The Ultimate Guide to Hot Dogs and Sausages in Denver | Eater Denver

"The hot dogs served at Harley’s could also feasibly function as paper weights, given the degree to which they are stuffed full of toppings that range from the typical (Chicago-style) to anything but (there’s a chorizo dog topped with homemade guacamole and an Italian sausage topped with spaghetti). Then there’s the Toga Dog, which consists of a mix of lamb and beef with gyro seasonings on top of a Kobe beef dog." - Paul Albani-Burgio

Google
So many strange and different ways to eat a hot dog.Ordered the Briscket Dog and was not disappointed. The jalapeño ranch dipping sauce for the onion rings was tasty. Much better than ketchup

Monica DeNayer

Google
The best time to eat one of these delicious hot dogs was yesterday. The second best time is right now. Go right now. Don’t live another second not having tried this place. Ed is great, and you gotta try the coleslaw.

Google
Excellent atmosphere, amazingly friendly staff, and delicious hot dogs! I will be coming here again to try some more of their stuff for sure. I got the brisket dog and the ingredients were high quality and super tasty.

Google
Just happened to see this place and thought I'd give it a try.... And so glad I did the BBQ pork dog was amazing. And the staff was super nice, asking how everything taste. Will definitely be back again and add this to my favorite places to eat

Google
This place is a Hidden Gem!! The owner is passionate about his food and it shows! Hands down the best hotdogs I've ever had. Great atmosphere. I will come back often!

Google
Ed is the MAN! The service was extraordinary, our food was fantastic, and we even were lucky enough to get some free samples (thank you Ed!!) … not to mention, the Specials were some very creative and mouth-watering reimagining of your classic hot dog. That was the only downside… there were so many delicious-sounding options, choosing our actual order was nearly impossible! Next time we’re in town, we will definitely come back and try more items on the menu — one day, we’ll have tried every single dog. That will be a glorious day.

Kara Christina

Google
Ed really brought something extra special to the experience. He was so personable and fun, and you can tell he puts a lot of love into this business. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was warm, and the other customers were regulars. We'll definitely be back to try some more dogs. The Spaghetti Dog, Buff Daddy Dog, and the Chili Pie Dog were all winners for sure.

Google
So It's 3:54p on a Sunday and they close at 4pm. I see a guy walk out and I go in. I'm greeted and then I am told that they are closed and not taking anymore orders, yet there is still 5 mins until 4pm. It's a Hot Dog shop. Even if the girl who was wiping clean tables said We have a limited menu because it's close to 4pm that would have been better than turning me away. They even gave the guy a beeper to alert him when his food was ready...definitely after 4pm. It's not cool because I wanted a hot dog for my son...and now I will never come here. Service Is Everything.

Alicia B.

Yelp
First time here. I ordered the Windy City dog and onion rings which were absolutely delicious! I called my order in ahead and was greeted with a smile and my order ready to go. I didn't get to eat inside but the decor and vibe were neat. Looks to be family owned which is awesome. I'll definitely be returning and recommending to others.

Yelp
Great food and friendly owner. We will be back again. Our order included a Buff Daddy dog, Spicy Buddha, and a BBQ Beef Brisket Dog w/ Sriracha Cole Slaw. Our son said "The next time I want a hot dog, it better be Harley's"

Yelp
We've been by this place a few times and finally decided to give it a try. Of all the choices they had on their menu for some reason the spaghetti sandwich called my name so I tried it. The sandwich was everything I hoped it would be although it would have been nice if the cheese was completely melted versus just shredded on the sandwich. Their homemade potato chips were also tasty. They were lightly fried so that the insides still tasted like potatoes - kinda of a happy medium between fries and potato chips. I'm glad we tried it and we may go back again sometime.

