Handel's Homemade Ice Cream

It was the first time we’ve tried this ice cream place and we loved it! All orders we had (Strawberry, dark chocolate, vanilla with Oreo and mint with Oreo) were very good, especially the strawberry and the vanilla are the favorites. We were surprised by the big portion for the small size we orders, all tasted fresh and the price was very reasonable though! The servers were very nice and quick. We would definitely come back even though it’s far from our location!

Great Ice Cream shop we decided to stop by and try on a nice cold and rainy day. Customer service is great, they have so many homemade flavors to choose from, I don't think there is any flavor someone can't walk away from choosing. The Blue Monster is a popular flavor for my family. The prices are pretty good, you definitely get more than what you pay for. One small scoop here is like $15 bucks for 3 scoops at BR!!! You can choose from cone, cup, or sandwich!!! Give this place a try, great service, and ice cream, also profits help support breast cancer. Customer service is always great here. OMFG, Today i found my new favorite flavor, Cherry Magnolia folks. Cherry ice cream with chunks of cherries, chocolate. And brownie!!! I never liked Cherry Garcia but this one is similar but better 🔥🔥🔥. You folks gotta come and try it out, or any other flavor!! My new fav flavor, Vanilla Caramel Brownie, its awesome. Buy it by the pint!! Cherry Magnolia, i awaits your return!!

First time here, and it's like a typical ice cream place, but with LOTS of flavors, 48 I think. Some were better than others but didn't try a bad one. Good value for the price for sure. Good serving size, and not too much money. Playground right outside for the kid. I'll be going back with my kids for sure

Great ice cream place! Shop was super clean and there was a good amount of seating. There were so many flavor and cone options—I'll definitely be coming back again many times to try them all out! Staff was super helpful and friendly. Special thanks to Rachel for giving me the best flavor suggestions :) My favorites are coffee chocolate chip and french silk pie.

We partnered with Handel's for our wedding as a dessert for our guests, and BOY were they a hit! Folks kept coming back to try out all the flavors we had available. Their team couldn't have been easier to work with, kinder, and more professional. Highly recommend their smores flavor!!

We will be coming back to Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream each day before we leave town. There are so many flavors to pick from (like another famous chain ice cream shop), but what sets Handel’s apart is the depth of flavor of each variety, and the whole chunks in just about every single bite. Our server took great pride in his work as their ice cream maker—he very generously offered us a tasting experience of several flavors akin to a wine tasting. Being from Hawai`i, we had to sample the Taro flavor—and it was better than any taro ice cream we’ve ever had in HI! We also tried the horchata—again, an unanticipated flavor blast. The buckeye and pistachio were both laden with whole chunks and nuts. We sampled also the black cherry and black raspberry truffle—filled with real fruit and large chocolate hunks. Fantastic service and clean shop. Looking forward to our next visit!

We were so pleasantly surprised at how good this ice cream actually is! We got a sampler (really two because they were buy one get one free) and all four flavors were SO YUMMY! We chose strawberry, birthday cake, sea salt caramel (my fave), and vanilla caramel brownie. My husband who does not usually like chocolate ate every bit. We would absolutely order from them again! Maybe tonight…😁

Just went today for the first time and I was not disappointed. I had a small waffle cone with Cake Batter and it was so good. It was $6.00 something, a little under $7.00. I got a lot of ice cream, they were generous with their servings. My husband got the medium waffle cone with Blue Monster and paid $9.00 something. His serving was also pretty big. The young staff seemed friendly and the place was clean. There were two tables in the building to sit on, the place is small. There is a playground right outside the doors with more tables.

We walked into Handel's and were immediately greeted by a kind worker. I was able to sample some flavors before ordering. The ice cream here is my favorite! I got cheesecake with oreo and it is a perfect texture and a great way to cool off on a warm day. The location is convenient and has a lot of parking. They have a mix of classic flavors and some unique ones. Flavors rotate out every now and then. Highly recommend Handel's ice cream!

