Yelp
I fucking love this place...................................................................................................................I need 85 characters to post this review........

Rutit P.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this quaint Korean market many many moons ago, and it's become my go-to spot for all things Korean in this area. It's a true mom and pop shop, giving it that authentic feel that's hard to find in bigger stores. The variety of side dishes is limited compared to H-Mart but has most of your basic Asian ingredients, making it a haven for those looking to whip up some homemade Korean goodness. However, keep in mind that the produce and meat sections are a bit limited. It may not be ideal for spontaneous grocery runs, but planning your visits around their stocked days--especially on weekends--will ensure you find everything you need. Sundays are the busiest, likely due to the post-church crowd. The staff is always friendly, ready to help you navigate through the aisles filled with treasures. Overall, this hidden gem is a must-visit for anyone craving a taste of Korea in the midst of the city.

Phuong P.

Yelp
They have almost everything you can ask for Korean essentials. Their pre made food is also tasty (plus, they can make party tray if you need to order big portion). The staff are very nice, although some of them don't speak English very well. It's a bit small but clean and organized. Make sure to ask them for their reward card, will save you money every time you shop there.

Monsé B.

Yelp
Hang yang is the best! They are a one stop shop for Korean groceries and snacks. The quality of their items is good and well priced. The staff is nice and helpful! This market is a gem.

Rici T.

Yelp
This is a small, mom & pop place. A little produce section, tiny meat section and some dried goods. But when you first walk in, they have awesome little grab n go snacks, AND a huge kimchi/banchan section. I bought a personal buffet and some face creams for about $65. I really like this place :)

Trevor W.

Yelp
Super cute shop with friendly workers and a great selection! Would definitely recommend this place!

Watah H.

Yelp
Good market for all your korean food needs. Check out their sales items as it's better price than the bigger places. Their togo food need improving..my only pet peeve.

Justin S.

Yelp
Good variety, fresh veggies, friendly staff. Not too busy, surrounded by restaurants and other businesses.

Karen L.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite store. It has all you need in terms of Korean foods. It is the type of store that is so special in its authenticity that no larger supermarket like Hmart can match it. Even if Hmart was closer to austin, I would still go to Hanyang market!

Jordan N.

Yelp
I feel like this is the only authentic Korean market - or specifically Korean, at least. I was surprised I was able to find my pick for Korean cold soup here - the dotori mool, which is composed of acorn noodles.

Harrison K.

Yelp
Great little Korean market with all the essentials. We get our gochujang, kimchi, sweet potato noodles, red pepper powder and more here!

Dan P.

Yelp
Nice little neighborhood Korean grocery store. Veggies are pretty fresh, prices are decent. Nothing like huge H-Mart but a good little store.

Savee L.

Yelp
they had the Juk and Noodles i was looking for. i got their house made Kim Chi that went well with steak i made at home. conveniently offered what i came to get

Yelp
Han Yang is absolutely my favorite Asian grocery store. People are super friendly and I love all their premade foods! The kimbap and japchae are my go-to's, but I've also enjoyed the tteokboki on occasion too. It's perfect for a quick meal or packing for a picnic. Han Yang's prices are also comparable to, or better than, H Mart or Ranch 99. If it's on sale at Han Yang, then it's usually a pretty good deal. They carry a wide selection of rice (the big 10+lb bags), miso paste, seaweed, etc. I also feel like they carry higher quality products, or at least they don't have trash products.. (e.g. the dumplings are actually meat & veggie dumplings rather than wrappers filled with noodles and soy filler with MSG). Full disclosure: I'm eating japchae from Han Yang as I write this and it's so good!! I might be biased...

Jeong L.

