Where to Find the Best Seafood in San Diego

"Hidden away in Sorrento Valley is a bustling fish market and cafe dedicated to Hawaiian-style seafood. The seafood case has shoyu ahi tuna and garlic salmon poke, along with slabs of salmon and tuna to take home. Not just a poke place, HFS also serves plates like blackened fish tacos and ahi belly bombs with rice and macaroni salad." - Helen I. Hwang

Popular Hawaiian Poke Spot and Seafood Market Expands in Sorrento Mesa - Eater San Diego

"Hawaiian Fresh Seafood recently relocated to a larger venue geared more towards sit-down dining at Centerpark Labs in Sorrento Mesa, where the working fish supplier is now offering an expanded menu from its takeout counter while running its wholesale operations out of the space. There’s also an on-site fish market where customers can purchase filets." - Helen I. Hwang

EXQUISITE This is my first time here, I've seen it on so many top recommends from people in videos and people have mentioned it in person. I've been meaning to come here for a long time. It's in an obscure location among beautiful corporate office buildings in beautiful Sorrento Valley. I finally made it because I was nearby. It's a little awkward to get to from different locations in San Diego. I thought it was absolutely delicious. Every bite not boring. Loved it. I didn't realize that the line is an issue I got here and was first and it was a tad slow but very very good.

Hawaiian Fresh seafood is pretty much a must stop for us anytime we are in San Diego. We’ve been coming here since they were at their old location. This place is a combination of clean space, plenty of seating, and easy to find parking. Staff is generally pretty friendly and helpful, although during lunch/busy hours you do feel rushed. I feel like there’s always a line here but it says a lot about the quality of the food here. I’m always in the mood for Hawaiian style poke in SD, not the commonly found Cali style poke you find a lot in LA. I love that the poke here is fresh and most importantly, mot overly reliant on sauces. The flavors of the fish come through, and blends perfectly with the selections they offer. You really can’t go wrong with any of their poke. It’s worth it! I’m biased towards their tuna, especially the bluefin poke. On this visit we tried the seared Ahi salad. It was delicious. Generous and well Cajun seasoned tuna, generous avocado. The Cajun spices with the sweet dressing is perfect! Come visit and give this place a try. I think they have other locations, but the one here will always be the OG for us anytime we’re in SD

Came here on a Thursday at 4:30 for an early dinner. This is in Mira Mesa area surrounded by business offices. There was plenty of parking. Upon walking in, you order at the counter. No lines yet at that time but when we left, there was a line. Had the small bowl spicy ahi poke with brown rice. It tasted fresh and spice on the poke was on point. Friends ordered the fish taco, fish & chips, and fish sandwich. Everything was delicious. Will definitely come back to try other items on the menu.

Google
Long lunch time line but totally worth the wait around 1pm on Saturday. I didn't know you had option to choose French fries or tater tots for fish and chips. The Tater tots were super crispy. Love love love the ahi belly bomb and I always only get at least 2 different poke by the pound and add my own rice side and Mac salad side. I also get a musubi to go to eat later. The guys here are awesome and the food is always so delicious. ♥️♥️♥️

Google
This place has a big juicy burger, along with some really good poke. The fish is fresh and on point. They fly it in from Hawaii. The poke nachos are smackin, dont sleep on the octopus. Plenty of outdoor seating. They have shade and sunny seating. Also a decent selection of sweets and beer on tap and can.

Google
I’ve wanted to try this place for a while. I was surprised to find no line around 3pm on a Monday. The staff were super helpful with my first trip there. I got the two most popular poke options, shoyu ahi and garlic salmon in a medium poke bowl. Both were fresh and delicious. I’m looking forward to trying their spicy tuna next time. They had a few tables inside and then good patio/ yard space to sit. I would recommend this place if you want fresh poke.

