The 8 Best Crawfish Restaurants In Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"Located inside of a large Cedar Park shopping plaza, Happyrito is one of the few spots in the Austin area specializing in Viet-Cajun crawfish. So after you’re done shopping for new bed sheets, video games, and sneakers, you can stop in for a few pounds of the good stuff, all tossed in a sweet and spicy Viet-Cajun-style buttery garlic sauce that will leave your fingers smelling like crawfish for hours. The crawfish here isn’t cooked with the same level of expertise you might get out of an old-school Louisiana meat market or restaurant, but the heavy seasoning on the outside adds enough flavor that it feels like a welcome compromise." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs

Google
Wanted a little Seafood the other day. My son and I found this hidden gem. Everything about this place is awesome. We knew we had come to the right place when you couldn't even get in the door. It is a very small restaurant with limited seating, but well worth it. I saw take out after takeout going out the door. The seasoning on all the food is superb and the shrimp is out of this world. As is the fish and chicken wings. Everything came out fresh & hot. Highly highly suggest this place!!

Google
The top crawfish in the area and best deal you’ll probably ever get! $88.88 for 10 lbs of freshly made crawfish. They also just dropped their ‘per lb’ price to $10.95/lb which is the cheapest it’ll be this season. Choose from three flavors, but we love it drenched in their incredible viet Cajun sauce (signature happy style). 5 lbs was a good amount for 3 people. We also enjoyed the gumbo and fried fish basket too. Lots of parking in their shared plaza parking lot.

Google
Ordered the happy boil with garlic butter. There was no lack of garlic flavor, the seafood was absolutely doused in minced garlic. Came with spicy mayo and more butter. Sausage was peppery and snappy. Potatoes and eggs dipped in the sauce, chef’s kiss. Snow crab meat tender and absorbed all the garlic butter goodness. Shrimp was a bit overcooked. Good portion for two. A bit pricey for the amount you get.

Google
It's probably some of the best crawfish in the area. They have a pretty extensive menu that whatever we tried was pretty good. We ordered some of the mushrooms with the Crawfish and I will say that the Crawfish is not salty. Their boil actually gets into the meat of the Crawfish so there's no need to add any additional seasoning on top to make it more salty which is something that I'm used to and other places try to do other things to add some flavor. The fried fish is actually flounder, if you're expecting catfish or some other fish, I would encourage you to be pleasantly surprised of their choice of fish. I personally prefer flounder over catfish. The margarita that I had was super strong which is definitely what I was going for. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area and it is crawfish season.

Definitely would come back!! Packed with bold Cajun flavor, these crawfish are juicy, spicy, and perfectly seasoned. Every bite is a delicious, messy adventure

Google
Food is Amazing always with Hella Spicy just there is a room of service can be better for dine in experiences; instead of ordering all through QR and tip up front, can be opened tap and service more. i bet I will be tipping more than what being forced to tip when placing the order.

Google
TOP tier crawfish, had my lips tingling with the hella spicy and happy style, so SAVORY. The flavors are absolutely immaculate. 5/5 customer service, long queue to get in, but they took good care of me, even let me stay an extra 15 mins past close to finish up food! Be extra courteous and tip them well!

Google
Best crawfish I’ve had in Austin!! So delicious from gumbo all the way to the lychee milk tea. The owner needs to look into getting some support for the amazing wait staff, because those girls are busy! Amazing service and food. Will be back again.

Yelp
This was to die for!!! See the pics below for how amazing this still looked after a 20 minute drive home. Chicken wings were juicy, tender, and high in flavor. Fries were crispy and bun delicious! I'll be back!

Yelp
It's a clean establishment. The food was very visually appealing although we selected a flavor that wasn't suitable for us. We got a happy mix that is a mix of all the flavors. It wasn't terrible we stilled finished our food but definitely think the authentic would've been a lot better as someone who does really like garlic with crawfish. We also got the spicy and it wasn't very spicy but still good. Service was good, no complaints. They provide gloves and bib which I think is nice.

