Portland’s Hottest Spots for Vegan Brunch Right Now | Eater Portland

"In addition to its original cafe among the boutiques and thrift shops of Hawthorne, Harlow now has a second location on NW 23rd, channeling the same homey, vintage-chic vibes accented by leafy plant. The daily menu includes a handful of gluten-free brunch dishes, like mushroom scallion biscuits with tempeh gravy and roasted veggie-spinach-kale scramble drizzled with chipotle cashew hollandaise. While Harlow offers eggs on some dishes, vegans can opt for smoky tempeh or seasoned jackfruit instead. Both restaurants offer indoor and outdoor dining, online ordering, and delivery." - Waz Wu

While visiting Portland, my girlfriend and I were both wanting a quick pick-me-up snack that was healthy so we decided to stop by here after walking by it. The interior is nice and seems like a great place to have a chat with a friend or get some work done. The Sea of Blue was underwhelming. I understand it’s a health-focused place but it tasted like 3 blueberries were crushed in a cup of water. In my opinion, definitely not worth +$10. The cashier seemed disinterested and was not really friendly.

Google
This is my second time coming to this cafe with my wife and both times we had a great experience. We ordered two smoothies (matcha and super food) which were very good. When we come to Portland we definitely like coming back to this spot.

Google
The restaurant is all vegetarian and has a good variety of filling entrees, sandwiches l, soups, salads and smoothies. My wife and I tried the banh mi sandwich, utopian kale salad and chili. All were great.

Google
This is a great place for either coffee, a smoothie, breakfast or any time of the day meal or hang out. The atmosphere is very beautifully decorated and lively music playing in the background. The service was outstanding, very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing and delicious. We ordered the southwest tofu scramble and the Avocado bagel, both were very yummy. We also had the Pink Flamingo smoothie, Moondrop Mocha coffee, and the Harlow Mushroom Steamer coffee. Everything was very delicious. We will definitely come back again.

Nice soup , salad and sandwich options. Ambience is also very good and relaxing . We have discovery this place by walking on the street and decided to try.

Google
Harlow offers a wide diverse Vegan menu with pancake items to sandwiches and pasta dishes. My partner and I both ordered the Avocado Bagel, with a toasted bagel topped with Avocado, greens and some roasted peppers. The bagel was quite good, with a tangy bite. Our son and his partner both ordered the Pumpkin Pancakes with an Apple Compote served with syrup. They did enjoy the pancakes but mentioned a strange after taste, thinking a sweetener, not sure. The restaurant is quite small so it's a bit of a challenge to find a place to sit when crowded. Service is excellent.

Google
A casual vegetarian and vegan dining place. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because the coffee wasn’t good and the sandwich bread I had was too oily, I took the chickpea “Tuna” salad which was delicious out of the bread and ate it without the bread. The pesto grilled cheese wasn’t the best either. The chili was very good and the mushroom scallion biscuit was delicious. I would like to go back and try other dishes….. will see 🤷🏼‍♀️

Google
I love Harlow as much as anyone, but feeling a bit bummed to have spent $14+ on this quesadilla. A large portion of it is practically just tortilla.. I’ve only been to the east side location and was stoked to get an old favorite, but meh. </3

Yelp
So nice to have a place that's dedicated gluten-free, and its dairy-free menu and attention to other dietary restrictions make it a go-to for me and my friends, who all have our own autoimmune disorders and sensitivities It's amazing how a lot of flavor is created with simple ingredients; i especially notice that with the pesto garden scramble, which is a go-to if I want something really filling. The tofu banh mi is another favorite. I'm so impressed with the gluten-free baguette--soft yet able to support the sandwich contents (until the sauce makes it too soggy, but that's not the bread's fault). the only dish i've been disappointed with is the betty bowl. i think that should just be classified as a salad when very little beans and rice are incorporated and it's mostly veggies. the sea vegetables also threw me off but maybe others would like i like their smoothies and matcha too. visited harlow when i was just visiting portland as a tourist and knowing portland had multiple gf options like this was one of several factors that helped me decide portland was the place for me to live