Yelp
I know. H Mart is so much larger and cooler looking than Han Yang, but I really love shopping at this small grocery. 1) Surprisingly, they have everything I need 99% of the time. For Korean grocery newbies, there are several major Korean food companies that produce Korean food ingredients and condiments. Below are my favorite food companies and items produced by them: -Ottogi for condiments (ketchup, mayo, curry, jjajang), sauces (bulgogi, dakgalbi), oil (toasted sesame, perilla), ramen - Pulmuone for tofu, frozen food (e.g. mandu), packaged food (e.g. naengmyeon, tteokbokki, jjajangmyeon), ramen, drinks (Sikhye Korean rice punch), Doenjang (Korean soybean paste) - Sempio for soy sauce, oil, condiments, seaweed gim, Korean style perilla leave pickles (Kketnip jorim) - Chungjungone for Doenjang, Gochujang, condiments, sauces (bulgogi, dakgalbi) There are a ton of other companies, but I like buying specific items from these 4 companies. I rarely buy Nongshim stuff (I know that people love Shin ramyun, but not my cup of tea). Surprisingly, Han Yang has it all sorted out. Even though it is probably 1/10 the size of H Mart, Han Yang market has all my favorite food items. H Mart has so many more selections, but Han Yang somehow has my favorite items and I am always satisfied with whatever I buy there. What's more exciting is that most items are almost always cheaper than H Mart, AND you can get reward points for your purchases. 2) Also, Han Yang has two corners in the back and front for housing stuff, and trust me, they get high-quality stuff. - For example, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND those Made in Korea nail clippers near the cash register. These are SO GOOD and will cut your nails like tofu. (They sell for $8~15 on Amazon, but we paid less than $3 at Han Yang). - If you see the weird-looking gardening tool called Homi, get it for 4.99! It will make your gardening life 2000% better - Made in Korea green Rice spatula hidden in the back corner. These are the best. I can't recommend it enough. Rice will not stick!!! 3) Lastly, the two owners are so nice. We really like them and want to support them. They really care to bring the best items to the store (they even sold KF94 masks back in March... ) and I want Han Yang to do well. If you have questions, then just ask them. They will give you awesome recommendations. For example, I wanted to buy some Korean Yuja cha, and I asked one of the owners to make a recommendation, and I later found out that he recommended me an award-winning Yuja cha from a small company and not a mass produced one.

Amanda W.

Yelp
Absolutely love this store! The product selection is amazing and the staff are super helpful. The fresh made food is also very delicious. Pricing seems very competitive as well.

Byung B.

Yelp
I really enjoy shopping at Han Yang Market. They have everything a Korean grocery store needs. The prepared foods by the cash resister are reasonably priced and very delicious! Also, they have lots of prepared foods (Ban -Chan) ready to go in containers. Please check this place out!

Michelle W.

Yelp
Be sure to download the app to check out the ads. We came in to get honey ginger tea when it was on sale for a great price! I also came to get fresh produce and items needed to make bean sprouts soup. They also have a bonus card you can sign up for where you get a 3% reward on purchases over $20. You can redeem the reward once you get $5. Good deal if you shop here often. This grocery store is small and it's easy to find items here. They carry fresh food items too. I typically keep a good stock of items so I only come here for a few items I may need. You can find kimbap, japchae, rice cakes and other snacks near the cash register. I like to get the kimbap. Yum! I have had their rice cakes before and they are good. You can find marinated meats and a large selection of kimchi as well inside.

David H.

Yelp
Friendly little Korean market, which also sells some prepared food, at great prices. I keep coming back for the kimbap.

Leigh P.

Yelp
I LOVE Han Yang. Been going for almost 5 years now and it's way more convenient than driving up to H-Mart. They have all the essentials needed for making Korean food, along with kitchen tools like mandolines and at-home K-BBQ setups (butane stove + hot plate). I buy their Mak Kimchi regularly and I prefer a lot of their banchan over H-Mart's, which taste sweeter. They sell cooked food across from the register which has a variety of AMAZING, homemade rice cakes and food. I recommend the jokbal (pig trotters) which can look intimidating but you won't regret it. I love buying their kimbap, japchae, tteokbokki, and soondae to share with friends. They also have plenty of chips and drinks you won't find at non-Korean grocery stores. 99 Ranch and H-Mart can get overwhelming to me because of how big and crowded they can get. The 3 Korean employees I see regularly are typical to other Korean-owned businesses I've been to - not chatty but will help if asked. Also: They sell makgeolli, plum wine, and Korean beer. Pure Korean soju is not sold here nor at H-Mart as it's hard liquor. But they both sell a soju that was modified for the US market that's also sold in a green bottle that people mistake for soju ""/"soo rok". However the liquor store a few steps away conveniently sells it.

