Popular Nashville Hot Chicken Chain Hattie B’s Is Headed to Houston - Eater Houston

"Here’s more information about the anticipated Houston opening of fast-casual chain Hawaiian Bros., which serves up heaping plates of huli huli chicken and kalua pork with white rice and creamy macaroni salad. According to a PR rep, the location at 6522 Westheimer Road in the former Taco Cabana space will open in early 2022." - Adele Chapin

Hawaiian Bros. Review - North Burnet - Austin - The Infatuation

"Hawaiian Bros is in the new Kitchen United Mix space, meaning they don’t have a physical restaurant, but are instead available exclusively for takeout and delivery. The focus here is on plate lunches - with things like huli huli chicken or luau pig over rice with macaroni salad - but they also have spam musubi and Dole whip soft-serve. We really like the molokai chicken and slow-roasted kalua pork (luau pig) here. And we’re convinced that their house-made pineapple barbecue sauce would be great on just about anything, but it’s especially good on the pork." - Nicolai McCrary

Google
El and the staff here at the Houston Westheimer location were top-notch and professional. Our family got excited at the thought of Hawaiian food in Texas and they greeted us at the door and explained everything at their order kiosk. Food was hot and delicious and the dole whip was so good! Thank you so much 😁

Google
We stumbled on this place while out mapping the area, and it instantly became a new favorite. The food is crazy flavorful - we tried the Honolulu chicken, Kalua pork, and even the Spam musubi (which was 🔥). The Pineapple BBQ sauce was so good my wife stole mine - no lie. Loved the portion sizes, and the mac salad was a great touch. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, and hit that comfort food level. Clean spot, fast service, friendly vibes definitely coming back!

Google
My go-to spot for Hawaiian food. You place your order on one of the screens and the food comes out pretty quickly. The employees were happy to explain all of the offerings and answer any questions. The meat was tender and all of the food was flavorful. I just wish they were closer to me!

Google
Jorge had phenomenal. Customer experience was very informational on my first visit walked me through the menu. Accommodated me with extra utensils and sauces. 100% will be coming back. Give him a raise. sweetest guy ever. best service I’ve ever had hands down.

Google
Seems like a hidden gem. Feels empty when the building is so pretty & the food is really good! Going to Hawaii next week so me & the husband are going to compare it. Would definitely recommend :) As for the food, they don’t hold back for the meat. The Mac is actually really good as a side with the rice. $30 for a classic & large meal & a drink? Worth it.

Google
I had this place saved for a while so finally my boyfriend and I decided to try it. We both ordered the mixed plate, one with Huli + Hono chicken the other with Huli + Molo chicken for $13 each, totaling roughly $28. For almost $30, I wasn’t impressed at all. The amount of chicken was a joke, there was absolutely zero grilled taste, and every ‘flavor’ tasted exactly the same. Not only that, but even the sides were lacking— the portions were child-sized and the flavor of the mac was strange to where I couldn’t even eat it. Everything in general was lukewarm and floppy/soft. On top of all of that, the woman working the drive thru at the time was rude. We drove around to pick up our order and she was dangling the bag outside of the window. I consider that kind of behavior insulting (kind of like how some people put down money on a hard surface and make the other person pick it all up). That alone made me never wanna come back. I want a refund but doubt that’s gonna happen, so I figured at least I’d come here and leave my review. I can’t recommend this place.

Google
Cute spot with good Hawaiian food. It isn’t mind blowing, but it does the trick. The Honolulu chicken was our favorite out of all the meats. The mac salad is more saucy and creamy than other places. Overall good spot!

Google
Me and the wife went to this place to have a nice meal. We were treated real kind of courteous. The manager has excellent customer service and is very knowledgeable with helping you pick a selection. I would recommend this place to any visitors or residence. They like good food and good services.

