The Best Rice Porridges to Savor in Los Angeles

"Located inside a supermarket food court, this Cantonese breakfast place is as no-frills as it gets. Order at the counter, pay in cash, and relish the simple joys of piping-hot porridge; the one with pork and preserved eggs just might be the best. An order of Chinese doughnuts can be kicked up a notch by ordering the ones wrapped in rice noodles." - Cathy Chaplin, Eater Staff

22 Landmark Cantonese Restaurants to Savor in Los Angeles

"Find Harlam’s Kitchen in Rosemead’s Square Plaza’s run-down food court. One of the reasons people still come to the plaza is solely for Har Lam’s Hong Kong-style comfort food: wonton noodle soup, chow fun, porridge, and rice noodles with beef brisket and tendon. The stall is so tiny that you can see the staff standing shoulder to shoulder, wrapping fresh dumplings and blanching noodles. The metal chairs in the food court haven’t been changed in decades, while the food is served in styrofoam containers. Harlam’s must-order item is the zhaliang, a crispy Chinese fried donut wrapped inside a thin rice-noodle sheet and topped with sweet soy sauce, sesame seeds, and scallions." - Kristie Hang

Google
Best place to grab wonton noodles, fried egg noodles and congee. They have other dishes like rice rolled with Chinese donut. Prices are affordable, most dishes $7-10. My mom and I love this spot.

Google
Used to love eating here, but we ordered 3 items for take out. Instead, we were giving 3 different dishes than the one dishes we initially ordered. Only found out when we got home

Love love love this place inside the food court. Have been coming here almost all my life. They are closed Wednesday. Best Hong Kong style foods. Amazing food at amazing deal, and portion. I'm simple, my favorite is soy sauce chow mein, sometime add BBQ pork. Beef chow fun, my next favorite. Beef stew wanton soup noodles, can't pass up. I always get it to go. Usually to LAX before I fly out! LoL

Google
An excellent hole in the wall that satisfies all taste buds in one sitting! I am ALWAYS craving their noodles! Both affordable and tasteful. It doesn't get better than this--even a noodle house doesn't top their food. There's a variety of options, but they're known for their infamous wonton noodle soup! People tend to pair it with some delicious "Chinese donuts"

Friday 8/25/23 Lunch at Harlem’s Kitchen in Rosemead with my colleague. I had the wonton and beef stew noodles and a herbal tea. It’s authentic and flavorful with a great price. This restaurant is located inside a food court and market. Thus, decor in food court needs to be remodeled. The service and foods are made fast so get ready to eat while it’s hot. Literally, 3-5 minutes after you ordered the foods are ready. I recommend trying this restaurant out. Good foods, cheap price!!! One of my Cheap Eats spot. David Young Restaurant Enthusiast

Located in the food court, the environment is average and the price is very cheap.

Awesome little spot. Have been eating here since childhood. Everything is deliciously authentic. The lines speaks for itself.

I ordered a fried chicken rice noodles. It used to be good, but recently found the noodles are cooked sticky, not like they used to. Maybe a new incompetent chef?

Yelp
Located in the food court of the square market shopping plaza, this is definitely a bond fide low key and underrated Cantonese hole in the wall. I've been coming here since I was a kid and the quality of the food and the taste has never changed. Known for their delicious broth and traditional Cantonese dishes, you will not be disappointed. The go to dishes are the wonton noodle soup (with varieties of different types of meat), chicken curry, rice sheet noodle with Chinese donut, and their dry beef chow mien/ chow fun. Service is speedy and efficient. Ask for their chili sauces to compliment their delicious dishes. Plenty of parking but the plaza can get busy on the weekends. Lastly, cash only.

Yelp
It's been so many years since I've eaten here (back when there was an arcade next door). Back in the day their soy sauce chow mein was actually good, with a lot of wok hei, and supposedly they had changed owners a while back so it's not the same anymore but let's give it a try again. Definitely lighter in flavor, not as dark, not as enough wok hei as before but there were some noodle bits that charred a little more. They give a little container of chili oil but I honestly prefer it with sriracha. It's not the same as what I remember but it's still not bad, especially for the price of $6.50.