Pauline K.

Yelp
If you are curious for Korean/Asianfood and don't want to drive all the way to H mart, consider this market! It has all essential stuff and their Kimchi selection is great. Very friendly staffs. And if you buy more than $20, they give you the point that you can use it later. All Korean ready to eat snacks are great. Like ddeoknoki is awesome. Try Kimbob(Korean authentic maki roll, yummy). :)

Chris T.

Yelp
This is my go to Korean grocery store in the area with decent prices for Korean grocery items. I buy my soysauce, sesame oil, and rice vinegar here in bulk containers. Their prices are better than HMart for sauces, dried goods, premade food, and banchan items. The banchan made here are delicious and fresh. Great garlic stems! The fresh veggies are fairly fresh. Just check items since most things are prepackaged. The staff are nice. If you speak Korean, staff is even nicer, but if you don't they are helpful and speak English.

Tina K.

Yelp
Just moved to Texas and stopped at the hmart for my Korean food fix, and was a little disappointed. Then found this market on yelp and decided to check it out today. I'm glad I did... small store, but had what I needed and the brands/sizes of the products that I wanted. They had soju, ricecakes, lots banchan & kimchi (the buchu (chive) kimchi was really good), products were not expired, and the service was very nice. Super nice folks working there. I'll definitely be going back! Yay

Sarah C.

Yelp
Auntie at Austin again :) This is a small market that's packed with daily necessary inventory. More already-made banchan dishes and meals than Hana World Market. Kinda not fair to compare really since Hana World caters to other backgrounds too. Han Yang has way more Korean eats so this'll be our go-to market from now on. They're also not afraid to add some tasty heat in their side dishes if need be. The key phrase is "tasty heat"....not straight up hot. Nobody benefits from that. I took some foodporn of my fave aisles and sections within this market. I heart you!! The pics will far better describe this market than words. Trust. And if you're looking for some pastries, after buying your necessities here go to Tous Les Jours Bakery a few doors down. You're welcome.

Takao N.

Yelp
If you are looking for Asian food and don't want to spend a lot of money, this is the best place in town. The only time I go to other Asian stores is when Han Yang Market doesn't carry the item I need. Other than that, you get the best deal here.

Mina P.

Yelp
Cute little Korean super market. They have all the essentials and was super happy and surprised to find that they have ! Been looking for these babies everywhere and I'm so glad they have them in stock here.

Jason C.

Yelp
We all know that there is hmart, which has a wider selection than the rest of the korean grocery stores in the area but I have a soft spot for smaller businesses and I try my best to support Han Yang Market. Surprisingly they have everything I need despite the selection being smaller than Hmart. I come here to get my pul-moo-won (korean health brand) noodles, spicy rice cake, jja jang myun, etc. The prices are lower for 95% of the products than Hmart (minus the Hmart promotional items) which makes me scratch my head understanding how the owner can undercut Hmart. But nevertheless it's a win win situation because I get to support local businesses and at the same time get better pricing. On an important note, if you haven't already, ask for their rewards card. I believe you get 2% of your purchases back and can redeem it when you accumulate 5$. It's a small yet great incentive to shop here!

Rinkul ..

Yelp
Fresh kimchi! Get the Han yang brand they obviously make it in house. It's still bubbling (fermenting) while I write this post. Been coming here for years even when I moved south. I drive a long way to taste the flavor. It's a supermarket I know and love.

Joohyun W.

