"It is dawn on an autumn Saturday on London Road, but Halwa Poori House is already filling up. The single digit hours are mainly for solo diners — nighthawks, early risers, and weekend workers — getting a quick fill before families arrive to share steaming bowls of nihaari and scooping up glutinous haleem with bread. But really, everyone is here for halwa poori, that prince’s breakfast served here a la mode on a plastic tray divided into three parts to hold soothing channa (chickpeas), bitter potato, and sweet, carrot orange halwa." - James Hansen

After reading promising reviews, we ventured to 'Halwa Poori,' despite its considerable distance from our home. Arriving around noon on a Thursday, we were greeted by a dull ambiance and not so appealing decor. However, we were solely focused on the food experience. Starting with Halwa puri, it was very good, flaky yet not greasy, halwa was perfect for the puri, not too sweet. Chanay were okay. Moving on to the Biryani, I found it delightful, although my husband found the meat slightly dry. And the portion was a bit too small. We then had Nihari which was no doubt one of the best Restraunt Nehari we had ever tried. Butter naan was good too. I ordered 2 half fried eggs with Paratha which the children devoured, though the Paratha could have been thinner for our liking. We had to remind them again to bring drinks. Achaar and condiments was brought after we had finished Halwa Puri. We also ordered Chai and Naan Kebab roll which never arrived even after finishing the food so we tried to cancel it but I noticed when paying, the Naan roll was just sitting near the till and it was packed for take away (strange). Overall, as I said the ambiance wasn't appealing, the service was too slow but food was very good. Prices are good too. Will we go there again? Errmm.. No, just because it's too far. Had the service been better and the Server was a bit more welcoming, then perhaps Yes!

When we got here the gentleman claimed this was the best Halwa Poori in London and I have to say he wasn’t lying. The food was extremely tasty and came fast but it also tasted fresh. Really recommend

One of the best halwa poori places in London 😋 They serve it everyday from early morning (unlike some other desi places). The aloo parathas were also amazing!

Your typical local Pakistani cafe, no frills, however the food is always fresh, well seasoned and “home made”. The owner is charming and makes a mean masala tea. Very popular with locals which is always a good sign.

Yelp
Great place to relish Halwa poori and Karachi style breakfast The owner here is a warm persona and greets with a smile Makes it a point to ask if the food tasted great Yes it delicious The staff are polite and dutiful too Breakfast time Poori is undoubtedly my favorite breakfast And u can see me gorging upon poori bhaji, poori chole and halwa any time of the day. Halwa Poori chole is a famous breakfast combo which is so filling and nothing can be packed with nutrients in the morning than this breakfast. Halwa Poori Chole combination is quite a popular one and is linked with a ritual in INDIA - Kanjak! Kanjak is celebrated either on the eighth or ninth day of Navratri Kanjak used to be, and to a certain extent still is, one of many favorite festivals. Kids wake up to the sweet smel of hot halwa and fluffy pooris along with dry masala chanaa made in many households Today - tried to explore yet another place in London - famous for its Karachi fare and they USP is Halwa poori chole. Decided to relish this sinful combo and without a doubt it is delicious. The best part about Halwa poori combo - Suji halwa is just done right not too sweet has a dash of ghee and then the chickpeas (kabuli chanaa) curry is mild on spice quo but is melt in mouth one. The aloo sabzi is an added plus. Halwa Poori House - London offers various delicacies like - Halwapoori combos, irani chai, Kunna paya, lamb nihari and Haleem. Will be back soon

Yelp
Stumbled upon this restaurant after a long day exploring London. I am a gluten free vegan and it is hard for me to find food at restaurants. The man who took our order was very accommodating. I had the vegetarian okra curry with rice. I love okra and this was fabulous! The restaurant itself is a bit unwelcoming to look at but the staff is sincere and the food is authentic. My only complaint would be that it is a bit pricey! Overall a nice meal.