Yelp
Harley's was a fun find and their hotdogs were creatively combined and pretty massive. This is definitely not your average hot dog. The staff - she was awesome. She explained everything, offered suggestions and even offered to customize our order. It's always the little things and we really appreciated her. It was a quiet Sunday and just a few other customers were there with us. It's a small place but we didn't feel cramped. We each ordered a dog (of course) and I had to also have a strawberry milkshake. Our order came out quickly and from the cook himself. Happy staff make happy food make happy customers. I regret none of my choices, lol. We'll def be back to try some of their other tasty combos. Who doesn't love trying new flavors with a classic?

Yelp
I've had Harley's saved in my collections for over a year now, so I finally decided that it was time to visit... glad I did! Got there about noon, it was very easy to find too! First thing I did was check out the menu & I finally decided on the Buff Daddy Dog! Putting in my order & paying was effortless. Just went up to the counter, placed my order & the girl behind the counter gave me a cup for self-serve drinks. My kind of place! The Buff Daddy Dog was finished in no more than 5 minutes & was brought to my table from a nice gentleman, the one that probably made it! The Buff Dog was huge! I thought I'd need a fork & knife, but no worries, the toasted Everything bun folded perfectly around my dog & all the toppings! Not one piece of topping fell down, I was definitely impressed!!! I finished off the huge Buff Daddy Dog in probably less time than it took to make it! It was definitely a great choice & a great restaurant to boot! I'll be fitting Harley's into my lunch rotation, it was very clean, the girl that took my order & the guy that brought out my meal, were AWESOME!!!

Yelp
Had the chance to finally try this place out and overall solid experience. Very friendly and helpful staff, food was solid, and comfy seating. Ordered the Windy City Dog with the Potato Nest. Good overall flavors from the hot dog, loved the sour from the pickles, mustard, and bun was high quality. Potatoes were good quality, hot, crispy, and seasoned nicely. Also the jalapeño ranch is a must get sauce!

Briana D.

Yelp
Visiting from California and wanted a good hot dog. Service was amazing, specially Ed who was extremely welcoming and great to talk with. Ambiance was great and show off the personality of the owners. Would recommend!

Bethani C.

Yelp
Must come! Besides the food being a 10/10 the owner Ed is enough to come back. He's so welcoming and friendly. Definitely a must try! The portions are huge and it's a very mom and pop feel. Ed doesn't know a stranger and calls you by your name . Being from the south this places feels like you're right at home. Great food, great location; and great company. Thinking about getting my paychecks directed here by how often I plan on coming

Yelp
We loved our experience at Harley's A Hot Dog Revolution. The owner was there working both the cash register and kitchen. She gave great recommendations and was very attentive throughout the entire dining experience. I have picky family members and every plate was cleaned. It has a fun, somewhat kid inappropriate vibe, but it all fits. Draw on a napkin and hang it in the wall while you wait. A great overall visit. We will definitely return.

Yelp
Another place that we visited because of its yelp ratings and number of reviews. I ordered the brisket dog with fried zucchini. The brisket dog was a special that they had while I came in. It was delicious. The fried zucchini was good too! I could not give them 5 stars though. Despite that fact that my hot dog was delicious it just was not enough to make me want to drive out of my way to come to. It was not the most memorable food experience.

Yelp
This place is so incredible words hardly do it justice. The food is outstanding. The ambiance and service is one of a kind incredible, and overall just being inside you want to stay all night and just enjoy. The owner is a wonderful man who makes you feel like part of the family. SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!
google avatar

Malinda M.

Yelp
These hotdogs are not only yummy, they are also made with the highest quality ingredients. We really enjoyed them along with the onion rings and tots. Super friendly owner. Cute decor and very clean. Plenty of seating. We will be back to try other hotdogs next time we are out that way.
google avatar

Yelp
Hate to insult a local staple like this, but I just don't understand the appeal of a hot dog with so much stuff on it that you can't fit it in your mouth. I got the Chicago dog, and unless you have a massive mouth, you're going to have one bite be all peppers and onions, another bite be all dog, and meanwhile your mouth is getting covered with mustard. Just a bad eating experience. For me, the dream hot dog would be where you can fit all ingredients in your mouth so you can actually appreciate the flavor combos. With that said, the bun was high quality. Fries also were missing a bit of pizazz. Definitely a skip for me.
google avatar

Marisol C.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. Been coming here for a couple years now, unfortunately I live far and can rarely come in. Highly recommend. It's family owned, Ed is awesome. (If you're sensitive pls grow up) The service is great! I love the holy guacamole hot dog and waffle fries!