Yelp
Check expiration date! Several of their soymilk products and other beverages are being sold past expiration date. Learned it hard way after buying multiple packs of soymilk and beverages. I've been avoiding going here after realizing how several of the products I bought from Han Yang Market was past expiration date. However, I had several experiences of finding mold on Hana World Market's (another Korean market around Austin, located in pflugerville) premade food (and they are not much better on expiration date as well). Between Han Yang Market and Hana World Market, I'd recommend Han Yang Market. Still, I plan on making extra drive to go to Hmart (where I have yet to have any bad experiences though Hmart's premade food are usually much more expensive than Han Yang Market or Hana World Market). Two stars because the guys at the cashier is always nice. Also, some of the premade food here is really good and really good price.

Connie F.

Yelp
Small store, but I've always been able to find everything I need! I love making Maangchi's recipes, and I've been able to find everything I need here, including the more "exotic" ingredients. I love buying frozen meat here for making KBBQ at home. Sometimes the prices are better than the ones at 99 Ranch. You can make a point card where you get 3% for every purchase over $20, and you can redeem it for cash once the balance is over $5. They have this amazing cereal soymilk in the boxed drinks section next to the frozen meat section. I think it's seasonal though because I haven't seen it in awhile. Their fresh foods are delicious too! I've tried the kimbap, jokbal, and jeon and all of them have been really good. They also have rice cake, ddukbokki, japchae, etc. They always have a lot of items on sale. Plenty of parking.

Frangible S.

Yelp
Super safe with COVID precautions and they have excellent snacks. I'm glad I went in!

Dawn H.

Yelp
Just happened across this place one day while driving around. Decent Korean market. Is actually MUCH larger than it looks from storefront. Goes waaaay back. Not the largest Asian market in Austin, but will certainly suffice. And, Han Yang doesn't have that overwhelming - sometimes unwelcoming - odd smell that some Asian markets have. Tons of dried/pantry goods. All of the standard Korean staples available (including Kimchi Base at a substantially lower price than at Hana). Adequate meat market with competitive prices. A large refrigerated section with all yummy things fermented! Very limited fresh produce and fish selection kind of meh, but you can make do.Being forced to be extra creative in the kitchen bu substituting items can sometimes lead to great things - just remember to write down the new "recipe" if you'd like to repeat and are a dope like me that can't remember to save my life because I don't really use "recipes." ;-) 1 extra star for the super duper friendly staff! Very helpful and didn't make fun of my attempts to say the two things I "think" I know how to say in Korean - "Hello, how are you?" and "Thank you!" So, kamsahamnida Han Yang and I will return. Recommend.

Eri H.

Yelp
It's a small Korean grocery store that carries most of the things that you'll need for your Asian cooking. The prices are a little higher than Hana world market BUT definitely cleaner and their vegetables are actually fresh!! It's busy during the weekend and it can get easily crowded inside as the aisles are narrow. But if you are in the area definitely worth to stop by and also visit tous les jours next door ;-)

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
I really wanted to leave these guys a good review but after buying bad veggies and other ingredients SEVERAL TIMES along with bad mochi icecream and other refrigerated items, I am at my last straw and have returned to update my review on this place to a one star review. They reluctantly offered to give me credit but this is just 5 too many times. Yes, this has happened a HANDFUL of times. I am so tired of it. I really hate to give a little market such a bad review but after driving out here from Cedar Park and getting home to find that my groceries are NOT EDIBLE, I have no sympathy left in me.

Animal L.

Yelp
I come here very often for groceries as it is right down the street from me but I just now decided to try some of the prepared food. I got the japchae ($2.99) and vegetable kimbap ($5.99) and both were fantastic. I will definitely be trying more things soon.

Leila L.

Yelp
This market is small but good enough for a lot of Asian cooking needs. There's no fresh seafood but they do have some fresh poultry options. I think the prices are reasonable; but this is closer to me compared to Hana World. Plus this place doesn't ever seem to get too crowded so you can go in and out quickly. They have some prepackaged food to go (like kimbap) sometimes which is nice. They don't have a ton of veggies but enough for some Korean dishes. There's also a few aisles of kitchenware.

Alex L.

