"When you want to escape the $20 burgers Downtown and get an affordable meal, head here. There’s a slew of special burgers to choose from, but the standard Big Hat burger is the best because it’s simple: two patties, lettuce, tomato, pickles, diced onions, and mustard. Then you can take the rest of your strawberry shake to-go as you get some shopping done at the North Park mall to get the full suburbia experience." - Lee Escobedo

The burgers here are really good and the tots are worth the up charge. The service was fast and friendly albeit it was very hard for them to hear me despite shouting my order. The atmosphere here is incredibly loud and chaotic. It has a play place so that keeps the kids entertained. If you aren’t in the mood for high volume you should get the food to go. It’s worth a try. The hat sauce is the best and I like to use it on the burger and the tots so get extra! Parking is tight when it’s busy but there is a dedicated parking lot for the restaurant. All in all this place is worth a try if your looking for a burger in Coppell just use caution on whether to eat there or take it to go.

Google
Food was ok. Order ahead but it wasn’t ready when I arrived, however they worked to get it ready quickly. Grilled chicken sandwich was extremely dry and the fries were stale. Atmosphere was nice and service was good,

Google
"We really enjoyed our experience! The atmosphere was family-friendly, and I appreciated the thoughtful menu options — they offer gluten-free fries and buns, along with chicken and turkey patties. Great spot for anyone with dietary preferences!"

Adam Drilon

Google
Great place to grab a gourmet burger. I had their most popular burger- the Bacon Royale. Double meat patty freshly grilled. Fresh crisp lettuce and tomatoes. Soft flavorful bread and a burger sauce that puts the Big Mac sauce to shame. Great place for kids as they have an outdoor playground right beside the outdoor dining area. I look forward to my next visit.

I always get take out, and it travels surprisingly well. Fries do get soggy, so be careful, but I like them like that personally. Staff are friendly and hardworking. Even when busy, they provide great service as quickly as possible. Great location!

Stacey Smith

Google
Loved the dine in fast food that was gluten free! We had a chicken sandwich, nuggets, fried pickles and fries. Loved that It was set up so you could see the playground and still have something to eat. A little bit pricey but all gluten-free food is.

Google
Great quality burgers but missing some seasoning. Fries were hot and crispy. Beer is a nice touch

Google
Really, I would give them 2.5 stars. This was a very disappointing burger experience. We ordered online for pick up and the food took an extra 12 minutes past the pick up time. We ate ours at home (as it is a work day) but still went inside. Our drive home is only 5 minutes away from this location. The overall taste of the burgers was okay, nothing extraordinary. The fries were bland and not great. The burgers were made wrong and not only were they wrong but one of them was very soggy. The staff wasn't welcoming but not rude. The restaurant was okay with cleanliness. Also, we went at 2:05 and it wasn't busy at all. If you're going to take extra time at least make sure the food is correct and fresh. I wouldn't recommend this place based on our experience plus they are overpriced for what you get. The burgers are a good size but it's like going to any other fast food (McDonalds, Wendy's, Whataburger). I would recommend Twisted Root, Mooyah, Kincaid's, or even Shack Shake over Hat Creek if you're looking for the "sit down burger joint"

Yelp
I came here with three kids for a quick meal and some playground time when we had time to kill on the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised with the food, prices, the large patio and playground combination. They offer a variety of fast food and kid friendly options including hot dogs, and you can pick up a tasty burger as well. Their sauces were super yummy too. Sitting on the patio is a must if your kids are wanting to play on the playground so you can supervise them. The playground is completely gated so it's safe from the parking lot. There's even a hand washing station on the patio so that kids can play and then wash hands before they eat without having to head inside to the bathroom. So smart! If the weather's good, this is a great spot to hit. Thank you Hat Creek!

Helen H.

Yelp
My number one favorite- pretty good playground for the kids The burgers are good. They have different sauces and stuff. I kind of wish I could jsut have a side salad with chicken nuggets. That's pretty good. The fries are great

Diego B.

Yelp
I was looking for a quick bite and I'm glad I found this place! Everyone was so kind, the atmosphere was nice and they had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating! Great for groups or just by yourself! Will absolutely come back.

Alex V.

Yelp
Ok ok ok... In'N'Out reigns supreme in my burger reviews... in fact hands down when I die, there better be an In'N'Out in heaven/hell... BUT if there isn't one, I'll take Hat Creek any day. Burgers, Tater-Tots extra crispy and a vanilla malt is all I need to make my overweight life complete. This place is solid. Def will be back for more... unless there's an In'N'Out close by...

