"Built in 1887, the Grand Pacific Hotel sits at the corner of Fifth Avenue and J Street in the Gaslamp. Owned by HP Investors, a San Diego-based real estate investment and management company, the 15,000-square-foot building will be redeveloped in partnership with the local hospitality team behind RMD Group. This spring, the group will embark on a multimillion-dollar project that will open in mid-2019 as a multi-level, multi-concept restaurant and bar." - Candice Woo

Great location. Family of 3. The room had a “split bathroom” setup – the shower on one side, the toilet on the other, and the sink right in the middle of the junior suite. Cleaning was just average. The pool is apparently reserved for external events every weekend – GUESTS CANNOT USE IT. We had to walk in sarongs and swimsuits, with our 5-year-old child, all the way to the Hilton pool instead. Calling that a pool is laughable – it was extremely dirty, and our daughter developed a contact rash after swimming there. Absolutely disgusting. We booked through Booking.com, and nowhere was it mentioned that the pool would be unavailable. In fact, the main reason we chose this hotel was precisely because of the advertised saltwater pool. One last inconvenience: the in-room food service. Very poor quality and incredibly overpriced. Definitely not coming back.

I stayed here back in April. I loved it. The room was clean, the beds comfy, we had a nice view of the city. And it is very centric. A train station is right across the street. They have speedy check out by dropping off your room keys in a box. Staff was very friendly and cordial. If I am ever again in San Diego, I will stay here again.

Unfortunately, our stay at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego didn’t live up to expectations. The incidental hold was shocking—half the cost of the stay—which we weren’t prepared for. While the location is great, especially for events at Petco Park, there’s no included parking. Valet is pricey, and self-parking is in a separate garage. Valet did help on game day when spots were not available, but overall, it felt like a lot of extra cost for little convenience. The hotel itself is in serious need of a refresh. Our room lacked a refrigerator, ice was only available on higher floors, and the pool was more patio than anything else. The air conditioning barely cooled the room, and the toiletries had an unpleasant scent and poor performance. Even the toilet paper was single ply. Small details, but they add up. Worst of all, a dirty room service tray sat in the hallway near our room for two full days. Between that and the overall tired condition of the hotel, it was clear that attention to detail is lacking. There are much better options….literally next door. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Google
Great location with easy access to many great restaurants with the ball park and convention center only a block away. Concierge made some great dining recommendations. Beds were just okay, a little firm for my comfort but that's to be expected in most hotels. Waterfall shower was weirdly placed and the water flow was so slow that I just didn't use it.

One of the best hotel experiences you can have in San Diego. But it all started with the receptionist Samar, who came through with such good energy and vibes that it started off a whole trip at a 10! People like that who work in hospitality who make a difference. Can only name a few times in my travel life where an employee at a hotel made such a difference and he was one of them. Thanks Samar and thank s Hard rock hotel!

We stayed here to celebrate my husband’s birthday and see the Padre - Dodger game . The location is great being basically across the street from Petco . Room was fine, pool area is TINY and there was no way to order food and drinks to the pool. The pool area is on the 4th floor so you have to go down to the bar in the lobby to order a drink. Really disappointing vibe . We stayed at the Solamar last year, which was fabulous, and would return there or to one of the many other choices you have downtown. Wouldn’t stay here again - especially for the price .

I loved the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego in every way. In particular, I'd like to highly commend the gentleman at Valet who was assisting me with getting my car. His Name is David Ryan (Dave). It was so late at night, I was so tired, he was extremely helpful in helping me get my car quickly and especially kind and professional. I've never left a review for a valet, but he is that wonderful. They are lucky to have him. Paula

“Hard Rock Hotel San Diego nails downtown style with clean rooms, friendly staff, and a prime walkable location. The rooftop pool and energetic vibe are major perks. Just note the lively atmosphere may come with some noise, and valet parking can be costly.”