Google
Yummy poke at Hawaiian Fresh Seafood! Went around 1pm on a work day and there was a line that took about 30 minutes so beware if you’re in a rush. Really liked the shoyu ahi tuna and spicy salmon poke bowl. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Recommend!

Google
We went there for lunch on a Saturday. Since we knew the line would be long, we sent someone ahead of the time to secure our spot in line, which worked out pretty good. We waited a bit, but we had a good time talking and waiting in line. Once inside, we were able to take our time ordering a variety of pokes and other hot food items. Once we got our poles, we waited for our hot food items, which included smash burgers, loco moco, etc. The hot food items were ready in 15-20 minutes which was not too bad, considering how busy they were. Overall, I was so glad that my friends who had eaten there suggested that we try this place. There is a plenty of parking since it’s in a business district (businesses were closed on weekends.) I would definitely go back for more pokes when I am in town.

Yelp
Favorite poke in San Diego! Great selection, fast service, easy parking, but wish there was more seating.

Yelp
The best poke spot I have tried. They have 5 to 6 flavored poke to choose from. Sometimes, they'll have bluefin tuna which has a few $ up charge but it's all so worth it. Not only do they give you good size portions, every bite is absolutely delicious. You can also buy fresh fish to bring home to cook. I brought home some salmon Kama for dinner. They're perfect for grilling and my family loved it. The line gets pretty long during lunch and dinner times but the customer service is always 5/5. They have a few tables inside and more high bars and comfy chairs outside if you wish to dine there. They just opened up a tap bar and also serve a smash burger

Yelp
I would say this is the closest you can taste for Hawaiian poke on mainland. I remember Hawiian Fresh Seafood at a different location but it looks like they moved to a bigger plaza and a nicer building. Be warned there is normally a huge line going out its doors. the lines do move pretty fast so don't worry. If you're looking for a quick in and out in 10 minutes.. maybe not, maybe a 15-20 but def worth the wait. You can order by the pound or by platter. my favorite has to be the tuna and cant go wrong with the shoyu. There is limited seatings indoor and a lot of fun outdoor seating or have your own picnic! Every SD trip has had a stop here and I dont think I would skip that

Yelp
Used to be called Market at HFS, but they've remodeled / moved. Drove to SD for this and it's probably the closest to Hawaii poke. They give a lot of fish, and it's paired with rice... but if you aren't too used to Hawaiian poke, there's no other toppings. Some of my friends noted that they felt a little sick eating all that fish, but I'm a fiend and I enjoyed every second of it. I'd argue this is one of the best poke spots in California. There's usually a line judging from all the times I've gone, but their service is fast so it moves fast.

Yelp
Normally, I am not a raw fish fan but this was so good! We came for dinner on a Sunday and the line was fairly short. My favorite was the garlic salmon and they were generous with their portion sizing. The wonton chips were crispy too!

Yelp
Was visiting SD for Crssd music festival so decided to stop by on the recommendations of local friends. They warned us about the long lines but we were able to beat the rush by 10 mins. The line outside was insanely long oooof. Haven't had poke since trip to Hawaii last year and I can say it's quite comparable to the poke at Foodland market. We ordered a medium which came with two scoops of rice and poke and it was actually quite filling. I had the salmon and spicy ahi tuna and wow the spicy tuna was quite spicy.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING. I cant wait to come here again. It's located in a business district and there is plenty of parking. We came on a saturday afternoon and the line for lunch can get pretty long! The bowls are about $22 for 3 scoop plate with rice (you can get white and brown!) The oysters are sold at $1.50 but they are not shucked. You can purchase wholesame from them as well. Everything is caught daily and served fresh!

Yelp
Saw that this place was highly rated but honestly thought it was very ok.... Pros: - huge portions - good ratio of fish to rice to greens Cons: - no additional sides - fish not saucy enough - limited sauces/flavors Overall have had a lot better poke so this just didn't make the mark. Surprised it is really popular though...
google avatar

Charnie D.

