Happy Lemon sets an opening date in Chinatown | Eater Vegas

"Shanghai-born bubble-tea brand founded in 2006 with more than 650 global locations (and only four high-profile U.S. outposts) is opening a fifth Chinatown counter-service shop. The upbeat concept specializes in “rock salted cheese” and lemon-forward beverages, promotes a menu stripped of preservatives and artificial additives, and emphasizes freshly made teas and coffees. Standout and unusual offerings include milk tea boba puff cream, mango matcha smoothies, a kumquat lemon slushy, and freshly squeezed lemon green tea. Following the lead of its New York, Boston, and San Francisco locations, the new store will open Friday, May 3, and run buy-one-get-one-free deals for the following two days. It occupies a roughly 1,660-square-foot space that formerly housed a dry cleaner and sits a few doors down from Nanay Gloria and TangTangTang in Chinatown." - Bradley Martin

It was right by the asian grocery store and we were thirsty. My daughter wanted passion fruit and I wanted taro, they were able to accommodate our drinks that we wanted. The ambiance was nice.

Haven't had Happy Lemon in years!!! Drinks were tasty, one of them even came with a cute lemon topper. The atmosphere is bright with lots of indoor seating, some outdoor seating. Inside are some board games to play with friends, very chill vibes. It's next to a big Vietnamese grocery store, so you can do some shopping before or after you get a drink.

I saw that they were opening on IG and decided to give it a try. We went during their opening weekend and it was busy. The service was fast and the staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered the green tea with salted cheese, jasmine green tea, freshly squeezed honey lemon green tea, mango yakult smoothie and the marcha bubble waffle with taro puff cream. Everything was made to order, fresh, tasty and refreshing. We will definitely come back when we come to the area.

Google
Such a great place and super cute! Everyone was really nice, even in the rush, they were so polite. There’s so much space inside and seating outside. Parking is very convenient. Our drinks were really well made and we got them pretty quick. Definitely found our new go-to boba spot!

Google
The milk tea that I settled for was tasty. However, I usually get mango milk tea from other places. I respect not having the supplies to make it. A lot of places don't. I asked for a recommendation and the lady responded with "our mango is good" I said awesome! Can you by chance make a mango milk tea? The answer was no. I asked if they used a syrup for the flavor. Response was yes. "Can you just add some mango syrup to my milk tea?" No."Bummer. OK then." Not a huge deal, in the grand scheme of things. But like, why?

Google
The first time I came here, I ordered their lemonade drink and it was SUPER SOUR, like they forgot to add sugar even tho we request 100% sugar. Second time, my cousin recommend me to try D5 with crystal boba and 50% sugar. I didn’t realized how sweet it was at just 50%, I can’t imagine 100% sugar. Their crystal boba tasted delicious. It’s a good place to hangout with friends since there’s plenty of seats and good places to take photos.

Google
The milk tea has an excellent balance of sweetness and flavor along with a perfect temperature. The bubble waffles are very tasteful and pleasing to the eye. Thankfully at Happy Lemon there are varieties of drinks and waffle options for majority of taste pallets. Friendly staff, warming atmosphere, lively environment as well as a very clean dining area. Open until 11:00 PM on Friday’s and Saturday’s is convenient especially getting off work and craving a sweet snack.

Google
This is a very chill spot to catch up with a friend or get some work done. We tried the bubble waffles with their side dip and it was super good. Different from something else I've had. My friend loved her drink and we just spent the whole time playing checkers. 😅 I would definitely come again.

Yelp
SO YUMMY! I got a regular milk boba with their puff cream and tasted like a silky nice boba mixed with the filling of a cream puff. Lots of places to study inside or catch up with someone. Very friendly staff who said she would remake my drink or add sweetness if I did not like it and gave me water and wanted to answer any questions I had. Y'all should go!

Yelp
This is a great spot for a variety of boba teas and bubble waffles! My daughter and I stopped by for tea and ordered their Oreo Milk Tea and Mango Green Tea, both with 50% sugar. Their staff are always kind and friendly, offering suggestions about their seasonal limited time offerings. Their cafe is simple and always kept clean. Their parking lot is easy in and out, which I appreciate being on the busy/popular Colonial Drive. This is a great family friendly spot as well. Highly recommend!

