This was an absolute delight for a hotel choice while visiting for several days in Santa Barbara. This was the last second pick due to having our reservation canceled at another property, and I am so glad we ended up here. The photos don’t do enough justice. Property and rooms are very clean and very well maintained. Cody was at check-in and very helpful for any questions we had. The availability of beach chairs, as well as borrowing bikes with a wonderful perk. I cannot stress how clean and comfortable this place is. We booked a larger king room (116B) and the small courtyard in the front was absolutely perfect to have morning coffee or a glass of wine at the end of the day. This is easily walkable to the beach as well as all of the local shopping. We really didn’t need to take the car anywhere except to leave. I highly recommend checking this place out and using it as a wonderful opportunity to unwind while in the area . You won’t regret it.

Google
Exceptional experience at Harbor House Inn. The rooms, service, and location exceeded expectations, and for great rate. The office and housekeeping staff are so nice and reliable in ensuring the most comfortable and enjoyable stay possible. They have a great complimentary rental selection of well-kept beach/city gear (bikes, beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, boogie boards, etc.). The room and bathroom were astonishingly clean and comfortable, and the shower pressure & temperature were solid. The location was so quiet and peaceful, while still being well situated for exploring Santa Barbara. We'll certainly be returning.

Google
This is our second stay, which was better than last year and that was pretty good. The attendance to detail is amazing. The room is spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The bed linens and towels were of excellent quality. But what makes a place stand out if there is a problem it is rectified immediately. We had a problem with the bath. Spoke to Cody sorted immediately. Love the place

Google
This was a wonderful place to stay during our first visit to Santa Barbara. We were warmly greeted daily, and enjoyed the beautiful special touches all over the room, that made it feel like we were staying in a friend's beautiful home! Fresh flowers, high quality furnishings and fixtures, fresh filtered water, fruit, snacks, indoor and outdoor seating, bicycles to borrow, maps and dining and sightseeing advice were in abundance.||The location is excellent for walking and biking along the ocean. It was quiet, being a block from the main roads too. We look forward to staying here again for our special occasions!

Google
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Harbor House Inn on Bath Street, just a short walk to the beach. Room 3 (actually an apartment) was spacious, tastefully decorated and included a private patio. The grounds are lovely and you feel relaxed just being there... it felt like a treat every time we returned to the hotel.

Google
We heard from Friends that The Harbor House Inn was located in a great walking location for Santa Barbara. It is 100 times better that just location, it was an incredible great experience of service, privacy, excellent 5 Star standards, and extremely safe area. The rooms made you feel like a high end resort with a mini kitchen, Massive Closet, great Internet, perfect cleanliness for my demanding standards. The staff were very very Professional and great communication. Bravo Bravo Bravo for the owners of this establishment and I would recommend this Inn to my Neiman Marcus level friends and business colleagues!!!!!!!!!

Google
This inn is amazing!! Everyone is so friendly and helpful and the rooms are SO cute and super CLEAN and the street is quiet. Excellent location and close walk to the beach, state st., restaurants, etc. Would 10/10 recommend to everyone! Such a hidden gem and so glad we came across the harbor house inn, we will be back!

Google
This is a small locally owned hotel located on a quiet street one block from the Santa Barbara Harbor. Our room was spacious and very clean, The courtyard had beautiful plants and comfortable sitting areas. I requested a quiet room and we had a room tucked back in the corner of the courtyard which was perfect. They have loads of beach equipment, beach towels and bikes available for guests.

Yelp
The rooms and fittings show that someone with taste and sense is thinking about what is nice for them and giving it to guests without penny pinching The "must haves" are here and also the "how nice" Good bed that is firm( though it's a little high for disabled or short people) Nice sheets Air conditioning Clean bathroom And also The bathroom is REALLY clean, the fixtures ( like towel bars) are installed correctly so they are not wiggly), the towels are absorbent and soft Slippers and robes Kitchen: has NICE dishes and even cooking items like Pyrex baking pans, salad bowl, all in good condition. There is butter and cream in the fridge and the ice cube trays are the nice covered ones so the ice doesn't smell The chairs in the room recliner and were very comfy.

Yelp
I stayed here for my recent visit to Santa Barbara after reading all the glowing reviews. The location is in a prime area as it is close to everything but far enough so that it's peaceful at night. The room had everything I needed with nice little details. The bed is super comfy. I love the decor and it was the perfect option for my trip. All the spaces were thoroughly cleaned as well. I will definitely stay here again. Thank you so much to the owner and the staff for being warm and friendly to me from time of my initial reservation until my last day. I appreciate everyone for also remembering my birthday. Blessings!

