"The first thing diners notice about Happy Garden is its massive size, equipped to host its numerous wedding banquets throughout the season. Use this space to your advantage and bring all your friends to enjoy dim sum. On weekends, the restaurant is indeed packed full of families waving down various carts full of shumai, hargow, chicken feet, and pineapple buns. Your table will be full before you know it." - Illyanna Maisonet

This is the first time I have had my dim sum breakfast at the New Happy Garden in a few years. The service has significantly improved from a couple of years ago. They have very fast service and many dim sum carts to move the fresh dim sum around in front of all the tables. Most of the workers here can speak English. All four of us fixed our dim sum addiction in half an hour. The qualities of the dim sum are okay, but nothing is stand out. The dining room is a little dated. But I think I’ll be back due to their speedy service.

Average good place for dining in. The atmosphere was nice and comfortable, and the food was good too! The flavors were satisfying, and the portions were decent. Overall, a nice spot for a casual meal."

Traveling from North Dakota and was really wanting twice cooked pork. This restaurant popped up as number one in the area for it. The meal was excellent. The server was very attentive and explained the process for dining there as I had not been to a similar establishment before. She explained different items on the menu and even gave me delicious recommendations. I enjoyed the experience. I loved the ambiance and how nicely decorated the restaurant was for events. I definitely will return. If you like spice I recommend stopping by and trying their twice cooked pork!

My family and I have been coming here for years. They are wonderful and the food and service are always the best! I don't live as close as I used to but travel from North Laguna to eat there now. You can ask my kids what they want, and they won't say Panda Express or anything else they will say "Happy Garden". I'll ask if they want the one in Elk Grove or Sacramento. They always say Sacramento. That's because no other place can beat it! My family will always enjoy Happy Garden Sacramento and will support their business as much as we can. See you next time! (I'll try to take better pictures to next trip as I wasn't thinking about posting them here initially, and these don't give you full credit)

Google
Church crowd fills up the place early. Primarily Asian so maybe Buddhists get out of church early. Its dim sum so a few cute ladies push around fully loaded carts. They don’t speak English. Food was very good. We had about 8 different plates pork, duck, beef and shrimp something like veggies in a rice wrap but neither of us liked that one. Wish i could be more specific! I would recommend! Nice place. Brought a lot home and ate 3 days later!

Went to have breakfast, tried multiple items off the cart when it came around. Honestly surprised at how good the dishes were. Everything was savory and delicious.

Google
7/28/24 new finding: the restaurant charged "15 mgmt fee" to the bill equals to 15% of the food price for our table of 4 without telling us. Be aware!!! food still good, decent service, but scamming customers on tip. Nice restaurant, food came fast, hot, and delicious. Friendly people. Service has improved.

Yelp
An authentic Hong Kong style dim sum restaurant that has plenty of delicious options. From the moment one enters the door, servers warmly greet you, ask for your party size, and beckon you in. Right as one sits down, servers with carts flock to you, rapidly and eagerly serving you all sorts of delicious options. The service is immediate and lightning fast! They all speak English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and many will ask if you would like to order anything specific that isn't shown on the carts. The sesame balls with red bean paste was my favorite dish, but the others didn't fail to disappoint as prices are quite affordable, starting at 4.50 for small dishes, 5.00 for medium, and 5.50 for large dishes. The room is also lavishly decorated with a stage and dance floor (probably for weddings), drapes hanging from the ceiling, and chandeliers dotting the area.

Yelp
Sad Garden was more fitting to my experience. Warning! Holidays and celebrations days be aware that if you are dining as two people you are going to get lost in the crowd to receive good service. Two diners are not spending enough to matter. Management and staff are tone deaf to being in the service and hospitality business to understand your complaints and concerns when ordering from the menu. Don't want apologies or excuses in difficulty operating a business. I would appreciate value as a customer a lot more. Happy Fathers Day!

Yelp
I want to start by saying that this restaurant is MY FAVORITE for dim sum and we love coming here. The items listed below are ALL 5 OUT OF 5: Su Mi Pork and Shrimp Crispy Taro Turnover Salt and Pepper Shrimp Shrimp Chow Fun Lobster Turnover This review is focused on two dishes I recently tried that I felt need to come with a warning: Twice cooked pork (2/5) - they used char shu pork which is Cantonese and tossed it in some kind of sweet sauce? instead of the traditional sichuan preparation Fried Shrimp Ball (2/5) - they used the shrimp balls usually reserved for hot pot and I'm used to chunks of actual shrimp

Kamonte D.

