I'll be honest, my expectations were low when I looked for a *new* restaurant to try and Hand Cut popped up. I'm not exactly sure where I saw it, but the restaurant was called "Hand Cut Burgers". So I initially thought it was a burger restaurant, like Burger Up. Not to say I don't like burgers but that's not what I was craving. Regardless, I made reservations and I will say my expectations were blown away.
Located on the ground floor of the Embassy Suites in downtown Nashville, Hand Cut is actually "Hand Cut Chophouse", and the restaurant is fantastic. Hand Cut is very energetic with the live music, and I love the modern decor. It's very chic and the establishment exudes classy.
The menu is equally impressive with a nice assortment of chops, burgers, pastas, and drinks. I opted for the ribeye, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. Although the menu isn't large, there is something for everyone.
The grilled ribeye was cooked to perfection, with a nice char and dripping with the house-made garlic butter. Although I'm a huge steak person, the star of the show were the signature sides. The Citrus Grilled Asparagus was a unique twist I never thought to do (and I cook a lot of asparagus at home). The citrus added a nice tart to the not-overcooked, crunchy spears of asparagus. I enjoyed it so much, I started cooking with lemon juice on my asparagus at home. The Black Truffle Mash was smooth, creamy, with that unique truffle oil flavor. Couldn't have asked for better sides!
I'm impressed with this establishment and will definitely return. I know Nashville has a lot of options for these days and I'm glad I stumbled across this one.