Yelp
I love this place. It's clean, comfortable, and well maintained. It's tucked into the neighborhood and just a short stroll to all the places you want to check out. We made use of the bikes to go to ride along the beach. The weather was perfect. Note: Part of the draw of coming to this place was wanting to meet the person responsible for responding to that crazy post. I almost fell off my chair reading that reply it was so appropriate and with that humor attached to it *chef's kiss*

Yelp
I had a fantastic experience at the Harbor House Inn, and here's a quick review to share my thoughts: - Excellent customer service: The staff at the Harbor House Inn went above and beyond to provide exceptional customer service. They were friendly, attentive, and made me feel welcome throughout my stay. - Great amenities: The inn offered a range of great amenities, such as complimentary bikes, quality shampoos, and even access to streaming platforms like Netflix and Hulu. These extras added to the overall convenience and comfort of my stay. - Super clean and well-maintained: The cleanliness of the inn was top-notch. Everything was spotless, and it was evident that the staff took great care in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property. - Small kitchenette: Having a small kitchenette in the room was a convenient feature. - Great decor and prime location: The inn's decor was tastefully done, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Additionally, its prime location added to the overall appeal, making it convenient to explore the surrounding area. - Reasonably priced: Considering the excellent customer service, amenities, cleanliness, and location, I found the Harbor House Inn to be reasonably priced. It offered great value for the experience it provided. I'm already looking forward to returning in the future!

Yelp
Perfect location, 2 short blocks from the beach. Nice and quiet setting with easy access to rooms.

Yelp
We stayed at the Harbor House Inn based on the strong online reviews for the property. It exceeded our expectations in every possible way: the location is walkable and convenient, the property is very clean and nicely appointed, and the owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming. We parked for free on the property and received a complimentary upgrade to Unit 2A, which is a suite and larger than the unit we originally reserved. The woman who checked us in --- perhaps the owners' daughter? --- was warm, knowledgeable, and very kind. Our suite, while not fancy, was exceptionally comfortable and decently appointed. It included a very comfy king-size bed with high-end pillows, a kitchenette with a mini fridge, a large bathroom with a therapeutic tub, a TV with cable and Netflix, and a small, narrow patio with a little table and chairs. The bathroom included a walk-in shower, a private commode room, robes, disposable flip-flops, bath gel, lotions, a blow dryer, and a large sink. Check-in time is 4 p.m. and check-out time is 11 a.m., with a late, 1 p.m. check-out available for an additional $35. Limited free parking is available on the property for standard-size vehicles. Ample street parking is available nearby for those who have larger vehicles or who arrive too late to secure a spot on the property. ("No parking tantrums, please.") Could the TV be larger and the remote control easier to use? Sure, but it's tough to find much to pick on here. They run an exceptional operation and create a welcoming, comfortable guest experience. We truly enjoyed our stay at Harbor House Inn and look forward to returning soon!

Yelp
The reviews posted here and on Trip Advisor are spot on! This place is a gem. Comfortable, nicely appointed spacious rooms in a tranquil setting within walking distance to the beach make staying here a no brainer. Complimentary snacks, bikes and beach gear complete a lovely get away that will have my husband and I coming back for sure. Staff is very friendly and helpful and room rates are quite reasonable although we stayed on a Sunday so weekend rates might be a bit higher. Parking is not the easiest and there's no pool/spa, but that was not a big deal to us.

Yelp
If you book here, be mindful of the fact hat there's no way you can avoid paying a hefty cancellation fee even if you have a very good reason, like getting covid, and you cancel days ahead of time. My family all lives around Santa Barbara and warned me not to book here. I didn't heed them because it looked like such a nice place. In an era when Covid might come upon you any time, avoid this place like the plague (as it were).

Yelp
Stayed here in June 2023. Decent stay. There are much better options in SB. I've revisited SB 3 other times since then. Just stayed at a great Airbnb this week and the Marriott Downtown, Castillo Inn and Hilton SB Beachfront are other great, friendly local options if you're coming from out of town. Wouldn't recommend Harbor House and won't stay again.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay in one of the deluxe king rooms at the Harbor House Inn. Walking distance from the beach, its location can't be beat. Owned and run by a family, their personal touch and excellent attention to detail made for an inviting and cozy experience! We enjoyed their clean, beautiful room with a kitchen, comfortable bed, and soft, fluffy towels. We especially appreciated the complimentary fruits and snacks and the use of their bicycles for cruising the beach. Parking was very convenient. Will definitely return the next time we're in Santa Barbara!