Miranda P.

Yelp
Food was excellent! The music was great! Ed was a super cool dude and made lots of the great suggestions!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent Hotdog. Ed, the owner is super friendly and informative. I had a dog without a bun, Ed easily accommodated my request. He sold my wife on the special which was a wrapped dog meant for dipping in tomato bisque. She loved the soup, said it was spicy but not too much and wasn't sweet like so many tomato soups can be. We will be returning!

Yelp
Worth the drive from Castle Rock! Amazing service. Delicious food! If you're looking for a delicious dog, look no further than Harley's Hot Dog Revolution in Littleton! My taste buds are still throwing a victory parade. The Kosher Raw Dog was fresh, it was bold, and it was undeniably fantastic. Then came the New York Pastrami Dog. The pastrami was piled high, the mustard was zesty, and the bun? A cloud from heaven itself. Service was swift, the vibe was chill, and the food? Revolutionary! We will be back again for more delicious goodness.
google avatar

Rob V.

Yelp
Ed and crew are still the best hot dogs you could ever imagine. It's customer service the way it used to be!

Yelp
Such a great hot dog spot! We got the Windy City and the Chili Pie. Both were fantastic. Buns were well toasted but not soggy and still soft. Toppings for both were plentiful. We went with our 2 young kids, so we were forced to order a kids meal. Got the chicken nuggets meal, which was a bit of a disappointment. For almost $10, you only get 5 pieces of chicken nuggets and a small portion of tots. Usually my older toddler can share a kids meal with the baby, but this time the baby pretty much finished this whole thing on his own and we had to feed them both again once we got home. I know it's not a chicken place, and that's not what they do or are known for, but if you're going to put something on the menu to try to appease families with kids at least make it either more affordable or more worth the money. For the same amount of money we could've gotten another fully loaded hot dog. Overall, I would recommend this place for the wieners. But plan accordingly if you have anyone in your party that needs to eat something different! Service was very good. Older gentleman taking our order was very nice and came around to check on us once things slowed down a bit.

Yelp
Every once in a while, I get a hankering for a good hotdog. Ran across this place in Littleton. Small six tables, great hotdogs, very friendly staff! They have a huge variety of dogs to choose from so you might have to go back more than once. I tried the Darth lava (I think that's what it was called.), which is a spicy sausage with some excellent toppings. It did not disappoint. Large dog great spice good bun and thoroughly. Enjoyed it. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
This place is in the corner of a strip mall. I drove by thinking it was shuttered, but made a second round of the parking lot and spotted the open sign. Nice little place with funny signs on the walls. Not trendy, but hey, it's a hotdog shop. Ordered a Chicago style dog with a drink and side of fries. Was a bit shocked at the price, coming in at $18. The people there were really nice, and assured me it was worth the price. The hot dog itself was really good, on a nice sized roll, and it had all the delicious toppings. The fries were a bit small and underwhelming, and it came with a small side of ketchup. All in all, it was a good meal, but a bit spendy.

Kristina S.

Yelp
This is a family owned business! Ed and Emma are very kind and open to new comers! Had an amazing Polish dog with extra sauerkraut! Had a side of fried pickles! Every thing tasted freshly made, soft with the perfect crunch! Would recommend 100%!

Yelp
Came here for the first time and met Ed, wow what a respectable owner. Treats his customer with great care which is rare to find these days. I noticed a lot of regulars coming in which just shows how great the food and owner is. I ordered the Windy City Dog and the Death Vader, WOWOW they were amazing. Anyone needing their glizzy fix needs to come get one of these thangs. Small but cozy space, with some fun little decorations. It's a great spot for families or a quick lunch break. Highly recommended spot!

