WOW 10⭐ We ate the supreme pizza, super hot soooo delicious. Burger family special with cheese, tasted like a trendy burger spot really good. The fettuccine chicken Alfredo, was creamy with a great large plate serving, SUPER YUMMY. All the food was really hot and YUMMY, Very secluded spot hope many can find it and stop by to enjoy their TASTY food. The guys there are very friendly.🙂🍕

So I use to live near here way back in the late 70s to early 80s when I went to college at LMU ( Loyola Marymount University). And it's nice and amazing that it's still here AND just as important the food is just so darn tasty. The people behind the counter have always been nice and the atmosphere has that laid back beach life feel while still getting your food to you in a timely manor. The only thing that has really changed that I can tell is that back when I was in college - Hank's was open 24 hours. After all these years Hank's still has my favorite Italian sausage sandwich that I ever had at any restaurant so far. I've traveled across the US and back several times and have eaten at so many Italian restaurants I couldn't remember them all ( love Italian food ) What makes the Italian sandwich here so awesome - start with the bread - it's has a nice crispy exterior but a soft interior. The tomato sauce has a nice complex but not overwhelming Italian seasoning sauce and a bit of sweetness from the tomatoes. The Italian sausage is of the sweet or some call it mild but it marries up with the red sauce that is perfect. It is finished of with a big helping of Italian cheese with mozzarella being the primary component. One other minor thing has changed back in the day - they use to add one or two Pepperoncini peppers on top of all that delicious cheese. I'm getting hungry for one now - unfortunately I now live in Northern California so I can't go here as often as I would like - but usually find a way to stop by when I'm in the area - in fact will go out of my way just to grab something to eat. The place is cute and does have some seating inside and out - but the beach is just a few blocks away - it's much better to get it to go and head out to the beach - and if they don't have something you want to drink at Hanks - it is right by a small market with more choices for your instant picnic at the beach.

The food here is delicious! I'm really picky about pizza but the food was so good here that we ate here 3 days in a row. I love their pizza crust. Their veggie burger was good and my friends said they make some I have the best buffalo wings. They also deliver to the dockweiler RV Park which is just great for when you're camping.

Out for a bike ride, decided to check this place out. Great place for burger and fries or a slice of pizza at a reasonable price! There's also a cool little patio behind the restaurant. I will definitely return! 🍔🍕🚲 #foodie #biking #localbusiness

Great Pizza, Cozy little spot near the Beach. I came here 3 times so far and the Food is consistent, Staff is friendly and prices are very low considering it is a Few blocks from the Beach. I would Highly recommend you give it a try and take home a Pie. Mangia Mangia

Discovered Hank's back in the day just by walking by and being hungry at the time, and their pizza hooked me ever since. Over the years, I've tried all their pizzas, and they don't disappoint. Always taste great and perfect for dinner, movie nights, and hosting parties. If it's pizza you know you want, this place is a famous LA pizza joint for a reason.

I walk by the this place often and the small pizza spot vibes pulled me in to a tasty surprise. I ordered a jalapeño pepperoni pizza and it was wonderful. My partner commented that their marinara pizza sauce was full or flavor and one of the he has had. The chili cheese fries were good with plenty of cheese. Overall, this is a great spot for pizza!

Google
Turkey cheese burger, pastrami cheese, Philly cheese steak sandwich, im going crazy in a good way. Best food and the delivery is fast and great 👍🏼😃 the photos are of their pastrami and Philly cheese steak subs. I highly recommend.

Yelp
To put it bluntly, this is the worst pizza I've ever had in my life. By far. I have an open palette and find the good in most things. But this pizza has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. The cheese? Not even sure you can call it cheese. Bland, rubber tasting texture on a piece of bread? Probably more accurate. The bread? Tough. Stale. Bland. Chewy. The toppings? No flavor. No salt. No garlic. No taste. The pizza was so bad one it literally ruined my friend's beach day. We threw out a whole pie. I cannot stress this enough...if you're craving pizza and this is the only place open? Go to 7-11 instead.