Yelp
Been coming here for years, me and my wife, first time I had them was several years ago at work and I was hooked ever since! Succulent lobster with bits of green onions and cilantro. I must say I am ashamed to say that this is the only thing I've ever tried from them, will definitely have to try something else ASAP but do yourself a favor and get a order or 2 of these! My only complaint is they used to be way bigger years ago but I can understand with the way things are now a days... I will still continue to buy them and devour them

Ant G.

Yelp
Place never disappoints! Came here on Mother's Day around 11:30am. Line was out the door. We had a party of 7. Had to park across from CVS. By the time I found my party inside they were already seated and food was already on the table. Their system is really good when seating, drinks and orders.

Bobby J.

Yelp
Yummmmmy!!! Was dreaming of dim sum today so tried Happy Garden. It was heaven! Alll the dimsum we ordered and picked were so good. The Peking duck was to die for. The xiolongbao was so good and had lots of soup inside. Service was fast and they were very attentive

Desarai S.

Yelp
I love happy garden !! My fav dim sum place in sac. The owners are so nice I love them. Service is fast and great. I drive 30+ minutes to eat here ! The establishment is always clean and nice to be in To- go/ pick up orders are also very easy and fast. I normally do to-go and by the time I arrive it's already ready.

Alex M.

Yelp
Best dimsum in Sacramento, HANDS DOWN!!!! And the sweet egg cream bun is the best!! Best egg yolk buns I've ever had!!!!!!! 10 out of 10 and the workers there are so nice and the place is nice and big, perfect for venues.

Cynthia Z.

Yelp
Shrimp dumpling - 4/5 the wrap fell apart but the taste is one point Shumai - 5/5 Lotus leaf sticky rice with chicken - 2/5 lack flavor. Don't recommend Steamed rice roll with tempura shrimp: 10/5 it is some of the best I have ever had Unfortunately we received really terrible service. Our rice roll was apparently delivered to another table and we were patiently waiting forever (at least 30 min). No one checked on us until I asked, then no one said anything so I had to ask again and again, and no one apologized for the wait. Funny because I overheard them speaking Cantonese about delivering it to the other table and they didn't say a word to us. Just told us it'll be here soon. Then some lady took my credit card and put in her pocket and forgot about it. Again after waiting forever for it, I ended up asking. Overall the food is okay but they really need to step up their service. We went in the afternoon and there were only a total of 3-5 tables and a lot of servers. It was not busy at all, and there's really no excuse for the lack of attention to their customers.

Kit N.

Yelp
Dim Sum HEAVEN This is my family's favorite Asian dim sum restaurant. The carts go by with tons of delicious variety and great deals. It's just delicious and super fun at that!

Alex C.

Yelp
Came here for the first time to celebrate my MIL's birthday. First impressions upon walking in is that this space is HUGE. They had half the area walled off for a private event on the other side, but the remaining area was still incredibly spacious! The venue itself looked pretty nice, especially with the beautiful chandeliers. There was even a large stage off to one side for weddings and other parties! Service here was definitely mixed. Some waitresses either walked off before you could finish asking your request, or would simply forget to come back to bring you what you had asked for (dim sum menu, napkins, check, etc..). While others (and one in particular) was incredibly courteous and prompt in everything they were doing. Although it was not particularly busy that night on the side we were dining in, I assume the staff must have been quite swamped working on the private event on the other side, because the food took FOREVER to come out. Our first entrée to arrive was Empress Steam Chicken. Which despite its name, was served cold (clearly just came out of the fridge and was NOT steamed). After being served that dish, we literally cleaned the plate, and waited a solid 20mins afterwards before our next dish even arrived. In fact, the dishes were so poorly timed that 15mins after we wound up finishing our meal, our last dish of Garlic Pea Sprouts finally came out. While some of the dishes were pretty good, overall we felt the food to not be very authentic. An example was their Crab Meat Yi-Mein, which was actually served with what appeared to be ramen, rather than the traditional yi-mein we all know. They apparently serve dim sum the whole day, as we saw a table next to us only order dim sum items. Although we did not know this initially, as they did not present us with the dim sum menu until we later asked for it. Prices on their website are not reflective of their actual prices, as they apparently have not bothered to update it. Parking is readily available in their private lot.

