Honestly I feel like I’m being generous giving 3 stars. I absolutely hate picking up deliveries from this establishment. The orders are NEVER ready on time and the employees WILL NOT give you an honest answer about how long the wait is going to be. Yesterday I came in, told this staff member my customers name and asked how long the wait would be so I could inform the customer. 20 minutes goes by, people come in after me and are leaving with their customers orders so I asked her again how long it was going to be since she never communicated with me. She got an attitude and said I could just leave and she was going to give the customers order to another driver . For those of you who don’t know, delivery drivers DO NOT GET PAID A WAGE. We are paid $2 for every trip and the rest of our wage is the customer tip. So at this point I drove several miles to pick up this order and waited 20 minutes- a half an hour of my time had already been spent and this woman was trying to ensure I didn’t get paid and at this point, the customers food was ready and she vehemently refused to give it to me. Told me 3 times to “Get out”. I immediately called the customer and my partner company and informed them of the complete unprofessionalism and disrespect I was experiencing. My partner company called both the customer and the establishment and thankfully one of the other employees was willing to give me the customers order. I have grace for the other employees, I always do even with how infuriating it is that they never have orders ready on time and as someone whose just trying to work and pay bills, I don’t appreciate the way they treat drivers as background noise and second class customers. I think everyone should know the face of the woman who finds it entertaining to play with people’s livelihoods for her own entertainment.

My husband, daughter and I decided last night was the night to try out your restaurant. The food was AMAZING and I do not regret choosing to visit Happiness. You could absolutely tell that all the employees were doing their best, but they were struggling because of the chaos of the over abundance of orders and rude customers. Your team worked so hard and even through the chaos they were still able to keep smiles on their faces. As for the food, it was honestly some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. Even my husband who doesn’t like Chinese food loved it and was glad we chose your restaurant. Thank you to the whole team who did their best last night. Your efforts are absolutely seen and appreciated.

Food is always good. I will say that we usually order Door Dash because it's far and I know our dashers have had issues with wait times being so variable. The last time it was the opposite, a 2 hour wait turned in to 20 minutes, so it is unpredictable for to go orders. The food though is worth the price.

We were not …happy A group of 9 of us went to happiness Friday night . We had 5 pm reservations. I’ve read so many fabulous reviews so we were anxious to try. It was clear they do a lot of take out orders. After 1 hour of waiting we asked how much longer for our food… We were told short of staff & busy. After 2 hours one person in our party left. We asked again and were told the kitchen had to do something with the Wok. Our server was great . It is certainly a situation beyond her control. After 2 1/2 hours the food finally came. Seems like the "to go orders” clearly took PREFERENCE over the “in house “ customers. Portions were  large  but it was the most disgusting food I’ve ever experienced. The grease was old or rancid , it smelled bad. One bite & it was inedible. Our party paid good money for a meal no one could eat. We were disappointed and will never go there again or recommend it to anyone.

Google
Hands down best Chinese place I've ever been too. We've gone several times and I have a larger family. We always get something for free because of how large our order is I'm assuming it's nice. And the food is always so good!

Kendra D.

Google
Only good thing is the food. Understand it's a busy day, but I draw the line at waiting two hours for a pickup order and watching multiple people being sat and leaving before I got my order. Note I did put my order in three hours in advance. Some people had put theirs in a month prior and also had to wait. Felt bad for the poor girl at the front.

Google
I only ever ordered from here on doordash until last Sunday, the portions are suspiciously large. The food tastes great and the service was amazing.

Dakota J.

Google
Great portions, the food is amazing! Service is polite and amazing as well.

Yelp
The portions are huge here and everything is so delicious. My favorite trick is the house lunch special, its a great deal.

Yelp
Every single time we eat here, the service and the food are incredible! No other Chinese restaurant in this area even comes close to this place for quality and authenticity!

Yelp
We enjoy going to this place and ordering to go. The food is always fresh, hot, plentiful. The price per entree is a little steep, but that is because you get four to five servings each. Recently we got the chicken and vegetables. Like before, the meat was tender, the vegetables were crisp, and everything was nicely seasoned. I know if you order in, you also get a complimentary choice of hot and sour or egg drop soup. Personally I think the hot and sour is tasty. If you are ordering to go, add 15 minutes longer than what they say for the pickup time. We always get there and have to wait longer.