Yelp
My friend had the most horrific experience at Hank's Pizza recently. We're all locals and we love it there. Love their veggie soup and the pizza. Hank's is a Playa staple. That's why this is even more disappointing. While eating their Chinese chicken salad, my friend bit into a metal wire tie. It cut the roof of her mouth, and since sustaining this oral injury, it has resulted in recurring infections and multiple rounds of antibiotics. After this event happened, we walked back to the restaurant, and the acting manager was very nonchalant in handling the issue, almost being dismissive towards us and what we showed him. He literally responded with "oh, that's weird." and then proceeded to just throw the wire tie in the trash. He did not seem shocked or apologetic. He begrudgingly gave us a refund for the salad only at first, then after we pushed the issue, eventually the entire order, which in my opinion should have been the first response, and then said "well you guys are going to eat their rest of the food anyway, right?" and didn't really seem to care. Make sure to sift through your salad or suffer the same fate.

Yelp
The pizza is okay, but the staff is rude. Twice now I have felt that the service was bad, so I won't be going back.

Yelp
Try the triple. Great tasting sandwich. Don't be in a rush though. And service is inconsistent. The sandwich is worth it.

Yelp
I wanted pizza, but didn't have time to wait for one. So I order a large Italian cold cut sandwich. A great sandwich with a generous amount of meat and they also lightly toasted the bread. A very good sandwich. I also got a large pasta salad, which was excellent also. Overall, price for great food was really worth the money for a nice change. Definitely going back when I'm in the area again.

Yelp
Never knew about this location until my hubby's son took us by. I must admit, he has fabulous taste. This location is prompt, efficient and very tasty. The pizza was magnificently hot. I mean I couldn't hold the box on my lap without putting something under it. When your pizza is prepared, you better believe it's fresh. A cob salad was ordered along with the pizza. It was amazing as well. Generous amount and colorful. Fresh avocado, crispy bacon and the cheese was amazing. It's spots like these that make me ask myself, "why bother with the popular spot that hold commercials when places like this is beyond compare?" Perfect spot for pizza. Parking can be a bit tough due to limited spots but your allow to park in the online pickup areas.

Yelp
Not bad pizza and not bad wings. Got a large cheese pie and a meat lovers. I found the cheese on the pizza's a little bland, but the sauce has surprisingly robust flavor. The toppings on the meat lovers pie were very generous and flavorful. The wings were plump and fresh, but not very crispy. For the price of the food here, you can't beat this place. My fridge is full of pizza and I'm happy to say it's delicious heated up the next day.

Yelp
A true gem in PDR! I order from hanks often and I'm never disappointed. Honestly never had a bad thing. The sandwiches are nice and hearty and so affordable. Hanks sauce is the best!! Always ask for extra on sandwiches. Love the complementary pasta salad! The spaghetti with meat sauces and eggplant so flavorful!

Yelp
A really nice little place off Pershing Dr. in PDR. Stopped by from LAX ride. Their Pizza is delicious As you can see in Pic, there's 2 slices on plate. That's actually 1 slice ! Also appreciated that it wasn't on paper plate, nice touch.

Yelp
The food is ok??, I guess..it was better back in the day..the service was trash, the ambiance was well...it's playa del Rey a beach city!!! HOWEVER THE YOUNG LADY THAT WAS WORKING LAST NIGHT WAS ABSOLUTELY RUDE. It seemed liked she was extremely unhappy. The cooks could hear how HORRIBLE SHE WAS TALKING, she couldn't even give her name. I would NEVER spend my money there again JUST BECAUSE SHE IS THERE. Very ignorant of being professional AND non welcoming, to be honest-why is she there HANK? She does NOT REPRESENT PLAYA AT ALL, nor is she a good example to kids-she was rude to my child also-ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, and THE cooks or whoever is in the back didn't even speak up, But they came outside afterward, didn't speak as if I didn't know what they were doing.. they came outside to see who I was but couldn't keep their female employee in check with her trash attitude. Would you feel safe eating your food after an experience like that??? C'mon Hank do better. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

M M.