Yelp
I m from California and I always goto L&L Hawaiian whenever I need my Hawaiian food fix. This local joint got my attention when I was driving by one day, so I had to stop and check it out. This place is pretty new I would say cuz it looks nice and clean from the outside and the inside. When I walked in they have 2 different counters, you can order from the one on the right side, then pick it up in three middle counter, or you can place your order thru one of their 4 kiosk machines on the left side. I used the kiosk machine since it was my first time there. I ordered their regular teriyaki chicken plate. The manager actually brought out my food to my table instead of having to pick it up myself, so I think that was a great service. The chicken was nice and tender, they also give you two different sauce, teriyaki sauce and pineapple bbq sauce. I would recommend this place if you want some good Hawaiian food. The only thing I didn't like about this place was they have to open the bathroom for you because I think this will prevent some homeless uses their bathroom for free.

Yelp
It's been a couple of years since the Hawaiian Bros chain made its debut along Westheimer and it's been one of the area's busiest spots. Despite multiple locations throughout Texas, this is the only one in Houston. Given the late night hours of operation, hefty portions, loyalty rewards system, and friendly service, I've become a regular. The place has the feel of a fast food spot but with a fast casual restaurant quality vibe. They've got a very decent mix of indoor and outdoor seating along with convenient options that include self-order screens on the inside and a drive-thru on the outside. The signage is bright and the corner location means that it's hard to miss. I've dined in a handful of times, but the past dozen visits have been all takeout and drive-thru. I have realized that it's been a quicker experience and the food experience is roughly the same. Plus it's ideal for pre-ordering, which one can do from their app and simply come by to pick it up. Drive-thru is the easiest experience, given the small menu and the quick service. Plus it's kind of cute to listen to the staff butcher the names of the dishes (#1) when repeating the order back to me. Each of the platters is a good amount of food. Should one opt for the full size ($16), it comes with a protein (pork, chicken) and a nice double scoop of rice. It's so heavy that it often comes as a surprise for first timers who don't realize there is a scoop of rice that is a side, but also one that is a bed for the protein. Speaking of protein, the huli huli is essentially their version of teriyaki. It's sweet and comes in a healthy of helping of chicken chunks. I also think the kilauea chicken is their spicy version, which has a nice kick compared to the rest. The luau pig is solid and is seasoned with just salt. The molokai chicken is the ideal chicken choice since it's both sweet and spicy, but close to mild on the latter. All the combos can be ordered without rice (#2) for an extra $1 and their sides of pineapple, macaroni salad, and more white rice. The musubi at $3.50 is nearly highway robbery at that portion, but it works in a pinch. Plus it's very warm unlike the room temp ones I'm used to getting in Hawaii. Ultimately the food is a notch down from the real thing. However, it's hard to argue with consistency with service and food, which is how I expect chains to operate. They are an ideal late night eats spot and I know I'm in a substantial meal every time I'm here. ___________ (#1) Musubi is suddenly "mah-sue-bee" (versus moo-soo-bi), luau is "low" (lew-ow), and huli huli is "huh-lee" (hooley). (#2) Because low carb is totally a thing.

Yelp
Fun vibes here with an excellent friendly staff. Loved the dole whip soft serve and the Mac salad. The mixed plate I ordered (spicy chicken and the pork) was alright. Maybe a tad salty for my taste
google avatar

Yelp
Great casual fast-food spot with fresh food and generous portions at a great value. Service is always incredibly kind and positive! My favorite is the luau pig, and make sure to grab a side of the Mac salad. Haven't tried the dole whip but will one of these days!
google avatar

Rebecca N.

Yelp
My husband had eaten to-go food from here before and enjoyed it, but we had never eaten in the restaurant. We stopped in the other day and had the best experience. The staff was so kind and accommodating with our kids. The pig was incredible- definitely recommend!

Yelp
After passing a spot enough times I tend to want to check it out. Did the drive thru on this one. Clear simple menu with descriptions which was nice since otherwise I'd have no idea that Molokai would have a sweet heat. I personally enjoy that type of flavor. Basically teriyaki with a bit of heat. The macaroni salad was basically a cream sauce with a lot of pepper as the seasoning. Not bad and better than some similar spots. The service was quick and friendly. Offered me to try their specialty drinks too. Overall I just felt the meal was missing a touch of something. But decent tasting.
google avatar

Tim F.