Yelp
On my quest to find my favorite taro milk boba tea I stopped here. (conveniently located within the drive back from the pottery studio) The interior is super cute! With Japanese style claw machines and even one where you can get a Sanrio character. Service was great, and friendly. Admittedly, I was a little disappointed to find that the closest thing to a taro milk tea they have is an Ube cream puff thing that is honestly more like a milkshake than a tea. It was good, don't get me wrong, but I would not categorize it as tea at all. Loved the taste of the ube infused boba pearls though. I don't know that this is the first place I'd think of if I'm craving a milk tea. I can't speak to the bubble waffle, it did look good though, so perhaps on another occasion I will give that a try.

Yelp
Still my go to spot for boba! Staff is still friendly and they now ask almost every time about app/rewards usage, so I'm updating this again because it's been very consistent! The drinks are very consistent as well. Sometimes though, the boba may be a liiiiittle hard in the center, but I think that may actually just be because I'm not consuming the drink right away so the boba may have hardened a bit from the cold drink. They've added more claw machines, which is pretty entertaining, and does take up more seating space. But I haven't had any issues getting seats when I come here. I've brought my little fur-baby in before (in a bag of course), as I've waited for my drink to be prepared, and staff were very friendly about it.

Yelp
Happy Lemon was a chain i briefly experienced up north and was glad to see them arrive to the area. In the mood for some boba, I stopped in. Lots of options, something for anyone to enjoy! The staff were very friendly and helpful trying to navigate the extensive menu. I settled on a pudding tea drink, figuring it would be more on the sweet side. It was not quite as I expected, being a very subtle flavor. It did not quite meet my sweet tooth needs but that was probably for the best. Overall, it's worth popping in when wanting to try one of the many drink options in the area! Pricing was not too high and the variety of flavors and quick service is much appreciated.

Yelp
This is a very cool spot to enjoy an amazing tea, slushy or any of their amazing liquid masterpieces. The staff is super friendly and the place is super cute and great for kids.
google avatar

Catherine M.

Yelp
Loved this! Drink was refreshing ( can't go wrong with mango!). Ladies behind the counter were so friendly and fun. Place is immaculate!!! I was impressed with their cleanliness. The cost is a little high, ($7.00 may be the norm?) but that is MY issue.
google avatar

Shay M.

Yelp
I got the original waffle with puff cream. The waffle was warm, crisp yet chewy, and light and paired well with the cream. It not being overly sweet was a plus. The servers were helpful as I was deciding on my order and the restaurant was clean. I definitely recommend giving this place a try.
google avatar

Anna T.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the concept here. They were having an anime/k-pop market when we happened to go which I thought was a cool idea. They have all sorts of bubble waffles that have different toppings. Just came in for a tea and got the mango passionfruit tea with tapioca boba. I am not sure what kind of seeds were in this tea, but they were so hard and crunchy I felt like I was going to break a tooth. The flavor of the tea was great and the sweetness was fine, but I actually had to strain the seeds out once I got home to make this edible. I would go back and try some other menu items, but this one needs to be modified.
google avatar

Kalani G.

Yelp
Happy Lemon has taken over this spot on Colonial and I couldn't be more upset that now there's another location to take my money. I've gone twice in a week. It's actually quite rude of them to expand.
google avatar

Yuchin C.

Yelp
Came here for the genshin collab. I got the Klee drink and asked for no whipped cream and 50% sugar. Ok the drink was good and I could taste the oolong but it was just too sweet for me! It came with toppings and the toppings made it even sweeter. I wish I knew the toppings would made it even sweeter so I can ask for 25% sugar or even 0% sugar. But would go again but next time 0-25% sugar level.

Yelp
Prefect !!!!!!!! 和纽约一摸一样 解馋了 牛逼 !!!!!!服务态度也很好 我真的不知道要说啥了 这个post 非要 我发85个字最少 反正就不错啦 哈哈

Yelp
Cute place in the mills area to hang out and grab a treat! I loved the milk tea with salted cheese top so delicious!
google avatar

Nhi B.

