Hattie B's Hot Chicken - Memphis

I absolutely enjoyed all the food. I ordered the Chicken Tenders with Pimento Mac & Cheese and Greens. I ordered and waited for my dine-in order. It took about 5-8 minutes before the food came out. The food was fresh and filling. The staff were also pretty chill and polite. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone wanting some good chicken. Definitely will be returning soon.

First, let me tell you, customer service is top notch! Everyone was friendly and you could tell all employees took pride in their job. I was craving some hot chicken and the craving got stronger each time I drove by so I stopped in for some lunch. I had chicken strips medium hot and they were delicious! My fries were good and the baked beans were tasty. The only thing I didn’t like were the fried pickles. I think it was the breading. Aside from that, I really enjoyed the stop!

First time giving an actual review. Writing this as I eat my vanilla ice cream. Walked in and was greeted by a warm welcoming smile. First time here so I don’t know what to order. I asked for recommendations and I ordered the 3 piece hot chicken combo. I’m not much a spicy food enthusiast so I went with mild but I should’ve given it a spice extra since it would’ve added a bit more kick. Pimento Mac and cheese is really great. Spicy and creamy. Got offered the hot sauce so I gave it a try and had the same spice level as the Mac and cheese so it tasted amazing with the chicken. And washed it all down with an Arnold Palmer. Wish we had one of these in Little Rock. 🙏🙏🙏

I would 100% recommend Hattie B’s! It’s the perfect spot to stop when you’re craving a good burger, especially a spicy one. Plus, it’s in a great area where you can walk around and explore, and the atmosphere is overall fantastic.

Our food was door dash to us. I can only rate the food. The chicken was flavorful but not as crispy. The greens and beans were good. The pimento mac n cheese, I didnt like at all. The sauce was okay. The potato salad was ok. 3.5 stars overall.

The food is always good here, I love the comeback sauce it’s a must every time along with the house made lemonade for me. Side note a lot of people don’t clean up behind them selves when dining in instead they wait for an employee to clean up their mess only downside. Restroom has always been kept up the times I’ve dined in.

One of the best chicken spots in the city located in the Cooper Young section of the city. My go to is the half chicken but I've recently discovered that the tenders are a hit also. Service is always spot on.

Ordered a few different things to try - Kids tender - Damn Hot. I think I’m more accustomed to the heat coming from a sauce vs just a lot of dry spice/rub. After eating Hattie Bs, I realized I like sauced chicken vs spiced chicken. The dryness on the spice and batter choked me a little. - Black eyed pea salad - best side I tried - really good. Tangy, zesty. - Baked beans - also pretty good. They were sweet - but nothing crazy outstanding. - Greens - for fast food, these were really good. - Waffle - sweet treat, small portion - perfect size. The vibe was clean with a friendly staff. It does take a little longer for your order, but I think that’s to be expected. $60 for lunch for 3 (including tip)

Hattie B's = #IYKYK I wish we could have caught my husband and I's reaction when we learned our favorite Nashville hot chicken spot had a location in Memphis while we were vacationing there. At our first chance, we stopped in to indulge and this location didn't disappoint. We were grateful this location isn't as busy as the Nashville locations, but it is the same quality and taste. There's also more tables and space to dine-in here, but take-out is always an option (you just won't be able to partake in the delicious AYCD sweet tea).

Hot, 3 pc wings, potato salad, crinkle fries, peach cobbler, banana pudding...paid $22.50 Wings...huge, 10 out 10, the skin is spicy, like cayenne/ paprika spice, 8/10, but the actual chicken is flavorless, you need the dipping sauce Potato salad, gross, super mayo heavy or some kind of cream sauce, the potatoes are seasoned well but 1 out 10, do not get this as a side Crinkle fries with seasoning, quality and quantity is 10 out 10 if you like crinkle fries, the portion is huge 10/10 Peach cobbler, canned peaches not cooked, no cinnamon, but the crust is really good, not too sweet, 7 out 10 Banana pudding, HORRIBLE...the pudding was watering and there's no way it was even box pudding from the grocery store. It looked and tasted like they just added water to a powder and stirred it. It had 3 slices of banana and 4 vanilla wafers in it with some kind of cream meringue on top...0 out of 10

Review for Hattie B's We ordered Hattie B's for delivery, and while it was decent, I couldn't help but wish we'd had it fresh. I got the wings, and while the flavor was good, they weren't as crispy as I'd like. Their Damn Hot spice level definitely packs a kick, though! My fiancé ordered the small dark in Hot, and it was cooked perfectly--definitely a highlight. The fries were just okay, so next time I might try one of their specialty options. We ordered a lot of sides, but they forgot to include our banana pudding, which was a letdown. Overall, it was decent, but the experience didn't quite live up to the hype. I'd give it another try fresh at the restaurant to see if it's better that way!