Iris S.

Yelp
I think if we had kids right now we would have appreciated this place more since there is an area for kids outside to go off and play after eating which looked cool. I would have loved this as a kiddo! It looked cooler than other play places. As a couple without children, this place was very very loud and messy- no one was cleaning tables or refilling the sauce stations. The person taking orders at the register kind of expected us to know what we wanted despite it being our first time here and a large menu. Pricing was a little bit high once you had this and that to your order. Not terrible, but not cheap either. We got two burgers, cheese tots to share and a drink and it was something like $25. I'd rather go many other places for that price. However, I will say the food all tasted good. Just not necessarily the place for us.

Kavonni B.

Yelp
Overall, they have a good selection especially when you are craving burgers and fries. They do offer a turkey, burger and veggie burger option. What drew me to this place was their out yard play area for my toddler .

Noah S.

Yelp
The food tastes great. And if you have Celiac disease it's phenomenally celiac friendly. The only reason I am giving this a 3 star is because they use soybean oil to fry everything. Every time I eat there I get inflamed and my stomach hurts. It's not like when my celiac flares and I start having palpitations. It's definitely the seed oil. Seed oil needs to be banned and if they really care about people's well being they'd start using beef tallow and healthier ingredients.

Leslie D.

Yelp
We visited on Veterans Day since they were honoring the service of our veterans with a free burger. We like coming here because I have Celiac Disease and my boyfriend has a wheat allergy. Their chicken nuggets and sides are all gluten-free. The vibe is casual with indoor seating and outdoor covered seating adjoining their playground. The outdoor seating area tends to be on the noisy side because the kids play on the playground. Very family-friendly. I had a 4 nugget combo meal with fries which was good. I really like their dipping sauces. I also like their fried pickles. My boyfriend had his burger with a gluten-free bun. There is an additional charge for a gluten-free bun and it came out very crumbly. He had to eat it in the wrapper because he was afraid it would fall apart otherwise. If you are eating gluten-free and don't like crumbly buns, I recommend ordering a lettuce wrapped burger instead.

Daryl C.

Yelp
I like a good burger. I thought Hat Creek made a great burger. I had the double cheese with lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. It was juicy, the bun soft and a but like a brioche, and the vegetables crisp. The tater tots were on point. They were less dry than some places and still crispy. And - they have Fry sauce. For those of you who aren't from Idaho - home of famous potatoes, where fry sauce is a staple condiment, it's a mix of mayo, ketchup, and some other subtleties based on the recipe. And not even exaggerating, the Coke Zero was the best I've tasted in a few months. Even Sonic has been a bit off lately. This was a perfect mix. If you know, you know. I really liked this place. I put this ahead of five guys.

Yelp
Maillard Process. This establishment/chain gets it! What is it? it is the fine art of caramelizing the sugars within the meat cells and bread. It's what make beef taste good and toast taste good! So besides perfectly grilled burgers and buns, the tomato slices were thin but there were 2, the lettuce was substantial, the pickle slices tart and tangy, the cheese had a touch of tanginess and the mustard was delightful! This was a really good tasting burger! The fries were thin, relatively crisp but not over fried, the skin-on was flavorful and they added some seasoning to give them a little spike to the taste buds. Really good fries! I loved the marketing fun with "Dare you to eat just one" on the fry bag. I emptied the bag and was looking for morsels. I do wish they had ketchup containers instead of packets. I like to dip. Although this was drive through with really good service, this place is a near destination for kids. There is a climbing playground here. The architect had fun with the design. Lots of parking and easy to get in and out. Be careful with the prices, as they are are on the edge of being expensive for a fast food experience.

Jasmine H.

Yelp
Really juicy flavorful burger. meat is actually seasoned. fries are seasoned also and delicious with "fry sauce". Vanilla/strawberry milkshakes are so creamy. Staff was funny and friendly. Menu is clear to read and understand. Lots of add ons. specialty shakes. really nice indoor/outdoor seating and a decent sized new play area for kids on turf.

Susan B.

Yelp
This was a great little place kind of tucked away behind Rosa's. Great veggie burger and fries. Nice playhouse for kids. Fast self-service/drive-through. I will be back!

Josh A.