Yelp
You must come here when you are craving seafood boil! I've been eyeing this place on IG for a while and I'm soooo glad I came out to try it out. When you walk in, you can either order at the front or sit down and order on your phone. We sat down and ordered on the phone which was pretty easy. We ordered the Taiwanese chicken, asada fries, and 2 happy boils. For drinks we did their micheladas, mango passion fruit tea, and lychee berry lemonade. Drinks and food came out quickly. The drinks were amazing. The chicken was so crispy and juicy. I liked that it was mostly chicken not breading. 10/10! The asada fries were really good too. Great seasoned and crispy thick fries and a good scoop of meat. 8.5/10! The seafood boils... wowww! We ordered them extra hot but it wasn't that spicy, more like a good kick. I loved that the sauce had chunks of garlic. I eat my seafood boils at a pretty good rate but I guess it was too slow/dining room was cold cause the butter did solidified before I was able to finish(my only complaint). I guess it was because the container it came in rather than the typical bags other restaurants serve. However, other than that, I really enjoyed it. There was a good amount of meat in the snow crab cluster and the shrimp were nice and juicy so I felt like I got my moneys worth:). Staff were very nice. Although there aren't really servers, they made sure we were fine when food was brought out and were kind to ask if we needed anything additional. They also bussed finished plates out the way as food came out. I must come back. Literally the best place for sea food boil I've come across in Austin.

Yelp
The most delicious Viet Cajun crawfish at the most reasonable price in the city!!! The crawfish is big, fresh, and juicy. They have the special option of 10lbs crawfish at $88.88 with just crawfish and 2 sauces, no other fixings. Fixings are available for purchase for this option. I've tried both sauces: happy sauce (I believe it's their signature one) and garlic butter, and garlic butter is my favorite! If you can't handle any spice, go for mild. If you like a nice kick of heat, go for medium. Bibs and gloves are available upon request. You can also ask for a pair of seafood scissors to cut the shells, but where's the fun in that?! They also serve drinks like cocktails, boba tea, fruit tea, and other seafood options like shrimp, crab, etc, but I'm always here for the crawfish. Cut your nails, tie your hair, and enjoy the full experience of delicious, buttery, and garlicky crawfish!

Yelp
This was a good place for dinner. Definitely a "small" business. The place probably seats no more than 40-ppl... including bar seating. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food was very good. A bit pricey, but good value overall.

Yelp
The staffs are very friendly and helpful and most of all food is good. It si family friendly ambience and would recommend it to family and friends.

Yelp
Title: A Seafood Delight at Happyrito: Crispy, Fresh, and Entertaining Happyrito proved to be a seafood lover's paradise with its impeccably fried shrimp and flounder. Each bite boasted a perfect crispiness, while maintaining a fresh and delicious taste that left me craving more. The red beans and rice were slamming! Despite the bustling crowd, I managed to snag a seat at the bar, where I could witness the impressive teamwork of the understaffed but dedicated front-of-house team. Despite the challenges, the trio running the front of the house went above and beyond to entertain the customers and ensure that everyone's food arrived promptly after being cooked. It was a testament to their commitment to excellent service and hospitality. As I savored the delightful flavors of my seafood feast, I couldn't resist indulging in a mango margarita, which proved to be the perfect accompaniment. The drink was not only delicious but also refreshing, with generous pieces of mango adding a delightful twist to each sip. Overall, my experience at Happyrito was nothing short of amazing. From the delectable seafood dishes to the entertaining atmosphere and impeccable service, it was a dining experience to remember. I'm already looking forward to my next visit, eager to explore more of their enticing menu offerings.

Yelp
I had an absolutely amazing time at HappyRito! From the warm and welcoming staff to the lively and upbeat music, everything was just perfect. And oh, the food was simply out of this world! I particularly loved the crawfish dish - it was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. In fact, I'm already looking forward to my next trip to the area just so I can visit HappyRito again and savor every item on the menu. It was truly a send-off to remember!

Yelp
I came here with a friend for dinner and we both left super happy and full. We got the happy boil with mild spice and added 1/2 a pound of shrimp to it. I wasn't a fan of having hard boiled eggs in the boil, I wish there was another piece of corn or potato instead. I also got a mango margarita which was really yummy and strong. The service was great, we got our food pretty fast and the servers were nice. The restaurant itself was a little small but pretty nice inside with decent seating.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night with family and immediately got seated! We ordered crawfish and a few other sides. The crawfish was fresh and flavorful! The Mac n cheese was a bit pricey for the amount but also pretty yummy. They give you bibs and really sturdy gloves. It's a seat yourself kind of place and got busy around 8pm. I didn't think I'd find crawfish in Austin but definitely would come back again!
google avatar

Yelp
Visited happy rito with high expectations to match the favor and overall delicious impact that their crawfish can have. They certainly exceeded expectations. Great service, clean eating area, and the food was phenomenal. 3 lbs of crawfish that were the definition of finger licking good. In the top two of my favorite places for crawfish in Austin area. Highly recommend. Great happy hour deals as well!