Yelp
Amazingly priced poke at $22 for a 3-scoop plate (salad or rice or both). They for sure gave me more than 3 scoops-worth (because it was near closing time). I got the kimchi ahi, Shoyu ahi, firecracker salmon. The kimchi was spicer than I anticipated, I have a low spice tolerance so I am sure most people would like the kimchi. The Shoyu tasted fresh and not overly marinaded. The loco moco was delicious but I just wish the egg was sunny side up but not complaining. The whole assemble of meat, rice, egg, and gravy just brings everything into a perfect bite. Then you chase it down with the mac salad.

Yelp
By Centre Park Labs inside a business area and this was the only restaurant or food place to eat. Run by lots of friendly young men. Was very surprised by the location but seemed to be very popular place that we had to try it out. Lots of parking. Helpful staff. Opens till 8pm on a Saturday and good place to hang out. Lots of seating, tables and lounge couches to sit at. Would have loved to stay and eat there but it got a little chilly during dinner since we came almost to closing time. Fish was fresh and prices are decent for big scoops of fish. Tried avocado salmon, garlic salmon, spicy tuna, shoyu tuna, and bluefin tuna. By far, the bluefin tuna was the best but at extra $4, it better be! The rest needed extra onions but that's me. All very good even the won ton chips. Finally found a place to have a poke bowl and add a side of crispy won ton chips!! Glad they did not run out of poke even at 6:30p on a Saturday. That tells you good service. [53R,2024]

Yelp
Finally got to visit this place from all the hype on TikTok. The place kinda hidden in a little business plaza but once you see it there's usually a line and people sitting outside. There's two lines for just poke and other items like sandwiches. They had 3 options for poke sizes being 1 scoop, 2 scoop, and 3 scoops. I ended up getting the 3 scoops since I wanted to try the whole menu. I got the kimchi ahi, garlic salmon, and firecracker salmon. The fresh flavors of the fish enhanced the added ingredients so I was very happy. It's on the pricier side but it was worth it. Mac Salad is also fire and was $3. The overall ambiance of the place was very fast and seating both inside and outside. They had customers coming in and out constantly.

Yelp
My sister introduced me to this place and it's hands down the best poke spot in SD! The fish is super fresh and high quality, nothing like I've ever tasted for poke before!! We especially love their spicy ahi and garlic salmon. They always change out their list of proteins every day, so you get to try different flavors! I always crave this whenever I visit :-) TIP: Weekends can get busy especially during the lunch rush so expect to wait 20-30 mins in line. Sooo worth it though! You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Sammi L.

Yelp
Came to Hawaiian Fresh after multiple recommendations, and the poke was worth the wait! It's hard to find good, affordable poke like Foodland in HI anywhere on the mainland, but this hit the spot. The line moved pretty quickly, and staff were friendly and helpful. It's nice to be able to sit outside in their open space. Would definitely come back again - the poke is flavorful and there are a lot of options.
google avatar

Thomas B.

Yelp
Pretty solid poke place that actually does more than just good poke! They have reasonable prices on fish to take home and also some other hot items. The flavors seem to rotate so you can't always rely on a specific flavor for your poke. Our favorites have been cilantro mayo, miso salmon, and spicy ahi. Each one had a nice balance of flavors and was complimented nicely by the rice. The garlic salmon, chili peppa salmon, limu onion ahi, yellowtail, have been just ok, they didn't have the same balance of flavors. We have had the calamari and it was legit! I always prefer the steaks over rings and their batter was crispy and delicate. I would securely recommend getting there as early as you can as it gets busy. However, the workers are always nice and seem to move the line as quickly as they can. Everything is provided in to go containers and after ordering you find a seat. The space is a clean and new business area that has plenty of outdoor seating, most with shade.
google avatar

Yelp
Decided to check this place out since I've seen raving reviews but I think it's a bit overrated. I came in with high expectations but it basically tasted like Yard House's poke nachos with higher quality fish. The nachos were overdressed, making it a little too salty for my liking. Definitely felt overpriced for the portion too. If I were to come back, I'd probably get a poke bowl or plate instead. Service was quick and easy, and it was located in a business park which had plenty of parking.