Yelp
Wow!! The hospitality is outstanding. There is nothing you will need when you come here, except to relax and enjoy SB. The staff here is beyond friendly and go out of their way to make you have an enjoyable experience. They provide everything you need to go to the beach, which is two blocks away. Chairs, umbrellas, blankets, towels, you name it! They even have bikes if you need them. The king size room was perfect. It even had a full kitchen. It was super clean and just beautifully decorated. The bed was my favorite...the bed and the sheets were the best I have ever experienced at any hotel, it was the most comfortable sleep I have had in a long time. It was beyond my expectations. I didn't want to leave. I wish we could have stayed longer. I would 10/10 recommend this hotel.

Yelp
The location was amazing! We stayed in the therapeutic tub room and it was so worth it for the air bubbles in tub! More relaxing with bubbles from air than the usual water jets. Area was quiet and walking distance to State street and beach plus pier. They had bikes to rent until 8pm. Very friendly and plenty of parking for cars. Room was quiet and bed was very cozy. Room more spacious than I anticipated.

Yelp
Harbor House Inn made my first vacation in Santa Barbara super special! Location is great, just a quick jaunt to the beach -- I couldn't believe how close it was. It's also walkable to most of popular restaurants in town. Not to mention the rooms are clean and have everything you need AND MORE. So many great amenities! You can even grab towels, chairs, umbrellas, and toys for the beach. They also offer bikes for rent. This is by far the best hotel I've stayed at all year. The staff were unbelievable nice and I'd gladly stay here again. Thanks for making my birthday extra fantastic!

Yelp
The INN was the best part of our Santa Bárbara experience. The good The room felt like a small apartment! The room was cozy Management was attentive. You rock Carlen! You were so gracious and patient with me with all my little requests through the day. Water pressure was amazing! It felt like a spa. Bathrobes included with slippers The INN is a couple blocks from the beach. Next time, we are staying more than just one day! It was perfect!

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here this week for the first time. The service was incredible, the location is perfect. We chose a deluxe king room, it was large, so clean and beautifully decorated. I travel to the area for work and we will definitely be back.

Callie G.

Yelp
This is one of the nicer hotels I have stayed at, due to its variable amenities, cozy, ambience, and creative/unique layouts of the rooms. I have stayed here multiple times over the last 5/6 years. This stay was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in ANY hotel. This is saying a lot because I am constantly traveling. I had a late night away from our rented room and consequently returned late in the evening to the hotel. All of the "guaranteed" parking spaces were taken, and we had to park not the street. My travel companion and I set our alarms for 9am and went to sleep. Unfortunately, we ended up sleeping through our alarms , and at exactly 11:09 am, not a minute later, we were awoken by a violent knocking and jostling of the door knob to our room (there are no security latches on their doors so this was quite frightening) by the owner's son Cody. I was dazed from just being awoken, went to the door and politely explained that we had slept through our alarm and that we would be happy to pay for a late check out . Cody angrily barked that they don't do late Check outs and that he was calling the police. Both of these were lies meant to scare and mislead us. No police officer is coming for someone being 9 minutes late checking out of a hotel! Also it says on the in room pamphlet and on their website that for $35 you can extend your stay till 1:00 and that people who booked direct instead of with a third-party get first priority on this. We booked via third party which saved us over $200. Is this why we were being treated like criminal trespassers and not valued guests?! Cody continued his rant, showing no compassion or empathy for my situation. He used gruff, aggressive, and threatening posture/vocalization. He finished by saying I had 10 minutes and then he was going to ENTER MY ROOM and bring the police. He must've said the word "police"about 17 times. Sure enough, Cody came back nine minutes later and began to start to unlock the door screaming, "I'm coming in!" There's no security latch on the door, as I mentioned before, and I ran into the back kitchen area out of fear that he was breaking into my room in an extremely agitated and aggressive state. As a woman, I was terrified. My travel companion had to step in and stand up to him. Once he knew a male was in the room, he seemed to calm down. Cody it's not ok to do this!!! It is not appropriate for a four star hotel to treat respectful, quiet patrons that did absolutely nothing to deserve such abuse. In fact, I don't believe that anyone paying money to stay at a hotel of any kind and causing absolutely no problems hshould be treated this way. We checked out at 11:30 today, only 30 minutes late. The Harbor House employee who claimed that he was trying to save us from a $50 parking ticket, then attempted to charge our card $200 at 12:12pm. The charge was declined because we turned it off, anticipating possible financial abuse. This hotel employee then made a SECOND attempt to charge our card for $100, when the $200 was declined. He finally settled for keeping our $75 deposit, with no explanation provided. So what exactly was this money for, if $35 is the price to extend your stay two hours? This is criminal. This is abusive. I really wanted to give two stars because it's such a nice hotel but just thinking about all this, I cannot in my good conscience not give this the least amount of stars possible. I still wonder what the heck the Cody was planning on doing if he fully forced his way into my room?! I understand that this is a family run operation, and that his Mommy owns the place, but he absolutely needs to be fired. I am in shock. I want my deposit back, and I am going to write this review on every single possible outlet I can find (so is my travel companion).