I was stuck between giving this place 4 or 5 stars so I gave them the 5 stars. Place has a pretty small parking lot wrapped around the building. They have a few TVs inside so you can catch a game. You place your order at the front and they cook all food to order. I got 2 chicken breasts and wings with mac and cheese and greens. The extra chicken breast and wing was just $5 so I got it. The chicken tastes good but there was more heat than flavor. I will probably get tenders next time and more dipping sauces. The mac and cheese was good. The greens were good.

Exquisite chicken that you can enjoy in the beautiful midtown area of Memphis. Service was amazing. Try everything on the menu as it's all delicious. Fried chicken was hot fresh and juicy and sides were just as good! One of best chicken spot in the city on God. It's that good you'll come back every week to splurge and get your chicken fix

The chicken was very spicy. It lives up to the Nashville hot chicken hype. I personally could take it lol however it was tasty. I will have to try "medium" next time. The customer service is great. The parking is limited. I literally got the last spot on the lot and I got there around 12:15.

I had the pleasure of giving Hattie B's a second chance. I must say that I ordered a Hot chicken sandwich with seasoned fries, coleslaw and peach cobbler. I was extremely pleased with my food. The service excellent and the food was prepared professionally and fresh. The chicken was flavored hot the way I like it. I must say that I'll be making future orders and visits to Hattie B's. Thanks for a amazing second chance!

Hattie B's is always so good, the Medium chicken sandwich is my go to, and the waffles are great! The service is usually pretty quick and accurate and the atmosphere is chill, laid back, and hip. Highly recommend

The best fried chicken in Tennessee! Several years ago, we went to the Nashville location and fell in love with Hattie B's. We are on vacation in Memphis, and we had to stop. The food was delicious, and we had a great dinner - a must-stop in Memphis or Nashville.

Return trip since I was in the area. I only got 2 chicken wings with no heat. They were huge and fresh. Very crispy. But no flavor without the heat.

Great staff, great service, great ambiance... exceptional food. Man... it was just SO good. The sandwich was crispy AF while being packed with flavour. I wish I had the foresight to try the hotter sauce because I *think* I could have handled it? Anyway, the bun was *chefs kiss* and all the goodies were perfectly aligned. I will absolutely make the point of going every time I'm in town (and will secretly hope they sell a franchise into the Vancouver area!)

Hattie B's is a hit every single time. My wife and I try to stop by when we come to Memphis to visit. Service is always impeccable by the waitstaff. The food always comes out hot and fresh.

Great Chicken. I usually get 3 strips in progressively hotter seasonings: hot, damn hot and shut the cluck up. Even the hottest of the seasoning is still flavorful. What's the point of heat with no flavor?

This place is SO good. I got a hot chicken sandwich with collards and black eye pea salad. Everything was a 20/10. I loved the sandwich. The black eye pea salad is SO SO good. My food came hot and was delivered through door dash. I don't know about ambiance as I haven't been inside yet. All in all Hattie b's is THE best fried chicken I've had to date.

I love this place and location except for the girl with the long blonde hair and glasses that works the register. She is incredibly rude and doesn't greet the patrons. I almost didn't want to eat there because she has such a stank attitude. I've visited this location several times and in 3 visits I've had her take my order and her lack of customer service remains the same. Everyone else was incredibly nice and hospitable that they supersede her attitude. I love Memphis and this is a mandatory stop from us when we're in town from Cali. Thank you to everyone else that has always given us great service and southern hospitality.

Oh my word!! When I tell you this was such a good meal I mean it!! The service was top tier (I got my food to go) and quick! When I stepped in the restaurant every seat was filled and you could tell everyone was more than satisfied with their food! The restaurant was clean and orderly. Now to the food... first off, the chicken skin was so crispy and flavorful! I got a dark plate (mild) with baked beans and greens along with a banana pudding. The baked beans were packed with flavor and prepared with love. The greens were made just right; they weren't salty or too vinegary. If you're looking for a nice meal down south go to Hattie B's!!!

