Best Dishes the Eater Portland Team Ate This Week - Eater Portland

"I had a hankering for Korean food this week, so I tried out the new-to-me Beaverton spot Hansik (not to be confused with similarly named Beaverton spot Hansik Town). Among what we ordered, my favorite dish was the egg-battered “pan fritters,” or modeumjeon. We got the assorted option, which came with beef, zucchini, pollock, and crab stick with vegetables, with a green onion and soy dipping sauce. It was a homey, comfort food dish that I had never tried before. It’s on the appetizer section of the menu, but works just as great as a side dish to keep returning to throughout the meal." - Eater Staff

I reserved via Google assistant without issues. Came on a Friday evening and they weren’t too busy. We ordered the seafood scallion pancake, fried mandu and the prime rib ssam set. This was for 3 of us and I felt like it was plenty of food. The server tried to talk us into ordering one more and we’re glad we didn’t. We ended up taking most of pancake home. No complaints on the taste or texture of any of the dishes. It is pricey, though!

We gave this place three stars overall. Honestly, the experience was pretty underwhelming. When we walked in, there was a heavy smell, which my girlfriend didn’t really like. The interior was decent and the bathrooms were clean, so that’s a plus. We tried the spicy octopus and short ribs. The octopus was pretty plain and honestly a bit below average, while the short ribs were decent but a tad salty. What really saved the night were the servers—they were super nice and attentive, even noticing when I finished a side dish and bringing a new one without me asking. In the end, we’re not planning on returning, but those lovely servers bumped our rating up to three stars. Otherwise, it might have been lower.

Recommended to me by a local and did not disappoint. Dined on a Sunday afternoon right when they opened so plenty of tables available and quick service. Classical music was playing in the background so it was a peaceful meal. Six different banchans with free refills. The potato one was very flavorful and my favorite. Got the Beef Roast (Bibimbap) on the stone griddle and added a fried egg. Overall cost me $30 without tip. In my case, enough leftovers for another meal. Overall, enjoyed the atmosphere, service, and food.

Really good quality at decent price to portion ratio. The steamed beef and mushrooms were satisfying and easy on the stomach. I'd like to go back to try their braised clay pot.

New and spacious Korean restaurant with a clean and modern vibe. The assorted pancakes was a feast for the eyes, a nice variety of meats and veggies cooked in a soft, egg batter. The grilled meats were supposed to come with 5 different greens, yet our vegetable bouquet only had red and green leaf lettuces with a few sticks of carrots. The seafood pancake was thick, almost rivaling the thickness of a pizza. Our server was great, probably the only Korean restaurant I’ve been to where we were asked if we’d like a refill on the banchans. Overall decent meal.

This place is one of the best Korean restaurants in the PDX/ Beaverton Area. The food was very savory, clean, and neat. Not only was the food great, but the portion was good as well. Good service, and the atmosphere is also great: no loud music, a beautiful chandelier, warm light, and a comfortable chair. I had a great experience, and my husband loves this restaurant!

I am Korean and this place is the best Korean restaurant I have visited in Portland/Beaverton area so far. We had Ssam with meat, Hot stone bibimbap and other stuff. We ordered a lot and are the most of it. Everything was good and kids enjoyed a lot as well. I usually cook Korean food at home but would definitely go back with family.

Some of the most authentic Korean food in the Pacific Northwest. The steamed brisket might not be for everyone, but if you do well with more refined/ subtle, natural flavors then def try it out — you won’t be able to find this authentic Korean dish in many places in the US, even California.
