H&H Bagels

This was our first time at H&H. We were really excited to try it. We’ve been to one in NY, but this DC one is not it. The service was snail pace, even though they were moving quickly? Our order was backed up at the end of line for quite a few minutes and people behind us got their order first. Each bagel came individually and in its own bag, so we got one bagel 5 minutes before the other one. Now, to the bagels, we thought they’d be on the same lines as Call Your Mother or Pearls Bagels - they are not. The bagels taste very artificial. There is a weird aftertaste, and we each got a different bagel, but yet they both tasted the same - chemically. The bagel itself was also dry. In terms of the taste of the toppings and cream cheese, it was flavorless. No seasonings. No flavor. Our bagels with cheese also had little to no cheese on them. Tried to say something at the counter but there were about 10 to 20 people waiting to either order, pay, or for their food and the inside is cramped inside. Overall, highly do not recommend. Do yourself a favor and stick with the tried and true DMV bagel spots, Call Your Mother or Pearls. I ended up throwing the bagels in the trash.

We stopped in here while we were town for an event at the convention center and it was very good! Even though it was a Sunday morning, we were immediately welcomed and our order taken. It was not a very long wait for the food to be ready. We ordered the spicy sausage egg and cheese, an onion bagel with plain cream cheese, and a plain bagel with scallion cream cheese. Everything was very good! Unfortunately, I did not get the scallion cream cheese on the plain bagel, but it was still good with the plain.

The BEC was good and same with the cold brew, added caramel syrup to it, but I have to give a 1 star rating because there was a staple in my boyfriend's bagel. He was eating and pulled an opened up staple out of his mouth. That's so dangerous, I'm not sure how that happens when the bagel should've been wrapped up before going into a bag and getting stapled. It was overpriced too, the turkey/avocado bagel cost $17 - would not recommend based on this experience.

I tried H&H Bagels on Too Good To Go. The variety, size and texture remind me of the bagel shops in NYC. If you’re a fan of a sweet schmear, try the strawberry cream cheese.

Mediocre bagel and bagel sandwich. The egg was over peppered, and the bagel didn’t quite deliver the NY style nostalgia I was hoping for. I ordered online and received an automated message saying it could take up to 30 minutes. When I arrived about 15 minutes later, my food was already ready, but received a “order ready” notification an hour after my order was placed.

One of the worst bagels I’ve had in my life. The service was exceptional, and I wish nothing but success for the attentive and kind people who work here. However, their hard work cannot make up for the fact that the bagel itself had a sponge-like texture with an odd moisture to it and was cloyingly sweet (plain bagel - not toasted). The ingredients inside the bagel sandwich, however, were fresh and prepared well. If this weren’t a bagel restaurant, I would give it another shot. Unfortunately, you cannot get anything without a bagel, and they are worse that those I’ve had at a complimentary continental breakfast at a 3-star hotel.

I don't like these bagels. I've tried them twice, the first time I just ordered a half dozen and the second time I ordered a sandwich. The bagels are very dry and they are small. My jaw really gets a workout from chewing them. For my sandwich, my bagel was supposed to be lightly toasted but it wasn't toasted at all. The sandwich ingredients were fine. I also want to comment on the excessive packaging. I got a bagel sandwich and an iced tea. I received three paper bags, a large quantity of plastic wrap which was wrapped around my iced tea, and the bagel sandwich was wrapped in paper and then foil. Too much packaging and they don't even include a napkin.

The bagel itself is great. Definitely want use it for ordering a bakers dozen in the future. Unfortunately, the cream cheese is “wet” …have tried 2 times and both times the cream cheese gets everywhere and the bagel doesn’t hold together well. Would love to see thicker cream cheese, and I wouldn’t have complaints about the bagels! The bagel & lox is NYC pricing, so likely won’t pay for that one again. Got 2 regular bagels & a coffee today and that came to the same price as the bagel & lox I got last time (pictured)

Are they the best in the city? No. Are they top 3 that i know of? Maybe. Def top 5. Loved that pumpernickel is an option. Reasonably priced bagel breakfast sandwiches. Decent toppings. Is it pearls? No. Is it call your mother? Thank freaking goodness no. That place has atrocious bagels I ordered a dozen through DoorDash for delivery. Would i get their overpriced whipped cream cheese again? No. But id get a bagel. Probably not worth going out of your way. But better than some of the other popular for no reason overpriced options round here. Still took forever even with door dash so lines are presumably long.