Yelp
This place has a lot of options. The service is good and fast. The food is what you decide on def matters. Most of my plates here have always been fresh and delicious. The buns could use more stuffing as some items that form with seafood such as shrimp. I feel like the stuffing and seafood portions are very minimal. The soups are some of my favorites here. The duck is always a hit !

Joanna B.

Yelp
I've been coming here for over 30 years, when I was younger and it used to be called Ocean King, we would drive all the way from Orangevale! Family owned and operated with a phenomenal menu! I ALWAYS get the honey walnut prawns and salt and pepper crab... unbeatable! People who are leaving bad reviews are off the wall and if you look at their pages they clearly have a track record of ripping on businesses. Soup price- cmon, crab and albalone is more expensive than wonton soup, be real.. Support local businesses! Great food! Great service bc clearly you don't go to a place for three decades unless it's delish! It's a large dining hall- I think they do events here? Not sure

Paula C.

Yelp
Its been a while since I came back here. Its good to be back. Outside was nicer since its renovated, cane in early since they always busy here. Good quality Chinese food and lots of options! Cant wait to go back for more :).

Yelp
I wanted to order some seafood soup but it wasn't listed on the menu, so I showed the lady one of the pictures below that was posted by a fellow Yelper who dined here. She had to take my phone to the back to ask her coworker what to price it at since it apparently wasn't on the menu and came back saying it was gonna be $28. My relatives have hosted 4+ weddings at this restaurant so I assumed it would be a similar serving portion as it would be when dining in if it was a specialty item. Paid and came back to this little container that would hold a small bowl of Pho. I feel so stupid even typing this out because I feel so duped. I was about to walk off but decided to ask them to point out what item it was on the menu so I could check the price but since it doesn't exist on there (despite still updating their prices throughout the years), another lady just said that it's a combo of #10 and #11, making Crab Meat Abalone Soup. Kind of having mixed feelings because if I directly ask an older relative about this, I'm definitely getting my a** whooped for paying the cost and not questioning it. Please reach out to me if anyone here has ordered the same thing, whether takeout or dine-in, and what price they quoted you. Meanwhile, I'll now have to go and ask the elders around me if this sounds right to them lol.

Yelp
Love this restaurant! The dim sum is consistently really good and they have carts everyday. Our go-to place even though it's a bit of a drive for us.

Molly R.

Yelp
We live out of state now, so dim sum is hard to come by (crying face). We made this one of our stops to satisfy our dim sum craving. I've haven't tried the chive and shrimp dumpling before from here, but omg they're the best I've ever had! The dumpling is definitely in house made . The wrapper is clear and chewy, yet soft, and it is literally stuffed with as much shrimp as it can fit. I got our order to go and paid at the counter, but please do count your change though, because I gave the guy $100 bill and my change was supposed to be 40 something and he only gave me one 20 dollar bill back instead of 2. When I had realized it, I went back to the counter and told him and he didn't even hesitate to hand me back the missing 20.. they were really busy but idk..

Nancy T.

Yelp
I honestly love this restaurant whether it's for dim sum, family dinner, takeout, and even as a wedding venue. This review is going to focus on dim sum since it's my go-to restaurant for it in the area for a variety of reasons since it's a huge restaurant, you'll always get seated right away and it can accommodate large parties, their service is good and fast and the carts come around with fresh dim sum very often, and their food tastes great! I love all the dim sum staples they have. I especially love their fried shrimp balls .

Chris L.

Yelp
Dined for dim sum on a Saturday afternoon. We were impressed with how quick the service was. The staff are all friendly and convinced us to order far more items than we had planned! I really like how they had many fresh, random kitchen items (oysters, duck, chow mein, desserts) going around tables in addition to the standard carts. The food here is passable, but nothing amazing, even for Sacramento standards. I thought the other dim sum competitors in the city all had better taste. Globally, the dishes lacked flavor and didn't taste as authentic. Of all the dishes I ordered, the tripe and oysters (kitchen item) were the best. I agree with other reviews that the texture of the chicken feet is just weird and processed instead of having the springy feel to the skin. While I had mixed feelings about the food already, the prices at Happy Garden Seafood were the most exorbitant of all the dim sum restaurants in the area. $6 for small/standard dishes, $6.50 for premium ones, and $12 for kitchen items. The quality and taste did not live up to their pricing, and I left feeling more inclined to visit other options for dim sum in the future.