Yelp
Best kept secret that all parents should know about. The outside playground is large enough for 20-30 kids. The food is amazing. There's chicken tenders for kids because that's all they eat. There's beer (and craft beer) and wine for parents. Multiple TVs for sports watching. We get together with our other parents and let the kids run around while we relax and enjoy some adult beverages.

Yelp
Because I did not eat breakfast this morning, I decided to drive here to grab a burger for lunch. I had wanted to try this place since I saw its construction during summer of 2020. When I arrived after 11am, I had to verify the posted hours because I initially did not see anyone inside. Once I entered, I saw a customer seated at a table and a family by the play area. I approached the counter and saw all the employees were in the kitchen area. A few saw me, but no one immediately came to take my order. After five minutes, when I was about to head out, someone finally come to the counter to take my order. After I ordered, I went to take a seat. I discovered the interior was dirty. The restaurant had only been opened for fifteen minutes. None of the tables appeared to be wiped clean before the day started. Crumbs were on several of the tables and one, not occupied by the diner, had ketchup stains. The Big Hat Burger itself was okay. I opted for the dollar up charge to make it a cheeseburger. With the half pound of beef and all the toppings, it was a large amount of food. Something I would expect when the combo is priced over $10. Overall, it was a decent cheeseburger. Unfortunately, I had much better experience at other franchise locations of fast food burger chains.

Nathan K.

Yelp
First visit through the drive thru (It looked extremely chaotic inside with tons of kids). We ordered two Classic combos- but not we got. We ended up receiving two Hats. (The cashier looked spaced out, so not that big of a surprise.) Despite getting our order wrong, the burgers we did receive were really nice for fast-food. Extremely flavorful and rich in seasoning and cheese. The buns were "Five Guys"-esque: Soft and soggy since they're wrapped in foil but somehow manages to support the sandwich to the end. Sweet potato fries were nothing crazy, but nonetheless a great sweet/salty complement to the creaminess of the burger.

Allen O.

Yelp
Great place for burgers and shakes. Easy pick up from mobile ordering. Food was delicious.

Terry L.

Yelp
We came here last night for dinner. The burgers tasted great but were quite small in size compared to the price. A combo cost an extra $4 and the fries were not anything special. I am glad that we tried it but was disappointed at the portion size vs price compared to other burger places. The hat sauce and the fry sauce were great. They need to sell those things by the bottle.

Carrie H.

Yelp
We had their standard burger, and it was freshly cooked with standard toppings. Hand battered, marinated overnight chicken nuggets were so moist and tender! They have three sauces that you can choose. They were all good. They serve beer, but we did not get any. They delivered our food to our table. The atmosphere was casual and friendly. There is a kids play area outside with adjacent seating areas and hand washing station. Atmosphere is very open and good for groups and families.

Blake H.

Yelp
I've been to a few different locations and Hat Creek Burger Co never disappoints! Not the cheapest burgers but less than Red Robin and better (extra $4.29 to make it a combo seems kinda steep)! They have perfectly seasoned fries that I think rival (and beat) McDonald's and several sauces to choose from! I usually get the Southwest Burger and Mom gets the Little Hat which always taste fresh and juicy and are perfectly cooked ! Unlike most places they're actually generous with their toppings... my burger had plenty of lettuce and grilled onions! The servers are always friendly and they have nicely separated areas with cool indoor or covered patio seating and a play area for kids! If you're in the mood for a fast burger that doesn't taste like fast food this is the place! They also have very good salads and bowls (vegan or keto or paleo) if you're looking for healthier options... or great milkshakes if you're not!

Ryan R.

Yelp
super solid burger! tasted fresh and came out very quickly. loved the customizability

John and Dana B.

Yelp
The food is delicious, service is efficient and friendly, a great place for kids or grandkids!

Dana K.

Yelp
Very disappointed in our meal today, especially for the price of $32. Two out of three said burgers from McDonalds are better. The loaded tater tots were a joke, see photo attached. Only reason they are getting 2 stars is the sweet potato fries were good and girl in the drive thru was very friendly. If I try this place again I'll definitely check my food before I pull away.

Michelle S.

Yelp
Simply the best. Better than all the rest!! With a covered and climate controlled patio parents and relax and enjoy their meal out of the heat while still watching their littles run around outside on the play scape. 10/10 would recommend

Mister T.