Yelp
I had the best birthday ever at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, thanks to my boyfriend surprising me with a stay here! From start to finish, the experience was incredible. The hotel even gave me a ticket for a free drink at the bar, which was such a fun and thoughtful touch. The view from our room was spectacular, and the interior design was so cool that it inspired me to consider using a similar color scheme in my own home. One of the best parts was how close the hotel is to everything. San Diego's walkable vibe made it so fun to explore the city, nothing beats being drunk with your lover in a walkable city. The hotel itself has several restaurants and some awesome music-themed artifacts displayed throughout, adding to its unique and lively atmosphere. Unfortunately, we did have one bad experience with the valet service. When my boyfriend retrieved his car, he noticed the mileage had gone down significantly, making us suspect that they may have been revving the engine or even doing burnouts. He has a fast car that definitely catches attention, so this was disappointing and something to be aware of if you use valet service there. Overall, though, the hotel itself was fantastic, and despite the valet issue, we had an unforgettable stay. I'd definitely recommend the Hard Rock Hotel for anyone looking for a fun, stylish, and centrally located spot in San Diego!

Yelp
Spent Thanksgiving week here. The hotel is very cool. And extremely clean. (Not only the rooms but the common areas as well). The staff was great. And our suite was super comfortable. *** BTW: The weekends tend to get loud and a bit rowdy.

Yelp
great experience with Valet. i believe his name was Daniel? def started with D. thanks for your help! Edit: it was David! he rules!

Yelp
The rooms are so dirty and outdated. Carpets are coming off the ground we had no toiletries in our room. I had to wipe the whole room down with Clorox wipes. Please don't bring your family to this location. Yes it's near many restaurants but that doesn't supersede that the hotel is rundown and old. I will say this Customer service is excellent. All the employees are very kind and attentive. And the rooms seem like they're just rooms to go have sex in and then leave. I was so disappointed

Yelp
Not a guest at the hotel but attended to conference and really enjoyed the vibe and ambience of the hotel. It's always cool to see rock 'n' roll legends memorabilia and other fun entertainment displays.

Yelp
Always have to stop into the hard rock on our adventures around San Diego comic con in gaslamp. The staff there are always kind and in the mix as part of the comic con activations and scavenger hunts. The hotel looks grand clean and upscale for the area. Hopefully we'll hit the hard rock one year for telly bookings during the convention

Yelp
I stayed at the Hard Rock for a bachelorette party and we all had a great time. We were able to request rooms next to each other and the staff were all helpful and friendly. We ended up renting a cabana for the pool party which was a lot of fun. They had plenty of options to make the bride feel VIP with the rooms and the pool party. The location was perfect because most of the things we did during the trip were downtown and near the hotel.

Yelp
The hotel is nice, but my experience wasn't great. I paid for the room with a credit card before my stay, but the hotel charged the nightly rate to the card I used as a hold as well. It's been almost a month now, and I still haven't received a refund, despite them acknowledging the error. I've essentially paid for the room twice. I've reached out to the hotel four times, and my credit card company also spoke directly with the manager. The manager confirmed they would submit the refund the next day, but that was almost three weeks ago. I just called again and was told that their refund process is slow due to a recent system change. I stayed on 1/19/25, and now it's 2/18/25...

Yelp
We had a fabulous stay at the Hard Rock Hotel! We lucked out perfectly with the sunny San Diego weather and enjoyed ourselves at the quiet pool. I highly suggest becoming a Unity by Hard Rock member as there are so many great perks. I mentioned that we were celebrating my baby moon and the Concierge delivered chocolate covered strawberries to my room. So nice!! Also- upon my hotel booking, it suggested parking across the street in the parking garage instead of Valet. Highly recommend. Thanks for a great staycation!!

Yelp
Took my girlfriend to the Gaslamp area for her birthday and stayed in one of their rockstar suites and it was amazing. The vip experience is pretty legit and because it was her birthday she got a free drink ticket for their bar. The drinks were solid for sure.... They definitely did the job HAHA. Next time I go to San Diego I'm staying here again and maybe trying the Nobu located in the hotel lobby.