I really enjoyed this place. Wife and I had been wanting to go for a while but it just never worked out until now, and we are thoroughly pleased. One of the taglines of this place is "we never skimp" and they're not lying whatsoever, but I have no idea if they were referring to the quality or the quantity because every portion size is big and so is the taste. And this is coming from the guy who always wants tons of ice cream. I recommend getting small or medium size if it's 1-2 people and large for anything else. The taste of it all was great too. We ended up getting the 4 Scoop Sampler and tried out a few flavors instead of just having one or two. For the record: Graham Central Station was our absolute favorite. I'm looking forward to our next visit already and thankfully I won't have to wait long since it's literally right down the road from us.

So many yummy flavor options. And big big servings. The ice cream was good, not the best ever but I would eat it again. They also have a great shaded playground for kids.

There are SO many choices of delicious ice cream flavors. Everyone who worked here was very nice and helpful. I wish they would let you get different flavors in a small cup as I wanted to try more flavors but couldn't eat that much. I got Ooohh dough, I think. It was vanilla with orea and cookie dough. The ice cream was very good. Creamy, rich, and delicious. My only complaint, as a germaphobe, is that the lady who handed my ice cream wasn't wearing gloves, and it looked as though she may have touched my ice cream, but again, that's me being silly. I Def need to come back and try the Taro and banana creme pie flavors.

Yum! Handel's is less than a mile from our house, and we always love getting this sweet treat on the weekends with all of their seasonal selections to boot! The employees are so friendly, helpful with samples and do well to answer questions you have. There is an outdoor playscape, indoor and outdoor seating and it's always pretty busy on the weekends, quieter in the weekdays. Finally, get a stamp card and if you continue to go back, you can get yourself a free return scoop! Yay ice cream! My personal fav is the strawberry cheesecake - because yum chunky decadence of cheesecake in my ice cream is a delicious treat! I've had their ice cream sandwich, handel's pop and floats and everything is good! Plus, there's even a walk up window, now that's convenient!

This has to be the best ice cream in tx. So many flavors. The team was so nice. Price was good. Make sure to drive here to check this out.

If ice cream parlors are your happy place, you won't go wrong at Handel's in a strip mall in northwest Austin. I don't know if I'd call it the best ice cream I've ever had, but it's well made and better priced than many other options in the city. Per its website, you can find over a hundred different flavors of ice cream, sherbets and ices and many of them are quite imaginative. My favorites so far are Graham Central Station and Key Lime Pie. The staff is very friendly and ready to help with any questions, and as you might guess, it's a perfect place to take the kids.

A really great family friendly neighborhood ice cream store! I went for the first time the other week and tried their banana split, ice cream sampler, and their blondie sundae with their most popular flavors and they were all delicious. I genuinely don't think that you could go wrong with anything here. All the staff members are extremely sweet and open to help. They make everything in house and the owners are families that live in the neighborhood so the community energy is top notch! If you're debating what to get, definitely ask the staff! Their recommendations were so fire.

Our favorite place to satisfy our ice cream craving!! I think Handel's is the most underrated ice cream shop in Austin; given they have more than 30 flavors of delicious ice cream, different type of cones, and the most affordable price (if you have many children, this place is for you as the whole family can can enjoy the ice cream often without breaking a bank). The best part for me is, I normally cannot handle ice cream/dairy well, but I was fine every time eating Handel's ice cream (no upset stomach). A+ FOOD: Their ice cream flavors are true to the flavor and there are so many options to choose from. You can even ask them for samples before making your decision! Their flavors DO NOT taste artificial. OUR FAVORITES: - Pumpkin cheesecake chunk (so good with so many pieces of cheesecake) - Graham Central Station (YOU NEED IT) - Key Lime Pie (refreshing, tastes like real dessert) - French silk pie - Chocoholic chunk - Black Cherry - Blueberry cobbler - Chocoholic peanut butter ripple TIPS: 1) We always get their 4-scoop sampler(s) and buy extra waffle cones so we can make our own 4-(or 6) scoop cone! Yes, you bet I customized my own ice cream cone! Why you may ask?! It's because if you buy their medium or large cone (3 or 4?scoops respectively), you can only get 2 flavors which I don't like that. I love more options! 2) You can check out their website online (Handel's Anderson Mill) for their available flavors for this particular location before heading over there, so you have your choices ready (save time and you won't hold up the line when they're busy). SERVICE: For our first time, the also told us to ask for a sample of any flavors we would like to try before buying it. We have been there a couple of times now, and every time we went there, their staff were always friendly and knowledgeable. AMBIENCE/LOCATION: it is located in Plaza Volente, a shopping center that is anchored by HEB on FM620, and other restaurant chains like Torchy's Tacos. Thus, parking spaces are not an issue here. Their store is quite small as there are only a few tables inside but they also have seating outdoors and playscape for kids to play as well. PRICE: They have the most affordable price ice cream in town in my opinion given the quality is as great as other hyped ice cream shops in Austin. Even though their scoop is smaller but I don't mind it as you can enjoy more flavors this way and are not too stuffed by the time you're done. VERDICT: All in all, I highly recommend this place. Check it out and thank me later!