Yelp
I found Harlow through Yelp and I am so glad I did! I needed a break from the usual food options like pizza and burgers. I was looking for veggie filled goodness and that's exactly what I found at Harlow. I ordered the pesto garden scramble. It had quinoa, farm fresh eggs scrambled with seasonal vegetables, roasted yams, potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms, & kale with a walnut basil pesto. I opted out of the roasted walnuts on top. The serving size was a lot larger than I expected. It is a splittable dish. I enjoyed all of the different flavors and textures in this bowl. The pesto was a great sauce for all of the veggies and eggs. I loved this bowl! I also ordered the flamango smoothie. It came with strawberry, mango, banana and almond milk. It was refreshing. The interior of Harlow is really cute and inviting. It has lights, plants, and wooden tables. There is also bar style seating. Parking is street parking and we were lucky to park right in front. The employees did not greet us or say much to us except take our order. I loved the food at Harlow and would definitely return. It's a great option for vegan, gluten-free, and healthy food!

Yelp
As a gluten-free pescatarian, I love that I can peruse the whole menu! The biscuits and gravy are my go-to brunch item, featuring New Cascadia biscuits. I have also enjoyed the honey lemonade and the adaptogenic mushroom hot chocolate, although the latter could use some sea salt to enliven the palate. My spouse enjoyed his avocado on a toasted everything bagel, and we both enjoy the Missionary Chocolates cookies for sale. Friendly staff. Grab a table on the back patio if you can.

Yelp
Food here was amazing. I truly have no words for how good it is. My friends and i came here two days in a row. We all came from seattle and no vegan/vegetarian restaurant here could compare. Also if anyone if turned off by it being gluten free it truly is not even noticeable i didnt even realize until my second visit. Service is quick and its not too expensive. We def want to come back on future trips

Yelp
Only ordered some juices here: Orange Juice and Clear Eyes. The Clear Eyes is carrot, apple, orange juice. It was pretty sweet, but delicious. The orange juice definitely tastes fresh-squeezed. The service was fast and friendly. The ambiance was clean and upscale.

Yelp
Gluten free review: Welcome to funky, fun, good feeling Portland! This place is fun and feels friendly. They were very knowledgeable about my allergies and when they didn't know, they were happy to look it up. No making you feel bad at all! They were happy to help. Both meals were delicious! Thank you Harlow for your along food for everyone!

Yelp
I've been eating out so much that it's that time again to watch what I put in my body. I decided that I needed more greens in my life, so I thought I would pop into one of Portland's more popular plant based cafes and juice bar. I ordered the Betty Bowl with their house made lemon ginger dressing. The Betty Bowl is grain based (quinoa or brown rice) but full of kale. This bowl definitely met my expectations in my health food checklist and tasted great. I also ordered a smoothie to go with my meal, which really brightened my day. With food like this, I can be converted to a vegetarian. Lol, I am not going to though, there's still too many food options in Portland to try. If you feel the need to replenish your greens or at least feel good about what you put in your body, I recommend Harlow.

Yelp
This place has some unique and healthy food options. Not many protein options besides eggs but salads and grains dishes are seasoned well and supplemented with tasty sauces. Smoothies are also good. I tried the pink flamengo smoothie, which was good. It didn't blow me away but it was a good simple smoothie. I also got the urban bowl and miss read the menu. I wish it had some grains in combination with the greens but it was a healthy food option for the area. My wife's food choice, the pesto green scramble, was better. If I were to go back, I would try another scramble or get that pesto scramble dish. Good luck with the street parking when visiting this location!

Yelp
An amazing option for vegan and gluten free option! I was able to get dairy free yogurt with gluten free granola and topped with fresh fruits in season (banana and blueberries). Love that they layered the bowl (granola, yogurt, granola, fruit) so that I could actually get to a little bit of every kind with every bite.