Yelp
My wife and I were visiting from Dallas and needed a quick lunch before our afternoon plans. We found Harley's on Google and decided the menu looked tasty enough to try. When we got there, we were immediately greeted by the owner Ed. He showed us to the menu, gave us the daily specials (2 of which are in this photo), and was incredibly friendly the whole time. We decided on the Adult Mac n Cheese dog and the buffalo daddy dog with waffle fries. He took our order, gave us our cups and let us know to sit anywhere and he'll bring it all out. Within only a few minutes, we had hot, fresh, food brought right to our table. Fries were incredibly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The dogs had the perfect snap and perfectly seasoned (seemed made in house). The toppings were all out of this world with perfect sauces. I can't recommend this place enough!

Shawna B.

Yelp
Hot dogs were just ok. Nothing to rave about. Lots of bread lots of seasoning expensive for what it was

Tom P.

Yelp
On Valentine's Day my wife and I went to Harley's. It was so much more than just gourmet hot dogs! The soup of the day was a creamy tomato bisque with a hint of jalapeño. Absolutely delicious. Harley's is family owned and operated. We were welcomed warmly by the owners and left as friends.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped into this place that I would kind of consider a hole in the wall place! Found this restaurant from a TikTok video and so glad I tried it out! I had the Peppy Pizza Dog. The guy at the register I believe was named Ed and he was super nice! If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely stop in again
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
So delicious. Better than I could have dreamed up, whatever that means for hotdogs. The hotdog bun is delicious, fluffy, everything bun, lightly crisped just right. Hot dog itself was great. Waffle fries were cooked perfectly as well. Will be back stat.

Yelp
Fantastic hot dogs Cool place Friendly service Unique menu items Enjoyed every minute of it It's a little hard to find cause it's tucked away in the corner .... But don't let that stop u
google avatar

Yelp
7/4/24- FIrst time trying this place. The server was nice. The hot dogs are pricey, but worth it because of how unique they are. Like I got the surf and turf one that had shrimp on it. They also have a real bird as a mascot for the place. Parking can get hard since this lot is busy from the other business in the shopping center.
google avatar

Lisa N.

Yelp
Came here around 3pm on a Saturday and there weren't many people (probably about a handful sitting outside) and were greeted by Ed when we came in. The menus are located on the tables and you order at the counter. Ed was super nice and helpful and very easy to talk to as well. He got our food out super quick and made sure everything was great! I got a surf and turd hot dog ($9.95) and made it a meal (+$4.95) with a large drink and waffle fries. The hot dog and the waffle fries were both amazing! The hot dog that came with it had a spicy kick and it was the first time I've had a hot dog like this. The shrimp made it hard to close it so I ate it on the side but it was really good! The waffle fries were crispy and seasoned and I would highly recommend it if they have it on their specials menu. They had napkins on the wall full of drawings from past customers and lots of funny signs posted around and in the bathroom as well. The place itself is small but the flavor hits big. I would definitely recommend this place and I would come back if I'm ever in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
Tiny restaurant in the corner of a strip mall. Menu and decor consists of a lot of puns and enough flies for a horse barn. Service is slow on the order and pretty fast on the delivery. Had Chicago dog not even close dog small bun large more garnish than dog. Waffle fries very tasty. Waste of time you can do better
google avatar

Yelp
Found this little place on Yelp after visiting downtown Littleton. Let's see, I am a hotdog fan and I do enjoy trying new places that try to implement new designs for their dawgs. We were greeted with outstanding service, literally seemed like we were regular customers even though it was our firat time here. The Surf n Turf Hotdog ($9 + $5 meal) and BBQ Pork Hotdog ($10 + $5 meal) was delicious. The onion rings on the side were fried to the right temperature and quality, and the sweet potato fries were hella crispy (extra points for the crispyness). The atmosphere was great. A small little place. The table area could be a bit bigger since it felt like I was trying to squish in the booths. But there were a lot of local signs and puns laying everywhere. As long as you have a good sense of humor and don't mind the mild obscenity. I'll be back!
google avatar

Allie R.