Yelp
One of my favorite boba spots! The brand is the originator of the Rock Salt Salted Cheese topping, so you know they're legit. Happy Lemon is located in the Phuoc Loc Tho Plaza. The parking lot is a bit tight, but I've always been able to find parking here. You'll find a super cute little boba shop in the corner of the plaza with the most adorable mascot you've ever seen. The tea here is flavorful and perfect for milk tea; they have tons of fruit teas as well. I also love how they prepare their boba; it's always perfectly sweet and has the right texture and chewiness. However, the thing you MUST GET here is the Original Waffle. They have flavor variations too, but the egg waffles they have here are the best in Orlando -- they're fluffy, soft, and chewy inside with the perfect crispy crunch on the outside. They're little golden bites of heaven.

Yelp
Popped in yesterday and so glad we did!! Absolutely phenomenal and refreshing boba tea. The quality and freshness of the drinks hit my tastebuds at once. It was so refreshing and delicious. I had a passionfruit lemon boba tea with the brown milk boba. Anthony had the honey green tea with lychee. Both drinks tasted of summer! We can't wait to come back sometime! Everyone was so kind. The vibes here are happy, fun, and warm.
google avatar

Ri M.

Yelp
Bubble waffle during first visit was crispy on the outside and fluff on the inside, soggy on second visit. The drinks are creamy and full in flavor. I tried the dragonfruit yakult smoothie and the roasted tea & I asked to switch to tiramisu cheese foam which I really enjoyed but I think I'ld stick with the salted cheese foam next time. Place not as packed as other places so I find this location a good place to hang out/chat over good cold tea or other drinks. Interested in trying out all their drinks, will be back and might be a regular here.

Yelp
I was thinking about getting Boba Tea and searched Yelp for a location near me! I'm so happy that Yelp directed me to this lovely, cheerful location! As I entered this space, the vibes were so sunny and bright! People were friendly and enjoying various table games. It's definitely a space where you and a friend could come just to take a break and have some refreshments. Games are provided, or you could bring your own game. I ordered a delicious Honey Lemon Green Tea drink and a very tasty bubble waffle! Both were delicious. I'd like to return to try other menu items because honestly, everything on the menu looked tasty.

Yelp
This is yet another excellent boba shop on Colonial! Although located just a tad bit farther away from some of the restaurants that I frequent in the area, this place benefits from slightly easier parking options. The drinks here are solid, with a lot of variety to choose from. People working here are super friendly and helpful and the ambiance is a mix of modern and cute, just what you would expect from a popular boba tea shop. Although the drinks are a little expensive, be sure to go when they have special events or promotions happening! I happened to go when they had a BOGO promotion, making the drinks extra worth it! The only minor downside to this location is that there is not a ton of seating. So come with a few friends, but just not more than 3 or 4 people. But overall, excellent place :)
google avatar

Elena C.

Yelp
Interested because this a chain boba store. Average boba. I got the Okinawa Tea with boba. The tapioca was hard to chew. The inside was spacious with a lot of seating. This place is well decorated. There are tabletop and arcade games as well! Free wifi and ample parking in a lot. I particularly like how they're open until 11pm. The service was friendly as well. Some of the tables are shakey, I wish those could be replaced. Would drop by if I am close, nothing too enthusiastic about.
google avatar

Makayla G.

Yelp
We ordered the ube smoothie, strawberry shortcake smoothie, and the Oreo bubble waffle with the salted cheese sauce. By far, this has been one of the best boba shop we've visited! The inside is very clean and nice, they even have tabletop games to play with! The workers were all very nice and gave us the recommendation of the salted cheese sauce, which was a great choice! The waffle was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the cheese sauce was like whipped cream cheese. The boba was cooked perfectly and the drinks were amazing! We typically order ube at other places, but this has taken the cake for the best we've ever had!
google avatar

Aleema R.

Yelp
On my random drive here is the second location I wanted to try. Upon arrival the decor is very ascetically appealing. Lots of yellow and lemon to go with the name. The service was pleasant, I went with the cookies and cream waffle with a side of cream, to drink I got a dragonfruit lemonade slush. The waffle was crispy and soft in the middle and paired with the cream. The slushy was very tart but refreshing. If you do not like lemon favors I would say, maybe skip this place but if you do like tart drink it's the place to go. Overall, I enjoyed myself and would return to try other items on the menu.
google avatar

Melissa N.