Yelp
We have the beef chow fun and man, what happened? We haven't been back for months and noted the last two times the chow fun was super subpar. I rather spend a few extra dollars and go to Garden to pick up a decent chow fun. The fried rice was all rice. You do get a lot of carbs and I guess you get a good bang for your buck but I think I am gonna pass.

Yelp
I grew up in the SGV and I would love to come to their food court, especially when they use to have the arcade here. This place has been long standing and food good reason! Food: 5/5 We got the friend noodles with beef gravy and the shrimp dumpling noodles. The food was delicious and fresh to order. The veggies and noodles were nice and springy and the soup was aromatic and flavorful. The shrimp dumplings were delicious, juicy, and plump. Price: 5/5 The two dishes cost only $21 and were a lot of food for the price. We paid in cash, but I'm do not remember if they take card or note. Ambiance: 5/5 The food court is a bit out date, but it is definitely a unique dining experience. It truly reminded me of my childhood and coming to eat here with my parents after shopping at the attached supermarket. Service: 5/5 Order your food and find an open table in the food court. There usually is no wait and the food is made fresh to order. It makes take a little bit of time, but the food is well worth the wait.

Yelp
It is so disappointing.. been coming here since the 90s. They way over cooked my noodles.. it was like mush.. and I got a stomach ache. Prob not be returning anymore.

Yelp
Was watching TikTok and saw their Shrimp and pork wonton soup and decided to get some tonight. And yes, I kept my expectation low, but the wonton definitely exceeded my expectations. They were nicely filled, and the soup was delicious, very comforting on a cold day. Beef chow fun was also pretty good. Would've liked a little bit more sauce with the noodles. We also got there shrimp rice noodle, and their salty fish and chicken fried rice. Both of those we would probably not order again, but would definitely be back for the wonton soup and the chow fun. You can't really beat the price of around less than 40 bucks for all four items. Make sure you bring cash because they're cash only.

Yelp
I was at Harlam's Kitchen the other weekend. I noticed all of its staff... cashiers, cooks... basically everyone have been replaced by a new crew of people. I asked the lady behind the cash register if they changed new owner. She said no. I didn't want to be nosy and ask why everyone is new so I left it as that. Anyway, I'm guessing the owner wanted to make some changes after 30+ years in business. They even have a cash register now. You will get a receipt for your order LOL. It's a good thing! That day I ordered one Dumpling Egg Noodle Soup and one Chicken Chow Fun. Flavors and quality are still on point... they haven't changed which is a good thing. Anyhoo, thought I do an updated review for Harlam's Kitchen and share the latest and greatest. Happy Eating!!!

Yelp
Keep your expectations low, so no surprises. Nestled in the food court next to GW Supermarket, expect no glamor or sparkling clean dining hall. Rest rooms included We all come here for budget yet tasty Oriental fares. Lots of options. For me, it's their HK style noodles and congees. Been occasssionly dining here since late 2000s and have seen the cooking style's consistency. Yesterday's lunch was fried broad rice noodles with beef and pork and shrimp dumplings in soup. Man, it did not disappoint.

Yelp
Harlam's Kitchen is in the food court by GW Supermarket in the Square shopping plaza in Rosemead. The court has seen better days, but the staff is still hustling in the cramped stall. They serve no fuss Cantonese fare in disposable containers. Remember to bring money because it's cash only here. Wonton and BBQ Pork with Noodles Soup: The broth is flavorful, so that's a plus. The egg noodles don't have the expected wiry firmness. The wonton wrappers are a bit on the soggy side, but the pork and shrimp filling is nice and plump. They're also pretty generous with half a dozen wontons. The Chinese broccoli stalks are tender.

Yelp
Cheap eats! When I was given a total on my bill, I thought the cashier made a mistake, lol! Apparently according to my Yelp friends, Harlam's Kitchen are well known for Cantonese style Chinese comfort food at affordable prices! They are correct!! Best sellers are their wonton noodle soup and porridge breakfast. Yum! Am coming back for those dishes! On this visit I got beef chow fun with gravy and dry lo mein with stewed brisket and wontons. It was decent and I have had much better, but you cannot beat the price point here. Most importantly my mom and kids enjoyed the food. 3 stars for the food plus 1 star for PRICE! Cash only, cash only, cash only! Closed on Wednesday. Inside the food court of Great Wall Market.