Yelp
3.5 My friend got married here. The venue is huge. There was another wedding next door and it was a shared bathroom. I thought the food was pretty good for wedding food. But my friend who's been here often said it was ok this time around. We had lobster, Peking duck, walnut prawns, appetizer, birds nest, crab, all good. Tables were packed in tight. My biggest thing was the bathrooms were disgusting. Even walking there was gross. It was going through storage area and bathrooms weren't cleaned, especially housing 2 huge Asian weddings.

Celina V.

Yelp
My family and I came here since our usual spot was too crowded. We haven't been here in years! They recently remodeled. We came here for dim sum at noon and surprisingly it wasn't crowded. Service was a little slow at first but I think they were restocking the carts. I like that they also walk around with special dishes like clams with black bean sauce and oysters. I was super hungry, everything was pretty tasty! My favorites are always the shrimp chong fun and bbq pork buns. The salt and pepper tofu and clams with black bean sauce were really good too. Pretty solid spot!

Bishop B.

Yelp
This place used to be decent, but never 4/5 stars good. This last visit was definitely my final visit here, ever. The outside looked so nice, it had been recently renovated, however, it is VERY misleading to the actual quality of service and food inside. No one greeted us at the door. When our presence was finally acknowledged by the staff, the waitress didn't say hi, she literally just waved to us, far, far away and pointed at a table. The table she pointed to was dirty and sticky, it was gross - so gross that when any of the food that was actually edible (only the Chinese broccoli) slipped and fell on the table, I wouldn't touch it after that... good food wasted because this business cannot and will not clean their tables appropriately. The cups for the tea were not as clean as they should have been, but weren't filthy. After ordering, we got our shu mai, and it was nearly COMPLETELY undercooked. I bit into it and ate it, and it didn't feel or taste right due to it being undercooked. The couple seated at the other filthy table next to us asked, "Is your shu mai cooked??" They also had received raw shu mai. After we brought this up to the manager/only person who spoke fluent English, she blamed "the lady in the back" and said that she herself "started the shu mai" and that "the lady should have known it wasn't done." Her blaming this on "the lady in the back" was very unprofessional. The only professional thing she did was waive the entire bill after our pork buns were also very, very raw. HOW DO YOU UNDERCOOK PORK BUNS??? SET A MF TIMER!! After we waited for the rest of our food, I decided to use the restroom... and oh my God it smelled absolutely horrendous. It literally smelled like the piss on the floor hadn't been cleaned for months and months, and it looked like it too. Undercooked shu mai and undercooked pork buns, horrible, disgusting, unclean bathroom, filthy tables, unclean cups, unprofessional staff, just a nice laundry list of reasons to avoid this place. We are lucky we didn't get sick. Many people say "if the bathroom at a Chinese restaurant is dirty, then the food is !" I have found this to be true in the past, however, it is 2023, and almost every quality Chinese restaurant I now go to has a very clean restroom, and amazing food, i.e. Andy's Chinese Kitchen near the Folsom Outlets. Avoid this HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE place. THE PICTURES ON THIS YELP DO NOT REPRESENT THE CURRENT STATE OF THIS TERRIBLE RESTAURANT. This is the worst dim sum restaurant in Sac. SKIP.

Sham S.

Yelp
The food and services was good, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone. The cod fish with blk bean sauce was our favorite. Definitely I'll be back for more and a different dish.

Melanie H.