Yelp
Great pizza yes, but more than pizza. Spaghetti and meatballs or Italian sausage is just like Nona's. Comes with generous portion of garlic bread. House salad with Italian dressing is enough for two easily.

Yelp
Service: (Customer) This review is very disheartening to write. I'm a long time resident of PDR and have called on Hanks several times over the years. I've had 2 dealings with the young lady who answers the telephone. Her name is Carly. Both times she has been very rude and disrespectful. The latest dealing was I had to call to let them know that the sandwich I ordered was not up to par. The bread was so hard I could not bite into it. The dressing tasted spoiled. Needless to say I was disappointed. I probably wasn't the most kindest person HOWEVER I wasn't rude. I simply asked what was going on over there! She told me not to come at her like, she didn't make the sandwich and there was nothing she "would do".i asked when her boss would be in and her response was he'll be in on Tuesday but he won't do anything. I happened to talk to a neighbor about my experience with her and was told that she and her sister will not go back to Hanks because of the way they were spoken to AND they too have talked to people who have had a bad experience with this girl. I get that she gets both good and bad calls but in no way shape or form would I ever allow one of my reps to speak to a customer like that. She is the 1st voice to the organization and if that's the best I'd hate to see the worst. I reached out to someone I know and was told the same thing. Speaking to the boss/owner won't make a difference and nothing will happen. WOW really? I'm sure Carly will appreciate not ever having to deal with me again. Like my neighbor and others that have had dealings with this young lady... I will never call their restaurant again. There are other pizza/sandwich shops that can deliver to our address.

Yelp
Hands down my #1 choice for pizza in my hood. I always get light on the sauce for my pizza and it is perfect every time. I like that the owner is involved and you actually see him working. The service here is great. We always order for takeout, the place is pretty small. We love Hank's pizza. An easy 5 stars!

Yelp
Best subs in the area. Mikey on Sunday was nice. Feels good being able to communicate with a good worker while waiting for your food. Thank you.

Yelp
Gotta be honest; the absolute worst pizza I've ever eaten. I have only left a handful of reviews in my entire 36 years of life. Sadly, they are only when the food is inches away from being inedible. This is one of those circumstances. 1- Crust: wayyy too doughy and undercooked 2- Cheese: worse than vegan cheese for both the regular & buffalo mozzarella. 3- Toppings: both pizzas had no salt, no pepper, no garlic, no flavor at all. If I had to pick, I'd eat a Tostitos $9 frozen pizza any day of the week over this poisonous sludge. To be fair; garlic bread was sufficient. The buffalo wings were 6.5/10
google avatar

Marissa M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I got hanks takeout after discovering their movie night deal which was $30 for two half subs, onion rings, fries and buffalo wings. We throughly enjoyed our meal! Our favorites were the buffalo wings which had create texture and a lot of meat. They had a generous amount of buffalo sauce which tasted great and we loved the side of veggies and ranch. We also got the ham/Turkey subs which had all the fix ins and great flavor. The bread may have been a little too toasted as it was quite crunchy but I assume that's the way they like it! The fries were pretty good and had more than salt seasoning. The onion rings were yummy but a lot of dough for very little onion. Overall quick service and good food! We want to come back and try their pizza and pastas!

Gina M.

Yelp
Obsessed with the hanks salad, fried zucchini and garlic bread! They have the best dressing ever

Yelp
I want to be kind... and I really like the vibe of this little hole in the wall in Playa Del Rey. But I lived in Italy for 3 years and my question is: why can't anyone make a pizza like in Italy??? The crust isn't bad, a little too thick but crispy edges. The tomato sauce.... is too sweet! Maybe they think, like many Americans, that you need to add sugar to the sauce to cut the acidity. Not if you use San Marzano tomatoes! I ordered one cheese and one margherita (spelled the American way, Margarita). There wasnt much difference between the two except for a little basil on the margherita. The cheese was just globbed on. That's not how you do it, guys. So for me, this isn't pizza - it's an American bread product with cheese. But for those who have never had real pizza, it probably tastes great. Gets good reviews.