3.5-4. Decent bagels, but there's a much better option nearby... These bagels taste old - I believe they're shipped in, the texture isn't the best but the bagels themselves taste good. They have options that other shops don't (pumpernickel, asiago). The breakfast sandwich was ok but the components again weren't the best - thin sausage patty, nothing notable about the eggs/cheese. Does the trick but again there are better options around. Ordered early on a weekend - online ordering said 50 minutes but the store was empty and they just made the order when I walked in.

ordered the Avocado, Egg & Cheese off their menu with a Sesame bagel and, Scrambled eggs --- the bagel itself was nice and fluffy but what missed the mark for me were the toppings: unseasoned avocado slipped off of my sandwich, the ratio of egg and cheese to avocado, and the melty cheese didn't sit well with me overall, happy I tried this on a Sunday morning but it was an underwhelming bagel experience

So good! Generous with the portion and great quality. Reminded me of living in NYC! Ordered via DoorDash and it was quick and easy (though they charge about three dollars more when you order this same item for delivery probably to offset DoorDash cut, so go in person if you can!)

I ordered H&H to go via delivery, so I do not have a review of the in-store experience. I'll re-review when I do. I decided to get the everything wheat bagel with the spicy scallion cream cheese, with cucumber and tomato. The star of the show was the spicy scallion cream cheese - yes, it's actually spicy! Good kick, the tomato and cucumber balanced the spice well. The bagel itself was a good combination of firmness and soft. A relatively good size as well. The iced coffee was also fantastic. I just added a little sweetener. Overall, a very tasty breakfast. I look forward to trying more of the menu in the future. Welcome to D.C., H&H!

So excited to see H&H open in DC! We came early Friday morning and ordered right away. It took a little longer than usual to get our food but the employees were very apologetic. I got the spicy sausage egg and cheese on a jalapeño cheddar bagel. It also comes with spicy scallion cream cheese, pepper jack cheese and spicy southwest sauce. It was so good! The spicy scallion cream cheese may be some of the best spreads I've had. It had a really good kick to it, and worked well with the sausage and egg on the sandwich. It's a messy sandwich but delicious! We also got the regular egg and cheese sandwich which was ok. We definitely liked the spicy sausage one more. There's some seating inside, so we were able to grab a table and finish our sandwiches inside. Overall this was a great spot and we'll definitely be back!

H&H offers a decent a bagel in a city severely lacking in good NY-style bagels. I was able to order online, though there was no line for my early morning pickup, so I also placed an in-store order. I love that I can get a pumpernickel bagel. The lox was very good, so I appreciated that. I didn't notice any sable, though. I also enjoyed their nitro cold brew. I think the bagel itself is a little lacking in flavor. Staff was extremely friendly and they have a decent about of seating. I'd return if in the area.

Ok so I've never been to the original so I don't know how it compares but overall I was pretty happy! Had the spicy sausage egg and cheese on Asiago and I thought it was great. The Jalepeno cream cheese really was the star in making this great. It also is incredibly messy so it definitely is not an order and way why you walk bagel but luckily they have some seating.And it was about 10 dollars which is pretty cheap for DC. The service was super friendly. I came on a Saturday around 1 or 2 and didn't have to wait long for my food. Def check this place out.

Waiting about 25 minutes for two bagels sandwiches on a Sunday around 12 pm. Service was slow and staff seemed disorganized, which is expected with a recently opened business...but on top of that the food was underwhelming. I'd definitely recommend skipping it for other local bagel places, like Pearl's.