Yelp
5-stars for the most part. This place is a hit or miss with customer service. Sometimes we've walked in and have been greeted. Sometimes we've walked in and they're busy chatting amongst each other and then just turn to the register without greeting us or anything. So we just order right away. I usually get D11 or H1. And they're both pretty good for the most part. Sometimes I go elsewhere for brown sugar milk tea. Go where I can get greeted and the drinks are just as good if not better. Parking here is tight too when the little plaza is busy.
google avatar

MY V.

Yelp
Enjoy this little spot for some fresh Yakut lemon slushy, which is my favorite drink there. I also enjoy their fresh teas too. They offer many drink options as well as bubble waffle. Friendly staff and they always make the drink quickly. Plenty of tables to sit around and enjoy the atmosphere.
google avatar

Thuy N.

Yelp
Cute & modern boba spot on colonial. The employee gave me recommendations which I appreciated & the drinks came out quick as well! I got the Okinawa milk tea with 0% sugar because I don't like things too sweet. I thought it was the perfect level of sweetness because of the syrup that was already inside. There's a lot of boba spots in Orlando but I feel this one is apart of my top three.
google avatar

Brett H.

Yelp
Stopped in with some friends after Dazzling Lights at Harry P. Leu Gardens. We had never been, so we kindly asked for a crash course in their menu, and for some suggestions. Everyone was very friendly and happy to provide suggestions. I ordered an Oreo Milk tea and a Matcha Bubble Waffle with Puff Cream. These items were so delicious. I had never had a fancy milk tea like this. They put something inside the cup and then dust it with Oreo crumbs, then pour in the drink. It was so pretty and a nice sweet treat. The Matcha Waffle was very fun. The matcha flavor wasn't very noticeable, though. The puff cream for the waffle, wow!!! It is a sweat cream that is very fluffy and so flavorful. It pairied nicely with the Waffle and is pretty addictive. Yeah, it's that good. We will for sure stop in again when we are in the area.
google avatar

Brigitte L.

Yelp
Saw this on Yelp and added to my O-town wish list to visit. We were in the area so of course I had to stop. If there's tea at around I have to have it!! Just ask the hubs! I think my veins have tea running through them lol. The place is in a small plaza with shared parking. Getting into the lot was a bit of a wait given the traffic in the area. It's tucked away in the corner so don't miss it! Walking in, the place is so clean and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and aroma made it pleasing to the nose also. I got the grapefruit green tea with mango boba, no sugar. Hubs got the passionfruit mango green tea. I also got the jasmine green tea with salted cream for my SIL and BIL. My grapefruit tea I wanted to be a slush but they wouldn't make it a slush, I was told I had to order one of the slush drinks on the menu if I wanted a slush. So a bit disappointed but I got over it. My tea was good but the boba was crunchy! I didn't like this. Despite my drink not having sugar it was just the right amount of sweetness. Hubs drink was very good and my SIL drink was too sweet. I did opt for the 100% sweet on hers because the staff member said it wasn't too sweet to get it 100%.
google avatar

Cindy M.

Yelp
Came here on a boba promotion day, not a lot of people inside. Bathrooms were clean and the servers were attentive. The jasmine tea was good, decent tea flavor. The Apple tea was a bit sweet even with only 70% sweetness. I liked the crushed apple it was a nice addition. Parking is probably the most annoying about this place. Not bad overall and apparently every tues is but one get one 50% off.
google avatar

Nanami N.

Yelp
Tried the Happy Lemon x Genshin collab drink, Oreos & Sky cream, along with the limited edition Strawberry Matcha! Both were fun to try, but the flavors were just okay--not bad, but not mind-blowing either. The Cookies & Cream had a nice creamy texture, though it leaned a bit on the tea. The Strawberry Matcha was refreshing, but the flavors didn't blend as smoothly as we hoped. Still, the cute collab and limited-edition vibes made it worth the experience!

Duyen M.

Yelp
I have been this boba shop around 2 years, never complain but today after I drink my stomachache so bad, someone made it not clean enough, never happened to me before
google avatar

Anna L.