Yelp
I'm surprised I have not reviewed this place before as it has been my weekly go to childhood place! Love the wonton noodle soup, the crispy seafood noodles, and the congee with pork and preserved egg! Prices has gone up a bit since I have been here as a kid but I think it is still quite reasonable. I did come here just 3 days ago and got a beef noodle and wonton soup along with a beef chow fun. Total came out to be $21 so seems like the average price is about $10.50 a dish now. You really cant go wrong with any of the dishes here because it would taste exactly what you expect if not better... it's pretty much Cantonese comfort food. They also have party trays if you call in and order beforehand. As a kid, my dad, sister and I would come here to eat after Saturday chinese school and then head over to the arcade called Funland right next to Harlam and then end the afternoon getting an Icee one of the corner stores. Those were the good days but now that arcade is an asian supply store. Anyway, overall, love this place!

Yelp
Got the beef chow fun. This last time, pretty bland and noodle was a little soggy. But it's a lot of serving for 11 bucks. Probably feed 3 normal people. If you're eating with some other side dish, you can definitely stretch it out. Definitely a value buy. Food comes out pretty fast. You can sit in the food court area which is ok, or you can to-go and eat at home. This place is located inside GW plaza. Probably one of the busiest spot in this food court.

Yelp
In the Vietnamese food court adjacent to the super market. The food court is always busy - so much so that you need to eagle eye spot the next available chair and hover for a time in swoop else that chair is going to someone else - and this place consistently has the longest time. It's affordable home style food. Served mostly in to-go wear with plastic utensils, even if you dine here. I had the fish congee. The fish was small thin slices - I would have preferred larger pieces that had a better shot of not being over cooked. But this is good food at its most affordable. Not a bad way to start the day.

Yelp
Never ending lines must mean something good is brewing behind that counter. Unfortunately the food here was plain bad. The beef stomach spleen stew was oddly slimy and the taste sort of off. Everything was sort of a blob without different textures. Soft soft and mush. The congee with 1000y/o egg was watery and very msg laden. We also tried the long Chinese doughnut wrapped in rice paper and steamed and this was soft as well (Chinese doughnut was chewy soft and not crispy and the sauce a watered down sweet soy sauce) It's sad to see that the rest of the stores struggle while this one has non stop lines when food is so extremely underwhelming. Never coming back.

Yelp
Harlem's Kitchen is located in the GW Supermarket complex and is located in the food court. The parking lot is huge, but it can be challenging to find parking on the weekends. 4/5 I came early enough to order without waiting on line, so it was very quick and seamless. The waitress was very patient and kind, who took my order. They only take cash. 4.5/5 I ordered Wonton and Beef Stew Noodles to go. When I arrived home, my food was still hot. The Wontons were very flavorsome and had some shrimp, too. The beef and tendons were cooked to perfection as the broth was superb. 5/5
google avatar

Kiona V.

Yelp
Was looking forward to trying out this place. Wonton soup lacked depth. Disappointing. East Garden Restaurant in Chinatown had same Hong Kong fares but bigger, cheaper, tastier, in a real bowl.
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
Wow this place has some fresh rice rolls. They make it in house fresh made to order . As the say it takes a lot of power to cook so when I found out they had the items for $5 I had to check this place out. You can also add a egg to the rice rolls which I'll do next time. The sweet soy sauce is the liquid gold here I look forward to trying the congee and the wonton noodles next

Yelp
Visit Part 3- 5 years later and food tastes just like I remembered. Ordered the crispy noodles with black bean beef- definitely not healthy, but the flavors hit just right.

Momo C.

Yelp
The wontons and dumplings I bought from them yesterday tasted sweet, just like sugar water, super sweet. I told the cashier about it, but no one responded. Especially the tall female cashier was very fierce, saying that the boss was not here and she would handle it. The way to deal with it was to ignore it. I wonder if she is the new boss? I heard that the tall female cashier said that the boss has changed, so it is normal for the taste to change. Is the change so big? Salty to sweet, then why don't I go to the next door to buy sugar water. Oh my God! The service and taste have changed. I won't come again.