Yelp
Overall, everything was good. The Molokai Chicken was tasty and sweet, just how you'd expect it to be! The rice was fluffy and sticky. And the macaroni was a perfect creaminess to add to it all. My wife looked her little keiki meal along with her spam musubi. We both thought that the musubi lacked seasoning and was a bit tooo thick for the rice.
google avatar

Briann R.

Yelp
The service was fantastic, it was our first time there and a lady in the front generously walked us through how to order. I don't have a lot of experience with Hawaiian food but what I had I enjoyed! I can't remember the exact name of the chicken I got but between my boyfriend and I we tried multiple types and we are all delicious. I made the person mistake of keeping a side of rice even though the chicken came out a bit of rice. I wish I would've tried something different. However, the Mac salad was great.

Yelp
I was immediately intrigued by this place because of the impressive 4.9 Google review (with thousands of review). Customer service is great; cashier came out to greet me and help with the options on the kiosk. So adding a star for that. Unfortunately, I have knock down a few points for the food. The chicken seems to be all the same with the "flavor" coming from the sauce you put on top (I got 2 of these sauces to try them out). The chicken could not stand on its own. For example, you could eat chicken nuggets on their own, with dipping sauce greatly enhancing the experience. However, here the chicken is nothing without the sauces, and so I felt that there was no complexity of flavors to experience. I'd even go as far as to say I'd even take those mall teriyaki chicken platters because even those have wok hey flavor smoked into them. My other gripe is how sodium-heavy the meal feels, and lack of veggies. Maybe Hawaiian cuisine is just not for me.
google avatar

Brittany M.

Yelp
I really like this place. Fast, efficient, tasty. The only ding is that I wish there was a bit more meat and bit less rice. It was also a bit salty but overall good for a week night spot.

Yelp
Had a great time stopping by. I love Hawaiian BBQ so I was excited to try this place out. Upon entering we were greeted by Ms. Love who has an incredible personality made us feel welcome and walked us through the menu step by step. I loved all of the chicken options my favorite being the Kilauea chicken which had spice with a hint of sweetness. Next time I would get a side of vegetables instead since the chicken comes on top of rice along with a separate side of rice and Mac salad. The Mac salad was my least favorite on the plate, I've definitely had better but overall it was okay with the meal. We overall rated our plates an 8. I love the environment of the restaurant as it's open but also bright with cute accents. I also enjoy the option of outdoor seating for the ultimate vibe while eating. I'd definitely visit again. Especially for the amazing energy from Ms. Love.

Evie T.

Yelp
The food is amazing, the customer services were excellent. And the whole place is nice and clean. We also enjoyed the ice cream a lot! This was my second time coming back. It's a bit far from where I live but the food and ice cream is great and reminds me of my time in Hawaii

Yelp
I love the idea of a Hawaiian-themed restaurant with a drive thru. Now, I just need to see more drive thru sushi spots (Haha!). Having never been to Hawaii, my idea of Hawaiian cuisine is kind of warped. I've tried it in NYC, but I think the best judge of Hawaiian cuisine is someone who has actually visited the islands. That said, what I think is really great about Hawaiian Bros is the customer service on the drive thru side of this business. No matter who is working the windows, the service is always professional, friendly and top notch. The times I've been here, I always get the spam musubi. I did a taste test between Hawaiian Bros and L&L, and I have to say Hawaiian Bros won based on taste/flavor, texture and the thickness as well as juicy factor of the spam. Personally, I love seaweed/nori, so I don't like that Hawaiian Bros uses a thin strip of nori, but from what I understand, some restaurants in Hawaii also use a thin strip. What I do like about L&L's spam musubi is the fact they use more nori. The first time I ordered spam musubi from Hawaiian Bros, I did wrap it in some Central Market spicy seaweed sheets. It goes well with the teriyaki sauce, which is good. Looking forward to trying a plate and the pineapple Dole whip next time I visit.