Yelp
We went to dinner there last night with some friends and had reservations for 5:15. Soup was brought and eventually some appetizers, but main courses weren't brought until 7:30. They give you enough to feed and army, but it's too bad that the food was pretty flavorless. Quality over quantity would have been appreciated. None of us will be back.

Mary W.

Yelp
We had a reservation and it took2 1/2 hours to get our food. When we got our food, it was cold, soggy and tasteless. How does a Chinese restaurant screw up Chinese food? I don't know!, but they did!

Amy F.

Yelp
The restaurant was dirty. The food was disgusting. The orange Chicken was made with dark meat and had a fishy after taste. They give you a heaping mound of food. Very unappetizing. The waitress was very friendly but got my order wrong. There was also a little boy running around the restaurant unsupervised. Maybe the owners child? This might be the worst food I've ever eaten. It was that bad.

Yelp
Nice little place. Didn't really like where I was seated but that's ok. I wanted make sure I had enough food for the rest of the week so I ordered extras. lol. I had the build your own combo - combo #2 - with pan fried noodles and egg foo young. It came with soup and I also ordered an appetizer combo. The soup was a nice surprise. It was egg flour soup but not what I was expecting. It had tofu and mushrooms. It was really good. The appetizer came next. Fried shrimp, cheese Rangoons, and BBQ pork. Sweet and sour sauce, hot mustard, and chile oil/paste on the side. The shrimp and Rangoons were good. Crispy and flavorful. The pork was a little dry. I figured I could soak it in the sweet and sour later and hopefully it would get a little softer. The noodles came next. I wasn't sure why I got the noodles without the egg foo young, which is what I really wanted to eat. So, the noodles, if you like garlic. . . and I mean GARLIC, noodles then these are for you (sorry forgot to snap a pic) I picked st them as I waited for my egg foo young but wanted to save them for later. As it got closer to closing and I still didn't have my egg foo young I started to think they forgot. . . and they did. . . After asked twice, they finally brought it in a To go container. Ugh! I ate some of it and it was the best! Despite all the like hiccups I would be back just for the soup and egg foo young.

Yelp
Last night I had reservations for 10 when I got there they didn't know that. There was a long line for take out and then they seated me in the back room. It took two and half hours to get out food. I was very patient but when the food did arrive, it wasn't even hot or good. My sesame beef was like candy coated concrete and impossible to chew. I tried my friend's sesame chicken and it was worse. The service could have been better with some honesty and I could tell this poor waitress was so over worked. They must have been short staffed. Everyone complained that their dishes were cooked in old oil and it affected the taste. The portions are ridiculously large but the leftovers were not worth reheating and all of us threw ours away when we got home. This group goes out every Friday night together and in almost three years this is the worst restaurant we have encountered. I can't believe they couldn't even make a decent fried rice. We went there because they had good reviews, but I cannot imagine why.

Makinzie G.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I shared a combination plate No. 2. The servings are really big so we asked if we could share a plate. It was more than enough! We even brought some home. The waitress was kind enough to give us 2 soups instead of just 1 with our combination plate. We also got 2 sodas. Our total was ONLY $24 before tip. The food is always so good and hot. The wait is never long as well. I've made a few reviews for Happiness but I'll continue to do so because they definitely deserve the recognition.

Yelp
Food is super good. The pictures don't do it justice. I ordered two entrées and I swear the bag must've weighed like 8 pounds. And I was really surprised by the quality too. It wasn't sloppy like most lo mein. It's also on the lighter and fresher side too. Packed with veggies and meats. And I don't know about ordering the other chicken entrées for delivery or take out because they send you the sauce on the side. But this comes out ready to eat. So good. Wife said "likes the crunchy bits." Pairs really well with sriracha. I got delivery and still the service was amazing because they put way more food in than necessary. Ambiance can't judge. But My couch was comfy.

Richard W.

Yelp
Communication sucks.. We have been in doctor appointments and X-rays all day. All my wife wanted was War Wonton from you.. I placed an order for over $100 with other food we ordered. You could have told me you were out of War Wonton when I ordered or called me to let me know. Driving from Cheney and then to be told you are out.. I canceled the whole order, I'm sure that means nothing to you ..

Yelp
Extensive menu. Our party ordered a number of different dishes and everything was excellent. Portions were very generous. The dining area was clean and bright. The servers were efficient and attentive. Definitely will be on our favorites list!
google avatar

Ivory G.