Yelp
Courteous service and good tasting burger and tater tots ... onion rings a bit salty kids friendly

Nina L.

Yelp
Great, fresh tasting food. Super clean, including the restrooms. There's a great playground for kids. We were the only people there, but I'm not sure why. We loved it and will be back :)

Mike S.

Yelp
Burgers and chicken nuggets are great! They even let you order sandwiches with pepper jack! I huge plus! Our new go-to for great fast food.

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Good burgers and fries. Love all the sauces. The summer hot dog special was amazing--the bun was so fresh.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Quick service, casual atmosphere and most importantly safe for people with Celiacs!!! Their gluten free chicken nuggets are my happy place. . Few companies are willing to acknowledge the need for safe food for those suffering from gluten intolerance/celiacs disease. This is the ONLY fast food place I can feel good about feeding my child. Thank you Hatcreek!

Jate' J.

Yelp
Am I....am I turning into a burger type girl???? Omg, the end is really near lol. Don't get me wrong....I do eat burgers. Just not as much as the average American. Hat Creek is slowly making me a burger baddie. I LOVE the fact they provide alternatives for your protein. Turkey, veggie, chicken, and of course....BEEF. They also provide healthier options such a salads or wrapping that delectable beef (or protein of your choice) in a lettuce wrap. Hot dogs and chicken are also on the menu. The classic with a beef or turkey patty is my go-to. This place is a one stop shop for the entire fam. Surely everyone will be able to find something they like. The drive thru is an extreme PLUS! Sometimes you want a casual dining burger without the actual "dining" you know? This is why I'm usually zooming in on two wheels the get my burger fix. Pay that extra $1 or $2 to get you a nice drive thru burger. Those hum drum fast food spots will be there next time. Treat yourself. Enjoy!

Susan S.

Yelp
I was a little disappointed in Hat Creek! The burgers were pretty good, but the portions seemed small. We were excited to find a fast-cas place with burgers and salads, but Hat Creek was just good fast food. The location I attended had a front desk cashier who was amazing. Other employees seemed to lack energy. Every member of my party had at least 1 item missing. We noticed that trend with other diners. Finally, let's discuss ambiance. There was an amazing playground area. We sat in a room with garage doors that opened. Kids were running in and out constantly. Great place for the littles. Not so much for us without kids. That atmosphere was surprising to me, but I can see where many families would welcome this.

Jamie R.

Yelp
Definitely got a nice lil variety of burgers and sides! I recommend the fried pickles, and Keto burger bowl!

David J.

Yelp
Fantastic food, great environment for families. I'll be back More and more Big Hat Burger

Breanna T.

Yelp
Food is okay, however customer service is horrible. Nobody should have a job with that attitude. It's discouraging and makes you never want to return. Janitor service would be better, don't have to deal with people and get paid the same. Rude rude rude.

Mason M.

Yelp
Great burgers and fries, burgers are in and out size but with better bread, dipping sauces are good

Sarah H.

Yelp
Love trying new burger places, even though On this day I was feeling a chicken sandwich instead of a burger. This place is nice, clean and very inviting for families. There is a large playground, a large covered patio area. Menu was a bit pricey when not purchasing a Combo type deal. Small Up charge to substitute tots on the combo. I had the fried chicken sandwich with tots and shared the loaded fries (cheese, bacon with ranch on the side). Very good ranch!! Everything was delicious and worth of a return visit, gotta try the burger next time. They offer inside dining, curbside and have a drive thru.

Angela O.

Yelp
I have heard about Hat Creek Burgers for a couple of months, yesterday plans changed and we had time to try them out. We were quite pleased with the items we ordered, they were the: The Big Hat The perfect amount of melted Cheese and crispy veggies. The Cowboy Chose the Pepperjack Cheese, this along with the BBQ was a great flavor combination. Tater Tots A generous amount of hot, crispy tots that had the perfect crunch when you bit into them. Fried Pickles Nice thickness of Pickle, great flavor to the breading, and just like the Tater Tots thry were cooked to perfection. Sorry I didn't get any pictures, but we'll be going back to visit Hat Creek Burgers and I'll take pictures then, and won't forget to try a Milkshake! If you enjoy a really good Burger, go try Hat Creek Burger.

Kali G.