Yelp
New place, who 'dis? Finally made my way to their new location and it's looking great! All bright and shiny; I especially got a kick out of the floor looking like fish scales (I see what you did there). There's some tables inside, but you want to be outdoors where that San Diego sun hits right. As per usual, I ordered a poke plate with three scoops. - Spicy Salmon | Love the little spice kick added to this poke. This goes without saying (again), but the salmon is incredibly tender and just feels like it melts in your mouth. Highly recommend. - Garlic Salmon | I've talked about this before in my previous Yelp review, but this poke mixture is comprised of their silky soft salmon with bits of garlic and crunchy sweet onions. Sesame oil is massaged in and gives it that nutty, earthy flavor. It's one of my favorites. - Shoyu Ahi | A little more firm than the salmon, but still tender nevertheless. The thin slices of onion give it a nice contrasting crunch. I also bought an excessive amount of cookies who are made by a company called Caked, which is not too far from HFS (8680 Miralani Drive Ste. 129, San Diego, CA 92126). I have a more detailed review at their own Yelp page, but the gist of it is that there's some pretty unique cookies to try out. One of my favorites is the Matcha Green Tea cookie, but all time favorite is Birthday Cake cookie.

Yelp
I was super excited to try out the poke here but was completely underwhelmed! We picked two different salmon poke (furikake and garlic) and they tasted exactly the same. My garlic salmon was not prepared too nicely - still had some of the muscles in some pieces making it very chewy and just unevenly cut overall. The only highlight of this spot was the easy parking in a private shopping center lot, and the amount of outdoor seating available.
google avatar

Jenning L.

Yelp
Be prepared to wait if you come around lunch time! We waited about 40 minutes to order. They do have limited seating indoor (3 tables) but they also have outdoor seating in the complex. Otherwise the fish is very fresh and worth the wait. You can't go wrong with any of the selections they have for the day.
google avatar

Katherine K.

Yelp
I used to absolutely love this place when I was walking distance from it. Now, it has really gone downhill. Prices have increased, portions have gone down and quality has decreased. I always got the Poke Nachos, which are now $16 for one protein choice. I used to either get half and half or get a second protein for $4. Now, they won't do half and half and the second protein is $8. Considering the first portion of protein was smaller than it used to be, this price increase is insane (especially when it is only $3 to add protein scoops to the poke bowl). I got their Shoyu Ahi, which was fresh and tasty, but covered by the sauces. This place is such a ripoff now.
google avatar

Stella Z.

Yelp
The best poke in San Diego. Super authentic and is the closest poke that I have tasted to the ones I had in Hawaii. Super fresh fish and they always give you great portion sizes. Highly recommend going and everyone working there is super friendly.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. Where do I even start? After visiting Hawaii for the first time a few years ago, I've been on the hunt for poke that even remotely resembles the insanity of flavors I tasted there. I've had a place come close, but none as close as HFS. I've never been a huge fan of tuna until I visited Hawaii. The tuna I had there was like melt-in-your-mouth, candy-like bites of heaven. The tuna here really just took me back there. I felt like I was sitting by the beach eating my Foodland poke again. I do have to warn that bowls here don't contain any seaweed salad/krab or any of the usual toppings at other places. However, the fish is so good on its own, you don't need any of the other frills to distract from it. Definitely be prepared to wait in line for at least 20-30 minutes during peak hours though. Seating is abundant outside, which is great during these summer months. There's really nothing like eating a delicious poke bowl under the sun. Not sure how that'd feel during our colder months out here though. The prices here are definitely a big jump from Foodland prices, but I'll gladly pay for it again and again. I've spent about $60 in the last week on poke here and I have no regrets. I may have to create a separate budget for poke alone just so I can keep coming back here on a regular basis. No regrets though, just pure bliss
google avatar

Citlali A.