Yelp
I probably ordered Crawfish from here through UberEats every other weekend during Crawfish season, so at least 10+ times last year. 8 out of 10 times, the crawfish is delicious, fresh, all the stars. Their house seasoning is great, spice level is reasonable. And all other boils were great. Downside is that for some reason the crawfish sporadically disappears on the UberEats menu, or gets cancelled. And toward the end of the season last year, I got a batch that were just sad, small and mushy. Recommendation is to call the restaurant to ask if they have fresh crawfish, and if they're running out. So far the folks picking up the phone to answer my question have been honest. Hope it stays that way.

Yelp
Very good fried food. Fresh, hot and flavorful for sure. Pass by here a lot since I'm in the plaza to grab various things so ordered some food to go this time. Tawainese popcorn chicken is a great appetizer. Chunks of chicken with the salt and pepper seasoning take you back to night markets in taiwan. A bit odd with the ranch, but if you just eat it straight, it's great. We also tried a soft shell crab basket which was amazing. Perfectly fried cornmealed soft shell crab with tartar sauce, remoulade and garlic butter dipping options, the best of which was the straight butter. The garlic parmesan fries here are also insanely crispy and flavorful. Cajun fried oktra to complete the fried trinity is also unique - love the seasoning and light kick. Salad and roll are nothing special but appreciate it. Only gripe: all the pictures I see have three soft shell crabs per order and we only got two. Guess inflation is real...still, that basket is plenty of food. All that said, they also got lots of other interesting food options, so definitely want to come back for some boils or poboys.

Yelp
I fell in love with crawfish in Texas, and it breaks my heart to say, but to be transparent, this was the worst crawfish I've ever had in my life and I was completely disappointed because we were visting from out of state and made the drive out from downtown Austin and I was looking forward to this, saving it as my last meal for Austin... (I'm not a picky eater, I even like frozen crawfish in all types of sauce and this was just...bad). Especially seeing all the hype around social media, I was let down. Ordered ths 3LBS fresh crawfish with the vietnamese cajun sauce. I kept thinking maybe it was my specific order, maybe this is how fresh crawfish offseason is supposed to be, I kept looking at my order comparing it to other people's extremely confused. Should I have ordered the frozen? CRAWFISH: Smallest crawfish ever (can't tell through the pictures), and maybe because its not in season? That wasn't the main issue. My crawfish was MUSHY. Straight MUSH, difficult to peel, the shells of my boil were squishy. I had probably 3 decent pieces that didn't mush. I thought is this how fresh crawfish is supposed to be? I ended up just eating it (confused) because being from out of state didn't know if this was normal or not. VIETNAMESE CAJUN (HAPPY) SAUCE: I love a good asian fusion, and this was terribly and.uncomfortably salty it ruined the flavor of the crawfish. I love fish sauce, all sauces, but this felt like I was drinking pure fish sauce while trying to enjoy the head of the crawfish. Did they overcook it because it was in this sauce? I kept thinkng maybe it was my issue because I ordered it with this sauce- I don't know. GARLIC NOODLES: I love garlic noodles! Never had any issues with a single garlic noodle dish until I came here. How do you mess up garlic noodles? This salty, uncomfortable taste was overbearing the garlic noodles and I couldn't even taste the garlic... at that point I was over it and didnt take a picture of the noodles I left really disappointed. As a big foodie, looking forward to this crawfish experience, this was the most disappointing meal.

Yelp
Super nice folks. Inside of the place is nothing fancy. Actually far from it, but you can do everything you need to there like eat, drink, use the restroom, wash your hand and watch TV....and bubble Tea. The food itself is pretty good. I'd say even a bit above average. The staff is super cool and friendly. This is what sets them apart. Worth checking out!
google avatar

Christina L.

Yelp
I think the food is pretty good but a bit expensive for what you get. It's pretty standard seafood boil and good if you want some if you are close by.
google avatar

Jeff E.

Yelp
Wow, what a nice surprise!! We were in the mood for some crawfish and I really haven't had much in the area that have been impressive. That has changed! Ordered 5 lbs of their authentic style via DoorDash and the crawfish arrived hot. Excellent flavor - we opted for the "spicy" level of spice bomb and that turned out to be perfect. They clearly let the crawfish soak after cooking and I've been searching for a place that does this! Can't wait to order again, highly recommend and true crawfish lovers order from here. Will try their happy style next time.
google avatar

Michaela J.

Yelp
Fast service and good food! I used to live in New Orleans, so I appreciate good seafood and sides! I tried the shrimp and fish combo with fries. I like the addition of the side salad and rolls too.
google avatar

Leila L.