Yelp
Excellent choice for families with younger kiddos. The draw here is the playground for sure. It's basically a chick-Gil-a or McDs but serving burgers. The patio is covered so you are under shade and protected from the elements while your kiddos get to play. The playground is fenced in but the playground itself is not covered so bring some sunscreen. They do have burgers and he burgers and a couple healthier salad options where you can add grilled chicken. They have a few different sizes of burgers as well. The burgers are decent for the overall experience but I would not come here if the playground was not here, I don't think the burger is above average but the staff is great, the playground is great, my kids love it so I'm very happy coming here and to me, that makes this above average and worth checking out. Overall this is a great option for parents of young kids 7 and under, there are a decent amount of toddlers so if your 7 year old isn't used to being around young kids it may not be the best place for them to run and have fun.

Melanie S.

Yelp
What I ordered vs what I got... picture looked crispy onion rings and what I got was greasy... small in portion. I also orderes loaded tater tots, came home to realize there were only small amount of cheese with few bacon pieces and wasn't crunchy and we live less than 2 min away from this place... burgers were great from past visits but no to onion rings.. AND I didn't get my receipt, I thought it would be inside plastic bag they packed my food but there was no receipt. I wanted to check right away but I waited long after the customer before me and there were cars behind me so I didn't want to hold them wait longer.

Roshonda S.

Yelp
LOVE IT, and during our visit my son and I were Blessed with a meal. No Apple Pay option, but we will most definitely pay it forward! Color the Earth my son said, "everyone does something good for the other!"

Kristy H.

Yelp
Great service, burgers, tots, fries and shakes! It's a nice place to stop by a grab a tasty burger. My boys and I agree, it's way better than the alternative fast food burger places.

M V.

Yelp
This is actually the only Hat Creek I have visited - but the quality and service is outstanding. Everyone working there is kind with a smile and friendly demeanor. After placing an online order, I went thru the drive thru a good ten minutes prior to when I was told the order would be ready. I fully expected to be told I'd have to wait and would have understood their annoyance, honestly. I was met with a smile, however, and my food was ready in less than 2 minutes. Great experience and looking forward to returning.

Ben T.

Yelp
Looks like a fast food joint, tastes like a foodies hideout. Burgers are on point and the loaded fries were delicious. Will definitely come back when craving a good juicy burger.

Aaron M.

Yelp
I have gotten the hamburger several times, this time, I tried the chicken sandwich. It was great! My kids enjoy coming for both the food and the playground. Today the weather was fantastic.

Leo G.

Yelp
We got a few different burgers from adults to kids. Hardly any flavor, patties were overcooked. Fries were barely warm. Loaded tator tots were not loaded at all (sonic has better loaded fries than this). Shakes were very good.

Hoda T.

Yelp
Wonderful for families with little kids. I like that the patio area is open and leads to the play area.

Bianca C.

Yelp
We had our sons birthday party here and the staff and food was exceptional!!! We will definitely be back! The customer service was exceptional!

Arcadia M.

Yelp
While this is one of my families favorite establishments, I think it may be the bane of the fast food experience. They seem to consider themselves above your average McDonalds, every single one of my interactions with them SUCKS. The first time maybe it was bad timing, the second time maybe it was me... who knows right? NOPE. I have gone yet again, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt although I should know better by now. I drove on home, making the mistake of not inspecting my meal....I got a broken cup that leaked all over me as soon as I picked it up. I got cold, UNCOOKED tots, and best of all I got an *AMAZING* attitude from the highschooler running the drive through. I had to ask for my shake to be made correctly, and 3 times to talk to the manager before someone got her. I will likely never go here again nor will I suggest it to anyone.

Jason J.

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place, but the service was so completely unacceptable. Ordered at 6:06pm per receipt. Food came at 6:54pm. Nearly 50 mins for fast food? Just wow. I DO NOT fault the staff, it appeared they were completely understaffed and this responsibility rests with the owner/operator-NOT the staff. The staff that were there were doing the best they could under the circumstances. The food was mediocre at best, fries and tots were served cold. Like not kidding, cold. Shake was half melted and poorly mixed soft serve with chocolate syrup mixed in. Burgers were just ok. But Over $50 for a family of 4 to eat mediocre, cold fast food! Again wow. Kids loved the playground and it was decently clean but, very crowded on a Wednesday evening. I could never recommend this place based on the really bad service, food quality and extremely high cost for fast food.

Angela H.

Yelp
Burger was just okay. I've definitely had a better burger from Freddy's or Culver's. I would pass on this one.