I really wanted to like this location. I had been excited to grab it after I had it in Nashville and was blown away. This location in Memphis needs to reevaluate their food because it did not hit the mark. It's a nice setup. We walked through the covered patio seating to get inside to line up to order. We ordered the wings and fries, fried pickles, chicken sandwich (mild), and the red skin potato salad. I also got a fountain drink. We found a table, and the food came out within a reasonable time, given how many customers they had. They must have been busy because plenty of the tables had not been bussed. Okay, back to the food quality - the chicken lacked flavor. The chicken sandwich, even though mild, tasted like nothing, and they barely put coleslaw on it. I'm not one to not finish my food, but I just couldn't finish it due to the lack of flavor. My friend got the wings, and even though they were supposed to be hot, it wasn't. The last time they got how I couldn't even handle it, but at this location, that was not the case. Their fries semi saved the the day. I love the seasoning in the fries, but my friends' fries had the majority of the fries not peeled, so it gives it a weird looking color. Their wing texture was rubbery and dry. Didn't finish those, either. The fried pickles were just okay. I have a particular way I like my fried pickles and the employee that took our order was like oh yeah you'll love them after I told her what I was looking for. She was wrong, I did not love them. The only thing that saved this was a one star was their Arnold palmer and the red skin potato salad. I love their tea and lemonade. Made fresh. The potato salad texture was perfect and the taste yum. But other than that for the price of the food and to fall that short this is off my list. Will not be back will have to wait until I'm in Nashville.

Loved the casual atmosphere and dog friendly covered patio. I had the chicken tenders with medium spice (good portion, nice heat) with turnip greens (yum) and cheesy bacon grits (so yum). My husband also had the chicken tenders but with mild spice (nice flavor), French fries (tasty, perfectly crispy), and pimento mac n cheese (kind of disappointing). Our son had the chicken tender kids meal (no spice, but very good) with Mac n cheese (see above) and a lemonade. The drink the kids meal comes with was plenty for the three of us to share, which was nice.

The service was fast and respectful. Food was alright, the greens and fries needed to be seasoned a bit more. The chicken was good, but I probably should had chose Mild/ southern. The banana pudding could had been way sweeter, had more vanilla flavor and bananas instead of the banana flavored pudding.

I've been wanting to come here for a while. Unfortunately, it was just okay. I got the chicken sandwich with a side of fries. The chicken lacked flavor for sure. The coleslaw was really good, though. Got two desserts, the peach cobbler and banana pudding, they were both okay. Their golden ale beer was really good with the food. Service was great, though.

We stopped for an early-ish dinner, one Thursday night. Our server was very nice, friendly and attentive. We ordered at the counter and there were self serve drinks, lots of parking and plenty of good seating options too, so it's easier to get in and out of this location than the Nashville one, that we held off on earlier in our trip, it seemed. Just really good food - greens and Mac were amazing and the chicken, ordered damn hot, was daaaaamn good!!

I had Hattie B's Hot Chicken while in Las Vegas, and I have to admit that experience was much more enjoyable. The fries were cold when served and the chicken made me question whether it was fully cooked. I didn't eat the last few bites because I was seriously concerned. Having said that, the flavor was on-point and the staff was very courteous.

I had the second to most spicy grilled tenders. They were good and thick, but a little too spicy for my taste, and I love very spicy food.

This place lives up to the hype for sure! The service was fast and the food was incredible. So good and can't wait to come back.

It's a few years later and it looks like they've worked out the kinks. Clearly the last time wasn't my last time and the wings have been consistently fresh and completely dipped. Though the heat levels still seem a little muted compared to Nashville I have not had any other complaints in the last year or two of visits. Good Job Hattie's Memphis.

This place is always busy. The music tends to be loud and very eclectic. The heat is no joke. You go from mild which has no heat to medium which is quite hot. I will say - the heat is in the dry spices. Their chicken is dry (as in no sauce. The chicken is plenty juicy. But no wet sauce.) And I prefer a wet sauce. But now - them dirty bird fries. That's where it's at!! They are gooood! I come here for that alone.

Ordered catering from here. The food was good and ready a few minutes late. I was a little disappointed to hear the way a manager spoke about customers. I was on the phone with them, and the manager spoke poorly about a customer to an employee while I think he thought I was on hold. Other than that, it was decent.

Location needs more accountability. 2 orders cancelled and no support or resolution provided. I was told to "order again". Maybe 3rd times a charm?

Depends on what you get. Each time I order the chicken sandwich it's cold but the tenders and wings are usually ok.