Yelp
The location of this Hard Rock cannot be beat! Located right near the Petco Ballpark where you can see a concert or watch the Padres play you just can't go wrong. Tons of restaurants and bars in the Gaslamp within walking distance. Bright clean and welcoming lobby.. just an enjoyable experience!

Yelp
Made another reservation to return to the HRH SD! It is in a prime location in the Gaslamp District of San Diego. At the entrance, take one step in any direction for countless tourist attractions from concerts, sports, restaurants, shops and nightclubs. Walk South 1/2 a block to hop on the Red Trolly (map of the route is posted by the bench seats). Continue another 1/2 block to the Convention Center. Walk 1 block East to the Petco Stadium for family entertainment. Walk West on Harbor Drive toward Seaport Village for a large tourist attraction of beautiful Coastal views of the ocean, shops, restaurants and beautiful hotels. If you drive this street for 5 to 10 miles you can stop along the way to see the Greyhound Bus Depot, the Airport, Museums, Shelter Island area, take Whale Sighting boat excursion or swim/surf in the ocean. Walk 1/2 block North to 5th Avenue for 2 miles of shops, restaurants, bars, a movie theater. No need to drive, it's all walking distance. You do not have to venture out of the HRH SD, it is a resort hotel! The amenities are two restaurants, gift shop, rooftop bar, exercise room, day spa, swimming pool and jacuzzi. The hotel has ticketed events on the rooftop and indoors in their spacious banquet rooms. So much to Go, See, and Do! You will love this LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION as your getaway destination for work or play! Come on down and see for yourself! Don't forget to tell 'em that Rosemary sent ya!

Yelp
Stayed for a weekend in one of their suites. The hostess was very nice & helpful. She gave us advice on events happening in the area & sent us a bottle of champagne. We had a small patio that overlooked a quiet area facing Petco Park. Our hotel was central to most things in the gas lamp district, which required no Uber rides, which was a nice plus.

Yelp
I have been enjoying the Hard Rock Hotel throughout the years for many reasons, especially attending parties, birthdays, and special events. This summer I am truly enjoying the Liquid Sunshine sessions which include free access to the rooftop for those fitness oriented folks (mostly ladies like so many events in this city) with access to the pool as well. I have been attending as much as I have been able to and everything with this hotel is always smooth in my experience. Awesome security by the pool, friendly staff, very attentive, very nice hostesses. The hotel keeps its charm in everything they do. Thanks for putting this series together!

Yelp
Room was great and very comfortable. Do not expect to get an early check in- waited 4 hours and room was magically available exactly at 4 for normal check-in. Staff blamed it on having to clean 200 rooms but at check in we found the electronic payment system was down as they had been working on an update all day. Would have been 5 stars if they didn't leave us waiting- could have been upfront when we arrived.

Yelp
Travel and the many great hotels and the resorts that you find amongst the bayside it can really surprise with the many that are there with some of them with the great views, and the superb swimming pools you can find the ones that are the giants of San Diego. Areas amongst the bayside and the Trolley line you will find the famous ones such as the Hilton Gaslamp and the Marriott by the bay that has the most gorgeous views of the bay and the overlook of the Gaslamp. One of the best hotels that you may have seen when you have traveled to the city of Las Vegas Nevada which is the home capitol of gambling in the United States with the many hotels with some of the best restaurants when you see the Gaslamp location you may have Ideas that you can gamble here at the Hardrock Hotel. With the Hard Rock Hotel its the center of the bottom end of the Gaslamp and the easy trolley connection that can take you to trhe many areas of San Diego. The Hotel is one that has the square shape design when you look up the size you see the many sections that show a stack of blocks with the mirrored designs. Many times, that I have gone to the Hard Rock Hotel to see the collections they have of the many artists instruments and the collections of the Beatles handwritten songs. When you go to the Hard Rock Hotel you have the best time of going to Mary Janes Restaurant for the best food and the drinks that makes your brunch some of the best in town with Mimosas those are the best at Mary Janes. The Hard Rock Hotel also has one of the best swimming pools that many groups have the pool parties there if you have seen advertisements of the parties that you can see people walking the streets dressed in bathing suits and board shorts. With the location of the Hard Rock Hotel which is close by the Gaslamp Trolley center the parking can be one that you will need to have the parking service. With the great service with the best restaurant, it makes the location a great place yet its not a place that you gamble at. With a wide space main lobby and the use of neon in many areas with the small check in areas makes it more open without the many checks in people. As a Yelp Elite Reviewer from the many places that I have been to there are a few places that many still think that are casinos yet there are some cities that do not permit gambling. The many Hotels and Resorts they have some of the best outdoor areas with the outdoor seating and the rooftop bars these are the ones where you can find some of the best values at certain times with many others they do have high prices. The Hard Rock Hotel is one that lives by its name and the things that r5epresents to have a hotel that has a great musical background that it's the feather in the hat.