Yelp
We absolutely loved this place. We got unit 5. Parking is easy, staff are super friendly. I loved that there are free bike rentals to guests and we did that on our second day in the area. Would definitely stay here again. It's centrally located by everything

Yelp
Super super super cute hotel!!! I'm so happy that we chose here to stay. The hotel room is very clean, good size and well organized. They are so thoughtful to have a small kitchen including coffee maker, water heater, microwave and all the silverware, cups and plates. The bathroom is wide and clean, and they prepared 4 bath towels. You can also get some free snacks and fruits at front desk office. I definitely will recommend my friends this cute place.

Yelp
Just have to experience this place. The pictures don't do it justice. Family owned and they take pride in delivering a memorable stay for their guests. Every detail has been well thought out. The owners are so NICE! In a perfect location to walk to so many attractions that Santa Barbara has to offer.

Sally B.

Yelp
Coby was great! This is our second time here. Love the property. Beautiful. We'll definitely be back!!!

Yelp
I'd give this place 6 stars if they would let me. The location is perfect and we walked to most places we ate and we were a 10 min walk to the pier. Parking is easy and free and the owners live on the property so the grounds are beautiful. We had one of the larger rooms with a king size bead and it was all good. I needed milk for my Insomnia Cookies so my wife asked the person at the front desk (turned out to be the owner) we she could get milk. The owner gave her a giant glass of milk to bring back to the room. Who does that!!! This is the best place we've stayed in California.

Malissa K.

Yelp
This place was incredible! We stayed just two nights, but staff gave us a complimentary bottle of wine when they found out we were celebrating our anniversary. They were extremely helpful as far as recommendations on what to see/do during our brief stay. The room was everything we could have asked - spacious, comfortable bed, a balcony facing the beach and so close we fell asleep to the sounds of the waves.
google avatar

Christine D.

Yelp
Wonderful experience - we were debating between this place and Harbor View Inn which is more of a traditional hotel. No regrets choosing this place! The hospitality and customer service were stellar. We stayed in Room 4 with the Queen Studio and the pictures were exactly as described. Very clean with modern fixtures. The room felt spacious with the living room and kitchenette area. TV has guest streaming access with Netflix and Hulu. The bathroom shower was great with a rainfall showerhead. The location was nestled in a cute neighborhood and easy walking distance to the beach and State Street. I also thought it was convenient to just park right outside the room and parking was free as well. I understand now why this place is rated so high!
google avatar

Flora H.

Yelp
*** 4.5 stars *** Really nice people, perfect location, free parking, outdoor entry (and not many rooms) allows for proper social distancing, free bikes/scooters/boogie boards - I see why this hotel is #1 on tripadvisor! 4.5 not 5 stars because the room itself while being totally comfortable and having everything that you need is a little bit dated, but that certainly did not take away from our comfort our happiness staying here. We loved it and will definitely stay again!

Yelp
First timer in Santa Barbara but I can assure you there is no better place to stay in this area. Everything exceeded our expectations here. When we travel we typically stay with Marriott chain hotels but Santa Barbara forced us to explore other options and I'm so glad we did. Every room here has a unique design/theme which I found to be a fun idea and plan to stay in a different room every time I come back. Family owned business and they were so sweet and helpful. All the amenities are great they have everything you need for a top notch beach experience. Super clean rooms I was so shocked I even did a dust check on the top of the fan for the heck of it and it was spotless. Last thing I really appreciated was the reusable metal water bottles they provide for free, a real nice touch. Oh and the fresh ground coffee was delicious. Thanks Harbor House Inn for the amazing anniversary weekend!