Yelp
Holy smokes, the portions were insane and everything was amazing. This is by far some of the best Chinese food you could ask for. This will definitely be our go to from now on. Definitely worth it.

Sandy M.

Yelp
Happiness is my family's favorite Chinese restaurant...with to-go orders, sauces (like orange chicken or sweet and sour) are served in separate containers which makes it so much easier. Portions are HUGE and all the dishes we have tried are delicious...we highly recommend Happiness!

Matty P.

Yelp
Everyone is always friendly. The food is always fresh. The portions are large. We've always ordered to - go, but the place looks cute inside.
google avatar

Ken M.

Yelp
I haven't been here in quite a while, but today I decided to come back, and I'm glad Zi did. They remodeled the interior a bit and it looks better, but the food was amazing. I ordered the lunch special and a hot tea. The hot and sour soup was the best I've ever had, delicious. Then ordered my usual, kung pow chicken, which is the best in the area. Everything was just incredible. Food delicious, service was good, and you get a lot of food. What more could you ask for.

Yelp
The food is Wonderful! The staff is gracious, but few. You receive large portions and the atmosphere is quiet

Susan B.

Yelp
The customer service was amazing, the food beyond delicious and plentiful. Kerry was so courteous and helpful. The pick up was flawless, everything was hot, well packaged and our 4 dishes gave three families dinner for the next few nights. Thank you, Thank you - We will be back. Susan Bierig

Yelp
Took 45 mins to pick up 1 delivery order of just 2 won ton soups haha. They literally already have that made for all day. People coming in after me and ordering and getting there food while they tell me oh it's 2 soups so 5 more min.wtf?? 0 stars

Yelp
Fabulous Chinese food. The family meal was delicious and the service was excellent. Nice restaurant with classic Chinese cuisine.

Yelp
Our first time here. We came a little late on a Friday night,, but that didn't phase them in the slightest. They welcomed us with open arms. Some of the reviews we saw weren't very complimentary about wait times, but we had zero problems getting very good service. The food was also served quickly. We ordered one of the family-style meals (for 2), and the serving portions were huge! We grazed on Chinese food for a few days after that. Lots of folks getting take-out here, most of them appeared to be regulars. The fare was typical Americanized Chinese food, but that's exactly what we expected, and wanted. We'll be back.

Katie S.

Yelp
Best Chinese food I've ever had in the Spokane area. The food was fresh and perfectly seasoned. Super cute little spot with great service. We will be regulars here.

Merle C.

Yelp
I have tried several times, on the basis of friend's recommendations, to give this place a chance. The food is bad, the service is bad, the ambience is bad. If the food was free, it would still be a "no go" for me.
google avatar

William P.

Yelp
Placed a to go order over the phone on Christmas Eve at 3:30pm. Was told it would take 45 minutes to 1 hour, which was fine. Arrived at 4:30pm and wash shocked to see the lobby completely full with people waiting on their to go orders, some who'd placed their orders well in advance around noon. Took about 30 minutes just to get an employee's attention, then another 45 minutes to check and finally be told that it didn't look like they'd written down my order when I called. Wish I could say this was a fluke for this place, but had a similar experience a couple years prior and again a year before that when my Mom swung by to pick up a to go order my wife and I had placed. Unless you're cool waiting hours for your order, and hours more even after the pick up time they quoted, avoid this place at all costs

Yelp
This place has the best Chinese food around. I am always happy with the service. The inside is always clean and well kept.