Yelp
Super cool place to stay when in the "Daygo". The location is insanely close to all types of stuff. Fine dining, The Midway Museum, The pier, Coronado Island, anything on the waterfront and it's literally across the street from Petco Park. My room looked into the stadium. The interior is very cool with nice artifacts of music history everywhere. What was really fun was that the whole room vibe is tailored to make you feel like you're a rockstar. It's definitely catered to the type of person that likes to have fun. If your a stodgy "get off my lawn" type, this might not be your jam. What was interesting is that the bathroom is located in the center of the room, dividing party area and lights out party area. I also appreciated how the staff was really helpful and they dressed like they all had individual fun personalities. I hope that management keeps this up because it was a nice touch in the corporate world we live in.

Yelp
This year i was excited about staying here during comic con because it's literally in the middle of it all. Walk out and boom you are experiencing the con and Gaslamp in general It was great to have elevators not all be in same area so getting up and down was super easy which I'm thankful for not having to wait years The service out front was always great and friendly I know this place or I remember hearing that it was recently refurbished but it feels like they still need to do more or finish it in some areas?

Yelp
David at valet makes my experience one to remember each time by simply remembering my name. Small things make the difference. 6 stars.

Yelp
Don't recommend staying here. Booked a one night stay for a wedding in downtown. I had to leave for work and fiancé stayed for the rest of the wedding. I had the room keys with me. After wedding she went to front desk and they would not give her one. They didn't allow her to stay at the hotel and she had to call family to come pick her up. Pretty ridiculous when you pay 400 for one night and you can't even stay in the room you paid for.

D S.

Yelp
New Years Eve at this hotel was horrible!!!! and tickets were not cheap. 3 dance floors. all playing techno music. no words, no lyrics, not danceable.the same beat hour after hour after hour. why are you playing the same music in all 3 areas??? in the main room, no one was dancing most of the night. just congregating on the dance floor. multiple people on stage, no one had the common sense to play 'dance music'?? ive had more fun at 'gimme gimme disco'. the outside dance area was too cold. the smaller dance area stayed empty all night long. this place does NOT know how to play dance music. many people left right after midnight. I will NEVER go there again. a lot of hype. very disappointing NYE.

Yelp
Albadoor is the most honest hard working person I think I've ever come across. She went above and beyond for me. I left my ring behind and it was found within the hour and held at the front desk for me. Sometimes it doesn't feel like good people exist, but they still do! Good people are out there. This entire hotel is full of respectful Helpful people. The manager is kind and hard working, it obviously trickled down, they are doing something right! Very clean, welcoming atmosphere! From the top to the bottom of the staff. Great people and energy. Highly impressed and I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is traveling in the area!

Yelp
I was having a rough disappointing night and after having the help of Layla from the front desk, David from valet, and Dylan from security my night was made so much better. They all were so helpful and went above and beyond to ensure my safety and my holiday was special. My favorite part was the hug from Layla that I really needed I was in tears at the desk. Thanks again everyone! Please reward their professionalism.