Yelp
Wonderful order at the counter, food brought in a jiffy, homemade and tastes like it is prepared with passion and love, wonderful period music at a nice low volume, quiet, plenty of seating opening at counter or tables. Bus your own table and serve yourself water and take out boxes. Prices reasonable and quality healthy food . EAT THE BISCUIT!!!! And try the bowls and smoothies and breakfast!! So many CHOICES!!!

Yelp
Came here recently for brunch on a Sunday and it was pretty busy but the line seemed to move fairly quickly and there were menus by the door so we could peruse while we waited. We ended up getting a few things to share and the stand outs for me were the pesto garden scramble and the banana walnut pancakes. We got eggs and tempeh (the tempeh is delish!) on the scramble and it was so good and quite large. For the pancakes we added a side of peanut butter which I highly recommend it goes so good with the banana. I also got a chai which had a really nice flavor but was a little watery. Took a while for food to come out but it did seem busy so I didn't mind. Cute space but not very big so not great if you have a big group we ended up pushing two tables together so we three could sit together. There's a parking lot right behind it if you can't find street parking on 23rd as well.
google avatar

Yelp
I love their scrambles with tempeh and their parfait! It's a cute spot with a chill vibe. One of the few places I can eat out at and feel like I got a tasty meal that was mostly healthy and will fuel me for the day.

Yelp
I love Harlow NW!! The atmosphere is happy and vibrant, making it the perfect spot for a great meal. The food is absolutely delicious! Every dish is bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. You can tell that they use high-quality ingredients and put a lot of care into their cooking.
google avatar

Yelp
Flavorful hearty vegan food. I went to Prasad 7 years ago and recognized some of the dishes, glad to find out the restaurant is by the same owner and enjoyed the same curry dish! The curry is bursting with flavor with steamed kale and veggies on a bed of brown rice. Great way to enjoy veggies! The Mac and Cheese has a bit of tangy flavor with lots of seasoning. The Liquid Sunshine with OJ, mango, pineapple, and coconut oil was a bit bland while my niece seem to enjoy the Matcha Do About You. Will be back when I'm in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
For context of my review.... I'm not a vegetarian. Though I do love a good power foods bowl and like to eat healthy, flavorful vegetarian dishes. I've eaten at vegetarian / vegan establishments before and found dishes so terrific I come back for them. This didn't happen for me at Harlow. We needed an early dinner before catching a flight and stopped by for something. Honestly, I wasn't too excited to order, because I wasn't in the mood for a smoothie and nothing else really called to me. I ended up ordering the pesto garden scramble with jackfruit. I love pesto! At first, I was enjoying the meal all right. But about 1/2 through I couldn't eat anymore. It just didn't come together for me like other bowls I've had of a similar vein. Maybe it was the jackfruit not blending well with the pesto, the kale was nearly raw. Maybe it's just me. My friend ordered the utopian dream salad and she commented that the noodle base was tough and needed to have been cooked more. I'd try a smoothie here, but other than that it's not my kind of place. Vegetarians/vegans likely have a whole different take on the place, so if that's you, give their reviews more weight. As for the dining experience, ambiance was fine. It's fast casual. Order your food, then sit. They bring your food out to you. Staff was pleasant enough.

Yelp
The ambience of this place was super relaxing and great to enjoy a healthy bite! Their costumer service was great and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. The only thing is that their waiting time cant be a little long. The plants aesthetics was cute.
google avatar

James C.

Yelp
Everyone was friendly and the food was beyond delicious . Plant based heaven. Doesn't disappoint

Yelp
Finally a quesadilla worth the money. I often see quesadillas on menu that seem rather pricey, for some cheese and tortillas but this one was full of veggies, soyrizo, and came with a yummy cashew cheese sauce. It tasted delicious going down, but for whatever reason it did leave me with a sour stomach, which is odd for a vegetarian place. What I loved was their housemade soda. It was refreshing.
google avatar

Kate K.