Yelp
Man, the people were so nice, but I gotta say the bowls left a lot to be desired-- would say 3.5, but 4 because of the niceness! Was better than your chain-type poke bowl place, but wasn't as good as I'd hoped. The rice was too hot (not warm) and really starchy. The fish was a bit too sinewey and the flavor just left something to be desired. The spam musubi was solid, but just had too much rice. I dunno, I guess I've been spoiled from poke other places, but I was just a little dissapointed.
google avatar

Rudy M.

Yelp
I had the poke plate with spicy salmon, the cilantro and the Furakaki. All three were delicious and came with two scoops of rice. I wish they would give sushi paper with it so I could make little cups of sushi with it. The fish and chips were OK. I was not thrilled about the green onion. Sprinkle that was all over them, especially on the french fries. This place during lunchtime is complete insanity. Give yourself more than extra time to have your food and get back to work.

Yelp
Super fresh Hawaiian style poke located...in a business park? Hey, whatevs, man. It's delish and works for me. They offer up a rotating menu of freshly marinated pokes served atop rice or salad. It's simple but the flavors are there so not much else is required. The menu also had some hot dishes like loco moco and fish & chips but I stuck with the tried and true. I ordered a medium bowl (2 scoops) with white rice. Yours truly opted for the Pearl Harbor, a sweet & salty ahi and a scoop of the Kilauea, a spicy salmon. Great combo, awesome flavors. Service was fast and friendly and you get your money's worth of sea creature in a bowl.
google avatar

Danielle L.

Yelp
My family and I think this is the best poke in San Diego. The bowls have good portions, and the fish is always fresh. They have other Hawaiian food as well that we haven't tried. The outdoor area is great for hanging out and enjoying the food, and the staff are always so friendly. I definitely recommend HFS!
google avatar

Anne L.

Yelp
Recommended by my husband as the "best poke spot". We frequently get poke bowls and we're big fans of fresh salmon. The line was very long on a Sunday afternoon out the door and around the patio. The line moved at a consistent speed and wasn't so bad as we looked over the selections of the day (you can find this on their instagram posted to their story daily!) I got the garlic salmon and the onolicious(mix of fish, sauce, krab) over rice. It was a bit spicier than I typically like but so good and very fresh! Definitely recommend this spot!
google avatar

Rene C.

Yelp
This place is located in a business area. There are lots of parking so that's good. My fiancé and I came here on a Sunday afternoon and the line was pretty long. We waited for about an hour... We ordered two plates which came with 3 choices of protein each, seaweed salad, 2 hawaiian sun drinks, and spam musubi. My fiancé got the white rice plate with cilantro mayo salmon, spicy salmon and the yellowtail. I got the half white rice and half spring mix with shoyu ahi, garlic salmon, and the pearl harbor. Both of our favorites would be the cilantro mayo salmon and the pearly harbor! It was so flavorful which we liked. Service was okay. They are fast so I felt like they were just rushing and trying to get through everyone. Ambiance is nice. They have like 4 tables inside with some chairs. There's also an outside area with plenty of tables and chairs which is nice. I'm not sure if we will come back since I thought it was just okay. For the long drive here, it was good to just try if you're nearby San Diego.