Yelp
Where do I begin? I have stayed in several hotels in SB including the Biltmore. This is my favorite! Extremely clean. The bed was so comfy! Spa tub, cute patio and the room was spacious. Love all the small touches they made to the room. You also have access to bikes and items you would need for the beach. We parked our car and didn't touch it until we left. Superior hospitality. Family owed. Needless to say, when we come back, this is where we will stay.

Ralph G.

Yelp
While advertised as an inn, it is more like a motel. Our unit had a full kitchen, but no place to sit and eat.

Margaret G.

Yelp
This place is amazing, super cute, beach bikes for free, would highly recommend. We definitely plan on staying here next time we're in Santa Barbara.
google avatar

Sunny R.

Yelp
Such an incredible find!! We've never had a warmer welcome than from Ben here at the Harbor House Inn. The place is small and quaint - and that makes it peaceful and quiet! Our room was like a condo and had everything we needed and then some. What struck me was how upscale and tasteful the furnishings and decor are. Everything is much nicer than your standard hotel. We also enjoyed the proximity to the harbor and beach - easy walking distance. We didn't take a ride on their beach cruiser bikes this time but we plan to next time. Classy place, upscale beachy vibe, and we'll definitely be back soon!

Yelp
Lovely small inn. Beautifully well stocked rooms. Very clean. The key is really the terrific staff. Personable, friendly, accommodating. Great location close to beach and walking distance from Stars Street. I'd stay here again in a minute.

Yelp
This is a beautiful place I loved staying here the rooms are decorated beautifully and Cody at the desk is great. He spotted me some sparkling water there are all kinds of wonderful things about this place. The rooms have full coffee makers with coffee that you can put in just the right amount that you want. There are refrigerator freezers and there is ice and in the lobby there is biscotti and fruit. The grounds are just beautiful with lovey plants everywhere and they have bikes that they can loan you to go out and ride on the beach and little boogie boards and towels and beach chairs all that stuff it's really great. It is a very small place I think there are 10 rooms. That adds to the charm of the motel. The only thing that I had a problem with is that every single place in Santa Barbara pretty much will let you have late check-out and they don't unless you get charged $35 more for 2 hours. The reason given is that they are small and they have to get ready for people to check in again at 3 the checkout time is 11 so you can pay for two more hours but I think that's a little bit excessive and I don't know where that money goes does it go to the maids? Do they have to pay them overtime? I don't know. I know that with covid that the rooms have to be extra sanitary There is a lamp that is very pretty and it has a couple of things next to it like a clock that has USB ports but they don't charge very well I would have liked more places to charge my phone it stayed at about 20% most of the time. I absolutely love the fact that they have really good bottled water in the room! And I also I also love the bad! It has the softest sheets and the most perfect pillows you could ever want! Beautifully comfortable. It was a little high for me to get up on because I'm short lol but it was wonderful once you got on it. I would definitely stay here again.

C B.

Yelp
Stopped by this hotel on a recent road trip. Unfortunately the weather wasnt on our side, but we made the best of it. The units are similar to little casitas with every item in the unit thoughtfully placed. I felt so at home I wanted to move in. Lots of nice touches like coffee for roasting in a cute tin to earth friendly re-usable water bottles and netflix set up for a cozy night in. Had the weather been better, we would have taken advantage of the ocean a short 3-5 minute walk away. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Even though this was a business work travel trip, I'm so glad that I steered away from my typical hotel chains and opted to stay at the Harbor House Inn. First of all, it's family owned and operated - what a lovely experience! Parking is free (compared to $49 down the street per night!) and the location is amazing. Room #4 was beautiful decorated in a clean, classic look with a lovely updated bathroom. Free bike rentals along with beach equipment and chairs, as well. For the price, it all felt like such a steal but definitely worth coming back for again - I may try some of the other rooms, but #4 was such a lovely stay.

Yelp
My absolute favorite place to stay in Santa Barbara! I have to go to SB every few months for work and I always request that they book me at this hotel. I've stayed in units 4 and 8 and they literally have everything you need. The rooms are more like mini apartments with small kitchens, table, desk, smart TV's, and separate sleeping areas. There's bikes you can check out... I unfortunately haven't had a chance to use them because I'm usually working, but hopefully next time I can extend my trip and bring the hubby with me so we can try them out! The staff is always super friendly and helpful. The parking lot is very small so if you have a larger car or SUV it could be difficult but there's plenty of street parking... just keep an eye on street sweeping days so you don't get a ticket. Highly recommend this hotel. You will not be disappointed!!