Yelp
Cute spot! My mom and I visited on the recommendation of a Lyft driver, and it seemed like the perfect fit when we were craving something healthy during a junk-laden vacation. Harlow seems initially a little overwhelming/intimidating, with high prices, cool staff, and a vibey aesthetic. But the food was great! I got the tofu bahn mi, which was flavorful and filling; she got the Mighty Bowl, with beans, quinoa, and spinach, and promptly declared she "would eat this every day." Everything was super fresh, the staff was really friendly, and it was a nice, low-key hang which we ate healthy, flavorful food and reenergized after a long day.
google avatar

hari p.

Yelp
Got the walnut chorizo wrap. Maybe a teaspoon of walnuts and a heaping pile of vegan cheese. I am not a vegan and I find daiya vegan cheese inedible. They were generous with the cashew sauce which was kind, but said sauce seemed very watered down in comparison to what I had a few years ago at the hawthorne store. Basically I ate half, felt depressed, and the remainder is still in my car.
google avatar

Crystal L.

Yelp
Eh don't waste your money. Fifteen dollars for a bowl of lettuce and half of an avocado. So not worth it. The service was fine. The entire experience is just so blah. But rock on if that is your jam. Not mine so I won't be back.
google avatar

Yelp
I have celiac disease so definitely appreciate places like Harlow that provide safe gluten free food. And the food is decent. Not amazing but good. However tonight we walked in at 6:55pm (the door says they are open until 8pm). They told me that they are closing at 7:05pm. What restaurant closes at 7:05pm? I mean really? Truth is that they didn't want us to sit down and they said they could just do take out and only bowls. Yeah, no thanks. This is what service has come to in our post-pandemic world. So, my advice these days is to call before going. You absolutely cannot trust their posted hours.
google avatar

Jonathan L.

Yelp
The staff are absolutely wonderful! Great location. Remember to pay for parking during the hours of 8 AM to 7 PM on weekdays and Saturdays. (Not sure about Sunday) My Tumeric Golden Latte was very good - could have been hotter, but that's a personal preference. However, I'm a cookie freak and the trail cookie was crumbly dry and tasteless - super disappointing. Nevertheless, a good overall experience and I do recommend both Harlow NW and Harlow on Hawthorne.
google avatar

Chelsea J.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite plant based places in town. If you're gluten free, this is going to be your new favorite spot on Portland. The atmosphere is so cute and cozy, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Try the biscuits and gravy - it's delicious.
google avatar

Megan L.

Yelp
5/2023 Update: I went back to try their hot chocolate cacao and a sunshine smoothie. The hot chocolate was awesome, and you can really taste the purity of the ingredients. The sunshine drink was also delicious, with the basil adding a nice touch to the freshness of the pineapple/orange/mango combo. Full disclosure, I did receive a gift card as encouragement to try this place again, and I'm glad I did.
google avatar

Autumn P.

Yelp
Just stopped in to get some breakfast to go, they have some delicious plant based options and the staff was delightfully pleasant.
google avatar

Jazz A.

Yelp
I feel like Harlow has a lot going for it. When you walk in you are right away greeted by a countertop with a large menu overhead. As well as menus accessible by the door. I've never felt rushed to order at this location. They have lots of options to choose from, food and Juices including smoothies. Their pesto sauce is my favorite thing on the menu, I'm a vegan and I have no problem ordering here. It is on the more expensive side, but most restaurants on 23rd are pretty expensive in my opinion. I would definitely suggest trying out this location, The portion sizes are absolutely humongous, and the food makes you feel good while you're eating it. Lots of greens, quinoa, green sauces, etc. If you're somebody who enjoys more of an earthy flavor, I think this location would be great for you.
google avatar

Hanna S.