Yelp
HFS is one of San Diego's top poke places! At their new location in center park labs, the outdoor seating is modern chic! It is counter service and then find your own seats. Their poke is what everyone comes for! They have rotating flavors everyday of different ahi and salmon, with the occasional octopus in there! They also sell raw fish by the pound! Cilantro Mayo Ahi: this is great if you like a creamy poke! It is a little spicy, with a heavy cilantro taste. Perfect with the white rice. California Ahi: ahi tuna with added imitation crab and some mayo, this is really creamy and takes like a high end California roll. A Cali classic, again, great with rice. Miso Salmon: salmon here is not as good as the ahi in my opinion. This is still really great with a strong miso flavor. Great with rice. Blue Fin Tuna: you can eat this straight. The fish is so fresh and tender. The simple soy and sesame flavors really pair well with the fish texture here. Best thing here! (Will cost extra) Ahi Belly Bomb: these are great if you don't like raw fish, it's deep fried ahi belly drizzled in kewpie mayo and unagi sauce. Served with rice and a choice of Mac or seaweed salad, this is a great balance of textures and flavors. Not as good as the poke in my opinion, but still really good.

Yelp
This place was great with really fresh poke at a great price! The service is fast and also very nice outdoor seating area which was cute!
google avatar

Brianna L.

Yelp
super fast service for poke! once we entered the building i was able to pick my fish and get my order in less than 5 minutes. there's little inside seating but plenty of outside tables. the poke is super fresh and has a good marinate. they also give you a generous amount of fish per scoop. would recommend if you enjoy poke!

Yelp
Great poke, but be prepared to wait. We arrived around 1:30 PM on a Sunday, and the line was out the door. Although we expected it to move quickly, it took almost an hour to get our food. We ordered two medium bowls: one with garlic salmon and shoyu ahi, and the other with firecracker salmon and Pearl Harbor. The fish was definitely fresh. While the garlic salmon and shoyu ahi were a bit bland for our taste, we really enjoyed the Pearl Harbor and firecracker salmon, which were much more flavorful. They offered six varieties of poke when we went, but I wish they had more options. Overall, this is a solid poke place, but I wish the wait wasn't so long. They had outdoor seating which is nice if your want to bring your pets.
google avatar

Iris K.

Yelp
The poke was well made and the place seems popping during lunch. My son did the happy dance while eating. It has unique flavors and had fresh poke. I will be coming again if we are ever in the area.

Leslie G.

Yelp
This place always hits. If people are new in town and they like poke, I always take them here. I came here on a Saturday for lunch, and not to discourage you, but the line was so long. I think we waited for and hour and a half for poke, but honestly, it's worth the wait. This place is second to none. The fish is fresh, there places to eat inside and a lot outside. There's cornhole to play on the grassy area. The place is clean, it's so spacious outside. There's outlets on one of the tables if you want to study. Easily my favorite poke spot. I think the cilantro mayo is my new second fave. Shoyu always number 1. The poke bombs were okay. Kind of messy to eat. Chilled. I think next time I'll try the ahi belly bomb. This is a must go place if you like poke!

Yelp
Lowkey poke deli & seafood spot in a business plaza Hawaiian Fresh Seafood is one of those places you'd rather gatekeep for yourself, but sharing is caring and you'll be happy I shared. You can also find another location at Liberty Public Market, but I'm told this is their original. There are two lines-- one for poke and one for everything else (cooked dishes). If you're looking for poke, there will likely be a line. The poke here was super fresh and seasoned just right. We tried the ahi tuna and the garlic salmon. A scoop over some warm sushi rice made for the perfect summer afternoon snack. What's nice about their poke bowls is that they don't fill your bowl with a ton of other toppings--it's just fish because that's the star. They also sell a variety of other seafood items (fish and chips, grilled fish plates, fried squid) as well as Hawaiian dessert items (ube crinkle cookies). There's no seating inside, but plenty of tables on the lawn out front. There are no restrooms inside either, but it's likely because most people who come to this location are doing a grab & go or work in the nearby offices. We had to take a pound or two of poke home with us to keep the poke party coming--it was that good!
google avatar

Evan K.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for good poke and look for the best, authentic fresh fish, and Hawaiian Fresh Seafood checked all of those boxes! Many people enjoy the build-your-own poke, but while it can be good, the best poke should already be marinated and seasoned. Driving to this location, it's in an area with many business offices. There is plenty of parking in the front; you will find this spot when you see the big line from outside. Right next to the line, there are outside tables to sit at. I've been here two times, and the line takes about 30 minutes to get through. I noticed that the person taking the orders or scooping the food was super slow both times. My biggest critique is that someone else should be helping at the counter. The cash register person was handling both registers, so that went fast. As for the food, they give a decent portion of fish and top it off with seaweed. The Spicy Tuna, Garlic Salmon, and Shoyu Tuna are all a must-try. If I were to return, I would stick with the Spicy and Shoyu tuna.