Love everything about this place!! The open seating is great. Employees were friendly & the food was amazing!! I will definitely be back! Huge Chicken Tenders, I got hot. The heat level is perfect for my taste!! Crinkle Crinkle Cut Fries and Red Skin Potato Salad, so yummy!! The potatoes could have been a little more soft but I would still get it again. Cannot wait to try more items on the menu. Delicious

We went a couple weeks ago for dinner we ordered the two piece dark chicken with collards green and mac and cheese all and all it was really delicious,the dining room was nice and clean and we were very happy I gave it a 5I forgot the picture..

Excellent tasting food! I love the chicken hear better than Gus's World Famous Chicken! The atmosphere is great! I don't understand the requested tip at the cashier, since there is no servers that wait on you...must be an entitlement thing! Can you imagine if McDonald's or Taco Bell started asking for tips!!?? LOL

Pristine Fried Chicken with many levels of hot and flavor. After having a dud of an experience and leaving another restaurant, this restaurant came highly recommended on more than one food app. So, my family and I decided to try it out. Well, it did not disappoint! It was absolutely delicious. The chicken was fabulous and over all the atmosphere was great: friendly, clean, and funky. It is a great family restaurant or a spot to meet up with friends. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the food came out decently quickly. Overall, great experience!!

If you've burned out chic-fil-a definitely give Hattie B's a try. They have indoor and outdoor seatings which is great if you want to enjoy a beautiful night. The chicken tenders were juicy and the chicken sandwich has a good kick to it (different options). The baked beans, chef's s kiss. Just look at my face of contentment; what other proof do you need?

I call this place Shattie Bs because thats what this cold, greasy chicken will give you. Eat local. Eat Gus's.. no one deserves diarrhea and bad service!!

The portions at Hattie B's are insane! Service was good, food was delicious. Overall, happy with our experience in ever aspect other than price, which was a little on the higher end for "grab and go" fare at about $50 for two.

First time trying Hattie B's. Got the medium spiced chicken tenders with mac n cheese and potatoes salad. We dine in and our order came really quickly even tho there was a short line while ordering. The chicken was nice-- hot (temperature and spice wise), flavorful, and crispy. The sides were ok. There was amp amount of food to get you full. As to what other reviewer have said, the bread was a bit soggy after getting soaked by the flavor oil, but I didn't really eat the bread so I can't complain. As for other aspects-- Not a very big parking lot but plenty of space to park on the side streets. Plenty of seating in house. Even tho it's more like a fast food type place, there were several ladies who would check in and see if you needed anything throughout the meal. So I guess if you like hot chicken, it wouldn't hurt to give this place a try.

Nashville Hot- this is THE only place you should be going! The service is awesome, and it feels like a great place to hang out and enjoy food with friends and family!

FRIED CHICKEN FRIDAY'S! And on this food Friday we are highlighting the very locally known @hattiebs Hattie B's Hot Chicken! I don't go to this spot much because for me...... well it's a little overrated Don't get me wrong their chicken is def bomb but dang folks hype stuff up lol. No shade tho. A couple of weeks ago I was in the area and after the Cooper Young festival some friends and I decided to stop by here just for a quick bite. I will most def say that the chicken was HITTING that day. flavorful, crunchy and hot like it have exactly what it needed to be given! You literally never go wrong with some hot chicken and Hattie B's definitely delivered! Have you visited Hattie B's? Is it true that the one in Nashville is better?

Great product served by very nice staff. The menu is reasonably priced and I love the selections.

First time here. Very clean place, except the restroom. Customer service was definitely a four. Thanks Amada, you were very kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Food was probably a three. The chicken was hot and crispy but TOTALLY lacking seasoning. I mean none!!! I have to say, though, it was the best service and food we've had the whole trip.

Excellent hot chicken. Menu offers white or dark meat, two or four pieces, at any of five levels of "heat". I chickened out (pun intended) and ordered the mid-level heat on this, my first visit. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it still was hot enough to let me know that this was not just plain old fried chicken, but seriously spicy-good eats!! Not just hot for the sake of hot, but crispy, tasty, moist, flavorful chicken. Five napkins needed, but worth the mess. Loved it!!! The only reason it's not a four star experience was my disappointment with the sides I chose. The red potato salad and the slaw were just fairly muddling, nothing exceptional. And the slice of bread was, well, sliced bread. Biscuits, or jalapeño biscuits, woulda been nice. Overall, I'm now a fan and will definitely be back the next time I'm anywhere near Memphis!!