Yelp
The food tastes great! This is my second time going. I love how sweet everything is and the soft serve is a must try. They're always quick and the workers are very kind, fun and keep with the theme of the restaurant. I will say to check your orders! Today I ordered the mixed plate and subbed the BED of rice for vegetables. The plates come with a bed of rice and a ball of rice on the side (where my pineapple skewer is). I ordered the skewer as an extra. They gave me the bed of veggies and not the ball of rice :(. Also, I was expecting a longer skewer for the pineapples and expected it to be grilled, so I probably won't order that again.

Yelp
I got the Classic - Honolulu Chicken and it was so yummy. The teriyaki sauce of the chicken felt almost "too" sweet, but to each their own! The staff here were so friendly, very family and homey atmosphere. Service was nice and fast.
google avatar

Zachary N.

Yelp
I came back! Its gets better with each visit. They are so friendly and have a great atmosphere. They definitely fixed their salt situation because the food was just amazing. This whole place impressed me. The staff are also extremely helpful. If you are in the area and haven't tried this place yet I would definitely recommend coming here.

Yelp
Hawaiian comfort "fast food" that's delicious & authentic. Easy to order (either at the counter or from a kiosk), picked up from a window. Self-serve drinks include tropical fruit juices. The cantaloupe was light & refreshing!!! We had the Luau pig (kalua pork), signature "Huli Huli" (teriyaki) chicken, and spam masubi, with sides of rice & macaroni salad. EVERYTHING is sooo yummy, with generous portions for the price. Felt like we were back on the island... My only wish is there were more Hawiian Bros locations around town!

Yelp
I found this by accident on yelp looking for something else. I saw they had dole whip and I hadn't had it since going to Disney. Because if this I was intrigued to visit. I had passed this place a few times and never thought about going in. This is a quick service place for Hawaiian BBQ and I was not disappointed. For starters, everyone doesn't have dole whip so that was a plus for me. I had it before I had my food and I was immediately taken back to my first time having it. I had the low carb plate with spicy chicken and another chicken and it was good the vegetables were seasoned. I would definitely go back. They are also open until 3 am which is a plus for late night bites.
google avatar

Yelp
I am a big fan of this chain and got the Kileuau Chicken Combo (small size) togo earlier. It was very delicious, fresh, kind of spicy and a little sweet too. I like this dish best of all here personally bc it has a little more heat than the rest of the menu items. The chicken chunks were all soft, tender, mildly crispy and plentiful in amount for a small portion holding some slight chew to them vs its slight crunch. The glaze on them was very catchy with a bit of a brown sugar, honey, pineapple type of vibe to it combined with being very mildly hot. Great contrast. The rice was very fresh, soft, sticky and a perfect pair with the main part of this order. Great, friendly service as usual.
google avatar

Harley P.