Yelp
This was one of my favorite go-to places in Spokane to order Chinese food. The flavor of the food is decent and the portion sizes are great especially for takeout. TAKEOUT: They are always late/slow. I've waited for up to 25 minutes before. Plan to set the pickup time for earlier or be prepared to wait especially during peak meal times. SERVICE: I came here with a young 20 month old toddler while pregnant. Knowing that they tend to be late/slow, I set a pick-up time for 30 minutes ahead of what I intended (so placed the order for 4:30pm pickup when I intended to get it around 5pm). I arrived there at 4:55pm and they did not have my order ready. I have my toddler with me and wait for 15 minutes and no updates were provided. Upon asking the lady at the front (I believe her name was Keri? Karrie?), she told me to be patient. I kindly waited another 10 minutes and my toddler was getting fussy. I approached her again to ask for an update and she informed me that one of my dishes is out of stock (Salt and Pepper Calamari) and if I could switch it out with anything else (so I chose Singapore Chow Mei Fun). She comes back to tell me that the do not have the Chow Mei Fun noodles for that dish and if they could swap out the noodle type, but this wouldn't be the same. I kindly said it's okay and to take out a dish from our order entirely and waited again. At 5:45pm, she approaches me and says that they accidentally "misplaced" our original ticket order from when I called in and asked what was on it....so basically I was waiting for NOTHING the entire time WITH a toddler and while being pregnant with horrible symptoms. I've been patient this whole time and am now upset asking what they could do. Were they going to discount anything or speed up the order? They only offered fried appetizer that no one in my family would eat with no other option as others were "already ahead in the order queue." I was absolutely livid and then Keri/Karrie? informed guests nearby that I've only been waiting for 20 minutes WHICH WAS TOTALLY UNTRUE and RUDE because I obviously overheard it. I was literally in tears at this point because I was made to look super impatient and crazy to strangers around when they were being unreasonable the entire time. On top of everything, they ended up giving me the Salt and Pepper Calamari which made it sound like they wasted my time the first time. AND THEN, they even over charged me an item I didn't order to which I had to DRIVE back to get my refund because there was no way to credit back the card or digitally send the refund. Due to this awful experience of Keri/Karrie...I no longer want to support this business. First time I have ever left a take-out order experience feeling this way....

Tyler R.

Yelp
Excellent had the Dragon and Phoenix, Singapore Noodle and fried appetizer. Tons of food crazy portions. Will try again.

Ashley E.

Yelp
great food, LARGE portions but that's great! Beautiful family ran restaurant; tipped the little boy for how helpful and how cute he was. Came to visit Spokane with my family and the restaurant was very nice.

Randy F.

Yelp
First time visit. Food was GREAT!! And huge portions! I would give it 5 stars but service was slow and lackluster. Restroom was unclean. We will return.
google avatar

Sam R.

Yelp
The best hot and sour soup in the city and everything else is great as well. Our go to for take out!

Marshall T.

Yelp
Food is very fresh and as good as Chinese food I've ever found. They were about 20 min behind pickup time. And the ambiance isn't great, but food is as good as it gets and you get HUGE portions.

Dylan P.

Yelp
Best Chinese food I've ever had. It was really good. You should go there. I promise.............................................
google avatar

Bunny S.

Yelp
We went on a very crowded night where one large party basically took over the entire restaurant. The food we had was decent but we'd like to try it again when it has a normal customer base and servers, etc.

Nick L.

Yelp
I have friends who recommend this place for take out, but was in the valley, so dropped in late one night. Maybe too close to closing time?!? Egg drop soup has lots of mushroom and veggie chunks. I enjoyed it, but my wife didn't so much. Chow Mein w/crisp noodles was on point, but the other three entrees on my combo were not fabulous. Almond chicken was too heavily breaded and in way too much bland gravy. Sweet and sour pretty much similar and fried rice was way overcooked mush (maybe don't walk in right before closing, I know right)
google avatar

DJ V.

Yelp
Don't let the building dissuade you from coming in and eating here. The portions are ginormous and so is the love put into the food. The service is kind. I enjoy coming here if I want left overs for two days. I definitely recommend sharing your meal with someone.

Madylin C.

Yelp
0/5 stars, food is mid to me. Me and my family have been going here for christmas for a few years now and the service never changes. order for it to go at 4:30? better be ready to wait 3 hours. Good lord is there service terrible. They over have orders, i hope this place close down from how long they make people wait. food is always cold when we wait over 3 hours.

Carla K.

Yelp
I would have given this less stars but given the fact the food was good and the quantity was overly generous I decided to give Happiness 3 stars. However, the food delivery to our hotel was less than desirable. The food was so over loaded in the takeout containers it leaked massive amounts of sauce in the bottom of the bag. It was a huge mess, we had to use hotel towels to clean it up which is embarrassing now that the towels are saturated in brown colored sauce. As usual, there were no utensils. What is with the absence of utensils with takeout these days, that's been the fifth time that's happened to me. So I had to hike to the front desk of the hotel to get utensils. Then we had to stand over a tall cabinet to eat it out of the containers because they were so overloaded and oozing over the sides of the containers. Not a great experience and it's as if someone at Happiness purposely overload the containers to be an ass. Not happy and am going to scratch Happiness off my list for takeout next time we come down to Spokane for cancer treatment.