Yelp
Spacious room, great location and gracious hosts. The heat and AC system is a little odd, even the instructions say you won't hear anything while it's on. Beyond that, there's barely any airflow coming out of the vents. But it did work as needed. They have lots of complimentary food items including really large bottles of water which is much appreciated. The duvet and linens are really soft, but the pillows and bed were too firm and uncomfortable. The bathroom was spacious and very clean. However the shower pressure was extremely weak and was an unsatisfying experience. The price was fair for the value and location.

Maya C.

Yelp
We were so looking forward to our stay here. The hotel looks beautiful and ideally located. We were treating our elderly mother to a mini get away and thought this would be a perfect stop off point on our way further south. Very unfortunately, soon after we got underway she had an extreme medical emergency. An acute pancreatitis attack in the car and had to be rushed to the nearest emergency room. She was admitted and hospitalized for a few days. We keep in touch with the hotel as events were unfolding and ultimately had to cancel our reservation. Admittedly same day and last minute. We understand hotels need to have strong cancellation policies but when we asked if there was anyway to have an exception made and have a refund given due to the emergency of this nature (and providing time and date stamped hospital paperwork as prove) the answer was a solid NO. So in addition to a hospital bill we now have a $360 hotel bill for a room we were unable to occupy and a reminder of a good time turned terrible quickly. (PS she will be needing surgery but is stable at the moment) We were saddened by the lack of good will and the rigidity of their policies and by the fact that now we would not feel comfortable staying here on future trips due to their inability to be flexible with life's unexpected events. They aren't team players.

Yelp
I'm in the middle of another stay here and just had to write to express how wonderful my experience is. My friend thinks he has the best room (huge room with ginormous walk-in closet), but I know that mine is better ;) This is a family-run, family-owned place, and the owner has extremely high standards. The place is immaculate, and the hosts are so friendly (thank you Karen, Cody, and Carlin!). I'm enjoying every moment here -- borrowing bikes for a ride along the beachside path, lazing in the courtyard under a shady umbrella, enjoying one of the high quality complementary snacks in the lobby, or simply enjoying the super comfortable king bed and large, immaculately clean bathroom. If you have high standards and appreciate supporting local business, this is the place for you. As long as this family owns and manages this inn, I will never need to stay anywhere else when I visit SB.

Bruce J.

Yelp
I don't often write a review about hotels, because most are just bland and middle of the road. However, this place deserves special recognition. It is truly a gem. From the moment you check in with the friendly and accommodating staff until you leave, everything is first rate. We stayed in a bungalow, and it was absolutely delightful. The furnishings were newer (not scuffed or worn), the room, full kitchen, and bathroom were spotlessly clean, and the towels and sheets were ultrasoft. We truly enjoyed our stay and only wish we had longer to spend there.

Yelp
What an unexpected pleasure it was to stay at the Harbor House Inn! My boyfriend and I decided to take a weekend getaway to Santa Barbara and had an Air B&B booked for both Friday and Saturday nights. Because I have 3 day weekends we decided to go ahead and head up Thursday evening and beach camp somewhere along the coast to maximize time. We stopped at 3 different campsites along the coast, and each one was booked (as I told him would happen during the summer months, but why listen to the lady in your life.....lol!), so we continued to chug along all the way to Santa Barbara without a clue where we would be staying for the night. Santa Barbara is quite expensive, and after a lot of searching online and phone calls we had succumbed ourselves to the fact that we would be spending $300+ for the night. Just as we were about to give up and book something, I noticed the Harbor House Inn's $150 rates posted and he quickly called. The rates posted were for their basic rooms which were sold out, but the man working the front desk informed us that they did have one suite left and it was unlikely it would be booked that evening at that point, so he offered it to us for the basic room rate. It was still more than we intended to pay for that one evening, but it was such a deal for what we got! As we were checking in and talking to the guy, we learned that the Harbor House Inn sits on the original property of the Old Potter Hotel, which was apparently quite the resort of its time. The Old Potter Hotel burned down in 1921 and was completely destroyed with the exception of a few of the suites, which are still in use today by the Harbor House Inn. Our suite was one of those and being that we are both history buffs, we were just so excited to learn this. The room was beautiful and definitely maintained the early affluent 1900's vibe. It reminded me of the 1st class rooms depicted in The Titanic, with an intricate fireplace and all. The hotel itself sits in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara and is walkable to everything in the Funk Zone, to the train station, to the Pier. They even provide beach cruisers if you'd prefer that to walking. As if that wasn't enough, they recognized that we arrived later in the evening, so even though check out was at 11:00am, they said we could keep our car parked there until the 3:00pm check in time for new guests and we were welcome to use the beach cruisers until then as well. Thanks Harbor House Inn for a wonderful experience! We will definitely be looking to stay here again!