This NY originated bagel shop has opened in Mount Vernon Triangle - their menu offers egg and specialty sandwiches, spread sandwiches, to-go bagels, and various beverages. We ordered: +the Nova Salmon with the Works - choice of bagel with smoked Nova, choice of cream cheese, sliced tomatoes, onions, and capers; I went for the Everything bagel and the Scallion cream cheese +the Whitefish Salad - choice of bagel with housemade whitefish salad, lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and onions; I went for the Pumpernickel +a Jalapeno Cheddar bagel +an Asiago Cheese bagel +a Sesame bagel +an Onion bagel +an Egg bagel +and, tubs of Vegetable, Spicy Scallion, and Jalapeno cream cheeses Service was friendly and pretty efficient! The line was long with patrons that had anticipated for this opening, but the staff were able to move it along. +friendly service +go early +efficient process

Very solid bagels. Definitely in the top 3 in the DC area. They're a bit pricey, but they have the correct bagel texture and flavor. Sandwiches are quite good, but it's really about the bagel on which they deliver.

Not Worth It. Waited 45+ minutes for two bagels on a Friday morning...way too long. When I finally got mine, it was wrong. Ordered Taylor ham, got plain deli ham. Bagel itself was mid at best. Super underwhelming. Won't be back

Quick option for breakfast. Lots of options. Blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese cost $5.50. You decide if that's high. But place was clean. Staff friendly. Bagel was fresh and there were four strawberry cream cheese had actual chunks of strawberry in it.

Honestly, one big disappointment. The only I liked about my bagel was that it had a sweetness to it which I'm not used to. I think that's how they make them in Montreal. But the bagel was mid. The cream cheese was flavorless, I got the tofu one. I order the LEO with smoked salmon, egg and onions. The onions were diced which I didn't fancy. Also, it's prepared like an omelet. Smoked salmon should be cold! Not cooked up with eggs and big chunks of onion. I would come back and try another one but the bagel alone wasn't even good.

As a bagel-lover, I was super excited when I randomly stumbled upon an Instagram post announcing this new bagel shop was opening--and that it hails from New York. Just to preface, I don't have high standards for bagels--if it's not rock hard, I will happily eat it! I visited on their grand opening day, and all things considered, things ran pretty smoothly. The staff had to deal with a few difficult customer situations (one person insisting they placed an online order and just wanted a quick plain bagel with cream cheese, another asking for a free tote because they waited in line with everyone else, etc.), but what I presume was the manager handled it all with patience and professionalism. Shamefully, I was that person who forgot to add tubs of cream cheese to my order and had to ask for them at the register (I apologized profusely). The employee he asked to grab them for me forgot, so I had to go back up and ask again. Surprisingly, the manager still remembered exactly which flavors I ordered--despite helping dozens of other people in between. The gentleman who took my order was kind, and honestly, every employee I encountered was friendly and helpful. The space is on the smaller side, but there's still a decent amount of seating for a quick bite. Now, onto the bagel--it was amazing. I got an Asiago bagel with Scallion CC, and it was soft, perfectly chewy (without hurting your jaw!), and toasted just right. I personally love a generous schmear, and they definitely delivered. You can tell they make their cream cheese in-house--the scallion flavor was strong in the best way, and it was packed with chunks of fresh scallion. I also grabbed a dozen bagels to-go (Everything, Jalapeño Cheddar, Asiago, and Blueberry), along with tubs of Scallion and Veggie CC. My family raved about the Veggie CC (which I haven't tried yet). Unfortunately, I realized later in the day that the two Blueberry bagels were missing. While a little disappointing, I technically paid for 10--H&H's "dozen" is a buy-10-get-2-free deal--so I wasn't shorted on what I paid for. As expected with anything in DC, parking isn't the easiest. That said, street parking is available on all surrounding streets + there is a lot right next to them (though I can't imagine how much they charge for parking). I don't make trips into DC often (I truly hate driving in the city), but I'd happily go out of my way for these bagels. Worth it!