Susan P.

Yelp
Not true chinese takeout. It's way overrated on these reviews. The portions are huge and not tasty.

Heath A.

Yelp
We put our order in at 11am and got confirmation for a to go order on Christmas Eve. When we arrived we waited for 2 hours and ended up cancelling our order after having no clarity or even being able to get confirmation of our order. Will never patronize this place again. Apparently this happens every year on Christ. Good luck with this business.
google avatar

Conni M.

Yelp
Instead of lunch, we had dinner. I ordered a cup of the Hot & Sour soup, which was delicious. My husband had the egg drop soup and thought it was not very flavorful. Also, there were *potatoes* in it! He ordered the chicken lo Mein with veggies and it was good. Just way too much of it. I ordered the #1 Combo with General Tsao's chicken. I asked if I could have chow Mein instead of the "fried" rice and our waitress said no, they don't do that. Funny when you look at the full plate of lo Mein served to my husband. The General Tsao's was very good - crisp in a great sauce, there were 4 nice sized tempura shrimp and sweet & sour pork, and ... the "fried" rice. Not really fried, just soy sauce mixed into white steamed rice. Again, waaay too much food. We ended up eating about ¼ of it, taking more home than what we ate. I'd love to see them reduce the meal sizes, lower the price a little, and allow basic substitutions, like noodles instead of rice.
google avatar

Tyrone M.

Yelp
We gravitate to this place when ever we are near by. It's hard to find good Chinese food in the area, especially since my wife is from China. But she likes this place for their chicken chow fun and shrimp chow mien. We get that here a lot and the family really likes it. I cannot vouch for service as we've never dined in, due to Covid restriction; but pick up service is fine. We'll be back, again and again.

Anthony S.

Yelp
We ordered take out and it was outstanding along with the service. I still can't get over the large servings and the quality of the food. Great job he will definitely be back.
google avatar

Heather Mae B.

Yelp
Do not order from this place - EVERY TIME we have ordered online we have to either wait over an hour for our food OR they don't even have the order. The service is crap and though the food is decent - lost our business for sure. Placed an order at 930am online for a 530pm pick up and they "just pulled it up on their phone" around 545pm. Didn't even offer to make the food simply said they just pulled it up. Yet we watched Grubhub AND other online orders being received. Why offer online ordering if it's not functional and if you KNOW your online ordering isn't functional then maybe you shouldn't offer it? The lady at the front needs to be canned. BEWARE.
google avatar

Karlene H.

Yelp
The food is good! This place is my go to for Chinese in Spokane. The problem is their online ordering and pickup system. 30 minutes after my food was supposed to be ready I was still sitting in the lobby waiting. The most uncomfortable experience is waiting in the lobby on a busy Friday night having to listen to the cursing, drunk bar patrons. The sweet lady at the desk was trying so hard, but they are either under staffed or need to DESPERATELY revamp the timing on their Beyond Menu system
google avatar

Francheska R.

Yelp
SO GOOD!!! The only reason for the missed star is how long it takes for the food to come out but it's totally worth the wait. Giant portions Tasty food All you need for a great Chinese restaurant :)

Casandra R.

Yelp
The atmosphere was not great it was complete silence until an employee started to play music from their phone (with ads). The food was not worth its price and the service was slow and we had little to no interaction with our server at all I went in with some hope from previous reviews but needless to say I will not be returning.

Lisa V.

Yelp
We ordered several different dishes and all of them had the same vegetables , zucchini, green peppers, red peppers and onions. And the chicken fried rice was absolutely bland. Don't waste your money here. We ordered:Cashew Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Beef, Hunan Shrimp, Chicken fried rice. Server was great. Food did take forever to come( not servers fault). Ok Ambience.

Yelp
A little rough on the outside but the staff and food was INCREDIBLE and DELICIOUS!!!! They were pretty poppin with people coming in steadily. The food portions were crazy huge for the price you pay...we have leftovers for two or three meals! The only suggestion would be to put money back into renovating the outside? The neon sign was out so we thought they were closed... but there were a few cars so we came in and were pleasantly surprised!!! Good good food!!! Portions 10/10, taste 10/10, atmosphere 9/10, price 10/10