Chris S.

Yelp
Visited this small pizza spot on the corner. Has patio with seating, very cute. My coworkers and I enjoyed our food. The prices are great for the quality of the food. I'll be visiting again. Thank you!

Yelp
Pretty standard, cozy, local neighborhood pizza spot. We ordered delivery from Hank's while staying in for the evening, and just watching movies so wanted something that suited the mood. Hank's was located super close by to where we were staying so we figured it would be a great try. Delivery itself was very easy. We ordered online directly from their website, which was a smooth, easy and quick process. It took about maybe 20 or so minutes for our food to arrive, which was pretty good considering the time it takes to make a pizza and commuted to us. - deluxe pizza pepperoni, sausage, onion, bell pepper, black olive, mushroom, extra cheese - white pizza Alfredo sauce, garlic, onion, chicken Both pizzas came well loaded with toppings. The deluxe was a classic and was tasty and the white pizza was a unique twist that I enjoyed. perhaps the only thing that really threw me off was that the pizzas were quite oily - a bit more oily than I would have liked - but for some reason I still found myself eating multiple slices. Despite the oiliness, the flavor was still on point, and I did enjoy it

Yelp
We shared the large Philly Cheesesteak sandwich ($14.20) and there was plenty for both of us and it was ok - not great but ok. We also shared an order of fries with melted American cheese ($5.95). The fries were fried nice and crispy with the right amount of saltiness and were pretty good with the cheese. I also really like to eat fries like this with Ranch dressing and I feel like when you spend $6 for an order of fries that they should include a side of ranch if you ask for it, but they charged us $1 for a side of ranch which is pretty annoying after buying the fries. We also got a small soft drink ($1.99) which comes with free refills and a can of Hawaiian Punch ($1.45). Overall it's nice to eat here out on the sidewalk under an umbrella with the ocean air but Our meal cost $23.09 for the sandwich, fries, 2 drinks and a ranch dressing. If I'm paying this much for the food I just listed, I expect it to be awesome - and this was just ok, not awesome. I would like to come back and try their pizza - the guys next to us had a couple of slices of pepperoni & sausage & it looked really good. We shall see...

Yelp
Awesome pizza and sandwich shop in the hood. My fav!! Italian salad is the best. Don't forget about the little seating area in the back.
google avatar

Yelp
I've had this place twice, first time i ordered a burger with fries, second time I decided to try their Chinese chicken salad. The size of the salad was AMAZING. The grilled chicken super delicious and huge fan of the dressing. I will be picking this again. Oh and their fries are totally worth it!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I love, Love, Love Hank's. They have the best food. The staff is great. Chicken Parm, excellent. Ravioli, to die for. Pesto Pizza, Oh yeah! Try it all! I recommend, recommend, recommend. They are worth saying it 3 times! A playa staple!
google avatar

Yelp
Just a really great tasting pie. Not really a sit down place but if you want pizza at home this place is great.

Yelp
Hank's was really cute! It definitely made me feel like I was back up north. Small and quant with a family vibe. The young lady at the counter was super monotone.... Which made me feel right at home lol. I got the BLT sub which was really good.... I love me a good bacon sandwich !! The boys got mozzarella sticks, they were good and hot.... Thick and cheesy! We also got some chili cheese fries , in my opinion they weren't that good. The chili wasn't super seasoned and the fries were kind of undercooked. However, the food was good for the price. My kids liked it so I loved it! If you're in playa del Rey definitely slide by and grab yourself a slice of pizza.... I heard that's the best thing to order here but I'm a rebel so I didn't lol

Samuel Z.