Yelp
Fantastic food. I was a little dubious about all the five star reviews, but they are true and this place is worth your dollars. Got to meet Rob and a couple other colleagues, they love their job. They love the company and they love their customers. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
So my entire dad's side of the family lives in Hawaii. I guess they made it that far on the way to America and decided heck this is good enough for us and stayed. So I've been to Hawaii quite a few times. And figured it was time for the kiddo to get a taste of it. My cousin was actually the local Oahu paper's secret food critic and would go around with her company issued credit card under a fake name so people wouldn't know who she was. That was back in the day when those without photogenic memories had to take, or um borrow, the establishments' menus in order to write a review because we didn't have iPhones, internet, yelp, etc. This generations got it all. Ok enough reminiscing. So I asked for a recommendation and they asked if we liked spicy. Well I'm Chinese and I'm wearing my Mark Weins shirt which literally says "not spicy not eating". So heck yeah, for sure. We got the classic size Kilauea chicken (recommended by them), a spam musubi (a must for me) and dole pineapple ice cream (also a must). I don't know if it's the environment of being in the happiest place on earth vs driving down Westheimer, but the ice cream just tasted better in the Animal Kingdom in Orlando. But HB had a nice tartness to it. The spam musubi was ok. As Uncle Roger would say "'ok not bad not bad". I had asked them if they made it fresh but tbh it kinda looked and tasted prepackaged. It has a little something between the spam and rice that I couldn't put my finger on from the one small bite I had because my kid woofed down the rest before I got a second bite. Her first musubi. But definitely not her last. The chicken had a decent kick. For Americans. They gave us two thingys of teriyaki sauce too. Not sure why or what it would go on. It was their own brand of teriyaki sauce by the look of it. It said "manufactured for Hawaiian bros island grill, Kansas City, MO ...". Lol. Well I've never been to Kansas City. Maybe it's actually a haven for Hawaiians coming to the mainland. So I can't really comment. But unfortunately I'm not a big fan of teriyaki sauce in general. So I can't really opine on the flavor. It tasted like I would expect teriyaki sauce to taste like I suppose. Sweet and salty. Package says first 3 Ingredients are "water, sugar, salt". Yup. And with that, straight to the trash. The chicken wasn't too sweet thankfully. But I'd probably try the pig next time which I was kinda eyeing tbh. The menu kinda all looked the same just from the pictures. 4 out of 6 were reddish chicken dishes. Maybe they taste different but I wouldn't be able to distinguish them in a lineup. I wish they had like some ribs or katsu or even loco moco. Anyway I'm glad we went. Definitely worth a try. My kids first Hawaiian food other than poke at costco which she loves. Plenty of seating too by the looks of it, so no reservations or need to book em Danno. Heh heh. Mahalo

Yelp
Where has this place been my entire life? What rock did I live under? My first experience was in Houston. Everything on the menu is incredible. (I can't speak on SPAM, I wouldn't know.) I fear the secret ingredient is sugar, but I'm not going to be diving in deeper to find out. I've used this place to "eat clean," in bodybuilding competition prep, and I wasn't steered wrong. The staff is out of the world attentive, worth a big tip, always kind and cheerful, they are so helpful, and appear to genuinely care that you have a great dining experience. The atmosphere/ambiance is chill, calming, beach like, and just awesome. A++ I'd give this place 6 stars if I could, Back to the food, chicken and rice, from mild to spicy to sweet and it's done very right, it's not fat or sugar free, it's just delicious. I've gone more times than I should admit, next to Chipotle, it's a staple. A true goto, and very worth a visit or two or three if you're near one. Love you guys! Epic!

Yelp
Hawaiian Bros Island Grill is a go to spot for me on game day... the food is awesome, and always fresh.. and if they incorporated a more traditional style with food that would be awesome... the menu is easy to navigate.. the service is always prompt even when busy...dine in or take out.. you won't be disappointed... the ambiance of the restaurant is easy and laid back, very enjoyable. You won't be disappointed.

Karlie B.

Yelp
The service here is amazing. I've been twice now and both times I had a server that had a contagious positive energy! The food is good. I really like the Kilauea chicken. Pro Tip: The plates already come with a bed of rice under the meat. If you're ordering the classic plate, you may want to switch out your SIDE of rice for something else.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
the food was alright, two of the flavors (i'm not quite sure due to not knowing which chicken was which) were flavorful, saucy and tasty. however the others weren't as good. the spam musubi and dole soft serve was delicious, would recommend. the service was so good, very friendly. causal ambiance

Yelp
There is different way to interpret the word Bros, instead of brothers. At Hawaiian Bros Island Grill, everything is hyper-palatable. If you are sensitive with salty food, beware of eating here. I have been to Hawaii and tasted real Hawaiian dishes. I can tell you that this food here is far from being authentic. I have tried 2 dark colored meats a year ago. There was no significant difference on teriyaki chicken and chicken. Shame. I came back last month; I tried Kalua Pork was so salty. Tried to calm it with steam rice but it was soggy with pork juice. Yuk. Macaroni was undercooked in the Macaroni Salad. Again, extremely salty to me. There is nothing could rinse the salty flavor off. In this 3-digit Houston heat, eating Dole Pineapple Soft Serve not helping to cool me down. The restaurant opened during Covid pandemic. Those self-served ordering kiosks are still standing. For first timer, these seem to be overwhelming. I wish there were at least one person taking orders instead fully relying on the machines.