Yelp
Best wonton mein I've had in SGV! And if you have a different opinion, then at least agree that it's the best priced wonton mein! For $7.75, you get five large and juicy wontons with some perfectly blanched egg noodles and hot broth. I would also recommend their wonton and stewed beef noodles. Even though you're getting two proteins, they don't skimp on the wonton, you still get five! I love that they give you chili oil and jalapeños in soy sauce when you ask for hot sauce. They're cash-only and no nonsense. SO yummy!

Yelp
Harlam's Kitchen has been part of many childhoods for those who lives in the San Gabriel Valley. Cheap and decent quality fast food. This place is always packed with patrons alongside Hiện Khánh Desserts I've been coming here as a kid and the place quality has been the same, just the pricing has been raised. I always get Wonton Mi and it always taste good. $8.50 for Wonton Mi that'll fill you up just enough.

Yelp
COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. All of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. Some of the staff also wears gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor seating available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my food from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is pretty massive since they share the parking lot with several different establishments including a supermarket. Parking spots are small and tight. Food: I ordered a yang chow fried rice. The BBQ pork, shrimps, carrots, peas, and eggs were so delicious. This is actually one of my go to dishes for Chinese food. Portion is really big, so definitely worth the price IMO. Staff: The staff here are very kind, friendly, and fast. They accept cash.

Yelp
my family's go-to stand in the SGV! I have been going here ever since I was little and the quality has never changed! Food: 6/5 +Beef Chow Fun +Pan Fried Noodles Nothing and nothing beats Harlam's. Authentic hole in the hall Cantonese fast food at its finest. Noodles are freshly made and crisp. Meat is tender and soft. Pair that with their home made chiu chow chili sauce and it's a complete delight to your taste buds. For first timers, I would hands down reccommend the Beef Chow Fun and Pan Fried Noodle. My family always adds a wrapped rice noodle dish that tastes divine with sweet soy sauce as well. Service: 4/5 It's a hole in the wall stand in Square Grocery mart. You can't expect much with service. But as the stand with the greatest line in the square, you already know that the food makes up for it. They close on Wednesday's and make sure to bring cash. Cashier speaks Cantonese and/or English. Wait is approximately 10-20 minutes. I highly recommend eating the dishes fresh right in the plaza but it still takes pretty good to-go!
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
I grew up eating here. My childhood is this little tiny restaurant located right next to the restroom I use to use while waiting for our food. This tiny stall is truly an authentic find. I love that the grocery store is conveniently nearby. There are a few food options in this food court but this one is the gem and I believe is the longest open as well.

Yelp
I tried coming in last month on a Monday to try their beef stew noodle with gravy. I went in and it's closed. No real sign or anything to say when they will reopen or if they are even in business. The phones were ringing nonstop and nobody was there to answer. There was a sign last time that said it was closed on Wednesdays. I come back today a month ish later on a Thursday and it's open! There is still a current sign that says it's closed on Wednesdays, so I guess that is probably still valid. I called in first to make sure someone at least picked up the phone before driving over there. So I recommend you do the same if you want to be sure it's open. I ordered a beef noodle dry (aka #45 beef with fried rice noodle- $9)and beef noodle with gravy (aka #46 beef stew with fried rice noodle- $9.25). It came out to be $20.26. I paid with cash. I'm not sure if they take card or not because I didn't see a sign that said cash only but everyone ordering before me and after me all paid in cash. The dry beef noodle was okay. I felt like it lacked the flavor that you would typically get with this dish. I was expecting more soy sauce like flavors. The noodles were brown so I know there was some sauce that was stir fried in but it lacked any of the flavor. It was a little bit oily but it's also expected with this type of noodle. The noodles were surprisingly still in long pieces when you pick it up with chopsticks. Meaning, the chef that stir fried it knew what they were doing because it was still put together and not all broken up. This dish comes with beef, bean sprouts and a little bit of green onion. The beef had a smoky flavor to it and was tender. The portions were large at about $10, it's a good deal. I also think some of the traditional hot sauce you get at Asian restaurants would go well with this so it can at least enhance the flavor a bit. The beef noodle with gravy was pretty good. There was gravy overflowing in the box which is great because that means there is plenty of opportunity to mix the noodle into the sauce. Flavor wise, it was pretty good, it tastes like the oyster sauce you typically can get at an Asian market but not as salty. This box was decently sized and comes with Chinese broccoli and beef. The noodles in this dish was a little disappointing because it was all broken up. It was the opposite of what I experienced with the dry beef noodle. Perhaps the gravy makes it break up easier? I'm not too sure what happened with the noodles on this one. The Chinese broccoli was a little bitter but the beef was tender and good. If you want to add a bit of spice to it, I recommend getting some hot sauce. I ate mine with the Trader Joe's chili onion crunch sauce. I regret not added it earlier into my meal because it helped add to the dry beef noodle and it gave a nice kick to the beef noodle with gravy. If I had to choose one over the other, I'd pick the beef noodle with gravy even tho the noodles were broken in pieces there was more flavor in dish. Overall, good prices for portions given and a short wait for food to be ready. Pretty average taste but settled the cravings if needed.

