The 38 Best Restaurants in Seoul, South Korea

"Open for: Early dinner to late night Price range: $ At Hannamdong Hanbang Tongdak, 30-day-old chickens are marinated in a broth of Korean medicinal herbs (licorice, cinnamon, etc.) and slowly roasted over a wood fire rotisserie-style. The result is crispy, sweet skin encasing meat that is juicy and seasoned to the core. The chickens are a little small (so order one per person), but they’re quite substantial, stuffed with glutinous rice, garlic, jujube, and ginkgo. Try topping yours off with a piece of kimchi to cut through the hefty flavors and pair it with a draft beer. Know before you go: Go around 5 p.m., when the restaurant opens on weekdays, to avoid the multi-hour wait that builds up later in the evening." - Matty Kim

They ask you only one question when you come in. How many chickens. There is no menu, there are no sides. Just gorgeous crispy succulent chicken stuffed with rice. It’s perfect. Yes you need to wait two hours. And once you see those chickens rotating and dripping on each other you can’t think of anything else. Put your name down and go for a couple of drinks nearby. Its worth it.

I picked up a roasted chicken today to enjoy at home, and it turned out to be one of the best I’ve ever had. The skin was perfectly crisped, the meat juicy and full of flavor — truly a standout among all the roast chickens I’ve tried. What made it even better were the accompanying sauces and the 유자소금 (yuzu salt), which added a refreshing citrusy kick that paired beautifully with the savory chicken. It was such a satisfying meal, simple yet exceptional in taste. Definitely a repeat-worthy takeout!

First, you are seduced by the rotisserie outside the shop and the aromas wafting into the street. How can you refuse to try?? 21k Won for a roast chicken paired with kimchi and radish. The chicken is stuffed with glutinous rice. Roasted so it’s still juicy, with the chicken flavours shaping into the rice. Ours was a tiny bit dry, but didn’t ruin the experience. 100% worth it.

Had to take a circuitous route to get to this shop. Overall worth the trip. You could smell the roasting chickens before you see the restaurant. Turnover is quick so you won't wait long for a table. Once you are seated, they just ask how many chickens you want to order. You can ask for a draft beer or bottled ones. Today I opted for Chilsung. Once the chicken arrived, it was steaming hot. They helpfully cut the body of the chicken so you can easily pick up the meat and crunchy skin. Take a bit of the kimchi and radish if you want a break. Overall a good meal to end the day.

Best rotisserie chicken in town. 100%! The marriage of the smoky tender chicken with the spicy, fresh, garlicky kimchi was pure magic.

So good! The food was so good for the price it is! service was quick! No menus given, they sat us down and asked how many chickens, we shared 1 between two but I could have forced myself to eat another they were that good! Everyone was friendly!

The store specialise in their whole chicken. Most people seemed to share the food. A group of 4 women shared 2 chicken. A family of 3 (one young son) shared 1 chicken. Small seating area, max 20 people? We had to wait 30 minutes before our turn (we reached around 5pm on a weekday). Chicken was stuffed with some glutinous rice. Simply roasted, can pair with spice or salt to enhance the taste. It is within walking distance to a train station. Great place!

I first heard about this restaurant on a TV show featuring top foods to try and we finally got to experience it ourselves on a family trip to Korea. It was one of the last places we ate before heading back, and it completely lived up to the hype—unlike so many places you see on TV. The owner and staff were incredibly welcoming, and the restaurant had a warm, lively atmosphere with everyone, from families like ours to friends and coworkers, all enjoying the food. The rotisserie chicken was amazing: perfectly cooked, with a crispy exterior and a juicy, tender inside. The unique stuffing added a delicious kick that elevated the dish. It paired perfectly with the draft beer. The place is cozy, so you might need to wait for a table, but it’s truly worth it. One of the staff even joked that I should leave something so I can again enjoy chicken for my next visit the following day. I wished I could have, but we had to return home. If you’re planning a visit, try to fit this restaurant in early during your trip—it’s a meal worth savoring multiple times.