Daisy B.

Yelp
Best customer service , great flavorful food . We were First timers & workers made us feel so welcomed even brought us a sample of the dole desert hands down the best Hawaiian place I've been to in Houston , definitely will be coming back .
google avatar

Natalie E.

Yelp
Delicious! I got the huli huli chicken. It was tender, lean and flavorful; I didn't need the extra teriyaki sauce. Love that they have mixed veggies and pineapple for side options. Heads up, the mac is cold, hence "mac salad". I didn't realize that but it was good.
google avatar

Moody F.

Yelp
These guys are horrible at cooking and even worse at misappropriating Hawaiian culture by trying to trademark real Hawaiian values, words, and terms. The food here was HORRIBLE S#!+. Too much salt, no actual Hawaiian style cooking at all. Sad af. Trying to colonize Hawaiian food along with Hawaiian culture in this day and age is insane, but they are doing that. I hope they close up because they are giving Hawaiian food and the aloha spirit a BAD NAME. All of the people from Hawaii, all Native Hawaiians, and all who love Hawaii for what it really is, we need to make sure that we don't allow horrible restaurants like this to get away with this clown culture. Sad. Smh. Close up shop and don't support this fraudulent restaurant.
google avatar

Shekkola G.

Yelp
I was almost out off by the drive-thru, then I thought "why not?" I'm so happy I tried it! The food is fresh and flavorful. They even made Spam tasty! The only thing I was not excited about were the frozen mixed vegetables. (Anything but frozen vegetables...) I loved being able to enter and pay for my own order at a kiosk. The restaurant was clean, and we got amazing service. I would definitely go back!
google avatar

Mi B.

Yelp
This doesn't look like that trademarked "Aloha Spirit." Hawaiian Bros in my opinion is a gross over-commercialized misrepresentation of real Hawaiian food. The owners aren't even from Hawai'i I don't think.
google avatar

William L.

Yelp
First time here and appreciated the service/staff's recommendation as well as a walkthrough of the menu. Very easy order experience through the touch-screen/self-checkout! I liked the Hawaiian décor and the tasty fountain drinks. The chicken was marinated well, very flavorful, mac salad was okay, the rice was a little too much of a carb overload (under the chicken and also a side dish of rice) but good portions overall so I enjoyed that. Also tried out the Spam musubi and the soft-serve for dessert (too sugary I thought but I can see some liking that). Overall a good experience and would definitely come back!

Ivan A.

Yelp
Need more Hawaiian bro locations. The pasta , rice and marinated chicken is one of my favorite combos . So so good
google avatar

April H.

Yelp
Good customer service. Small portion size for the price. I was still hungry when I left. Good taste if you don't want fried food.
google avatar

Tramaine B.

Yelp
This location offers self order/check out. Theres a person there to assist but its all you. Before ordering sign up for their rewards; you get a free Dole Soft serve you can redeem same day. I ordered mixed with Molokai and vegetables, comes with rice and macaroni salad and a soft serve. The Molokai was tender (more sweet than hot) gave off a little steam but the macaroni salad cooled it down. The macaroni salad caught me off guard; it was so cold. I only ate a few bites when my mouth was a lil warm from the chicken. The Dole soft serve has the delightful pineapple taste but not overpowering. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
I ordered through Uber eats and it was my first time trying this place. Based on past reviews and pictures on the Uber eats app, I decided to try it. I should've just saved my money. I paid extra for a side of macaroni and it was poorly 1/3 filled from the container. Then I opened my plate and box was maybe MAYBE 1/2 full. Food was okay and nothing like what the reviews make it seem to be. Honestly it reminded exactly of how chipotle is skimping out on portions and barely giving anything out. Very disappointed and will never try again.