Yelp
Healthy delicious food. Smoothie options are a mix of popular mixes to some unique options. Not too sweet and yet flavorful Vegan and vegetarian options in food and drink. No dairy milk means no up charge for almond and oat milk. They may make their almond milk in house. Plenty of seating inside and some outdoor tables. Food is so good. See menu. We love the salads and bowls both for breakfast and lunch. (Even take home for dinner later ) Kind stuff. Helpful with questions. Though didn't seem to have good answer or as much patience when I asked about the chai- which can vary from spicy to traditional like typical Indian chai - milky, thr flavors etc. since I couldn't get clarity on it we skipped it. Great location on 23rd in cool Nob hill Smoothies can take a bit if busy but worth it. We return here every time we are back in Portland
google avatar

Jim B.

Yelp
Outlaw scramble with eggs was great and very filling. Wonderful! Will order again. Wife had banana walnut pancakes. Kinda heavy. Not light n fluffy yet just ok. Too heavy. Ordered oat milk but they came back n suggested almond milk instead cuz the oat milk was "little funny". I very much respect that. Thank you. We will definitely be back and order some other great looking food bowls.

Yelp
French press decaf **** Walnut chorizo quesadilla ***** very tasty Chips and salsa ... standard with blue corn chips*** Juices

Yelp
Excellent vegan-friendly spot. The options for vegans are endless, which is hard to find. They also have plenty for non-vegans- the Pesto Scramble was very yummy. I love a healthy but great-tasting breakfast. I wish they had more coffee latte options though.
google avatar

Jillian M.

Yelp
I can't lie. I'm not anti vegan, I'm just not someone seeking it out. We had friends in town who are. They specifically asked to go to Harlow (hmm..ok?). Parking was surprising easy on a Saturday. We went inside and order quickly. Not super familiar with the choices, they were friendly and helpful. You order at a cashier and they bring your food to you. Very easy breezy service expedience.
google avatar

Derek D.

Yelp
I was looking for some fresh food for lunch as I went to shop around 23rd Ave, and Harlow turned out to be the perfect spot. I opted for the Pesto Garden Bowl with tempeh, because honestly I love tempeh but it can be hard to find it good sometimes. (You also have the choice of eggs or jackfruit instead of tempeh.) I loved the combination of pretty much the whole bowl, including the mushrooms which I'm not usually a fan of. The pesto mixed well to give everything a nice flavor, and I finished off feeling great about what I just ate! The counter service concept was perfect so I could order and find a seat without having to wait too long. It's a nice trendy spot to grab a meal in between shopping or errands. The smoothies looked really good, if only I wasn't already so full from the healthy portion of the main meal.
google avatar

Yelp
If you want to feel a little less guilty about your meal Harlow is a good spot to check out! We were walking around the area when a doordash driver told us if we haven't had Harlow we need to try it ASAP! We didn't try it at that moment but came back a couple months after to see if it was worth it. The space itself is super cute and there are some nice tables indoors. They have a clean looking spot and the open windows bring in plenty of light and opportunity for people watching as you wait for your food. This time around we tired the Harlow mac (recommended) and RETROSPECTION Smoothie (almond butter, cocoa nibs, mint, banana). The harlow mac is not your standard creamy mac as you do have some veggies included. I know... not everyones' cup of tea but it worked for me! The sauce paired well to mellow out some of the bitterness of the kale. I am a kale gal though so I enjoyed it. As for the smoothie I expected it to be a little more nutty and decadent but the mint was the key flavor I tasted. It was OK but would prefer to try other smoothies next time. I will say after trying both for our meal it felt really light and felt energised after. Definitely on the healthier side of the scale for their menu which is a nice option to have in the area. I will say to be sure to check their hours and socials. We did the last time we wanted to visit but they were already closed. Had the same experience at the Hawthorne location where we were going to go for an early dinner but they were already closing which didn't align.