Yelp
Ed is a hell of a guy slinging some fantastic hot dogs. I had been craving a good Chicago dog and one Sunday after playing golf I Yelp searched hot dogs and Harley's came up. We don't frequent this side of town too often and I had heard of this spot before so off we went. On the way over I read the menu off to hubby so we were already prepared to order when we got there. Ed talked me into the onion rings to go with my Windy City dog (aka Chicago dog) and I'm glad he did. The onion rings were amazing as was the dog. My hubby got the pastrami dog which was basically a Ruben on top of a hot dog. Both were nothing short of amazing. The price was high but worth it for the quality and service from Ed and his staff. We would absolutely come here again and told all our non Yelp friends to to check Harley's out.

Yelp
My husband said he wanted a hot dog so I found this place on Yelp and we made our way to Littleton to try it. It was about a 20 minute drive from where we were. Looking at this place, it appears to be just another strip mall causal restaurant but Harley's is anything but ordinary! The menu has beef hot dogs, polish sausages, brats, andouille sausages, and italian sausages topped with pulled pork, pastrami, gyro meat, pepperoni, ham, roast beef and even fried shrimp! And they're served on toasted everything buns and garlic buttered buns! We got the chili pie dog - beef dog with chili, melted cheese, onions, Fritos, and jalapeño - and the Eddie spaghetti dog - Italian sausage smothered in pasta, marinara sauce, and mozzarella. They were both excellent! I haven't had spaghetti between buns before but it worked! We also tried the hand cut fries, which were very good. A couple tasted a little undercooked but I could overlook it. The Texas straws, which were deep fried seasoned jalapeño peppers and onions, were addictive. The owner, Ed, was so welcoming and funny! He keeps it all in the family with his daughter serving as the Manager. This place does so well I'm sure because of the great food but the ratings most certainly reflect the hospitality of Ed! He told us they were the #1 rated restaurant in Colorado on Yelp. Definitely check them out
google avatar

Patricia D.

Yelp
I love when I see a family business. The cashier was holding her baby, and I assume they're related to the man who delivered our meal. There a fun urban decor that matches the eclectic hot dog diner food. I ordered the Eddie Spaghetti, but also sampled the BBQ dog. Both were excellent z the fries were VERY good. This was a great taste of Littleton!

Liz R.

Yelp
"This place is better than the galaxy and better than anything you've ever eaten!" - 6 year old ... and I whole heartedly agree! Kind service! Owner was great. Such a small whole in the wall type vibe, funky fun and delicious!

Yelp
Hidden a gem in the strip mall to say the least.Easy to understand why it was a 5 star great service and great environment. We ended up over here with about 15 of us from a baseball tournament. Ed and Team kicked butt very friendly and had the answers to our questions. My two sons got the kids dogs (not pictured) with Tater tots and drinks. My wife got the Chili pie dog and house made chips with a spicy ranch sauce. I tried both and they were delicious. I was lucky enough to try one of the chef menu items unfortunately I don't remember what it was called but it is pictured with the waffle fries. It was great had a lot of flavor and I liked the spice. I really appreciate the great attitude and friendly environment even with a bunch of us rushing in. I will definitely be visiting again and if your in the area swing in to this hidden gem. Great job Ed.

Yelp
On a quest to find a world class Chicago dog, we found Harley's. And we are thrilled with this place, the food, the vibe, the incredible service, ALL of it! Great interaction with Ed, the owner, who made on-point recommendations. We ordered three different dogs, all grilled. They had outstanding flavor as did the sides, potato nests and fried zucchini. The sauces were delicious: spicy mayo, jalapeno ranch. Loved all the fun decor and the upbeat classic rock music. Can't wait to introduce friends to Harley's. Thanks for giving us a new favorite place to grab a bite!

Samantha S.

Yelp
Don't let the price tag scare you ,,, the hotdogs are phenomenal. The variety of the selection at first can be overwhelming, but you'll soon find your favorite and you'll be coming back over and over. This family owned business with family values is what makes this restaurant a neighborhood icon.
google avatar

Jim N.

