"Hal’s Bar & Grill, a Westside restaurant pillar for over three decades, inexplicably closed both locations this week. Hal’s was a key restaurant anchor on 1349 Abbott Kinney for 30 years until closing in April 2015. The owners debuted Hal’s 4,700-square-foot Playa Vista location in 2015, then in 2017 at the former Primitivo space in Venice. The did is fantastic. Even the fries are exceptional. Only knock is that 2 of the 3 times I've been there, they have got one of our orders wrong. Correctable mistake. Once they work out the kinda this will be a must eat place in Playa Vista.

I took a dear friend here for brunch today. We both had pancakes which were delicious. There was live jazz until 2 p.m. so that was a great touch. After the live jazz ended, the canned music seemed too loud.

Brisket hash is excellent including the salad that came with it! Jazz made the food even more enjoyable. The ham, with a touch of pepper, on eggs Benedict is the best tasting I have had. Staff is attentive and friendly.

I've always walked by during lunch and it's always looked packed. I finally walked in and now I know why. The staff is nice and the food is good. It's also a lot bigger inside than it looks. There's an entire area they can extend if they need to. The food presentation is excellent and the accommodations are modern and cozy.

I tried Hal’s for the first time with my fiancée . We were greeted by a very helpful hostess named Brooke who seemed to know a lot about the restaurant and seated us at a very nice table.The atmosphere was exactly as the reviews explain , very classy and romantic. We shared a delicious scallop appetizer , some filet mignon and a wonderful duck dish . Whoever the chef was , we truly appreciated his culinary expertise I recommend Hal’s for a nice evening out!

I have been enjoying the culinary experience at Hal's Bar and Grill for over 20 years! I love their short ribs whic I could cut with a fork! The food is scrumptious and they offer a great dining experience!