Yelp
Everything here overall was pretty reasonable and decent, but I think I still prefer dim sum at Asian Pearl. I definitely enjoyed more unique dishes like calamari and fried taro more than the traditional siu mai or har gow. I was expecting to see turnip cake rolled around in the carts and placed an order instead. However, I was really disappointed with the wait time for this and lack of communication between the server and our group for this, as we waited 30+ minutes for one order and was about to finished our meal by then. Nonetheless, I got it to go and it was delicious, but I wouldn't wait for this again. TURNIP CAKE: 4.5/5 This was a solid turnip cake. The texture was perfect as it was soft, thick, and chewy. It was super flavorful, and this was among one of the best turnip cakes I've had. This doesn't seem to be in the dim sum carts, so I would order this as soon as you sit down through the server to not wait as long as my group did. FRIED CALAMARI RINGS: 4.5/5 I never knew calamari would be served at a dim sum restaurant, but I was surprised at how tasty this was. The batter had a satisfying crunch and was nicely seasoned, and they sprinkled it with peppers. This was really tasty when dipped in soy sauce and chili garlic oil. CRISPY TARO TURNOVER: 4/5 I wasn't expecting to like this, but it was really good! The spider-webbed exterior is light but crunchy, and the filling is full of flavor. HAR GOW: 3/5 Nothing special. I didn't love the texture of the har gow dough, but it was okay. The shrimp filling was decent though. SHMAI: 3/5 Nothing special either, but it wasn't bad at all. Would've loved if the meat and shrimp filling had more seasoning. SHRIMP CHONG FUN: 2/5 This is my favorite dim sum dish, and it was really disappointing here. The texture of the rice roll itself was fine, but the shrimp tasted lackluster. The sweet soy sauce itself was super bland, which made the dish not as enjoyable.

Louise E.

Yelp
Late lunch today (around 1pm) was not busy. There's just one other table dining. There's plenty of dimsum to choose from as always and most were freshly cooked. The service was great since it was not a busy afternoon. Everything we ordered were really tasty and flavorful.

Marlon Y.

Yelp
Great friendly service here! Salt and pepper cod and house fried rice is a must. Big shout out to this restaurant for all they do to support the community as well!

Celia I.

Yelp
We were in the area, so decided to try out a new dim sum place. When we first entered we noticed the large updated room. We were quickly seated and served beverages followed by our first dish. They were not extremely busy, but had a good amount of patrons. Food was either presented in rolling carts or held by walking servers. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, food was mediocre. It satisfied my dim sum craving, but left me a bit disappointed since they were limited in their options. Not sure I would eat there again, but I may if I was in the area and desperate for dim sum.

Genzo K.

Yelp
Outstanding Dim Sum lunch. The family and I chose this place from previous reviews and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is open and clean with plenty of other patrons. Our server was so friendly! And unlike other restaurants recently visited, they offered any dish we requested in Dim Sum sizes for us to enjoy. A full menu, and probably the best chicken feet and black bean pork spare ribs in the South Sacramento area. I really enjoyed the S&P Shrimp (with heads on) and Gai Lan (Chinese Broccoli) off the menu. We also ordered a lunch combination off the menu and the portion was enormous! The prices were appropriate and everything was a +1 for freshness and flavor. The next time we visit Sacramento we shall return!

Cody A.

Yelp
We arrived around 1pm and wanted to order off the menu (instead of dim sum). Cantonese style menu. Everything was delicious and served hot straight from the kitchen. Roast Duck with Taro Clay Pot, Rock Cod Fish Filets with Bok Choy, Seafood Delight in Noodle Nest, and Peking Spareribs. We could have asked for a knife or scissor to cut the spareribs into smaller pieces. Planning on coming back for dinner with a larger party so we can try more dishes. The restaurant is large and can definitely host multiple large parties. Nicely decorated.

Boqun Y.

Yelp
Still one of my favorite dim sum places at Sacramento. The food is good, and service is decent. Besides dim sum, my favorite is the oyster, ordered that pretty much every time I visit. One reminder for people going there for dim sum, make sure don't order and accept too many of their special orders, which could be really expensive. I wasn't aware of that previously.

Lydia A.

Yelp
I bet you've seen that article that the best Chinese spots have a perfect 3.5 stars. I'm giving this place 5 and hope I don't mess them up, because this is my go to spot for dimsum. Everything here comes out hot and delicious. Granted, I don't think anyone speaks English, but the service is prompt and friendly/efficient. I'm also not sure if there is a bathroom, but if you are just in it for legit delicious food at Chinatown prices, then this is the spot. Some of my favorites include the eggplant shrimp, salt and pepper prawns that are earth shatteringly crisp and the sesame balls. While it is always best to go with a large group for variety, they also have smaller tables, so don't let that deter you.

Marciel B.

Yelp
My friend and his daughter have raved about Dim Sum and while this is my first experience, it WILL NOT BE MY LAST!!!! We literally tried a little bit of everything. The experience was authentic feeling and everything was fresh.

Slackerov S.

Yelp
First time going here today after driving past it for many years. We stopped in for dim sum in the afternoon. It was pretty busy when we got there. Luckily the parking lot is big. The place is huge and very clean. We were seated right away and the carts were flowing. We got the standards and saw a lot of new dishes to try. We left extremely full, as we tend to do when going to dim sum. Looking forward to our next visit.