I come here just about every Monday to treat myself, my son, and sometime some extra friends/family to some of the best ice cream I've ever had. I'm trying to be adventurous with my ice cream flavors, and while I have tried a few, I don't know if I'll be able to try them all. But every flavor that I have tried has been equally as delicious as the previous. I cannot recommend Handel's enough! I will forever encourage everyone I know to experience this deliciousness!

Flavors we got: cherry vanilla, French silk pie, chocolate, blueberry cobbler I like the inside retro look. The have outside tables and seating as well! The ice cream flavors are a bit too sweet for me but if you like cake bits, a lot of their flavors have them! The French Silk Pie is probably my top choice from the four scoop sampler. They have various cone and bowl options. The small size is 3 1/2 scoops but it can only be with one flavor. If you want multiple flavors, you will have to get medium or large (or the sampler ). You can also order cones on the side. They don't have a restroom.

HUGE portions! I got a small and it was about 2.5 scoops of ice cream! Definitely shareable too if you're a bit light on sweets. They have a huge range of flavors and it was pretty hard to pick one (also - because their font on the menu was so small ha). I ended up getting the blue monster and it was your classic cookies and cream, which was good. There's only a couple of tables outdoors and then a few small tables indoors, so more of a grab and go place than a place to hang, but overall, a solid ice cream place in Cedar Park!

Great ice cream with tons of different flavors. You can make a shake out of them as well. Small ice cream shop, some bar seating and one table inside and then 4 tables outside There is a playground outside right next to the shop. Service was pretty quick, one person takes the order and there a few other people behind who start getting your order ready. The only feedback would be if they I will there was a way to fully separate the 4 flavor in the sampler so they don't mix

If you haven't tried Hansel's Homemade Ice Cream you are missing out! Oh em gee is this place good! I haven't actually made my way inside of this establishment so I can't speak on the ambiance or the service but I have ordered this ice cream for delivery a few times now and wow is it good! They have so many different flavors to choose from! I've tried the French Silk Pie, Cherry Vanilla, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. All three flavors were delicious! The ice cream itself isn't your typical soft serve ice cream (which is my favorite) but it is definitely soft! Even after freezing. If I could, I would eat ice cream all day everyday but since I can't, this is my special treat to myself and it's well worth the calories! Definitely recommend!

We definitely have our new go to spot! For the longest time, we have been making the treck down to Lakeway to get our favorite ice cream. The problem is, it was nearly 20 minutes to get there which made it rarely worth it. After seeing the Handel's sign come up, we have been counting down the days for them to open. We went opening weekend and couldn't be happier. The ice cream is fantastic! I will say, the menu is quite confusing. It's not clear what is include with what or what you can and can't do. A few things to help: Small cone: Two small scoops of the same flavor Medium Cone: Four small scoops, but you can get different flavors Four Flavor Sampler: Four small scoops with four different flavors. They are still figuring things out (which is probably why we got the saddest fourth scoop size in our order) but I won't hold them to that. The ice cream makes it worth it.

We have been here twice now and the ice cream is delicious! The first time I came in, I was quite confused. I asked the kid behind the counter where the lost of ice cream flavors were. He indicated on the giant board above him. I thought those were sundae flavors. They are in fact just really interesting combinations. The gentleman that served us the last time I believe is the owner and is very kind. They let you sample flavors. My daughter loves the birthday cake. My favorite so far is the strawberry cheesecake. I think the guy said they have about 45 flavors. Some stay while others rotate.

fantastic ice cream and reasonably priced! quick and easy snack for a warm day! the flavors were so rich - solid ice cream. i liked the strawberry cheesecake more but only marginally over the blueberry cobbler.