Yelp
Smoothies, and the most delicious bowls! We eat here often! I am a huge fan. It does get busy, but they get through the line pretty fast - and that doesn't interfere with a warm welcome and excellent food. I think my first time was about 4 years ago and I just keep coming back. They've got a lot of indoor seating and a few small tables outside. No parking in front (Hawthorne) but it's so worth it.

Nikky G.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place and support a local small business, but my experience at Harlow has disappointed me on multiple occasions. The staff is rude and aloof - Instead of fulfilling orders, they're casually chatting and texting on their phones, no sense of urgency at all. I've inquired nicely about my smoothie and the person rolled their eyes at me. Smoothies often take 30 minutes to make, I've even waited up to 45 minutes once. Food takes almost an hour. And that's during off-peak hours when they weren't busy... yikes!
google avatar

Eddie L.

Yelp
sooooo delicious. food was insanely fresh. they had lots of bowls sandwiches and salads and soups with lots of healthy juices. everything was fairly priced and came out fairly fast. has a very cozy vibe and is nice and bright for a meet up. big drink selection as well with juneshine kombucha and coffee
google avatar

Brandy W.

Yelp
In an effort to find a spot with distanced or heated outdoor seating with vegan options, we happened upon this place. We found a table all the way at the far end of the restaurant, very distanced from the counter and the other table. We wouldn't even see a single other table. It was perfect for us who aren't so sure about eating indoors right now. All workers were masked and all people entering and ordering were too. Very respectful. The food options were incredible. I loved the chili topped with fresh herbs and jalapeño cashew cream and salad I ordered. Great ambiance, great food.
google avatar

Marie M.

Yelp
A friend of mine and I were in Portland for a meeting and stopped by this place one evening. We didn't realize they closed at eight, which explains why they probably weren't so jazzed to see us pop in around 730. Nonetheless, they served up some delicious food! I had a delicious vegan mac & cheese dish (Hawthorne Mac) with kale, as well as the very tasty Superberry smoothie. I really enjoyed sitting outside in this cute neighborhood. I know they think we were crazy to want to sit outside because Portland was going through a heat wave, but being from Texas we were OK with it. This is a really delicious place with really good vegan and vegetarian options. I will definitely go back the next time I go to Portland, and I'll make sure I get there at a more reasonable hour.
google avatar

Penny S.

Yelp
I did not enjoy my food here. They are trying too hard to make "healthy" vegan & vegetarian food. You don't haven't sacrifice flavor if you know how to do it right. I had the wild mushroom stroganoff with tempeh. They compensated for sour cream by putting so much lemon juice that the sour taste overwhelmed the dish. The tempeh was almost inedible. It was like trying to chew tree bark. The huge pieces were so tough and didn't taste good. My friend got the biscuit & gravy with roasted veggies. She could only eat the veggies. The "biscuit" was a softball-sized dry lump that she left on her plate. Another friend got the quesadillas that were homemade but they didn't look very good. I think the chef(s) must really lack cooking skills. The menu is kale-heavy. Why do these places think they have to put kale in everything in order to appear healthy? Overall I think this goes down as one of the worst restaurant meals I've ever had.

Rebecca M.

Yelp
Consistent poor service :( I think it is a huge disappointment because the food is tasty however, the service has repeatedly been poor. I feel that the service is unfriendly and the wait time is always longer than I feel is expected according to how many customers are there. Tonight I went to pick up food and then after 30 minutes of waiting asked. The individual who I ordered from looked confused and then noticed that the bag of food was waiting near the kitchen. She handed it to me without an apology. Ab apology or acknowledgment would have gone a long way.... I will not be returning.
google avatar

Gina F.

Yelp
This is the most craveable food, why can't I have this where I live?Very busy but food was turned out efficiently. Super fresh, delicious and perfect for those of interested in ingredients and what you put in your body. Love the ambiance and its in a fab neighborhood.
google avatar

Tim O.