Yelp
Heard many great things about this institution, and I can't say that I'm disappointed. They serve fresh Hawaiian-style poke - no, you won't find seaweed salad nor corn fix-ins at this establishment; it'll just be plain and simple marinated fish. The line was pretty long but we did arrive at noon on a Sunday. I will say that the food is delicious. The fish was an incredible texture and brought me right back to my vacations in the islands. The price? Not as delicious. It'll be $19 a bowl with a standard amount of fish and rice. It's a bit outrageous but the quality is admittedly great. Not sure if it'll be a repeat restaurant on my list, but it's still great to try if you're in the area.

Yelp
Bit hard to find, tucked amongst biotech buildings. Long line, about 40 minute wait on a Saturday noon. Rotating poke options, so check their instagram to see daily options! + 1/4lb Spicy Salmon ($23.99/lb so ~$7): salmon w spicy mayo and masago wasn't too spicy and was tender (7.8/10) + 1/4lb Onolicious ($25.99/lb so ~$7): liked the slight sweetness from the imitation crab and unagi sauce. Liked this one more! (8.5/10) + Special Ceviche Nacho Plate ($13): decent amount of ceviche w some avocado slices. Ceviche is citrusy, refreshing but would stick w their poke! (7/10) I used the chips to eat w my poke too.

Yelp
1 star for location & ambiance 1 star for friendly service 1 star for freshness & how it looks Minus 2 stars for the most important component of all, FLAVOR Got the non spicy salmons & octopus and all of them lacked any sort of flavor or any sauce....it was dry(?). I don't know if thats their intention, to focus more on the freshness & quality but wow it was all so underwhelming. Will not be returning.

Yelp
Great fresh poke for a reasonable price! This is some of the best poke you can get in SD. Lines are usually very long if you're getting poke. I recommend coming 11am or 11:30am before the lunch rush. Plenty of parking 8/10 salmon poke 9/10 spam musubi 6/10 ahi belly bomb 7/10 cookies

Yelp
I came here with high expectations since I've seen nothing but raving reviews on social media and Yelp, but sadly I was disappointed. I got the 3 scoop plate with Hawaiian Spicy Ahi, Garlic Salmon and Firecracker Salmon and they were all surprisingly...bland? I did come towards the end of the day at 5pm, so it mightve been end of the day poke but I was so disappointed. I love Hawaiian poke and honestly, this was a huge let down since it was nothing like island poke I'll probably come again towards opening hours to give it another chance.

Yelp
Hands down the freshest fish I've ever had in San Diego! I've always wanted to try this place and had high expectations! It did not disappoint! For starters they did move their location at some point so some of the photos of the outside/inside of the establishment are of the old location. However, the place is easy to find and has plenty of parking. Upon walking to the store, you see tons of outside seating available. And there's also plenty inside the store as well. I came around 3pm on a Sunday and the line was about 20 minutes. I'm assuming this is just a one-time/rare time but when I came, the kitchen was closed and only spam musubis were available. However, poke was still available! Just nothing grilled/fried etc. I ended up getting the nachos with shoyu ahi after seeing the photos and reviews. They did not disappoint! It came with avocado and sauce as well. My boyfriend got his own bow as well and he was happy. Overall I'll definitely be back. They do change flavors of poke daily so I'd definitely keep that in mind but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the flavors!