Yelp
You can consider this place almost like Cantonese fast food. Quality here isn't exactly restaurant quality but tastes so good! They are sometimes unexpectedly closed but generally you can follow the hours that you see online. Also along with their items on their menu, sometimes available sometimes not. - Crispy noodle with beef (huge portion) 5/5 - Wonton noodle soup ( Not sure what people are talking about but they fill these bad boys with the goods) 5/5

Yelp
I have been coming to this place for CANTONESE fast Togo place recently noticed staffs are all different peoples are working there NOW! I order beef chowmein it tasted like terrible!! I think they changed the ownership !!

Yelp
This place is a hidden SGV staple and gem, and it's been a staple in my family for many, many years. So much so, I remember coming here as a little boy, trying to finish my noodles as fast as possible so I could play at Funland in the space where the home goods store is now. Nostalgia aside, the food and prices here have stood the test of time and are just as good now as they were back then. The portions here are smaller than at most other Chinese noodle places; however, the rich flavors more than make up for that. There's lots of different noodle bowls here with all different kinds of meats, fresh cheung funs with all sorts of fillings, and other comforting Chinese dishes that are not to be missed. I usually come here and get my usual beef stew with wonton noodles. It's right under $9, which feels like an absolute steal these days! I appreciate how they use a thick egg noodle that's not overly cooked and has a nice bite to it. It gives it some room to absorb some of the rich, meaty broth it's in with everything else. The beef stew is plentiful, with lots of very tender beef chunks and soft tendon pieces. The wonton, which they make themselves, are perfectly plump with meat and shrimp. A gai lan veggie is thrown in for good measure, and paired with their AMAZING chili oil (that I absolutely cannot have enough of) makes for a comforting, filling and warm meal for your soul at any time of the day. If you're wanting something cheap and filling, this is the place to go! There's plenty of other small restaurants in the food court that are equally amazing in their own ways, so go check those out if you want something more while you're here!

Yelp
I got the Wonton and bbq pork with noodle soup! Service is very fast, cheap, and they give a good portion :)!! Flavorful and extremely delicious! Must have :)

Yelp
Just stopped by today for lunch! Got 2 orders of beef chow fun, one order of rice roll wrapped fried crueller, and one order of the dumpling noodle soup. My total came out to $29.84. My food was ready to pick up after a few minutes of ordering so it was pretty quick. Before covid, I would come here a lot especially since I was a child. I loved the food inside the food court, everything was affordable and delicious. Now quality downgraded and don't get me wrong, it's still alright but I wouldn't want to come here after eating today. I was expecting everything to be the same, however the noodles in the beef chow fun were all shredded into small pieces and there was no flavor (in cantonese they call it wok hey). The taste was very plain unlike what I always had.