Yelp
Ok I'm obsessed. The new Happy Lemon just opened in my neighborhood and I'm pumped about it. Pretty sure a cute, smiley lemon could make just about anyone happy so the name alone just puts me in a good mood. The interior is crisp & clean with a few tables, faux lemon trees and a photo wall with a neon sign -- perfect for all your pics. The staff was super friendly and guided me through their extensive menu and suggested some of their most popular menu items. If you're a mango lover, you HAVE to get the mango yakult smoothie with the popping mango boba! I learned that Yakult is a Japanese sweetened probiotic milk -- it made this drink amazing! I also got the Oreo bubble waffle with the taro puff cream for dipping and omgahhh it was sooo good. That salted puff cream is really something. It was definitely the best bubble waffle I've ever had. The waffles do take a little bit longer to make (10-15 min) but totally worth the wait. I think I found my new guilty pleasure.
google avatar

Cheryl Emily B.

Yelp
I came here on a whim. It kind of called my name while I was driving by. You don't know what you're in for until you get a sip of this. I gambled on the passion fruit mango green tea regularly sugared. Obsessed - my two fav fruits in one! The passion fruit can be tasted on each sip with a hint of mango. It's a must try if you're debating on something sweet and worth it to quench your thirst. They have some other interesting things I'm eager to try next.

Yelp
If you want to be Happy go to Happy Lemon I love Happy Lemon and the restaurant chain that is connected to it. When you arrive the ambiance is adorable and the seating areas are very modern and the perfect place to study or hangout. The menu is very easy to read and they have LOTS of fruit and milk tea options. I got the mango green tea with lychee and it's was delicious! Everything is very clean and well organized which is so important to me when trying new restaurants. They are also connected to MochiBae and as well as a To Go Hibachi restaurant. So you can get dinner and dessert or even drinks, dinner and dessert all without leave to go somewhere else. The one thing that sucks is their parking, you'll most likely have to park in the plaza to the left of happy lemon as the one way to the right of the restaurant only has a few parking spots and it's often already full. I highly recommend this Boba/Tea place for an afternoon pick me up or to meet friends!
google avatar

Katie F.

Yelp
I actually stumbled upon this by accident; the lovely girl who works at the market next door actually recommended this place! I'm so glad she did; it's bright and colorful has a very positive ambiance. Plus the inside is yellow the color of happiness. There's a magnitude of seating inside; and tables to fit your needs. There's a counter as soon as you walk in so you can order. They e got food as well- I ordered the dragon fruit lemonade slush!! The lovely girl at the counter it was very patient with me when I told her I hadn't been here before - however some thing to catch my eye it was the lemonade and dragon. I got my order within about 5 to 10 minutes! I'm definitely coming back to try more!

Yelp
5/5 Absolutely LOVED it! Get the G3 C-L! Absolutely loved, great customer service! The wait time wasn't too long, it was perfect and refreshing!

Yelp
I am so excited Happy Lemon is finally open off of Colonial! The space is really wonderful and there are numerous tables available. The employees were fantastic and answered all of our questions about the different menu options. The drinks are made to order, but still came out very quickly! We ended up trying the Fresh Lemon Honey Green Tea with the whole blended lemon. The worker suggested we reduce the sugar to 50% and I am so glad she did! The drink was so tasty and definitely would have been really sweet with 100% of sugar. There is so much lemon flavor and the honey & green tea were fabulous with the lemon. There are no bits/chunks of lemon as they strain it before serving, but there is so much lemon flavor! Highly recommend this drink if you are a lemonade fan and want to try a unique spin on a classic tasting lemonade. We will definitely be back and look forward to trying more drinks, however the Fresh Lemon Honey Green Tea is definitely a winner!!
google avatar

Sheila E.

Yelp
Happy Lemon is incredibly consistent, quick, and friendly. Light, bright and clean. The lemon tea c4 is my go to, add lychee for some extra flavor. The roasted oolong is also delicious.
google avatar

Linh N.

Yelp
Yummy bubble tea near downtown Orlando. Would recommend to get the drinks at the 50% or 75% sugar level because it could be really sweet. I believe all the drinks only come in one size. You have to try the bubble waffles- crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Make sure you get the taro dip for the full experience! Our drinks were made pretty quickly and the staff were friendly. The inside is very spacious and looks new and clean. Tried the brown sugar milk tea, matcha mango, and mango passion fruit this time. Would come back to try the other drinks!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by here on a very warm Saturday for the first time. The store is in the corner of a Plaza on east colonial drive, and has a good bit of seating. We really liked the cool art pieces on the inside. As for the drink itself, we absolutely loved them. I had a honey lemonade with lychee jelly which was so refreshing and delicious! It was made very fast as well. Can't wait to swing by and get another drink here again some other time!
google avatar

Jasmin T.