We stopped here for an ice cream craving. This place located near an H-E-B on 620 with a Torchys tacos as a neighbor. We decided on a couple of sundaes and to be honest I thought they were smaller than my expectations. The ice cream and toppings are of good quality. They do have a loyalty card if you buy 10 cones you get the 11th free. They also offer catering, but one thing you are not going to find is a public restroom. A good acceptable ice cream place to bring the kids and they can play on the small playscape outside.

My husband is a huge ice cream lover. He's always asking for some. So when Handels opened down the road, you already know he was excited. Finally tried it yesterday. Wow. I'm impressed. One of their taglines are "we don't skimp" and they ain't kidding. I saw someone get a "small" cone and when she recieved it, even she said "this is a small??" Haha. It was towering. Anyway, we got the 4 scoop sampler. If you wanna try different flavors for a good price, I recommend that! It was enough for both my husband and I. The flavors are delish!! My favorite so far is Graham Central Station. The prices are pretty good too! I def see ourselves returning.

Long line was worth it! We tried blueberry cobbler and coffee chip ice cream on waffle cones. So good! The staff was kind and helpful even with the busy line. Cute, traditional place as well.

New ice cream shop in the neighborhood. They got a playground for the kids too! Definitely a great family spot and dessert place given the number of restaurants in the area. Their staff are helpful in letting you sample things but it might take a while. I was personally overloaded trying to figure out which of the millions of flavors I wanted to try. I say definitely get the blueberry cobbler and the pineapple upside down cake. The latter is sweeter but both are rich, custardy and flavor packed. I like the fruit to make it feel a bit healthier...Key lime pie and ore dough are also good. I'm sure everything is good...

Oh My Oh My ... tried Handels for the first time & let me just say WE ARE GOING BACK. I got the Coconut Caramel Delight and my husband got the Chocoholic one. The coconut was so smooth and creamy with the perfect amount of caramel swirls. The chocoholic one was a very nice deep dark chocolate ice cream with chocolate chunks. Like that they have a small play area for kids to play while they are on sugar high .

Reservation: Stopped by at 8 pm on a Sunday and it was a short wait. Ambiance: It's in a very cool little area in walking distance of a lot of things and feels pretty safe at night. Food: Pretty great ice cream as far as ice creams go. Scoops are really big so keep that in mind when ordering. Small portion is 2 scoops! Would I come back?: The ice cream was good but the staff seemed somewhat unsure of what they were doing. We tried asking for a small cone with one scoop instead of two and we were told we can't do that and it has to be the two. We then asked for one scoop of one ice cream and another scoop of another one and got told no but that they can give us two of each. Didn't help that the staff dropped the ice cream on the counter and then tried handing it to us as If nothing happened. Id give them another shot to see if things are better the second time around.

The Cedar Park Foodies group has come through with another fantastic find! This place was awesome-very family friendly. From the plethora of ice cream flavors to the old school vibe of the shop, this ice cream spot has it all. I was even pleasantly surprised to discover they have a playground for the kids! That way after they eat their ice cream they can run around and burn off all of that sugar, lol! I had the birthday cake flavor ice cream and it might be on my top 5 list of the best birthday cake ice cream I've ever had-we are talking chunks of cake and icing mixed in with the ice cream-divine! Service was great, the employees let us sample any flavor of ice cream we wanted before for making a selection, and the portion sizes are WILD! One of their mottos is "We Don't Skimp" and they absolutely lived up to they saying. We got a medium and it was HUGE-multiple scoops of ice cream. I think next time we'll go with the small size but even that is a hefty serving! Look forward to making a return trip-the perfect way to cool off after a long day outside or by the pool. They've got seating inside and outside as well where you can enjoy your ice cream. Don't forget the playground after! Your kids will love it.