Yelp
I had really high hopes for this place given the reviews and the line that I always see when I get to this food court. After trying this place twice, I will pass the next time I'm there. Pros: - they work hard and turn food out pretty quick. I like the open kitchen concept so you can see them cooking each dish. - the serving size of the dishes were large. It is enough for make a second meal or share with a second person Cons: - the food :( I ordered the crispy noodle with beef and broccoli gravy sauce. The crispy noodles were horrible! They were thin noodles, over cooked, and just drenched in oil. It was pretty disgusting to me. The gravy sauce was just ok, but at least much better than the noodles - communication issues. I totally get that I'm in the SGV. I unfortunately don't speak Chinese so it was hard to communicate. In my second visit, I knew I didn't like the crispy noodle dish, so I looked for something else. It was closer to closing time so they were sold out on some items, but I ultimately ordered the beef chow mein. Within 5-7 mins, the lady calls me to pick up my order. When I opened up everything (I ordered to go), I got the crispy noodles with gravy sauce! You can tell I was extremely disappointed. Overall, I don't plan on trying this place again. Maybe I'll be brave enough one day, especially since they always have a line, but it won't be soon (trying to get this crispy noodle fiasco out of my mind). Since there's many other restaurants there, it's more reasons for me to skip this place. I also decided not to give this place 1 star, but they're obviously doing something right because of the long line.

Ken H.

Yelp
I tried this place many times before and the food was always great until recently. I went this past weekend to buy some crispy noodle and beef chow fun for my kids and the food taste different. I noticed that the regular chefs and employees that work there before was not there the last 2 times I went. I asked if there was a new ownership and the lady that work at the register said no, they are just on vacation for 6 months. The service was great but the food is not as consistent as before.

Yelp
Harlam's Kitchen is one of my family's favorites, we used to come here all the time as kids! Our go-to items are the Youtia Cheung Fun and beef & wonton lomein. The Youtiao Cheung Fun is a Chinese donut with rice sheet roll with sweet soy sauce, everything about this dish is just amazing! Their wontons here are always so juicy and filled with meat & shrimp. The beef in the lomein was tender and soft, and the dishes here tasted just like the ones we had as kids! They're closed on Wednesdays and cash only! For more food recs check out @bunbaosibs on Instagram!

Yelp
Yep, new owners. Food is awful now. Used to come all the time for the beef chow mein. Will never come back.

Yelp
Very upset, went to this place almost 30 years, recently they changed the owner, food is awful and particularly they not honest on the price, no more deals forever

Yelp
My family has been coming here for as long as I can remember. It's a staple for authentic and cheap Chinese food. While grocery shopping next door, we made a quick stop to order some take-out. We ordered the Beef with Fried Rice Noodle ($8.50), Beef Stew with Noodles in Soup ($7), and Congee with Pork and Preserved Egg ($5.95). All great dishes from noodles to congee, fried and in soup! This fed four people with a little leftover, so you get plenty of food. The fried rice noodle was a tad smokey, but you get an entire plateful of noodles. Everything is flavorful and the beef stew was nicely tender. All I'm saying is that there's a reason there's always a line for this spot out of all the other choices in the food court.

Aaron L.

Yelp
They must of recently changed owner, new people working in the front, food does not taste the same. It's actually pretty bad. They even forgot one of my orders. My wife called and complained and all they had to say was they had a new girl and she made a mistake and forgot the order...geez, freaking thanks. So I'm out $7. Never ever coming here again.

Yelp
I can't believe I never wrote a review for Harlam's Kitchen! My family has been coming here for years before it was a popular spot to get some good ol' cheap Chinese eats. All I can say is, you can't go wrong with whatever you order! Anything and everything is amazing but best of all, budget friendly. Their cooking is a nostalgic flashback to the good ol days of when things were simple. You've got the ladies in the front taking orders and the guys in the back cooking up a storm. Definitely enjoy some food from here!

Yelp
Harlams Kitchen is delicious, well priced, and warming. Every positive review is for real. It is in a food court where it is clearly king. The menu is both large and small. It's a lot of different versions of a few types of food. I know that I can eat something and be full, but I genuinely love to order a lot of food.

Yelp
Harlam's Kitchen is located inside the Food Court next to GW Supermarket. There's a lot of people but there are also a lot of people at this plaza so parking can sometimes be hectic. We really wanted some Chinese Donut Roll with Rice Sheet Roll but did not want to get dim sum so we're glad we were able to find this gem. We also got a side of Rice Sheet Roll with Beef and Beef Tripe Lo Mein. Honestly, for the price we paid, the portions were much more than you would get at a dim sum restaurant so you bet we will be coming back here more often. This establishment is also CASH ONLY, so don't forget your $$$. Expect a longish line compare to other restaurants but it moves quick.

