London's Best Affordable Group Dinners - London - The Infatuation

"At polished spot Happy Lamb Hot Pot in Holborn, there are comfortable booths and big round tables for groups, all of which belie the potential mess you might make fishing out a bouquet of enoki mushrooms last seen in your spicy broth 10 minutes ago. You need a couple of broths—one fizzing with chilli and Sichuan pepper is a must—and from there it’s a case of how many things you want to dip, dunk, and slurp up over a bowl of rice. Finely sliced rib-eye and lamb shoulder go down a treat, as do chunks of tofu, cabbage leaves, and hand-cut noodles." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna

London’s Best Hotpot Restaurants for Sichuan and Cantonese Meals | Eater London

"Mongolia-based chain Little Sheep Hot Pot arrives in London with four soup bases: “milky” bone marrow broth; spicy bone marrow broth; pickled cabbage broth; and tomato broth. Opt for either half and half or split three-ways. The usual hot pot suspects make an appearance like a wide selection of choi, noodles and thinly slices of beef, pork and tripe, but the fresh lamb loin is cooked on a hot slab of slate that’s tilted at an angle, so all the meaty cooking juices flow right into the stock getting more delicious as time goes on. Plenty of options for the non-meat eaters, too. Fish tofu, fish with tobiko, an impressive seafood platter served on a bed of ice, homemade potato noodles and taro vermicelli noodle bundles." - Angela Hui

I had a great experience at this hotpot restaurant. The broth was flavorful, the ingredients were fresh, and the portion sizes were generous. I especially liked the variety of meats and vegetables, and the dipping sauce bar had everything I needed to customize the perfect flavor. The staff were friendly and attentive, checking on us regularly and helping with recommendations. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, and the service was quick even during busy hours. Overall, it’s a great place for hotpot lovers, and I would definitely come back again. Highly recommend!

I came to Happy Lamb in Bayswater for the All You Can Eat Student Happy Hour deal and it was absolutely fantastic! The restaurant has such a warm and lively atmosphere, perfect for a casual meal with friends or a fun solo treat. The hotpot spread was incredible – fresh, high-quality ingredients with plenty of variety to choose from. The broths were rich, flavorful, and customizable, so every bite felt unique and satisfying. Service was quick and friendly, and the staff made sure everything was topped up and explained clearly, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. As a student deal, this is unbeatable value – generous portions, all-you-can-eat, and such a cozy place to relax and eat to your heart’s content. Definitely one of the best hotpot experiences I’ve had in London, and I’ll 100% be coming back again. Highly recommend!

This hotpot was comforting and full of flavour from start to finish. The broth was rich and well-balanced, enhancing every ingredient without overpowering it. The meats were fresh and tender, the vegetables crisp, and the sauce station made each bite customisable and fun. Warm, social, and deeply satisfying—perfect for sharing and hard not to love.

This place offers great value for money, especially the popular combo meals. My family absolutely loves the roasted lamb chops, though the rest of the dishes are fairly average. It stays open late, so we can enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace.

Ive been twice already and the food is fantastic. Very reasonably priced! Service is very fast. The presentation is gorgeous and there is so much food per serving of meat. 1 portion of 200g is enough for 2 people. And wow the broth. So delicious!

First of all, when we entered the restaurant, the staff wearing a blue shirt who greeted us had a very unfriendly attitude. He didn’t explain any of the dining rules at all and only told us that because we arrived late, the last order time would be 17:30 (30 minutes later). After ordering, the food took a very long time to arrive. The vegetable platter came first, but due to the pressure of the last order time, we asked when the meat platter would arrive and about the portion size. We were told the chef was still slicing the meat, but the meat platter only arrived more than 20 minutes later. Later, we found a hair in our hot pot. The staff member only said “sorry” and took away our bowl to replace it with a new one, with no further explanation or compensation. When it came time to pay, we noticed we were overcharged. We were then told that sauces require an extra charge and that it is written on the menu. However, no one explained this rule when we ordered, and honestly, it’s very easy to miss. The overall feeling was that customers were expected to know everything by default. As for the food itself: The mala broth was very average, the tomato broth was extremely oily and became quite heavy after a while, and the frozen tofu tasted slightly sour. Some ingredients and meats were self-serve from the buffet area, but when items ran out, they were not refilled. We also ordered a kumquat lemon drink, which tasted terrible — it had a strong bleach-like flavour and no kumquat or lemon taste at all. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and we would not return for a second visit.