Yelp
My wife attended a focus group here. We did not stay. The valet staff and front office personnel were very efficient and personable. The interior was very clean and modern. The 5th Avenue entrance requires a room key for entry. Obviously got the safety of guests from the homeless in the area. The restaurant provided a quiet environment for you to relax with a refreshing drink. While I am a Hard Rock collector I refrained from going into their store since I have no room for more hats or shirts.

Yelp
Nice location. Clean. Served its purpose. Reasonable rate. Staff was friendly. Parking behind the hotel was reasonable for $24 overnight parking vs the ridiculous $60 at hotel.

Yelp
The reason I'm giving this hotel 3 stars is because the rooms were outdated and could use some maintenance. We had the hard rock suite with a king bed on the 10th floor. Awesome view of the city not gonna lie and we had the perfect view of the sunset from our window which opens up. The only complaint I had was the cracked mirror in the sink, carpet had some ripped and bathroom had chipped door frame. Overall our experience was good every employees we interacted with was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is at the Gaslamp district, walking distance to Petco Park and the Convention center. Perfect location to stay for any events at the stadium or convention center.

Tiff R.

Yelp
We had my daughter's Sweet 16 Slumber party here last weekend. Check in isn't until 3 and even though we showed up at noon the woman at the front desk, Emma made every effort to get us checked in early. We had 3 rooms, two adjoining and she helped us with everything. She was incredibly nice and patient with us. I went down several times in the course of the weekend and she helped me quickly and with the utmost kindness. The kids hung out at the pool during the day and the bartender behind the bar and the waitstaff took great care of us. The rooms were nice and clean. My only complaint, and it isn't even really a complaint, was that the elevators were loud but it didn't really matter. Excellent weekend stay!

Ben K.

Yelp
David and Bryan are legends, made me feel like a VIP. If you visit, use the valet, even if it's just to talk to them. Amazing service 10/10.

Tracy P.

Yelp
Kelly, David and Brian are fabulous! Great super friendly customer service! best, Tracy

Phil M.

Yelp
Great staff. Unique room experiences. Makes you feel like a rock star. I recently stayed at the hotel and was treated like true rock royalty. From the doormen to the front desk to the VIP concierge to the bar, everyone took care of me. My favorite part of the event was learning that every room is individually owned and so they have unique character. For example, my room had Black Eyed Peas memorabilia--get that suite if you can afford an upgrade. I also loved that you can borrow guitars or bass guitars to use in your room while you're there (they do require a security deposit, of course) and these were good instruments. I borrowed a Fender Jazz bass--my favorite.

Emmie M.

Yelp
We were very excited, we booked a suite and early check in and check out and even champagne in our room. We checked in to a room that had a broker AC on the he first weekend of summer, we had to ask about the champagne. We hen they attempted to fix our AC(they left no note or anything) they left us a fan. By 3 AM we were dying of heat and asked if moving rooms was an option. They got us a new room that had someone else's clothes in it. We moved hotels. I don't recommend this hotel.

Farah A.

Yelp
This hotel is the perfect location for conventions or vacation. Right in the heart of the Gaslamp district and conveniently located across the street from the convention center. Near a ton of shops and restaurants. The items for sale in the room are over priced I would suggest going to cvs near by for water and snacks. But the service is fantastic, the room did not have a microwave but upon request they did deliver one to our room. The price of the rooms are aligned with the going rates in the area. Train line near by too. Definitely a great place to stay.

Monica S.

Yelp
Wish we had better things to say.. Dissatisfied with the overall stay. Know you are paying for the location and that's about it. Room service, the food was underwhelming. Blackout curtains? Absolutely not. There is no smart tv so no Netflix, you get about 10 channels to pick from. Also the bed was extremely uncomfortable & no real blankets. It felt like 4 sheets stacked together. Very overpriced when the hotel rooms need a remodel. Ah but they do give you 1 free drink ticket after speeding +$700 for 2 nights for 2 people.