Yelp
I was excited to learn there was a pizza place near by around the corner. I was in for a rude awakening for my experience. I ordered a pizza on the way home. Picked it up. Not the best service in the restaurant but didn't think much of it. Left. Went home to realize they messed up the order. Called to let them know. Brought the pizza back to learn the new pizza was the wrong size. They then offered some cheese cake for the difference but I needed the larger pie. They made the 3rd pie with some sas... 2 hrs later got a pizza the way I ordered it with nothing regarding the inconvenience the error me waiting 2 additional hrs, time driving back and forth... nothing in that regard. Yea I won't be back

Alex U.

Yelp
A true asset to the community. Great pizza at a great price. My family gets hanks once or twice a week and it's always a highlight. Thanks Hank!
google avatar

Kwok S.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed the pizza I ordered. There's no frills about it. A simple thin crust with delicious ingredients. I ordered the meat lover and kept eating slice after slice of this delicious pie. The cheese were perfectly chewy. Toppings not overly salty. Crust a a chew, but also retained its crispness without hit being a doughy kind of crust like NY slice and most importantly the sauce had a sweetness to it that balance and all the flavors. I say this was a winner for me. I deducted one star because you'll only be able to order through their website. I tried calling in twice and the phone system had a busy signal. It'll kind suck for the not so savvy customers.
google avatar

Carlos A.

Yelp
I got a pizza slice and was absolutely devastated, I thought it was a joke. I would describe the pizza slice as a frozen pizza you would get at a supermarket, and they put on their own cheese and an unholy amount of oil.
google avatar

Joe Z.

Yelp
I always make it a point to stop by Hank's Pizza whenever I'm in town. This little neighborhood Parlor always has a good vibe and welcoming atmosphere . The pizzas have a great crust, flavorful sauce and tasty toppings . The sandwiches are pretty good , a little skimpy with the meat, but the toasted bread and gooey cheese makes up for it, at least for me. Service is always friendly and the owner truly appreciates the customers. This place is just west of LAX in Play del Rey.

Carolyne C.

Yelp
Rude staff and unkempt restaurant, the food isn't even good, they leave out items you pay for and don't care about customer service or satisfaction.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm gonna give this joint a solid 3. We got a large Philly cheesesteak for $13. It was good not great. It was packed tho with meat, peppers, onions and cheese. Flavor was okay but didn't pop like I'd like. It came with a side of either macaroni salad or coleslaw. We opted for the slaw because it had pineapple in it but it ended up having a bizarre taste, like I think it has pineapple AND Italian salad dressing, an odd combo indeed. Each time I eat here I want to love it cuz I love mom and pop's but I have to be honest that I just have never had a stellar meal here. We also got French fries with cheese that were very good. Fries were probably the best thing we had. They were seasoned and were hot and crispy as well as topped with lots of cheese. They also charged $1 for ranch.

Pejman K.

Yelp
I enjoy all the coming here joe is a guy.chef who also make is a nice guy ad well Also they is the best in PDR & LAX area

Yelp
While out biking today, I cycled past this delightful, and quaint pizza parlor at the beach in Playa Del Rey. Have driven in my car past this place at least a few dozen times, and never paid it any attention, but somehow while cycling, you tend to get a more up close and personal type of experience with your surroundings, which was the case here. Well after my ride along the coastline, I knew I would be having pizza for lunch, and I knew it was going to be this place. Owen was the proprietor I interacted with, and his pizzas are amazing. Just had a good vibe here, and since Owen was all too accommodating, along with carrying a decent conversation with me, I'm going to have to say, he has earned my business, and I will be a regular customer from here on out. Thanks for lunch and friendly service Owen.

Yelp
This is my favorite pizza spot in the PDR area. Hanks is a staple to the area! I enjoy ordering and picking up when having movie night or watching a game with friends and family. I like that they have a little bit of everything on their menu. Pizza, wings, fries! Service is quick and efficient. It's small inside - great for picking up.

Andrea G.

Yelp
The food really depends on who is on shift in the kitchen. I love love love the pizza on most days, but one out of 4 orders comes out completely different than the others (recently a Friday). Typically excellent and well balanced, sometimes overloaded and misunderstood with no appreciation of the final visual of the product. One of the best parts about pizza is seeing it when you open the box. Fries are awesome on the good days! Staff is always friendly!
google avatar

Noah W.

