"Ha's Chinese Bar & Eatery in Astoria has suddenly closed. According to its website and Instagram bio, the restaurant has been closed since February 12th, but a reason for the closure has not been announced. The restaurant was just opened in December 2017 by the team behind The Queens Kickshaw, Ben Sandler and Jennifer Lim. They were also behind NYC’s first cider bar Wassail, which closed last month. Despite the cider-focused vegetarian restaurant’s good reviews, it was in a persistently tenuous state since late 2016. Last August, they also closed their popular neighborhood grilled cheese spot Queens Kickshaw to revamp the space into Ha’s Chinese, but it seems the ill-fated duo have lost another ambitious restaurant. Eater NY has reached out for more information." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya

Wonderful unique addition to the neighborhood. Sexy cool vegetarian Chinese with great cocktails and atmosphere.

Nice atmosphere and staff, flavor was good but my noodle dish was like soup on a plate, also could've been bigger or even just more noodles. I would dine again because of decor, staff, and vegan options.

Was excited to try this place considering it’s a welcomed addition to the neighborhood especially on the other side of Steinway. However, came in around 6pm with about 4 tables already served and ordered 5 dishes, only one being an entree, shortly after. Fast forward an hour and a half, 730pm, and the last dish finally shows up. No restaurant can justify the late presentation, especially when the menu is purely vegetables and the restaurant is not overwhelmed; if it weren’t for the drinks I wouldn’t have stayed. What was ordered: chrysanthemum salad; fried bao; steamed bao w/ fermented red tofu butter; wok charred cabbage with wood eats; bean sprouts and orange; flat noodles with oyster sauce and smoked tofu - everything had good texture and flavor but the flat noodles were just that in flavor, flat. Sure the place is new but obviously needs to iron out their kinks if this place wishes to survive. Will I be back? Not on my own volition.

Food is not good. Average at best. On top of that it takes them super long (15-20m) to make even simple things like noodles when the restaurant is only 30% full. Service though is good, attentive. Prices are high for this type of restaurant and in this part of the city.