T M.

Yelp
Stayed here several times and there's ALWAYS an issue. From screwed up reservations to dirty rooms. There are way better hotels for less money.

Dani R.

Yelp
I absolutely love this Hard Rock! VIP service means VIP! Free drinks in the VIP lounge for getting the Rockstar Suite, and the guys in valet were SO accommodating! I asked for a lot! lol. Thank you Lalo, Brian, Zander, Mike, and Kelly! You guys rocked our stay! Muah

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel with my husband who had a work conference in the hotel. Overall our stay was pleasant and we appreciated its proximity to the train and a few things in Downtown SD. They did a nice job of providing a lovely space, food, and assistance with the conference. The room was clean and the bathroom was a nice size for our needs. We are were in room 830, so we were on the side of Petco Park. It was nice to be able to hear the game and see some highlights on the big screen. But it was also loud, it didn't bother us because we were prepared for it. But for some with small kids who want to go to sleep early that could be an issue. We just brought a White noise machine to help block out the sound of cars, trains, and whatever else might come up. Also keep in mind that there are really BRIGHT lights coming from Petco Park. The black out curtains did a good job of minimizing them. But it was still pretty noticeable, manageable, but noticeable if you're really sensitive to light. We didn't get a chance to use the amenities as we were out and about most of the time. The kids really wanted to go to the pool, but it was chilly. Then I wasn't sure if it was open due to the company event being in the same area. If going to a pool is a big deal for you, you may want to confirm that there are no events happening. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. All in all it was a nice work-cation for us and we enjoyed our stay.

Yelp
I do enjoy the Hard Rock Hotels and this one is at a good location at the end of the Gaslamp District.

Anne W.

Yelp
Bed was ok. Bedding and pillows were good. Close to waterfront. Starbucks right there for a quick bite and a tea. No included mini fridge (cost an extra $30). Lots of drinks and snacks in the room to sell you which I'm not used to seeing in a hotel. Very annoying because it takes up needed space. Like half the dresser top was a big tray laden with alcohol, $11 bottles of water, and snacks. I did carefully move that to the closet because I needed to space for my purse and computer and other stuff. Diner closes early so had to venture forth for an 8pm dinner. Breakfast there was good. Lunch as well though tater tots were not worth the extra money as they were over fried.
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
Location is prime in Gaslamp so that's why the higher price tag but I felt this hotel left a lot to be desired. I think the $55 overnight parking fee per day is exorbitant! Paying $110 for two nights sheesh. Check in process was easy for the most part we got there around 2pm on a Saturday and there were no rooms available so we had to wait until 4pm. The initial man was pretty pleasant and then when we got a text our room was ready we thought we just needed to get our keys but the gentleman was basically checking us in all over again asking for incidental card etc. when we did so the initial round. Then our keys didn't work the second night so we had to go to the front desk and they said they didn't have a card for incidentals--lol The rooms itself are spacious and clean but you can tell they are becoming dated. The hardrock has been around for a while. I do wish the restrooms had an actual door instead of a glass open door that doesn't fully close. Otherwise, the bed was super comfortable. We didn't get to check out the rooftop pool this time around but heard great things about it. Otherwise, a solid night stay just don't think the price tag is justified.

Yelp
Thank you to all the staff for being so kind during our stay especially the valet guys Felipe, Lalo, and Tam. They were super attentive and helpful.

Yelp
I was in San Diego for a Conference and the Hard Rock is directly across the street from the Convention Center. This Hotel is great, it's at the base of the Gaslamp Quarter and there are tons of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Fabiola checked us in and was great. She made the check in process very easy. The room was clean and the perfect size. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is the rooms windows/balcony doors are thin. There were parties going on in the pool area and the rooftop and we could hear the music/bands as clear as if we were at the party, and we were on the 8th floor. You can also hear a good amount of street noise. We walked to CVS and got earplugs and they did help a bit. Overall, this is a great hotel and I would stay here again when I return to San Diego. The benefits of the location, proximity to the Coronato ferry, and great city views far outweigh any inconvenience we had from the noise.