Ordering experience was really easy, family enjoyed the food. Would love a gluten free option even if it's pre packaged.

Growing up in the NYC area, I was super excited to try this place. Unfortunately, this place does not live up to the hype. The bagels are not up to NY standards. They are tasteless.

I got the turkey bacon with avocado sandwich. It is absolutely delicious! fresh, chewy, and full of flavor. The staff is very friendly and the ambience is amazing. If you're in the DC area, don't forget to stop by H&H Bagels. A must-try!

We were so excited to hear they were coming to DC! We knew opening day would be crazy but the line moved pretty quickly only about 15 minutes. Bagels came out hot and in less than 5 minutes. The scallion cream cheese with an everything bagel is amazing! We even got a free tote bag and $5 gift card.

The bagel was mid honestly completely overhyped and aside from that I was very confused on why there was a literal child running behind the counter where my sandwich was being made ....... What is this a sweat shop ! You guys need to do better !

I went there during the opening week on 2 separate trips. the good - Convenient location, bagels are good, online ordering is helpful. the so-so - They are new and have some kinks to work through with the instore ordering/paying process. The flow isn't right and gets jammed waiting at the register for your food to be ready. Got a bagel with cream cheese and the spread was very light, too light really. Recommendation - If you want egg on a bagel, order online from H&H. Any other type of bagel, walk the extra block to Pearl Bagels down the street.

I was so excited when I heard H&H was coming to the DMV. I drove up there this morning from Alexandria first thing. Off the bat, the restaurant was really laid out nice, and the staff was friendly. First disappointment came when they don't have Salt Bagels? I was disappointed. I ordered 1/2 dz bagels with 1/2 lb regular Cream Cheese. The gentle scooped into a container and put it in the bag. When I got back to the house, I actually weighed the container and it was only .7 oz container and all. Right there dropped another star. I also weighed the bagel and it was 4oz. THAT IS NOT A "NEW YORK" STYLE BAGEL. Once I got past the disappointment of the underweight cream cheese, and "New York" style bagel, I actually tasted what they had to offer. It was not bad, a little sweet for some odd reason, but not her write home about. It looked and tasted more like a commercial bagel you get at Safeway. I really wanted to provide a higher rating, but I need to be brutally honest. Huge disappointment. Best of luck in your endeavors Mark

Bagels were a little underwhelming. Lots of hype but didn't live up the expectations. The bagels were drier than I hoped. The eggs and other filling was really good though.

Great place reminds me of NYC. The help were all friendly they made me feel welcome. The bagel cream cheese and lox were delicious. The location was very clean.

Delivery order was incomplete and there is no way to contact the store other than going in. Unfortunate. Do not recommend ordering online for delivery.

Ordered a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. The chicken salad was ok but a bit dry. The extra mayo requested was absent and the croissant was of miserable quality, ice cold and falling apart. For $18 it fell far short of acceptable.

I moved to the area less than a year ago and have been on the hunt for the best bagel. I keep thinking I find it but then I try one that's even better. Yesterday I tried H&H, which recently opened up, and I just might have a new #1! Excited to come back and try a few different items. Also, the coffee was very fresh, even at 3pm when I visited.

If you're hoping for a real New York bagel, this isn't it. Bacon egg and cheese sandwich was good but the bagel itself was nothing special. Missing that chewy texture and heft of a good bagel, not much better than a grocery store bagel. Small" portion of spreads and such are VERY small (think salad dressing container size). $6 container of chicken salad was no more than two bites. Probably won't be back.

Do not go here until they get their shit together. The staff was entirely overwhelmed, they had absolutely no system to producing the bagels and servicing customers in line. We waited 30 minutes from the time we ordered until we got the bagel and watched multiple other people get their orders. The bagel was a sloppy mess because they were just trying to shove product out the door. If I had not already paid I would have left without my food. Awful start to my day. Thought these bagels were overrated when I tried them in nyc, and they're definitely still overrated. Go to Pearls bagels instead.