Yelp
Fantastic small market with a small selection of goods, and some great sales. After the opening of H-Mart, I finally have a base for prices, and the prices here aren't bad at all by comparison. I found many items to be cheaper, though the selection is limited due to space. This is always my first stop, followed by supplements at Hana World / MT Market. They even have a good website which they keep updated!

Hanh N.

Yelp
I bookmarked this place for so long but only had chance to visit it this weekend. The store looked really small from the outside, but to my surprise, I found my favorite frozen sikhye here. It's not as good as the freshly made sikhye, but way better than the canned one. The veggies look fresher compared to other Asian markets I've been to in Austin. I didn't have time to browse the whole place but the frozen section is huge.

Francis S.

Yelp
They have a variety of cool Korean foods, but they are a bit on the pricey side. I'd you get the ready to eat food at the front make sure to eat it that day or it spoils very quickly. The service there I've experienced isn't the best. They just really want your money and to get out. But on the bright side they do have plenty of sales on lots of things in the store. Plus they have a fantastic selection of Ramen. This is the place to get the world's spiciest ramen. Spoiler: it's not that spicy.

Kat S.

Yelp
Small but well stocked Korean mart, right next to the best place to get soju in Austin. It's a little out of the way for us but worth the trip. Their selection of prepackaged foods is delicious and perfect for a grab-and-go snack or meal. Their produce is always fresh, and they have a big selection of frozen and refrigerated items. I also love the section in the back with dishware, containers, cutlery, etc. The workers are always friendly. I know they have had some competition to deal with since the bigger national chains have moved into Austin (one particularly close) but I much prefer to patronize this top notch, locally owned store, and I highly recommend it to others as well.

Samantha K.

Yelp
I've been to Han Yang quite a few times since I took up an interest in Korean cooking. It's way out of the way for me-- I'm in South Austin, it's central-north Austin-- but it's still worth the journey. The prices are completely reasonable, maybe not the cheapest but I haven't shopped the competition too much. However, I'm a pretty frugal human, and if I can get literally 2 gallons of kimchi (in a glass jug I can use for future fermenting) for $17, it's safe to say I'm won over. Asian specialty food is the one place that Amazon just doesn't win, price-wise. However, despite the great selection and good pricing, the one issue I've noticed is the lack of a comprehensive produce section. First time I went in I was looking for an Asian Pear (exactly one.. I don't know what I'd do with more than that!) and they only sold them by the 10-pack box. Not only did I not have $25 to buy that box, but I didn't need ten. Besides the bulk boxes, it looked like there was a tiny produce section otherwise, and it didn't really have anything out of the ordinary. If they could only bump up their specialty produce game, they'd be a five-star place. But Korean food isn't all kimchi and gochujang, and sometimes I need a little freshness for my dishes.

Felecia I.

Yelp
When I'm in the area, this is the place for me for a cheap, filling Asian lunch. Usually there are a few varieties of take-out foods made fresh in-house and ready for sale by the grocery store check-out counter a little before 11:00 am. For $4, I happily gorge on Kim Bab: 2 sushi rolls (stuffed with spinach, carrot, egg, fish cake, fake crab) accompanied with five slices of pickled Japanese radish. There are almost always leftovers for later snacking... how could there not be with 24 sushi pieces in one order?

John S.

Yelp
Absolute best place to get Korean groceries! My partner and I have been going there for almost a decade, and they never fail to have the best variety of fresh ingredients and non perishables, as well as kitchen necessities at literally the best price I've found. I'm probably the last person you'd expect to see in a Korean grocery market, but they've kept me coming back for years and will continue to do so!