Yelp
This is owned and run by the former Prasad folks which claim to fame was the fart patio scene on Portlandia. We live just a few blocks from Harlow and the food is really top notch as well as healthy. We order take out from Harlow a 2-3 times a week most weeks and absolutely love the food and people working there. Thankful to have such a good restaurant that we can get healthy and tasty food from just a short walk away. Our favorites are the chorizo quesadilla, Pesto Garden Scramble, Urban bowl and chopped salad. Our teenage and early 20 kids love the the Pesto Mac and vegan biscuits and gravy.
google avatar

Ada M.

Yelp
The food is really great and healthy here. They give you huge proportions here that you can easily for another meal. The quality of food is great. I wouldn't recommend their macaroni though. That is the only thing I've tried here I didn't like, it just doesn't taste like Mac at all. I love their smoky tempeh. It is one of the best tasting things in the world.
google avatar

Kati P.

Yelp
First time today and 2/3 of us liked our food. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy and it was NOT OK. The gravy part was very good; the biscuits were completely inedible and honestly pretty much like shoe leather. Even with a metal knife, they were extremely difficult to cut. Those biscuits should never have left the kitchen as they were horrid. Also the 'poached eggs' were 100% hard boiled. Someone needs to instruct the chef how to make a poached egg, which should be oozy and unctuous. Another fail. Sorry, but there are too many wonderful restaurants to drive over three hours from Seattle to eat great Portland veggie fare. Don't think we'll be back.
google avatar

Amy P.

Yelp
I'm familiar With their spot on Hawthorne so I wanted to try their new spot on 23rd and we ended up ordering to go. I got myself the mac & cheese and it was okay but I feel like they changed their recipe from 5-6 years ago when I last had it. My partner had the vegan chorizo dish. He usually does not like guacamole but he ended up liking this one so this is great news. I saw a couple of people dining in right now. So it seems like they're doing both to go and in person dining.
google avatar

Jenny T.

Yelp
I am always so happy to find a healthy, GF, veggie specific place. Harlow was fantastic. I never order biscuits and gravy, but gave it a try. The mushroom, GF biscuit was great. The gravy was different but grew on me a I ate it. But OMG the veggies that came with it were seasoned so well. I also had the lemonade and greeen elixir (twice in 24 hours). Super tasty and refreshing. Excellent value for excellent food! and great portions.
google avatar

Rylee B.

Yelp
The ambience is a 10 out of 10. The plants are well kept and The playlist was amazing. Some of Harlow's beverages are made with house-made oat milk. It was very thick, like watery oatmeal if you tried to sift it. Stay away. The chai was not sweet at all and a bit grainy. The servers were very accommodating and let us trade in our drinks for the ashwaganda hot chocolate, which we highly recommend. The rest of our meal was hearty and enjoyable. The Mighty Bowl, Outlaw Scramble and Pesto Garden Scramble were scrumptious. The jackfruit is very well done. There are tons of vegan options for people with gluten and nut allergies. I'd give it 4.6 stars!

Yelp
The food was not good enough to make up for the bad service. I was so excited until I went in to order.

Yelp
I really like Harlow's SE Hawthorne location. So, when my husband and I were in NW the other day looking for a gluten free place to eat, it was a no brainer. I got a bowl that was a riff on biscuits and gravy. It had a gluten free herb biscuit, root vegetables, tons of kale and tempeh gravy on the side that you pour on it. It was also really tasty. I love Southern-style comfort food, but it's usually not gluten free and it's rare for it to contain so many vegetables. So I was really happy with what I got. I was looking forward to having the wellness toddy, a non-alcoholic turmeric-based version of a hot toddy, but it wasn't as good as the one at the Hawthorn location. My husband, who is not gluten-free or vegan, was happy with the wrap he got even though they put quinoa in it instead of the rice he requested. Also he had a hard time finding drinks in the case that didn't contain CBD or weren't alcoholic kombucha. They do have polar seltzer, regular kombucha and Hiball energy drinks as well.
