Visited Handel's this weekend in absolutely freezing weather, because, let's face it--there's no such thing as "too cold for ice cream." Apparently, I wasn't the only one with this philosophy, as the outdoor-only seating area had a steady crowd of brave dessert lovers.
First impressions: while I was sad to see Bruster's go, Handel's feels like a worthy replacement. The flavors are reminiscent of Bruster's, but one key difference? The sizing. I ordered a small dip cone, expecting something modest, and was handed a small mountain of five scoops (but I could only pick one flavor--bit of a plot twist there).
Ambiance-wise, the lack of indoor seating might have been charming in warmer months, but standing outside in subzero vibes made me question my life choices for about 0.2 seconds--then I took a bite, and all was forgiven.
Service was friendly and efficient, so no complaints there. But maybe next time, let me mix up my scoops? Because five of the same flavor feels like a commitment I wasn't ready for.