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Han Yang is what I call a "resource" four stars. I honestly have no idea how well it compares to other similar businesses (I am hardly a Korean grocery connoisseur), but I do know that it provides one-stop shopping for everything I could possibly ever need to prepare Korean food at home. It's also reasonably big, well-stocked, and neat and well-organized enough that I can find the items that I want despite the fact that hardly anything is labelled in English (see the "Korean grocer" bit above). Bonus points for being centrally located and on several bus lines on North Lamar. So, you'll find about 43 brands of red pepper here to make your kimchi, another 43 varieties of premade kimchi in case you didn't want to do the work yourself, all manner of cooking supplies, and the cheapest sriracha this side of Walmart. It's overwhelmingly Korean as opposed to pan-Asian, so if you're looking to do Vietnamese for dinner, you're probably in the wrong place. I go for fish sauce, red pepper, sriracha, and other things to go with produce that I grow myself to make kimchi. And it's probably good that I grow it myself: produce prices at Han Yang are on the high side, so, if I needed their carrots, daikon radishes, napa cabbage, etc., I might get them somewhere else. That will cost them one star for this otherwise very convenient outlet for Korean food.

Olivia R.

Yelp
It's a very comprehensive grocery for Korean goods, but I wouldn't necessarily count on them having a lot of other Asian staples or brands. But they might have what you're looking here! They also have some pre-made food that they make in house, which makes a meal really convenient. I bought: - Seasoned Chicken - I'd skip it. WAY too dry. At $10, it's too expensive to spend on over cooked meat. - Jab Chae - at $4, this is very reasonably priced, though a little too oily for my taste.

Sean B.

Yelp
Pros - Good location, next to a few Korean restaurants and a Korean bakery. Parking is safe and available in the strip-mall lot. - Size is relatively compact; easy to get in and out quickly unlike Hana World Market pan-Asian grocery store further north. - High-quality sesame oil, ssamjang, kochujang, and tofu are available; these are very hard to find elsewhere. The high-quality SKUs are significantly better than at the main competing Korean grocery store in Austin (Hana). - Some Korean vegetables like (beefsteakplant?) are available, and usually decently fresh. - Fresh traditional snacks are available during the 2 main Korean holiday periods. Cons - Sometimes need to wait in line for awhile. - The kimchi is inferior to Mom's Taste kimchi a short drive away. (MSG, taste, crispness.) - Prices can be kind of high for certain items, e.g. rice, fish, kimbab (we buy frozen CJ mackerel at Costco instead). - Compared to top Korean grocers in other U.S. cities (e.g. LA), there's a lot less fresh food (things like //filled glutinous rice treats, fresh banchan, etc.). - No organics available in terms of meat. I don't blame them as these are niche items, and available elsewhere (Whole Foods); it's just a personal preference of mine.

Jennyfer N.

Yelp
MMMMmmm kim chi. Excellent selection of pickled vegetables. The bean sprouts are the best. Everything is in Korean. You have no hope of deciphering it unless you ask a random Korean person to help you. Which I did. Great selection of Gochuchang pastes and noodles, etc. Would definitely come here if I'm making Bulgogi night.

Claudia C.

Yelp
Awesome place if you want to get meat for your at home hot pot and kbbq! They offer a nice selection of side dishes too. I highly recommend their kimchi and their cucumbers. Nice place to go to if you don't want to go to a busier place like MT.

Katie P.

Yelp
Han Yang is certainly my least favorite Asian market in town. While a few of the others cater to many different food types, I feel that Han Yang is pretty strictly Korean. It's also extremely small in comparison, with very few baked goods. No spicy gochujang, very limited ramyeon selection, and the employees are either very unfriendly or just don't like the white girl coming in to buy her ddeokbokki fixins. They also don't seem to carry century eggs or salted eggs. WHY DO YOU HATE EGGS, HAN YANG?! However, I do LOVE that they stock freshly made rice cakes and exotic cigarettes. Very unique and useful to my lazy and previously cigarette smoking way of life. They also carry my favorite fish ice cream thingy that I don't know the name of and a pretty yummy seemingly house-made kimchi. All and all, not a bad place to stop for your Korean dinner making needs, but almost every time I have stopped by to arm myself for a planned meal, I've needed to head up to Hana for a few extra ingredients. Great rice cakes, though.

Sarah R.

Yelp
Awesome choice if you're looking for authentic Korean groceries. Friendly staff and the items here are very easy to find. Two thumbs up from me!