Yelp
I went with a group of five and ordered from our table. We ended up ordering two 5 lbs crawfish boils and 2 lbs of shrimp. Probably could have eaten more but it was sufficient for us 5. We tried the happy style and cajun style for the crawfish. I think we preferred the happy as the cajun seemed too dry? We made it mild but looking back adding some spicy would have made it better. Eventually we tried to combine the happy style with cajun with our leftovers and it worked out well! For the shrimp, we ordered the same two styles but there must have been a mixup because they looked and tasted the same (happy style). I don't eat crawfish too often, but for some reason it seems a little pricier here, or the portions seemed off. Overall the crawfish was fresh and large! I'd like to come back and try the fried food.

Jimmy H.

Yelp
Love the crawfish (garlic and butter). Will come back again in the future. The seasoning is just right for the crawfish.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Update: So I went back for the crawfish and while they were smaller (it's still early in the season) they made sure none were dead. I also tried the soft shell crab basket and it was delicious!!! The ginger dressing I got for the salad was soooo good! They need to jar that and sell it lol This is for sure my new favorite spot for crawfish
google avatar

Cinzia L.

Yelp
Y'all run don't walk! This place has the most delicious seafood. Fresh! Hot! Tasty! The shrimp basket was on point. Flavorful, filling and the garlic butter side makes it even top notch! The fish basket is flounder so it's some of the flakiest fish. I'll definitely be back.

Katrina R.

Yelp
My husband has been wanting to try and we finally went in and had no complaints. Great food, reasonable time wait and the service was great; the front of the house Jorge was friendly and the rest of the staff as well! Will be back!
google avatar

Cam H.

Yelp
I love the Asian flavoring here! Garlic butter crawfish was really good. Would love to come back to try their fried dishes as well. Crawfish wasn't too salty, which I liked. The garlic butter seasoning had a good blend of salty, sour and sweet taste. You can order your food at the front cashier desk and they bring it out to you. Very good service. It's a casual vibe inside, nothing fancy. Very low-key and chill. Food came out quick :)
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
When someone ask you what your favorite time of year is, what do you tell them? Thanksgiving? Christmas? The right answer is Crawfish season baby!! And Happy Rito does it right! Let's break it down: Food: They have a diverse menu of seafood ranging from fried to boiled shrimp, crab, crawfish, oysters, etc. We did 6 pounds of crawfish with the happy seasoning and 6 pounds of crawfish with the Cajun seasoning. You won't find a better meal without heading down to New Orleans. Service: You order at the front counter and they bring it to your table. Easy peezy. Ambiance: Not a ton of tables. If you're coming in during prime time, you might be waiting for a bit. Comfortable enough but nothing fancy.
google avatar

Madeline M.

Yelp
Will definitely be back! I absolutely loved it. So glad to have found a seafood restaurant in north Austin to have fresh crawfish. So easy to peel. My husband is a very picky eater and said this was the best crawfish he's ever had.

Yelp
It's delicious, highly recommended . The delivery service is excellent & my last delivery person was very friendly. 02/13/2024

Yelp
Delicious food! Crawfish is the Best I've had in Austin . Lots of seafood baskets. The fries foods have a nice crunch and all the sides were seasoned well
google avatar

Yelp
Not only was the crawfish very good , staff was super friendly. We like to try new places when it comes to crawfish. How else can you compare it to other places . So far this place is great and Willis Grill & Ice house in Georgetown
google avatar

Shannon O.

Yelp
I was hankering for some mudbugs...that were "saucy" and these folks are from south Louisiana, but are serving up a cajun-asian fusion that was just really delicious. They were pricy for 3lbs...but it was earlier in the season...if the price has dropped I may be back.
google avatar

Steven L.

Yelp
Came here for the 10lb crawfish special to-go for $88.88, which is actually a great deal for Austin crawfish! We got two different flavors, the viet garlic and butter style and the happy style. The bags didn't come labeled but one clearly had more spices and seasoning and after looking up what was in the happy sauce, it was clear that the happy sauce was the winner here. It can be difficult to find quality crawfish in Austin, but my family really loved the flavor on the crawfish here. We used the extra juice/sauce to boil some potatoes and corn instead of opting to pay extra for it. Did not disappoint. I would definitely come here again for crawfish, although their other seafood offerings sound pretty good as well!