Yelp
Parking: plaza parking. If you're lucky with timing, you'll find a spot. Service: A1 Auntie Service Order: wonton noodle soup, dry stir dumpling with a side of soup I don't know what they put in the broth and how they always cook the noodles so al Dante but this is the best wonton noodle place!

Yelp
Been coming here ever since I was little, but never actually appreciated this place until I grew up! This place is the busiest compared to the surrounding restaurants so you know it's good! I love coming here for their wonton noodle soup while my mom likes getting their beef brisket/tendon rice noodles. For about $7 a bowl, they do not skimp on the meat or noodles. They give about 5 wontons and each are big & packed with shrimp and pork. I also like how the food doesn't make you feel parched after. The Chinese donut rice roll also seems to be a popular dish here, but I thought it was just ok. The donut is more soft and doughy than it is crunchy and they only use soy sauce instead of the other sauces used at dimsum. Sauces are self serve on the side and I love using their spicy soy sauce! Since it is in a food court, the tables and environment might seem kind of dirty. But it doesn't bother me! This place is good for cheap, quality comfort food so I will keep coming back. CASH ONLY and closed on Wednesday's

Yelp
I've been coming here since 2005. Love their crispy beef and broccoli chow mein! Huge portions that makes two meals for me! And for only $12!

Yelp
Came by for breakfast the other morning and it was quite tasty! Located inside a food court of an Asian plaza, parking was plentiful upon opening at 9 am. Ordering process can be chaotic as there are crowds of people waiting to pick up their food. It's also cash only! Ordered the beef Chow fun with gravy and it was delicious! Highlight was that there was no bean sprouts, with plenty of gravy, super fresh noodles, and super tender beef! Seating was plentiful in the food court. There are also restrooms next to the shop. $8.5 for breakfast with plenty of leftovers. Cash only!

Yelp
One does not come to a hole in the wall joint like this expecting stellar service, but what you can expect is authentic, delectable HK style cuisine-which is exactly what they deliver (and they do it damn well at that)! We ordered the beef stew with noodles in soup (牛肉麵) and the crispy noodle with gravy (兩麵黃)-both of which had me shook in terms of taste, portion and cost. It easily blows its competitors out of the water in every category. The taste was the best I've ever had outside of HK, the portions were generous and the cost was more than fair. In fact, it was the cheapest HK style meal I've had in LA and easily the most satisfying. Service was fast, efficient and the lady at the register was actually quite nice! But even if she wasn't as other helpers have reported, I'd still give em a solid five stars. THAT'S how good this place is.

Yelp
This spot is low-key but so good. Easy to overlook. They have the best version of crispy noodles. We try a lot of different places and this place hits the spot. They are usually busy during the weekend but the there are more than 1 person taking order so it was quick. The food was ready pretty fast too. The portion is massive. Me and my husband shared this one plate and we were full. The price is very reasonable. It's the food court type of place so you might have trouble finding seats during busy times like weekend. This is best enjoyed right away when it's still crispy and piping hot.

Yelp
Located in the Square Market building's food court, Harlem Kitchen has some limited hours but as far as fast chinese food made to order, it's tough to beat. Normally come here for wonton noodle soup and/or a noodle or fried rice dish, it's hard to beat their pricing and speed. Check their hours, i think they close at 6:30 pm so you need to get their early if you're picking up dinner.

Yelp
The wonton soup is Michelin Star quality with the most frugal price. One spoonful of this soup will make you think twice about this no nonsense food stall in a Supermarket food court. The dumplings are humongous and perfectly balanced; same can be said for the broth. A permanent fixture on my "can eat everyday" list.

Yelp
If you are someone like me who is looking for Chinese comfort food this is the place to go to :) Just remember to bring cash with you ! My family and I have been going to this restaurant ever since I was a little kid. They used to have a big arcade where you win tickets to earn prizes. For those who go here all the time back in the 2000s you know what I am talking about! I usually get the wonton noodle soup consist of 6 generous pump wontons at $7 dollars with noodles that filled with your belly! I add a sriracha because I like it to be kicking fire. Now my to go order is seafood chow fun with a hint of wok flavor and noodles embedded with gravy sauce is a must to try ! If you don't like seafood you can always get the beef gravy with crunchy noodles ! :)