Yelp
Eddie is da bomb! Many thanks for your service. I have come to Hard Rock Hotel for the second time, and again, an excellent venue for professional meetings. Beautiful facilities, excellent people, delicious food. #winning

Yelp
Ah-mazing doesn't even begin to describe our experience staying at the HardRock San Diego for our 4th Anniversary! The fresh smell that greeted us upon walking in, I just knew I was home again! We were greeted with welcome cocktails at check in and our Woodstock room was available right away. Not to mention, we also received two extra beer coupons for Float as a congratulations from the staff. How awesome is that?!?! The staff was beyond friendly and helped at any given moment. We loved riding the free bikes around which is always a highlight for us. Not to mention, our room was everything! The patio overlooked the Gaslamp district and the epic Float party. We had late check out and was able to see the fun. We'd definitely be back next year for our 5th year as my husband has made this our anniversary spot due to the excellent treatment!

Yelp
The location of this hotel in the old Gaslight district is why I gave it a second star. For $400 this room leave much to be desired- $11 bottle of water?! A mini bar filled with experience drinks and no room for your dinner leftovers- but you can rent a mini fridge and microwave (none in the room) for $30. The modern-looking faucet is nice looking but it often continues to run because it's hard to tell if it's off. There were no extra blankets in the room so we had to call for more. There is only one suitcase holder in a room with two beds. This is not worth $400

Yelp
Not the best experience and the rooms were EXTREMELY overpriced for what it was. We came down for the Morgan Wallen concert and stayed for one night. We valeted for $60, checked into our room that we paid $830 for. They gave us the 3rd floor, the rooms are very basic and outdated. Our shower faucet was broken and the water only came out blazing hot. We also grabbed food to go from the restaurant downstairs and it took 40 min to make two sandwiches, mind you they were not busy. Downtown is not what it used to be either, we couldn't believe how many homeless people have camped out there now and it's just filthy. The hotel needs a facelift, definitely won't be staying there again.

Yelp
Great central location in San Diego. Not too far from anywhere. The hotel is done up nice. The rooms are extremely large and most suites. The price is slightly higher than most of the other hotels but worth it. The location is in the Gas Lamp and minutes walk from the rows of restaurants. If you not from the area, this is a great place to go out in the evening. Since COVID the streets have been shut down to traffic so it's creates a cool atmosphere of curbside dining in this majestic district.

Yelp
I recently stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego and had an amazing experience! The hotel's vibrant atmosphere, stylish decor, and top-notch amenities made my stay truly enjoyable. The valet team, including Eddy and Alan and Jesus, provided exceptional service, making me feel like a rockstar! I was impressed by the hotel's attention to detail and personalized service. The staff's knowledge and recommendations were spot on, making my stay comfortable and convenient.

Yelp
This was my second time staying at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego. I was here years ago with a bunch of friends in a suite and that was really fun. This most recent trip was for a work event that we had at the convention center and this was a very convenient location. Is very close and right across the way from the convention center so location was it was great. There were a couple of Padres games going on during this time as well so if anybody is coming from out of town to watch the Padres or to root for the opposing team this is probably one of the closer hotels that you can be in the gaslamp area. The front desk is kind of small. They seem to be a little more strict about the check in times and check out times compared to other places. Probably because they're a little more boutique I suppose? At least as of 2022, guarantee check-in is at 4PM at around three they may have some rooms available. Check out is at 11AM. My room was facing the train tracks so I would hear some of the dinging of the rail road so that would wake me up in the early morning thinking that it was my alarm clock. So if you're a light sleeper I've had seen another review that said to request for a room on the other and further away from the tracks. Another great perk is that the Starbucks downstairs does take mobile orders and so prior to my day began I placed a mobile order and then be able to have my items be waiting for me as I went downstairs and avoid the crazy lines.