Yelp
I was craving for viet Cajun crawfish and was googling places that offer that around Austin area... And HappyRito Seafood popped up. This restaurant have been open for about 1 year. When entering the establishment you are immediately greeted by staff. You can order at the bar area or you can self seat and scan the bar code to place an order on the app and pay on your phone. It's your choice. The first time I came here I did the self seat and order by QR code. We had ordered the 2 Strawberry limeade, The works basket, BS1: Shrimp and snow crab legs in happy style mild & BS4 3lbs of crawfish in happy style mild. We had went in February time and the crawfish to our amaze was decent size. There was a mix of big and small but mostly decent size. We were blow away with how tasty the Works basket which consisted of fried fish and shrimp! It was crispy and oh so freaking good! I love that it came with red beans and rice which was so flavorful!! BS1 and BS4 was both amazing and the flavor was so good! That Viet cajun with the garlic was amazing! It reminded me of what u loved and preferred! The only down side is the mild is SUPER Spicy and does not hold true to "Mild" level. It's more like medium spicy . I died eating it but still ate it because it was so good and addicting. The shrimp, crawfish, and snow crab was cooked perfectly! The potatoes was good too and the corn was hella spicy! The sausage was ok and went well with potatoes! The gumbo was amazing and Smokey Cajun flavor of everything that reminded me of Lousiana goodness! The strawberry limeade was refreshing and enjoyable. I love it all! Now on to second time dining in March. We ordered 2 Shrimp basket, BS4: 3 lbs of crawfish and added sausage and potatoes in Happy style and explain last time mild was too too spicy and if it's possible to have it very mild, gumbo, strawberry lychee limeade, and strawberry limeade. The shrimp basket was on point and exactly how we had it our first time. The shrimp was large and crispy and perfectly fried/seasoned. It wasn't oily and everything was good! The drinks were delicious and refreshing and not overly sweet. Definitely will order the strawberry lychee again. Gumbo was amazing as always and the flavor is consistent with how I tried it for the first time! The BS4: I think because i had ask them please tone down the spice level it made the crawfish a little bland and didn't quite hit "Mild" for mild spice. I also notice there was a couple bug crawfish on top but majority was very small like my pinky. I was shocked because I felt in February the crawfish given was bigger and now in March closer to crawfish season the crawfish got smaller... not sure what happened but i don't think the crawfish should be served if it's pinky finger size because there's not meat in them and it's not worth the price paid. I am hoping that was just a flute because I really loved this Viet Cajun place. Do I recommend this place? Yes give it a try! So far this is the only viet Cajun place i know of near Austin! :) there's shrimp basket, red bean rice, and gumbo is totally worth it!

Yelp
I'm from New Orleans so this place had a high bar to win my approval and they did. My wife got the crawfish and it was really good. The Asian infusion of it was a bit unique to me but I loved it. The buttery sauce it was covered in was great. The shrimp was good and the Cajun fries were delicious. I am happy that austin has a place here in the city that can capture the essence of New Orleans in their food. I will be a frequent visitor.

Yelp
I've been on the lookout for great crawfish in the Austin area, and last year I found HappyRito. My first visit, crawfish were not in season so I went with the shrimp and crab boil - spicy but flavorful and not just on the outside. HappyRito boils in the traditional cajun way and it shows in the food! I went back last week to get crawfish and I was so happy I did. I ordered 3lb's of crawfish that came with potato and corn - I added some sausage and that was the perfect amount! Their crawfish comes in three styles - Happy (their signature preparation with lots of delicious garlic), Authentic Cajun and Garlic Butter. I got authentic cajun but my friends got happy style - I enjoyed both but highly recommend the cajun because you just get all of the traditional cajun flavor without all of the garlic. Don't get me wrong, I love garlic but I prefer my crawfish more traditionally prepped. Pro tip: Order a side of happy butter to dip the tails in. Thank me later :)

Yelp
Crawfish was fresh and amazing' only down fall you have to order Aleast 3 pounds or 5 pounds. Great flavor. Spicy was not over broad. The appetizer I did not like ! Big chucks of octopus. Tasted horrible.