Yelp
Thanks to Cody and staff for taking care of us during our first trip to Santa Barbara. The hotel is family owned and I'm always trying to support local when possible. Even though I originally found Harbor House Inn on some 3rd party booking sites, I know those 3rd party websites charges extra service fees as well as take other commission cuts into the hotels. I managed to figure out Harbor House's real website, and after a few emails with Cody and explaining that we have a 5 month old, he was able to recommend just the right room for us. And booking through Harbor House's direct website was way more convenient and direct than having to create an account on those 3rd party sites. And their website is a reflection of their hotel - it's nice, simple, modern, a lot of thought and effort was put into it. Location: I can see the harbor from outside where we checked in. And we took the Amtrak to get in, so it was about a 7 minute walk from the train station. The hotel was super close to downtown and it was such an easy walk or even a bike ride away. Room: Technically, ours wasn't a room, it was a studio. So if you go to their website, you can see all the different selections. In an ordinary hotel, you would choose a king or queen or 2 queen bed rooms and they'll "try" to give you one of those rooms when you check in. But with Harbor House, you actually get to pick the specific room when you book. And each room is different and decorated differently, but they're all really nice. Some of them are standard rooms and they're connected to other rooms like a hotel, except the courtyard definitely has the Spanish design style that Santa Barbara is known for. The rooms are unique from each other, so you'll have to check the details out of what they each actually have. I only have first hand experience with one of their Deluxe King Rooms (specifically Room 118A). It's a stand alone studio. It reminds me of my first apartment (a studio and a half) except MUCH nicer. Even though we didn't use the kitchen to cook or anything, we could have because it came with an oven and stove, along with the microwave and a full fridge and freezer and kitchen sink. This was so convenient to store the baby's milk and wash his bottles. There were ton of windows so there was a lot of natural light coming in. The A/C was the quietest A/C I have ever heard (or not heard???), but the room temperature was so comfortable. I didn't wake up with a headache or dry throat like I do with other hotels. The walk in closet was so large that you can bring 4 to 5 luggages worth of clothes. You can tell that the hotel isn't new, but they definitely renovated it to make it modern while still keeping some of the classic touches. Service: Of all the hotels I have ever stayed out, (ranging from small family own ones to medium ones owned by major corporations to national chains and gigantic resort ones), I have to say the friendly customer service here is the friendliest one ever. Since it's family own and operated, they're on site to take care of all your needs with recommendations for all the nice local spots. Amenities: Although we couldn't them (because of the baby and all), they have a lot free bikes you can borrow to take around town. They also have beach chairs and other things you can borrow so you can enjoy the beach. And although they don't have breakfast there (why would any body want hotel breakfast when you can enjoy the yummy local restaurants a few steps away), there are free fruits and snacks in their check in office if you want to grab something to hold you over. I recommend grabbing a couple of their Godiva chocolates while you're there. If you read through the other reviews, you can see everybody else feels the same way and just adores this place. If you read the few 1 star reviews (and you should), you can tell those reviews are trash and the people who wrote them were being quite unreasonable. And even though they're the ones writing the review, they put themselves in their own bad light that you can't help but laugh. I would definitely book here again, but my only problem is like a good restaurant, do you order the same dish that you KNOW is good or do you try something different next time around and try one of their other rooms because they're all unique?

Yelp
booked this place for me and my man for a weekend getaway during all this covid madness. upon arrival, we parked in the free stalls in front of the rooms and checked in at the host desk. I interacted with 2 property managers during my time here and they were SO friendly and I had a great experience with them. they were VERY knowledgeable and even let us know about the rentals they had. once we got into the room, it was smaller than some of the pictures I had saw on hotwire, but still very nice clean and cozy. at this inn they have half smaller rooms and half BIG almost apartment like rooms. we stayed in the smaller ones, but it was still great. during covid I took things very seriously and they made me feel the room to be very clean and even checking in and out I saw the efforts they made to sanitize keys, pens, etc. PROS: -free snacks in the main office -free rentals!!!!!!!! omg even after we checked out they let us borrow and we used it to bike to lunch and return after -variety of free rentals - bikes, stuff for the beach, etc. highly recommend using this since its part of what you're paying for -location!!!!!! walkable to restaurants, the beach, etc. recommend going to dinner at brophy bros which we walked for maybe 10 min -shower pressure was nice -everything felt very clean -bed was comfy! -tv -coffee corner in your room with all you could need -fridge CONS: -none! OVERALL: highly recommend you stay here!

