Hampton Pool

Lovely place, lovely staff, good equipment. Met all our needs and got a great jacket The trainer and resident gym man Emanuel is so amazing at his job. If only other gyms were looked after like he does. As a trainer 2nd to none

Pros: large, heated outdoor swimming pool for £9 a swim. Also has a kids pool. Tables and grass area to lounge on plus elevated seating area. Helpful staff and multiple life guards. Cons: cramped and dated changing area and limited showering space. Not enough lane swimming, although I visited at 6pm on a hot day! Sadly people had left a lot of rubbish around the pool area despite access to bins.

Lovely lido, enjoyed my swim very much. Free parking but not a lot of it, could be a problem in busy times. Changing area basic but had everything required. Staff helpful and friendly. Bring a lock for lockers, you can buy them at reception but were quite expensive

I love this pool! Such a great place to swim with the sky open above you. Can get busy in the lanes so make sure you know your own pace vs others. Really fun for a family day out at the pool in the warmer weather (or not). Underfloor heating in the changing rooms is a game changer! Nice hot showers, watch out for the cold spritz ones! Staff are fab and know what they’re doing. My daughters did swimming crash courses here and they were really effective. One of my favourite swimming pools.

I love the pool, water temperature is fine, being outdoor is enjoyable. Swimming experience is quite lovely there. But showers are so old and nothing private. Changing rooms aren’t clean. And surprisingly their blow dryer only works with a 20p coin (for a short time so your hair should be quite short), so don’t forget to have some 20p coins with yourself. Overall, I liked my experience there.

Been a member at Hampton pool for about a year and going at least five times a week but now in the process of cancelling my membership… I have seen the place steadily decline over that period…Very unfriendly staff who in all that time have never said “hello, how are you?” etc, never once.. It seems to have attracted a very macho kind of swimmer, always clipping at your heals in the lanes making the swim deeply unpleasant… Not all of us are training for the Olympics..! Regularly now there are at least seven people in each lane. I’ve notice the older people not coming so much anymore possibly because of the bullying nature of some of the swimmers in the lanes which is very sad… The men’s shower area is tiny with mould on the roof..Often filthy toilets.. Sometimes they decide to clean the floor in the middle of the day so you’re dressing/undressing on a floor soaked with detergent.. The one thing they do get right is the swimming lessons…The coaches are excellent…Especially for kids… On the whole the place seriously needs new management and a massive shake up as Hampton Pool has the potential to be amazing but is often a stressful and intimidating place to swim. Shame…

Heated outdoor pool warm enough for energetic kids or a lane swimmer; gets a bit chilly if you're the supervising adult. Friendly enough on the door. Relaxed about getting changed poolside - there are a few tables.

Do not recommend it at all!! Way too crowded, disgusting showers and changing rooms that no one cleans, and they are way too small. Well basically “showers” is just a tiny room where 3-4 people can shower together🤮🤮 there were way too many people and the lifeguards are useless, they don’t watch or manage the order on the lanes so kids just jump everywhere, which is dangerous. Also you need to bring your lock or have 1 pound coin for the lockers. Reception is not helpful at all, they don’t have any cash. thanks to the lovely lady at the coffee who managed to help, alternatively they told me I can bring everything and leave it inside, it is “safe”. With 200+ people on sight I highly doubt that. Oh and lanes were super narrow. Nothing like at a normal pool. Couldn’t be there for more than 30 min had to leave to never come back again 🤣

Us Brits, eh? Give us an inkling of hot weather and we all race to the beach or the local pool en mass but come the colder months, you couldn't pay us to step near water. I point the finger at myself, by the way, but visiting Hampton open air pool recently made me wonder why I ignore this place for 9 months of the year. One of the things that I love about this pool is that it is open all. year. round. So you could come for a swim on Christmas Day if you wanted. Or, you could come on New Years Day and swim off the hangover from the night before. Before you all run off it horror, let me just tell you that the pool is heated. It is also an Olympic sized pool, which is divided into lanes so you can have a work out at your own pace without some local Michael Phelps coming up behind you. There are plenty of programmes here, like parent toddler, or aqua aerobics - but if you want to swim solo, best bet is to check the timetable website so you can see when the pool is best to visit. It's about £4.50 for a individual swim, but they do lots of packages that knock down the price.

Open air heated pools are fairly rare in the UK and I'm lucky enough to live close to this one. Good sized pool with different lanes for swimmers of different speeds plus an area for non swimming - this morning there was aqua aerobics. There's a separate children's shallow pool and a suntrap of a sun terrace cafe for post swim refreshments. On a sunny September day it's divine. There's a grass area too for sunbathing though in the summer on hot weather days this gets really crowded. There's a gym and a sauna which cost extra. The pool is open everyday including Xmas.

When I was growing up in New York, outdoor pools were the norm, and there were few indoor pools. Having said that, we had summers that were actually hot (sometimes over 90F), and consistently sunny days. This isn't necessarily the case in the London area, so finding an open air pool in Hampton is surprising enough, but finding it's open 365 days a year is perhaps more unexpected. The pools can stay open all year as they are heated. Now, I have to admit that I've never visited in the winter - I rather like being warm a bit too much. However, I do visit occasionally in the summer, and indeed used to more frequently when my daughter was younger. There are two pools, a full sized adult pool, complete with deep end, small slide and diving platform, and a toddlers' paddling pool. Both are heated and the paddling pool is kept a bit warmer than the main pool. The main pool has two or three lanes marked out, and a larger area for 'mucking about'. There is a large grassy area beyond the concreted poolside area. Above the dressing rooms and reception areas is a small cafe. The cafe is adequate, but nothing special. On a fine day in the summer, the pools get VERY crowded, mostly with families with children. The prices are a bit more expensive than council owned pools, but being outdoors with a reasonably large sunbathing areas, it is popular. If you are actually after swimming laps, the lanes are really the only way to do it. The changing rooms are very tired, and could badly do with complete refurbishment. There is nothing like enough onsite parking, and it can be difficult to park on the street on the busiest of days. Still, these baths are a good facility to have. Hampton would lack any such leisure facilities. It would be nice, though, if the facilities were updated.

This is a great pool. There is nothing better than swimming outside. The pool is at a nice temperature in all seasons. The staff are friendly and there's a great cafe to grab a nice coffee.