Yelp
Came here on Saturday 3/4/23 for the first time. Primarily came for the crawfish, which were thankfully only $10/lb. Their social media hypes it up way more than it tasted. I got their house sauce + spicy. There was zero spice to it sadly, and the flavor was lacking. My biggest complaint is the lack of sauce it came with. Even in a foil bin, there wasn't enough on the bottom to dip my mudbugs in. Make sure you ask for either extra sauce or a side of dipping sauce, that was my mistake. Also, they were barely warm and got cold very fast. They were decent medium sizes at least with a few large ones in the batch. Also, I would prefer a bucket to toss the shells in rather than trying to fit 3 giant trash tins at a booth with a party of 3 of us. Definitely wouldn't fit if there were 4 of us. Oh, and the sausage is trash. It's the super cheap kind that they toss in last minute so it's cold and rubbery - do not pay extra for it. Also asked for an extra crab cluster, and they brought it out separately versus just tossing it in with the crawfish as I prefer. Assuming you would just need to ask them to do this if you prefer it like this as well (more table room too since it's limited). My partner got the crab boil + shrimp. The crab was overcooked and sticking to the shell. The shrimp was good, they weren't stingy on the garlic butter which was nice to dip in. I stole her sauce to dip my crawdads in to give them some flavor. One of the things that bothered me was their host who took our order. You could barely hear him talk I had to ask him to repeat what he said multiple times. He also got super confused when I was trying to order their lychee berry margarita. He kept saying limeade and I told him 3x the Margarita, then he continued to ask what flavor when I told him lychee berry. It was like he didn't know that was an option. So, they ended up bringing me both drinks out when I just ordered one. Mistakes happen...but what bothered me the most about this is I asked the guy who brought the drink out if that drink was showing on my tab, and he never answered me. Instead of doing the right thing and making sure I was not charged for that, they just let it be. I had to ask another lady for my itemized recipe to fix this, which they did, but it's the fact I had to go out of my way versus them just doing it when they knew it was an error on their end. Also, I don't understand if we are dining in why our drinks came in to-go cups? The photos they advertise show their frozen drinks with no lids and with toppings on the rim. That is what I was expecting and was let down. Ultimately not worth the drive to Cedar Park. It's really small inside with not much space to sit and no patio. Deckhands still blow their crawfish out of the water.

Yelp
Horrible service, no one talked to us for 10 minutes when we sat down and they had 3 workers just standing around the bar. It wasn't till after I spoke up they said to order through the app. Would of been good to know from the beginning! Didn't get to try the food, we left right away.

Yelp
I came out here for some Viet Cajun Crawfish with a friend and this place is probably the best in the Austin Area. However, the low star rating is more due to the lack of service. I'm not sure if it was because it was an off day for them on a Tuesday night or because they limit interaction through SKU code ordering, but I sat myself down waiting for my friend and wasn't even offered water until I asked for it. Regarding the quality of the Crawfish, I'd say that everything is fresh, and the seasoning is the best I've had. Everything food and drink wise is excellent, but the service makes this rating go down for me.

Yelp
Food: 4.8 stars We ordered the BS1 Happy Boil that came with snow crab, shrimp, sausage, potato, corn, melted butter, some kind of mayo based sauce, and a cup of gumbo, the BS4 Crayfish Boil-- both boils in Spicy/Happy Style, the strawberry lemonade and the lychee jasmine tea with chia seeds. This was a good amount of food for 2 people for a late post work out lunch just to be barely uncomfortably full. Despite it not being in the full swing of crayfish season, we got some the size of baby lobsters in there, which was nice. I usually can't eat super spicy, so this was a nice level of spice (I'd say tamer than sriracha). The food was sosososo good though I would say that the shrimp was a wee overcooked. The drinks are really good though I would say the lychee jasmine tea was a little sweet for my preference, but it was nice to have after a big meal. Service: 4.5 stars Nice baseline level of hospitality though I do appreciate the bibs and the heavier duty plastic gloves. I wish we were offered scissors for the crab, but that's on me for not reading instructions. Venue:4 stars Plenty of parking since HappyRito is located in an outdoor shopping area. There's some unsettling decals of shellfish with teeth that kind of freak me out, but that's just me nitpicking. Not the largest venue-- the bar/cashier is located in the center of the restaurant, so there's a lack of standing room if you're waiting in line to order. there's a decent amount of seating with some tables, like 2-3 booths, and bar seating. I wouldn't recommend it for parties larger than 6 unless you don't mind getting cozy with your folks. Lots of natural light without the annoying sun glaring at ya, which is nice. Would I come back? Absolutely! I'd say this place is a high 4 on my list.