Yelp
SUMMARY Legit dim sum spot with large, clean dining room, good service, large parking lot, and a nice bonus surprise! FOOD 4* These stars for the dim sum. Been here twice to be sure and this now my fav DS spot in Sac. They got all the dumplings, all the classics, and special items you won't normally see at DS joints, like fresh garlic oysters. Har gow, sui mai, cherng fun, chicken feet, everything tasted fresh and LEGIT. DS chef is doing it right. Also had some classic kitchen items beef chow fun and lobster noodles came out smoking with that dragon breath wok hei!!! Quality of chilli oil is EZ litmus test and it was FIRE. Special BONUS they serve DS all day and night. (at least on weekends). So you can get your dumpling fix at 7PM. Pretty cool, don't know WTF I didn't see this in other reviews. SERVICE 4* Service was good both times we went. Seated quickly, servers were available and friendly, we had no issues here. Better than avg vs typical AZN joints IMO. LOCATION 4* The dining hall is big, like a proper banquet style Chinese restaurant. Well lit and clean too, looks recently remodelled. It's in a large strip mall plaza with plenty of parking in front. It is in So Sac but on the AZN end, IYKYK. RECOMMENDATIONS All the DS is good. If you like spice the chilli oil is delicious. Order something fresh from the kitchen wok, like a stir fry noodle. Try DS for dinner!

Leng S.

Yelp
One of our favorite dim sum restaurants. Lots of tables, so lots of room for larger groups. Love the cart service filled with tasty food.

Yelp
Another Hot Spot for Dim Sum! If you haven't already been here, I highly recommend the high ceilings, the newly constructed palace, along with great hospitality and delicious food. If you've ever been to an Asian dinner wedding, this is exactly what it would be, subtract the Band, Bride & Groom. The beautiful venue with over 100 chairs and a center stage can be rented out for your next beautiful event. I may just host my sons 6th grade graduation here next year. The prices are decent, very like Kings Palace dim sum and other dim sum places. The food was hot and ready within 5-10 mins--they are fast successful cooks. The taste is very much consistent with our taste buds, the service is very attentive which is highly important when venturing n eating out. 5/5 Star for everything. FYI- the parking lot is under construction which makes it looks like they're closed--but they are NOT. They are very much open for business and waiting for you! No reservations needed unless your like a group of 100 of course haha which than they can still make it work!

Cassidy E.

Yelp
First time here and it definitely didn't disappoint. I was craving dim sum and spotted this place on yelp and thought to try out something new. The inside is huge and very nice looking, reminds me of a prettier and cleaner Asian pearl. We got seated right away as it wasn't too busy during lunch time. The service was great and our food came out fast. My favorite was the chicken feet and the shrimp roll. Definitely coming back and would recommend to friends.

Jessica M.

Yelp
Discovered a new dimsum place in sac and decided to check it out. The service was good and the staff were really nice, but the food was coming out too slow. We went at 10:30. The flavor of the food was ok, but some dishes were too salty. I really liked the congee and hargow. Food itself, I would give a 3/5.

True.Vibe M.

Yelp
Tried dimsum for a weekday lunch with hardly anyone about, and what we had was delicious and fresh. Not surprisingly, there weren't as many assortment in the carts because of the time and day but they tried to accommodate what we asked for. We had the Har Gow, Shiu Mai, Black Bean Spare Ribs (not as meaty), Crystal Chives Gor, Crispy Taro Turnover (so light and airy!), Rice in Lotus Leaf, Shrimp Chong Fun (the white steamed roll up) , Pork Chong Fun, Mini bbq pork buns and the sesame seed ball. The ambiance is of a huge open space and can see how it can fill up during busy times and be noisy, and also meant for large banquets. Looks like they're also updating the decor. Location isn't the best but will definitely be back to try their other items. The staff that was there was friendly and nice! The food we tried was yummy and definitely worth a visit!

Victoria B.

Yelp
Recommended by my cousin that I try this restaurant and I was happily surprised. We came during a slow time, but based on the size of the restaurant I can imagine it's usually busy with people during the lunch and dinner times for dim sum. I'm only leaving 4 stars because I haven't gotten to try dim sum here, when I do, I will update my review! We thoroughly enjoyed the food we ordered and have ordered the shrimp alone for a quick to-go snack! My father ordered the chicken feet and out of personal preference of textures wasn't a fan, but said the flavor was there! The staff also helped us when indecisive of what to order and we received our to-go order quickly. I will be back again for the full dim sum experience!