Yelp
I've always loved coming to Happy Lemon whenever I crave for milk tea! I recently found out about their flavor Oreo milk tea and I've been obsessed! I absolutely love that they use real fruits for their fresh tea! Service is always fast and staff are always respectful!
google avatar

Jackie P.

Yelp
I typically come out happy with the drinks from Happy Lemon. I decided to try their seasonal drink which was a nice treat. Thanks to the staff's recommendation, I got what I expected. The atmosphere here is pretty laid back and chill. I also enjoy their puff cream as my typical drinks as well. It's worth trying out!
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
A lot of lemon based drinks (go figure), but my favorites are the roasted milk teas. They are delicious! Their egg waffles are delicious and sweet. There's plenty of seating inside and spacious so you don't feel like you're sitting next to strangers as socialize with your group. The staff is friendly and helpful with any questions you might have. The loyalty program is nice too, I like collecting stamps and earning free drinks.
google avatar

Jennine K.

Yelp
I love happy lemon!! I ordered the yogurt lemon and the matcha egg waffle. the drink is perfectly sweet and tart, and the waffle is huge I ended up sharing it with 2 friends. service was quick and friendly, and the location is bright and clean.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious drinks, great service, and guaranteed to satisfy your craving! Came at the end of the night and the owner even gave us fresh fruit cups!! Our go to drink is Yakult Lemon Slushy with lychee jelly!
google avatar

Ut N.

Yelp
After grabbing some groceries nearby, we stopped by to indulge in our favorite HK bubble waffle and green tea cheese salt to start our Super Fun Sunday. Our drinks arrived promptly, as refreshing and high-quality as always. The perfectly cooked bubble waffle was served shortly after, and each bite dipped in cheese salt was incredibly satisfying. We enjoyed our treats while engaging in a game of Connect Four and listening to KPOP music.
google avatar

Tracy H.

Yelp
This place is so cute! It's very clean too so that's a plus. The drinks were very tasty and the salted cheese on top of the green tea was perfect. I was hoping for it to be a tad sweeter but if you don't like too sweet this is perfect for you. The service was standard so I'm not too stressed about that. But if you're in the area this is a good quick pick me up.

Yelp
Nestled where the old Gong Cha used to be, I may have died and went to Boba heaven. Priced super reasonably for Orlando Boba prices nowadays at about $6-7 for a large and arguably one of the best Boba in town makes for a slam dunk. They have options for puff cream, unique rock salt cream cheese foam, Hong Kong bubble waffles, Boba, and their iconic lemon slashes. I've tried four different drinks already since their opening two weeks ago and every single item was high quality and super tasty. Sugar is on the higher end so you can easily go to a 50% with no taste reduction especially with an added topping. The Boba was perfectly cooked and QQ, almost musky caramel in flavor. The rock salt cheese foam was excellent on a roasted Okinawa green tea and had a smooth salty sweet mixture. Tea flavor is strong the way I love it and their grapefruit lemon slush was a pucker punch in the best way for the Florida heat! 100% will be back every weekend for the quality and value. It's a bit hard to see from the road, so drive slowly to turn in. Pro tip, leave from the backside of the parking lot so you don't have to turn directly into Hwy 50 traffic.

Jami M.

Yelp
This place is so cheerful! You cannot be sad inside. We tried the chocolate bubble waffle which got two thumbs up from my son. It's crispy on the outside and cakes inside of each bubble. We added a cup of taro cream for dipping. It was lavender colored and delicious! To drink we shared a Strawberry milk tea with fresh strawberry topping. With was sweet but not too sweet. Consistency was like a thin milkshake. The seating was comfortable and well spaced out. They also have a stack of board games available to while away the day. All in all, I highly recommend Happy Lemon for a sweet and tasty mood boost.

Torrey K.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in The downtown Orlando area. The teas are amazing and the milk teas or very rich and creamy especially with the addition of their puff cream or salted cheese. The service is also excellent and the store has a minimalistic and quaint atmosphere.