We were so excited to have an ice cream shop open close by. Nothing wrong with frozen custard, which is everywhere in ATX or CP, but I just love Ice Cream more. Crazy selection of flavors and each one is unique and tasty(French Silk Pie is my fave) they have Hurricanes which is blended ice cream with toppings mixed in(Like a blizzard) shakes, sundaes etc. The staff is super nice, but it can get a bit busy on the weekend evenings, for sure!!! Two bad things, and not sure if it is their issue, but still give them 5 stars. The first is you can order them with Door Dash and even with the heat, gets there cold. However, the menu is limited to only ice cream scoops, Hurricanes, and frozen treats. No shakes, sundaes, etc, are available, and that stinks as Door Dash is the best way to avoid the line and get it in 20 minutes. The other is several times when I have ordered Hurricanes for my kids, Door Dash reads it as "alcohol" and the only way to place the order is to add my driver's license to it like I am actually ordering real beer/wine or drinks. I let Door Dash know, and the last two times no issue, but it is sporadic when it requests so, hopefully, fixed. When it does, the driver has to see your license and scan it to complete their transaction, which is a pain and defeats contactless. LOVE IT and GO so they stay in biz, we need great ice cream in CP/NWATX!

A great dessert spot in the neighborhood! Plenty of fun and unique flavors. Half of the indoor space is the kitchen, which limits seating but there is additional seating outside as well as a cute little playground. Service was friendly and our cashier patiently gave us the rundown of the menu even though there was a line behind us. Will be back!

This place is like your birthday every day! Want a scoop of ice cream ... try three minis by default. Yes, please!!!! Get a cone or a bowl plus endless flavors and combos. Also, the flavors are sweet yet subtle rather than overpowered with sugar. So far, have tried the Key Lime Pie, Lemon Bar, Orange Sherbet, Mint Chocolate, and Chocolate (though not at the same time...but go for it)!!! These are new faves. Try this place and make it a sundae, shake, malt, concrete, sammich, and more. The Team is eager to assist and orders are fast even when busy. Awesomesauce!!!

Their black cherry ice cream is a favorite. I buy 2 pints to go and enjoy them at home too. I also love their chocolate pecan with roasted , buttered & salted pecans.

Conveniently located by heb and torchys so you can have dessert first and then grab some dinner to take home! Great service. I was there for the opening and stood in line for an hour ish and the employees didn't miss a beat that day. My son and his dad are big fans of the cake one.

Just left Handel's. We got two small ice cream cones (one in a cake cone, one in a waffle cone) total $10.50. We might have gotten the smallest scoops of ice cream I've ever seen. Maybe 1/4 c in each cone. When pressed down, the scoop didn't fill the cake cone. Seriously, for $4.50, one would think there would be more ice cream than cone. Sorry, Handel's, we won't be back.

I went to the new location in San Antonio, and the service was slow as expected. Since they just opened, they are working out the kinks, but the ice ream was delicious!! Its open concept, so you see everything happening, and thats a cool thing. I will come back soon!

Stopped at Handel's twice in the last couple weeks - both experiences were great. Stellar value all around - many delicious flavors, lots of serving options - cone, cup, milkshake etc. It was post dinner for our first visit and was crowded, but the line moved quickly. 2nd visit was with kiddos on a day off from school - youngest played on the playground after eating while oldest & I enjoyed our treat at a table in the afternoon shade. Definitely worth the trip if we have another stop to make anywhere in northwest Austin.

The ice cream is good. Lots of yummy chunks in the mix. It's a little confusing to order and they're still working out some kinks, but it's great to have this ship in the area.

We are visiting from San Diego and we LOVE this Handel's location. Super clean and inviting, the staff is friendly and helpful and best of all the ice cream is absolutely delicious!! Location is awesome with a little playground for the kiddos right next to it.

I was so excited to hear that a Handle's was coming to town, after having frequented them while we lived in San Diego. The variety of flavors makes it hard to choose from, that's why I opt for the 4 scoop sampler. The horchata will forever please my Hispanic taste buds, but you really can't go wrong with anything on their menu.

What a tremendous location and great summer hang out. We had the Graham Central Station and Mint Chocolate Oreo. Both flavors were wonderful and there portions are foodie approved. The locations opens up to a great little play area for young children. Great place for families and great location for a nice treat. We'll be back for sure!

I loved this place! They have SO many flavor choices to pick from. They will let you sample anything! The employees were great and patient as my kids took forever to decide what they wanted. The small scoops cone was free and they gave me cups too so my kids weren't wearing it all. We got the kids small scoops and they were nice sized. The ice cream was smooth and creamy. It tasted great. They had some fun and creative flavors. There is a little playground next to the business and 2 outdoor picnic tables in addition to a few indoor tables. We will be back!