Alexis v.

Yelp
Every place we wanted to go was closed so we decided to try this place and it was sooooooooo good ! 10/10 would recommend I get the mixed place with both chicken options and my husband gets the mixed plate with the beef options so we get to try all of them

D J.

Yelp
Staff did excellent job explaining menu. Staff friendly. Chicken was really tasty. Liked pork slightly less. Didn't care for pasta salad. Fresh pineapple was perfect. Would return.

Yelp
Mixed Plate: I ordered the Molokai and the Honululu chicken with rice and macaroni. I chose the Teriyaki sauce and Pineapple BBQ Sauce, and I must say, the sauces were actually pretty good! The standout item on the plate was definitely the macaroni. It was incredibly flavorful, and the cheese they used complemented it perfectly. It was hands down the best macaroni I've ever had. The rice was also well-cooked and enjoyable. However, I was quite disappointed with the Honululu chicken. It tasted like it had been frozen, and the flavor was completely lacking. It also seemed to be lacking in seasoning and was difficult to eat. I had to rely heavily on the sauce to make it more palatable. On the other hand, the Molokai chicken was pretty good. While it reminded me of teriyaki chicken, it had its own unique taste and was satisfying. It may have just been an off day for the Honululu chicken, so I'm willing to give it another chance in the future, especially since I've heard great things about this place. 6/10 Service: Despite being a self-service kiosk, the staff working there were friendly and efficiently handled our to-go orders. 10/10

Yelp
Love this place- convenient, fast, amazing food, super friendly staff, and great value. We did the drive-thru, I love that the staff tells you "Aloha" and "Mahalo", it makes us feel like we are in Hawaii! We tried the Molokai chicken plate lunch (lots of white rice, sweet and spicy grilled chicken, and a side of their signature Hawaiian macaroni salad), and the Pacific Island Salad. The plate lunch is excellent, meat is perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection, but lots of carbs. If you are looking for a healthier option, I highly recommend the Pacific Island salad, it is super filling and refreshing, yet light and healthy. They pack everything separately so the salad will stay fresh. It has the perfect combination of crunchiness from the chow mien noodles, sweet and tangy mandarin oranges, crunchy and fresh lettuce, and their secret delightful island vinaigrette. They give a generous amount of the vinaigrette, I was even able to to use the leftover to make an extra salad. The salad comes with a container of delicious Huli huli chicken, juicy, tender, well-marinated. Don't forget to grab a cup of the dole soft serve! It is light, fat-free and dairy free. It is COLD, so it won't melt too fast in this Texas heat. It is a guilt-free treat on its own.

Yelp
During my recent visit to Hawaiian Bros, I experienced one of the worst customer service encounters of my life, leaving me deeply disappointed. Although I've had somewhat good experiences at this location in the past, this time was a complete disaster. The food quality, which used to be decent, has plummeted to a point where it's barely fit for human consumption; the chicken was dry, overcooked, and tasted like it had been reheated multiple times. The bathrooms were shockingly dirty, with overflowing trash bins, unflushed toilets, and an overwhelming odor that made it unbearable to stay in for more than a few seconds. The manager, an African-American lady whose name I didn't catch, was incredibly rude and unprofessional, dismissing my concerns with an attitude that bordered on outright hostility. Her behavior was not only disrespectful but also unbecoming of someone in a leadership position, and she should be demoted or fired immediately. It's baffling how far the standards have dropped at Hawaiian Bros, turning what used to be a pleasant dining experience into a nightmare. This visit has completely tarnished my opinion of the restaurant, and unless significant changes are made, I will never return.