Yelp
While in town, we had tried for a crawfish boil at a local bar but they ran out super quick, so our local friends brought us to HappyRito. They had been there previously and said it was good so we were excited to check it out. It's tough to get crawfish in Michigan as they're considered invasive to the Great Lakes, so it's rare to have crawfish boils where we're from. Needless to say, we'd been anticipating some crawfish while visiting Texas! The location is in a bit of a strip mall area and didn't have a ton of seating, but we got lucky with the last few seats at one side of the bar. They had no outdoor seating when we were there in March 2022, so be prepared to wait for a seat or take your food to go. They told us when we went to order that it would be about 30 minutes for food, which was fine. The minimum order for crawfish was three pounds, which Nate and I split. We got it mild with the happy seasoning, which I think is a combination of Cajun and garlic butter. They sell soju and beer, we tried some strawberry soju that was delicious. I also ordered a cup of gumbo. The staff was all friendly but they were super slammed. I could see they had to turn off online ordering for awhile when we were there. They give you plastic gloves and bibs which is great as crawfish can be a bit messy and the scent can linger from the spices! We finally got our food after the quoted 30 minutes and we dug in. The crawfish were definitely on the small side, but it was early in the season so probably later in the spring they would be bigger. The flavor was great - not super salty, nicely spiced but with no heat, and a lot of garlic flavor. The cup of gumbo was pretty small, but the portion had a lot of sausage and the flavor was great. We'd come back again!

Yelp
I ordered Ubereat. The portions are pathetic. Flavoring is off as all you taste is salt. Ridiculous price little food and quality offered. So disappointing!

Yelp
This is our favorite crawfish in the austin area and when it in season, the crawfish is super fresh and the garlic butter and happy style add a lot of flavor. The drinks are really good, especially the lychee drinks. Our favorite appetizer is the crab egg rolls. Their shrimp is so big and cooked really well. Everything is seasoned perfectly! The crawfish this time was a little small but I know it's early in the season. The service is always super nice and helpful.

Yelp
Super excited that HappyRito opened up. I've been looking for an Asian-Cajun crawfish restaurant for awhile, and this might be my go-to this crawfish season. Their flavors are pretty flavorful, but not very spicy. Given that it's still early in the crawfish season, the mud bugs were a bit small. Hopefully they'll get bigger as the season continues. Unlike a lot of other Cajun boil restaurants, HappyRito is very clean and decorated in a trendy fashion. There is also a wide selection of alcoholic beverages (including soju!) and non-alcoholic beverages (thai tea to limeades). Very friendly servers and food came out very quickly as well. They provide you with both gloves and bibs! The only con is that you have to get a minimum of 3lbs of crawfish so make sure you come with a big appetite or a friend. Can't wait to come back soon!

Yelp
First impression review, crawfish flavor was solid, garlicky, buttery and lime-y. Season is just starting this year so the crawfish is still on the small side. Came out steaming hot, just the way I like it!. Will give it a few more weeks for larger crawfish and come back for more Can we talk about their soft shell crab platter please?!! OMGAHHHH 3 whole fried soft shell crab with a small salad and fries. Crab tasted so fresh and sooo satisfying if you love soft shell crab like I do. Happiness in every bite, it was not overly battered. So good! Also got a some gumbo, it wasn't bad, though I'm not a gumbo snob so my words may not mean much. My friend loved her lychee strawberry frozen margarita. The food came out in take out containers even though we said dine in, it was a bit weird. Plenty of parking in this plaza.

Yelp
Love the happy style boils here! So sad they were out of crawfish but I guess you know how it's good Hoping they can stay prepared because its crawfish season but the snow crab and shrimp was perfectly cooked. Easy to peel, not overboiled Fries were ok and the bread was ok, but soft shell crab was very meaty and yummy :) Customer service is really good, they checked on us often even though its not a waiter around. You order at the front and pay at the front first then can go sit down, its very laidback. Def recommend getting anyone of the limeades here

Yelp
Best crawfish in Austin, hands down. My friend introduced me to HappyRito, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. Their crawfish quality and seasonings are on a different level, and everything looks so fresh and delicious. It's a bit on the more pricy end because they charge for everything from sauce to sides, but it's completely worth it. I love how clean the establishment looks because its competitors are quite dingy-feeling. Their special sauce is so yummy, and their butter sauce is also good! They serve Asian-inspired drinks like mango lychee, so I want to come back and try it sometime!

