"Tucked away in the basement of the remarkable Künstlerhaus, this appealing modern restaurant also boasts a gorgeous covered terrace in the inner courtyard. The friendly team delivers an imaginative take on vegetarian cuisine (vegan options also available) in the form of a set menu, whose seven courses are only hinted at with pictures of the main ingredients. The waitstaff then proudly talk you through the dishes at your table. If you want meat or fish, you can also order a main course that suits you in advance. A range of perfectly paired cocktails and a fairly priced wine list complete the picture." - Michelin Inspector

My wife and I are in our late 60’s and have been traveling around the world for decades. We agreed that this was the best meal we have ever had in any restaurant anywhere in the world. The food was delicious, the flavors of each dish were amazing and the presentation was incredible. Each dish was like a work of art. Plus, the service was excellent. Friendly and warm servers who explained each dish made the whole experience simply wonderful. If you are in Vienna you should not miss an opportunity to dine here.

We had such a great evening at Hausbar. We did the 8 course menu and cocktail menu. Everything was creative and delicious. Perfect for both vegetarians and omnivores. One of the few tasting menus where vegetarians don’t feel like an afterthought. Incredible service, too!

Exceptional tasting menu experience. Our group loved every single course, and the bread course was a particular standout. The menu changes 4 times a year with the seasons. Service was truly extraordinary - very welcoming, detailed and clear English descriptions for each course, and lots of attention paid to small details like bread bags hand decorated for the holidays. The team was very accommodating to our dietary requests communicated in advance. We appreciated the option to select a mix of vegetarian, pescatarian, and omnivorous experiences and to do a shorter 5 course menu. The non alcoholic mocktail pairing menu was excellent quality, but at more than 10 euros per drink without alcohol, it felt a bit overpriced. I strongly recommend this restaurant.

I'm not into Vegetarian restaurants but this one is an exception. Although they give you a choice of fish or meat, everything else is vegetarian and delicious, if I may so so myself. Did I miss meat? Not in the slightest! Service was top notch all the way and I left fully satisfied that I made a great decision eating dinner in Hausbar.

Inventive and impressive courses in a non-vegan menu where plants make an excellent showing. This meal really inspires one to reimagine ingredients like celery and corn. The cocktails were very good, but the wines were thoughtfully selected and an unbeatable value.

Ate here last night and loved it. Gorgeous, clever food with complex flavour combinations that, although vegetable based, made a lovely tasting menu. It is a small intimate restaurant but with enough conversational buzz to have a private meal. So glad they managed to fit us in.

Really impressive, innovative vegetarian fine dining. Incredible combinations of delicious pickings and delicate flavours. Deserves Michelin recognition. Staff were delightful and attentive but not intrusive. The no-frills set-up does not detract but merely emphasises their commitment to delivering joyful flavours. Interesting chilli cocktail and excellent local wine. A final shot of schnapps in unusual setting (if you can find it) capped off a terrific evening. Any regrets? The meat and fish dishes were both very good, but had I known how fabulous these vegetarian dishes would be, I’d have opted for full 7 course vegetarian meal.

This place is excellent from start to finish. It's extremely small which adds to the charm of the restaurant. We were lucky enough to try the tasting menu with cocktail pairing. It was exceptional the food is vegan/vegetarian that was a bit of a surprise and we picked the meat option. That only means the main course was Duck. The flavour they are able to achieve are incredible you wouldn't need meat and I wish I could have tried the vegetarian Mains as well. Every cocktail is perfectly set with corse all splendidly put together. The staff are phenomenal super friendly and knowledgeable with a passion for what they do. Just when you think it couldn't get better they have a free house cocktail in the wash room. Definitely a must see place if you are able to get a booking, I would highly recommend visiting this beautiful part of the Vienna city.