Yelp
Amazing poke that hits the spot. Lived in Hawaii for a few years and this place brings me back to the islands. Love coming here during our trips to San Diego to visit family. Check out their discounted day old poke if you are looking for a bargain. Still fresh! Options vary on the daily. Lots of varieties but they have the OG kinds like Shoyu and Spicy Mayo

Yelp
I got the firecracker salmon poke nachos and my husband got the garlic salmon poke nachos. I liked that there was a nacho option, but I think the eel sauce+spicy mayo might have pushed it toward being too salty for me (or maybe it was the marinade on the fish itself), so I would not get it in this style again. It was an enjoyable change of pace to try it once, though! I do appreciate that it comes topped with avocado. My firecracker salmon wasn't that spicy and the marinade didn't have any distinct flavor that stood out to me. The variety of flavors they had available on this day wasn't too impressive. I wish they had more flavor options or at least more different/unique flavor combinations. The fish tasted really fresh. The employees were nice. I would definitely give this place another visit because it has potential.

Yelp
Came to a long line that lasted about 20 minutes but service was pretty quick. You can tell their poke is fresh by the look and taste (spicy ahi was my fav). The portions were filling and I had to finish my friends' bowls at one point haha The poke bowls are served to you instantly but the specialty items like nachos or the belly bomb will take around 15-20 minutes especially during lunch time. Staff were sweet considering how many people they had to serve :). It was a little overpriced for my liking but it should be expected for a small business with good, fresh poke!

Yelp
Random location, legit poke so it all evens out. We seriously thought Google Maps was taking us in the wrong direction after going to Ballast Point but what do you know, this place IS smack dab in the middle of a business park! They have their poke in a deli case with a balanced selection of mild and hot. I wish I would have sampled the super hot Kileaua (sp?) one I got because it was the spiciest poke I've ever had and a little too much for me! The spicy aioli one I had was solid and whole still spicy, I didn't have to drink 24 oz of water to cool down. They make their musubi made to order and it has a hefty serving of teriyaki glaze with it, nice little touch! The atmosphere is sterile with a huge echo so I recommend taking to go.

Yelp
Tucked in a corner of a large business park is a poke shop dishing out hearty portions of seafood! While their menu offers seafood plates, burgers, sandwiches, tacos and more, my go-to is the poke! Just fresh, marinated seafood with rice or salad. Simple and always delish. A friendly worker recommended the crowd favorites, so we ordered all three poke flavors. *Highly recommend the Spicy Salmon and Garlic Salmon! The Hawaiian Tuna had dry seasoning and wasn't too flavorful. I absolutely love how healthy this protein-packed meal can be! This would be a fantastic option for a quick lunch break or a casual hangout with friends. If I lived closer, I'd totally be a regular here.

Yelp
Upon entering, there was a long line almost drifting through the entrance. Really nice interior and the fish is on the pricier side compared to the location in Point Loma. Portions are also smaller too and there's no happy hour. Might seem like I'm complaining, but the Point Loma location has less options. Decided to get a classic small poke bowl that was $15. There was way more rice than fish but the fish tasted good. Also ordered some poke nachos with firecracker salmon and the firecracker salmon was the better option. Overall, pretty pricey for the portion size but delicious nonetheless.

Yelp
This is my first time coming back to Hawaiian Fresh after their store upgrade and I don't know why it took me so long to come back. It's simply amazing and hands down my favorite place to get poke in San Diego. I ordered the poke plate which I ended up not being able to finish. I actually am not a huge fan of tuna but the tuna I got was my favorite out of the three proteins I got (the other 2 being salmon). I don't remember the name of the sauces exactly but I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of them. I think I might be a tuna lover now because of this place! I was also surprised to see that they have options other than poke now, making it great for those who can't eat raw fish. All I can say is that I am jealous of the people who work nearby this place because if I did I would be coming here every single day for lunch!
