30 minutes queue time on Friday where Amoy is less packed. And mind you, I arrived at 11:23 am and there were already 20+ people ahead.
I went for Medium, $8, added fish eggs and rice for a total of $10.50. The clear umami broth and fresh, thick-cut Batang slices were exactly the same as 10 years ago when I last had it. The fish eggs are so fresh with absolutely no fishy smell.
There are negative reviews about the spicy auntie's attitude, but I witnessed her thoughtful gesture of asking an elderly to take a seat while waiting.
Will I queue again? Perhaps only if the queue is less than 30 minutes. Anything beyond, law of diminishing returns kicks in. In fact, I recalled the queue wasn't this crazy last time. As a Teochew fish soup lover (strictly clear broth), I have tried many good quality fish soups across Singapore and can still find comparable quality and value ones without a crazy queue like this.
