customers and waited over an hour for the table. The bartender said it was "league night." Yet the people at the table never told us that, they said we just had to put our name on the chalkboard to be able to play. But then they wrote their names underneath ours and ignored us. The bartender tried to make it better and offered us free games next time, but I was upset about how it was handled tonight. Forget the pool table, I would rather go to places where the regulars and bartenders aren't rude. I'm 27 and have been frequenting Hudson for years, and I will seriously rethink going to Half Moon after being a regular for years. I did not recognize tonight's bartender. I appreciate his effort but he still should've fixed it tonight.

Yelp
Lights. Camera. Action. Life in the big city babe. Looking for a little slice of the high Life? Looking to consume the forrbiden fruit? There is no better place for the aspiring mac daddy. Go in feeling like the spotlights on you honey and simmer yourself into the sweat and passion potion of the long island iced tea.

Yelp
Spent the weekend in Hudson. Had a great night listening live music. Great laid back atmosphere.

Yelp
We visited Hudson over the memorial day weekend. We are city kids, so for one of our nights we wanted a place that resembled the city's night life. The Half Moon was just the place! We saw a female trowing up on the side of the street, being held up by her friends, and we looked at each other and was like "yep! We are in the right place".! We entered and the security guard told us it was $10 each and we got a wristband. We headed to the bar and ordered long island iced teas (we were psyched cause the previous place we had gone to, we were told , "we don't do that here") the first long island(made by a female bartender) needed more iced tea because it was all rum and too strong but the second one (made by a guy bartender) was way better! The music was AMAZING! top 40's, r&b, rap, techno, you name it! It was also very diverse in there which i loved! (Lgbt, black, whites, hippies, college kids, older adults), which is what we were looking for as we felt out of place being the only persons of color at most places that we visited in Hudson. We also met a lot of ppl here! Such a fun place to start a conversation! There is a backyard designated for smoking. I stepped in there (not a smoker) just to get some fresh air, and was asked to spot someone to do their coke. (So Weird) but i guess the security guard noticed and closed the section right away. Overall, not the posh of places, but cheap drinks, good music, and diversity! What more could you ask for?

Yelp
This place rocks. Just opened .No pretense. The right brews. Comfortable, thoughtful and homey. Oh... and the owner's accent is actually authentic Scottish. My new hang out.

Yelp
I went to Half Moon w/ the express purpose of seeing live music. It was advertised as starting at 9 pm. The first band didn't start playing until after 10:30. I don't know if this is standard for bars to try to drive up booze sales on the weekend, but BSP in Kingston is pretty good about keeping bands on schedule. I will not be going to hear music again at Half Moon.