Yelp
OMG The best little custard pie I've ever had. I have had DimSum in Hong Kong and those custard tarts riveled them. Went with a friend and the two of us were quite satisfied with this place. It's huge inside. It would be great for a big party. The carts did come to the table. My friend said that she has ordered off the menue before. Maybe they do it both ways. The chicken feet and the pork ribs were spot on. VERY IMPRESSIVE We split the check and I payed 40 bucks (that included tip)

Yelp
A few things that this place needs to take into consideration to better serve their customers and community. First, as we were seated, we weren't given a menu as the host just assumed that we wanted only dim sum. Mind you, it was quite busy so they were pushing their carts through, however, my party wasn't interested in just dim sum as we wanted to order things that weren't served on the cart. I had to ask repeatedly for a menu and was finally able to get one when the host went to the back of the room to "search" for one. Food was okay, I honestly think all dim sum style tastes alike but the temperature of the food was cold. The service could be better though as we literally had to keep waving waiters down for refills and napkins. I was wondering why they kept avoiding our table but at the end when I received our tab, I noticed that there was already a $30 gratuity included; which explains why the service was so bad. I mean, why give good service when a party of 6 was already guaranteed to be charged for tip right? First time and definitely the last time here and no, I did not find happiness in this garden.

Yelp
My team and I love setting up at this restaurant. Communication is great and they're always very accommodating. Set up times can get tight due to their busy dim sum lunch hour but as long as you plan properly and communicate with them, the job gets done.

Yelp
I asked the waitress if they have congee she said "later". I ask her when is later? she said she doesn't know . I asked the male afterwards if they have congee he said it'll take about 20 to 30 minutes, so I said I'll order, then he replied, I'm not even sure if we have some not even bothering to check if they have the dish. So here's the situation, last time I ordered congee here they gave the congee when we're about to leave when we're already full because they don't want to give the congee at the start of the meal because we will get full and order less of the more expensive stuff. Now they're trying to do the same thing. In this way they're ruining the dining experience because i want to eat the effin dish. All dimsum restaurant have congee and this dirty tactic leaves a bad customer experience and not worth leaving a tip for. These are the mind of these MFs, to shortcut things to increase profit without thinking that repeat customers are what makes them money. I'm not even mentioning their food. For example, the sweet and sour pork is just mainly flour and very sparse meat, bbq pork bun barely has meat, just the paste of whatever the fk that is.. We left the place and went somewhere else.

Yelp
Been here a couple times already. I've been here to a Christmas Party, a Birthday Party, dining in and take out. I can say overall the have quality food and service. The very last time I was there, I went into dinner during Chinese New Year. My parents enjoyed it. We first entered into an empty restaurant. Within 15 minutes the restaurant started getting crowded. Food is awesome and our waitress checked up on us to refill our hot teas and water.

Yelp
The signs in front of this very famous restaurant are changed to New Happy Garden Seafood Restaurant after the significant remodeling of the shopping center. The restaurant has a much better and more impressive new exterior now! However, there did not have much change inside the restaurant! Same layout, same old decorations, same old tables, and chairs! They're also suffering from the worker shortage as many other restaurants in the Sacramento area. They don't have a receptionist available when I walk into the restaurant. Many empty tables, but also many customers are standing at the front door waiting. They don't even have a waiter or waitress available, or I should say the dim sum cart ladies also have to do the jobs of the waitresses and push the dim sum carts simultaneously! Fortunately, the dim sums are still reasonable, and most of the items are hot, except one of my dim sums - the BBQ pork rice rolls are cold. I hope they will able to back to normal soon!

Yelp
Always enjoy the food and love the sisters. The service is great and I have to say the owners make you feel like family. My entire family love this place and have great memories of lunches and dinners there.

Yelp
Just had lunch with a couple old buddies that haven't seen a long time. Picked this place because we were suppose to have more people and wanted a place with a large round table. Last minute a few cancel so there were only 3 of us, saw they was serving dim sum from carts, excellent and was told if there was something that we didn't see and wanted we can order it. Food, service excellent thank you.