Yelp
From the moment we entered the office, we had an amazing time and were super happy throughout our stay. Wish we could have stayed longer from how great it was, so we'll definitely return to this hotel the next time we're in Santa Barbara. The staff in the front office was so nice and upgraded us to the Honeymoon Suite for free, and this room has an included bathtub spa and a super cool shower. Even the toilet lever was really cool. There's a lot to watch on TV including Netflix, HBOMax, and a ton more. The wet bar was super cool and you can make hot chocolate, coffee, and tea. The bed was the comfiest hotel bed I've experienced and they gave a lot of bedsheets, as other hotel blankets are usually super thin comparatively. Place is just a short walk to the beach and a ton of great fine dining too, and there's tons of street parking!

Yelp
Beautiful little hotel. The room was extremely clean and spacious. Probably the Best spa tub I have ever used. Very nice, well stocked kitchenette area. Cute private patio of the bedroom. Close to the beach, free bikes to use. Very pricey though.

Yelp
We stayed here for 1 night for an anniversary getaway coming from Solvang. I honestly wished we would have stayed longer! The place and staff were fantastic! Cody checked us in and was very helpful and friendly. We had booked a queen but ended up staying in a king room. (I think it was 116). The room was super clean, the bed and bedding were extremely comfortable, and the kitchen had everything you could possibly need. This felt more like an apartment then a hotel. Unfortunately it was raining during our stay so we didn't make use of the free bikes but they had tons to choose from. The place is a short walk to the pier and restaurants. There's no resort or parking fees. We absolutely loved it and will definitely be back! Thank you Cody and staff for a memorable anniversary!

The free bike was a plus we had a blast riding the bikes they also had beach chairs and towels. The place had free parking. The place was decorated and the landscape was attractive. The room was cleaned and comfortable. I would definitely come back and would recommend this place to everyone. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
Yes yes yes! This place is amazing! We stayed in 116A. It's a HUGE room/cottage. Really nice kitchen with full dishes, pans, etc. I love how non-hotel this feels. Karen was super accommodating if we needed anything or had any questions. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
My husband and I had a great stay while celebrating our anniversary. The suite was super clean, and very convenient. It had a queen bed and a very useful kitchenette with everything you could need. Cody helped us check in and was very polite and helpful. It was our best lodging experiences in Santa Barbara. We would definitely come back here again.

Yelp
This cute little boutique hotel is as great as it gets! It's what you were looking for in a nice getaway experience. Adorable property that has a prime location that is as close to the waterfront as you can possibly get. Pros: - Super comfy and indulgent rooms that feel like home - Free coffee and tea! They have creamer, sugar, and everything you could ask for. A great little luxury. - If you stay two nights or more, you get the biggest welcome basket you've seen in your life. I'm talking fruit, banana bread, an assortment of healthy snacks when all you really want is some Cheez-Its and processed chocolate cupcakes, and a beverage assortment like tomato juice (if you're 80), coconut water, and a protein shake. - Outfitted kitchens and adorable bathrooms with great fixtures - Beautiful property. So colorful and inviting. - Great staff - Bikes that you can borrow! - Netflix and Hulu for winding down at night Cons: - The wifi here was kinda garbage, but if you need to get some work done, they have a little business center. - Parking is semi-limited in their little on-site circle, but plenty of street parking around the area to be had. So what are you waiting for?! This is it!

Yelp
Had the pleasure of staying at this Inn this past weekend. Checked-in with the assistance of Steve at the front desk; he was very kind and accommodating. The room was beautiful, the bed was perfectly comfortable, the windows allowed for there to be just the right amount of natural light, and everything was stocked. There was even a make-up remover wipe in the bathroom along with the standard toiletries! They covered all the bases here. The fireplace was very easy to use, and added to the homely ambiance. The TV came with it's own Netflix account, and was adjustable so it could be pointed to various directions around the room. Not to mention it was about 2 minutes walking distance from the docks and 10 minutes walking distance from basically everything else! (Great restaurants, rentals, fishing, etc) It was a beautiful place to spend a nice couple's weekend away, we are looking forward to coming back soon!