Yelp
The food is good the crab is tasty and everything seems to be fresh . Everything on the menu is served in to go plates which isn't so bad but when you order the crab boil you don't get plates or any bucket to disregard your shells like most places give you . This isn't a deal breaker but does make it extremely difficult to enjoy simply because you are either having to pile the shells back into the to go tin your trying to eat out of since you don't get plates or you have to pile the shells on the table and then constantly stand up to throw them alway to make room before you crack open some more claws. This little dance makes it a sub par experience because it's already a self serve restaurant and the very least they could do is give you plates and or a bucket . Let's assume this is me just being fancy all you want boohoo rite. Imagine 4 adults eating out of a to go tin in the center of a already small table with shells and butter all over the place , it's just uncomfortable . Another thing that is frustrating is that the boil we ordered came with a choice of butter so we asked for the HappyRito butter mix which is butter garlic and spices all in one and when the boil came to the table it looked like maybe a couple table spoons full of the sauce was on top of middle of the crab claw not even covering the shrimp and the rest of the entire boil was bone dry . Not only that but I ordered two extra crab claws for $15 each and they don't include butter or any kind of sauce apparently. They charged me something like another 2 dollars each for garlic butter to use on the extra $30 worth of crab. They are a bit skimpy and overpriced in my opinion but hey everybody is different and is willing to pay for things at higher prices than I am so to each their own . The food is good like I said in the beginning , it's the lack of service the overpriced menu and the fact they don't even wipe tables down or throw out the trash till it's literally spilling over the edge that turned me off . Especially when I'm in the middle of eating crab and have to push the trash down to compress it so my small shells fit without spilling onto the floor then wash my hands every ten minutes just to clear my table . If they where attentive and at the very minimum provided a cheap bucket to disregard my shells it make a huge difference. One thing I will say is that this place smells amazing from the outside and it will lure you rite up to the door haha . We ordered 1 boil with crab and shrimp and two small plates and it was over $100 not including tax . Just to give you an idea .

Yelp
The food here is just great. You can get platters of food or just meals. Place isn't that big but the service is great and the vibe is simple. The shrimp and crab were amazing. I would try this if you wanna quick bite and wanna get full. Very enjoyable.

Yelp
I'm no stranger to crawfish boils. I grew up crawfishing in the lake and used to do home crawfish boils with my friends almost every month in high school when we would down 5 lb each easily. I've been to dozens of places including Boiling Crab, Deckhand, TLC, and more. I REALLY love crawfish. My partner and I decided to check out Happyrito yesterday with high expectations. Overall, we felt that there were areas of improvement. We ordered the crawfish (you have to order a minimum of 3 lb) and added on some shrimp, potatoes, and got a side of salt and pepper chicken bites. We felt the prices were reasonable. The service was also good, and the employees are nice. The chicken bites weren't super crispy, but the flavor was good; they taste similar to Taiwanese popcorn chicken seasoned with five spice powder. We liked the happy style sauce. It's different than other places we have tried. It's a combination of their Cajun spice and garlic butter; it wasn't greasy and has a more lemon/citrus-y flavor to it. My partner enjoyed his shrimp. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed with my crawfish. For some reason, my batch was cold. I thought that maybe it was due to the ambient temperature, but even when I peeled the crawfish, the meat inside was stone cold. It didn't take long for our food to arrive, so I don't think it was because it may have been sitting there before a server could get it to us. There were a few crawfish that were somewhat warm on the bottom of the tray, but I sifted though the pile and the majority of my crawfish were nowhere near warm/hot. It didn't make any sense. Some of the crawfish were on the smaller side, but I don't count this against them because it's not March/prime crawfish season right now. I did let the server know about my cold food and she apologized and told me that they'd make sure to give feedback to the kitchen. The last thing I want to mention is that the sink water in the women's bathroom is dangerously hot. I couldn't wash my hands because the temperature is bordering on boiling and could cause a thermal burn if you aren't careful. Overall, this review is rounded up from 2.5 stars. I'd really like to give this place another chance. I want to support a Viet-Cajun restaurant, especially as someone who is Vietnamese. I hope the restaurant can take this feedback into account for a future visit.

Yelp
This restaurant serves boiled seafood (shrimp, snow crab and crawfish); fried seafood po'boys and baskets (shrimp, oyster and soft-shell crab); crab eggrolls; pot stickers and other seafood inspired items. I came here with high hopes for the new kids on the block, but I know I will now be the "baddddd guy"- (Billie Eilish) after this review. I ordered two items to-go to include the Birds Nest and the Crab Egg rolls. Bird's Nest- This item was a crab-like mix with mayonnaise inside of an avocado. Normally, I am pleased with this dish (or dishes like this) as it is simple, no cooking involved, takes less than 10 minutes to make and is also low-carb, keto, paleo, and the of the other diet specific terms that the kewl kids are using now. However, this dish for me was bland. There wasn't any punch to it as the heavy mayonnaise nearly eliminated any taste. Shhhhh, don't tell anyone but I tossed this in the trash. Crab Roll- This item had the same crab mix as the Bird's Nest but added cream cheese. What took this up a notch was the side of plum sauce and the pleasant crunch of the roll. As this dish is simple, there is not a complex flavor profile. Of the two, this dish fared better than the first. Because I only ordered starters as opposed to a basket or po'boy, I may come back in to give this place another shot and skip the underwhelming starters.