Yelp
This place is the real deal! Great service and the food is top notch. If you want a really great hot dog and great atmosphere go visit this establishment. The owner genuinely cares about the patrons and you can tell. Pretty big variety of different hot dogs and other things the menu is way more than just dogs.
google avatar

Peter G.

Yelp
Best hot dog place in the world? Might be. They are very, very serious about getting it right. The have buns made locally, and toast them to perfection. The hot dogs are made to order by a local company. The crazy combos they serve are all over the map, but carefully constructed. The sides I've had were all good, and the onion rings are my favorite. You have to love the little mom and pop restaurants, where they are maniacs about quality.
google avatar

Yelp
Harley's has been a staple of my childhood, I moved away for a couple of years and now that i'm back I had to stop by, Nothing's changed Same amazing service, same amazing vibe of the shop, and of course the food is to die for! Harley's is a 5 star business for a reason
google avatar

Brianna T.

Yelp
I'll be the first to tell you hot dogs aren't my first choice. And if I am going to eat a hot dog it has to be special, unique, different than just your bun, meat, and ketchup. I was so surprised to find a hot dog joint with as many reviews as Harleys has AND with as high of rating. I thought to myself "there's no way a hot dog place is that good". I went out of my way to try Harleys and I'm glad I did, I was proven wrong. The location is in a strip mall but they have some indoor and outdoor seating which is nice since I had my dog with me. Another benefit of being in a strip mall is that there is ample parking. I believe the owner took my order and he was very personable and friendly. He made me feel like a long time customer. Which I think is one of the reasons people like this place so much. We ordered the Toga Dog and the Windy City Dog with some fried pickles and onion rings. Originally I thought the Toga Dog was going to be my favorite but the Windy City Dog was PERFECTION. It just worked. All the flavors complimented each other so nicely and the relish was so good. My only complaint is that since it is loaded up with so much goodness, it is messy! I spilled mustard on my shirt, going to ask for a bib next time, haha! The Toga Dog was a close second and so unique. I've never seen a gyro hot dog before, have you? Definitely a must try. The fried pickles were excellent, be sure to try these if you are a fried pickle fan. The spicy dipping sauce for them was a great touch as well.
google avatar

Alisa J.

Yelp
This place was so good and I loved the hot dog I got. The place was pretty empty at 6 pm on a Saturday and at some point we were the only ones there. I had the Windy City dog which had so much on it that I ate it more like an open faced sandwich. The radioactive green relish was really off putting but it was good. The hotdog meat they use is so good and buttery. Definitely the best dog I've had. I also loved my onion rings and got the spicy jalapeños ranch to go with. Would definitely go back again.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
The food is always fantastic, the owners and proprietors always fun and friendly, the establishment always clean. Tonight my husband and I went here to round out our date. Because of a food allergy, they made a special wrap! Pastrami wrapped around cheese and kraut! So good and so accommodating! I can't wait to go back and see them rise to the next order challenge I bring
google avatar

Yelp
Soooo good! Such a cute little local spot. If you want to support a nicely ran local restaurant for a quick easy and tasty lunch - this is the spot! I literally thought every creative dog was great sounding! Will definitely be checking this place and the other menu items out again.
google avatar

Kristin ..

Yelp
At least 4 years of being my kids favorite restaurant ever. He could eat here daily if I let him and/or it was closer. I tried the Toga dog this time and it was fabulous. Buff Daddy is up next time I think.

Yelp
We were in the Littleton area today with our dog and decided to look for a place to grab lunch somewhere with a patio. Based on Yelp reviews, we decided to try Harley's for the first time. This turned out to be the best decision we made all day. We arrived precisely at noon, it was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. We were able to just walk in and order. The cashier (possibly the owner) welcomed us and warned due to low staff turnout, the food would take longer than normal to come out. It ended up only taking about 15 minutes, our food arrived hot and fresh. We ordered the chilli pie dog with onion rings and the death Vader with fries. Everything was delicious. The owner came and chatted with us and even gave our dog a hot dog. We are looking forward to going back again soon.