Yelp
We had a great experience here with Johnathan aka "JP" he went out of his way to assist us in our order / providing us with menu insight! Thanks JP, management should recognize his commitment!

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. The food was outstanding and they were very accommodating to our large party for a birthday. "L" hospitality was amazing and would be a primary reason why my family and I would return.

Yelp
There were 4 or 5 self serve tablet kiosks inside, and the first one we tried against the wall had a broken swivel hinge meaning you couldn't move or angle it upwards to read it. We went through the checkout process but the payment reader wasn't working (it has an option to print the order ticket and pay with a person at the desk, but that also wouldn't print and was probably out of thermal paper), so we tried the other one against the wall because the other tablets were being used by other customers. It also had a broken swivel so we had to squat to see the screen again, and the payment reader also wasn't working again, but this one did end up printing so we could pay at the counter once an employee was back there. The ambiance is definitely more of a ghost kitchen/takeout vibe with a cafeteria like counter opening from the kitchen where both takeout and dine in orders are dropped off. We tried a strawberry pineapple swirl dole whip while waiting and neither of us liked it. It wasn't creamy or sweet enough and just tasted like sour yogurt, so we ended up tossing it. I had read reviews that order substitutions are usually forgotten, so I checked our bag before leaving. They don't give you your cups/drinks unless you ask for it so we had to wait for someone to come out of the kitchen to ask for our drink. We also paid to substitute pineapple on one order but both containers had the regular rice and Mac salad. After a bit of waiting, I flagged down someone in the kitchen again and told them my order was missing the pineapple. She said it was inside the container. When I said it wasn't, she insisted it was but gave me a tiny tiny skewer of pineapple (side note, it was very fresh and ripe). As for the food, the rice was nice and moist (sorry for using that word) and absorbed sauce nicely and the Mac salad was very greasy/buttery and heavy but had a solid peppery flavor. We got two mixed plates, one with Luau Pig pork and Huli Huli (teriyaki) chicken, and the other with Molokai chicken (sweet and spicy) and Honolulu chicken (garlic sesame green onion). Out of all of them, we liked Molokai the best but all the chicken sauces tasted too similar, like the base teriyaki plus an extra ingredient. Molokai tasted like teriyaki with a dash of sriracha. Honolulu tasted like teriyaki with a little garlic and topped with sesame seeds and green onion. They weren't different enough, and some of them had too much sauce. We didn't finish the pork because it was heavily over salted like some other reviewers mentioned. Our little pineapple skewer was small but mighty. More of that please. The food was filling but heavy. Ah on a side note, make sure to rinse off your can thoroughly if you order a Hawaiian Sun juice. The top of mine was noticeably dirty and you never know what conditions the shipping transportation/warehouses/storage facilities are in. I posted a picture of the top of mine here but it's not popping up under my review for some reason as of now. Overall, not awful but considering the lack of service and lack of variation in flavor, we'll be trying some other options for Hawaiian bbq in Houston before coming back.

Yelp
This place is generic at best. Costco ingredients with a haole twist. If you're looking for plate lunch look for an authentic Hawaiian place not these culture vultures.. Even the worst plate lunch in Hawaii is better than this place. No thank you and never again.

Yelp
We had an Uber eats gift card and saw that Hawaiian Bros was having a special. I had no idea what Hawaiian food was but was open to trying something new. It was delicious! We ended up ordering more. I really enjoyed the Huli Huli and Honolulu plates. I'm glad I tried something new :)

Yelp
Very nice Hawaiian Bros. I used the coupon for a free plate lunch because I wanted to try y'all out and I was not disappointed. Very flavorful and very filling for the classic plate size. I chose to have a mix of the Kilauea and Honolulu chicken. A good spicy kick and savory mix from both. I also really like the Mac salad. Overall a very good lunch. The service was also good too even though mine was a pickup. The lady who helped me was really nice and had a big smile on her face that was truly genuine. If I'm ever down that way I'll try to stop by.