Yelp
Very classic, solid pizza spot. It's hard to find no frills pizza in LA especially at a decent cost. This pizza tastes exactly what you'd expect out of a small shop in the best way. Called my order in and it was ready in 15 minutes. Nice doughy pie with quality ingredients and yummy sauce. Not the best pizza in LA but definitely worth stopping in for a weeknight pizza fix.

Yelp
Hidden Gem in/around the Del Rey area. Locals have known of its existence, I work around the area so when I came across this hole in the wall I was the least disappointed. Service is always A1- super chill!! I always go for 3 of my top faves which I highly recommend if youre in the foodie mood: Pepperoni Pizza - , Hot Pastrami with cheese No grilled onion and Richies Pastrami Double Cheeseburger
google avatar

Reuven F.

Yelp
Best pizza in playa del Rey. Quality food and always friendly. It blows nearby the good pizza out of the water. Trust a local :)
google avatar

Brittany H.

Yelp
Hank's has been so consistent with the quality and taste of their pizza. I love their pizza sauce it's so rich and flavorful, they don't skimp on their cheese, their crust is so crispy, and they make it the way I ask every time!!! I've had their antipasta as well and their salad dressing was so tasty I could have drank it and they put lots of meat on it. The fettuccine Alfredo unfortunately was a bust, it just tasted milky with little to no evidence of cheese!
google avatar

Raj G.

Yelp
Great food, good prices. Can't ask for much more than that, staple in our city. Pizza ready in 20min.
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
Every time I've gone in it's been a pleasant experience! The staff is always friendly and delivery is quick and easy. The food itself is just okay. I've tried their pizzas, lasagnas, garlic bread, onion rings, fries and mozzarella sticks. Overall I'd give the food a 5/10. It's not very flavorful or fresh but as a late night bite it does the trick. Their salads and sandwiches are probably the best things I've eaten here. There's a few tables inside and a few outside which are convenient. There not a lot of pizza places in this area so it's a nice local spot but I think you can go a little ways away and get better food.
google avatar

Kimberly C.

Yelp
Love the crispy chicken wings. Small place. Eat there or take out. Good food. A variety of options. The pastrami sandwich is the best I've had hands down.

Yelp
Wonderful lil Pizza Gem in Playa del Rey! Great Food w/ Mike taking orders (Phone & Walk-ups). The Cooks are Fast and I have never waited over 10 Mins for Grub! Pizza,Subs,Salads,Burgers along with Daily Specials make this a "Go-To" when in the Area!

Yelp
I want to start off by saying I'm a loyal Hank's customer. I live up the street and have been coming here for years. Anyone else who lives in playa knows how few cheap food options there are around here after dark, so for that, Hank's, I appreciate you being pretty much my only option after dark. That said, Hank needs to step up their game a bit. Now 4 bucks for 2 slices is a bargain that's hard to argue with. The pizza is aight, It gets the job done. Every now and then, I'll luck out and get an actually fresh slice of pizza, which is pretty good! But most of the time it's just a soggy old slice with new cheese and pepperoni slapped on top and thrown under a heat lamp for a few minutes. This is obvious. You aren't fooling anyone, Hank. I want Hanks to be better. I really like the place. So here's my suggestion to hank. If you're gonna serve me old reheated slices, maybe offer slight discount? If I was only paying 2 or 3 bucks for some shitty old slices I'd be all over it, but to charge the same amount as you do for the fresh slices feels pretty unfair. This wasn't meant to be a bad review, just some honest feedback from a customer who cares

Yelp
Just the neighborhood joint with great pizza and the Israeli dude who owns it is vibe. Just go and enjoy!

Yelp
The food is delicious! I just moved to the neighborhood so I wanted to eat something local--I ate here for three days straight lol. The woman helping me was very nice and welcoming. Place is small but they have a small outdoor dining area.
