Hawksmoor Air Street

After seeing all the YouTube videos about Hawksmoor, expectations were sky-high. It was good but not exceptional. The staff doesn't wear uniforms but private clothes, which is unusual for a restaurant. The staff is running back and forth and is quick to refill your water, and for this, you pay an "optional" 12,5% service fee. I don't feel it is optional, and I prefer the system where you can enter tips on the card terminal. We went for the Express menu, which had three starters, main courses, and desserts. You can choose two dishes for £29 or three for £33, which is quite attractive. We decided on the potted meat and bacon starter, which was both delicious and a rather big serving. The rump steak was tasty but a bit tough, and it didn't come with any sauce (you can order sauce separately). The watercress salad was fresh, though. We decided on different desserts, but the passionfruit Pavlova was refreshing. The restaurant is boisterous, and this is not where to have an important conversation.

Delicious food in a charged environment. I love coming here. It's got a great vibe - full of energy. But noisy and you have to speak up to be heard but aside from that the food is great and service is good too. Come here for a fun night out with friends rather than a serious business meeting.

Definitely splashed out and Hawksmoor definitely delivered. Everything chosen was of exceptional quality. It was a very busy lunch service but everything delivered promptly, sexy looking and incredibly tasty. Don't have anything to add except - go here at least once when you're in London!

Came specially on a Saturday for their full English breakfast, and it did not disappoint! Every component was delicious and well executed. We ordered the portion for 1 and added a salad, which was enough for 2 to share. The 2 pax portion has a bacon chop instead of a bacon. One of the best full English breakfasts I’ve had

Had an amazing time with my boyfriend at this restaurant for his birthday. The steak was delicious and so were the mussels too! We were pleasantly surprised by the candle and 'happy birthday' written on the plate!

A really good Hawksmoor. Rang up and managed to get a booking even though there wasn't one available online so big tick. Came for the Sunday roast and time was tight but the staff accommodated us again, another tick. Tables were close together but that's fine, got speaking to a nice American couple next to us so the atmosphere was good. This place has a nice vibe in nicely decorated surroundings. Two cocktails and a Sunday roast later my only down point was I foolishly squeezing in the desert. It was however a delicious chocolate and salted caramel tart which I can recommend. Sometimes greed is good.

EXCEPTIONAL SUNDAY ROAST If you’re in London, do not sleep on this outstanding steak house. We went for Sunday roast, and it was out of this world! Meat was juicy and tender, and all the sides were top - amazing gravy as well. Service was top notch, in particular our server from Hungary was excellent! Also, do not sleep in the sticky toffee pudding - amazing! Will definitely be back to try their other cuts!

A great dinner with wonderful service from Vanesa & Team. The mussels were excellent and would definitely have again and recommend. We shared a 900g Porterhouse which was well cooked. A bit more of nerve than I expected and next time I will take the Prime Rib. Overall, a really great meal and excellent service. Thank you! Look forward to coming back.

Loved this place, super cool vibe and great service and hospitality! The English breakfast served on Saturday only is a Must! Best English breakfast around :) They also have a great bar area! ..afterwards take a stroll around Piccadilly Circus! Great location.

First time at Hawksmoor to celebrate our Anniversary! Such a great experience and oh my goodness, the food was amazing. I had the steak and lobster and it was tasty and grilled to perfection. The English lettuce and herb salad was delightful, I had no idea how much I would enjoy this and how well the flavors meshed together. The service was spotty and it could be because they appeared to be busy on a weekend night. Definitely packed to capacity as this restaurant did not appear to be intimate by any means. It was loud at times but we tried to just focus on our table. With so many places in London to try, I can't say we will return immediately but I'm glad we got to experience Hawksmoor.

First time at a Hawksmoor and was not disappointed! We had the Caesar salad and potted beef with Yorkshire puds. These two by themselves can easily be a full lunch! The salad was excellent. Dressing was real Caesar with anchovies sprinkled in it and on the salad itself, though you could ask for them to put the ones on top of the salad on the side. Huge romaine lettuce leaves were uncut and snowed in with parm. Yorkshires were lighter than any popovers I've ever had in the states and the potted beef is like a yummy meaty rillette. Slather with warm onions and voila, instant low carb heaven. We had the porterhouse with gravy and chips for the main. The meat was very good but the potatoes were outstanding. I'm not usually a fries person but man did I luck out ordering the chips this time. They used the first boil then fry method. I swear they used tallow or msg or both. Dipped in the French mustard with horseradish and then marrow gravy had me eating the last of potatoes- usually reserved for DH. It was a very happy evening for all, even with the slowish service.

My husband I recently had a great meal sitting at the bar of Hawksmoor which felt very cozy and quiet. We split an expertly grilled 14 oz ribeye and mashed potatoes which was perfect. My husband's Sour Cherry Negroni was the best he's ever had and my Gruner Veltliner was great. Our waiter was friendly and even offered us a complimentary after dinner drink of Amaro. Highly recommend!

We had a reservation for lunch, but they're really wasn't that many people and I'm sure you could do a walk in just fine. The Sunday roast was an interesting experience, I didn't even know it was a thing until someone told me about it. I would recommend the standard Sunday roast, especially if you are not super into big chunks of steak. My favorite dish was actually the carrots that were part of the trimmings

If you're looking for a fancier dinner in London before a show, this was a great spot! We shared the mussels and beef carpaccio, both were delicious! They had a tasty variety of cocktails as well. We shared the steak for two, it was cooked perfectly! We also shared the Caesar salad, spinach and British vegetables. Overall, a very tasty dinner!

This is what you think about when you think of steak house in London- loud- dark and lots of locals- food was wonderful- I ordered the Sunday roast which was delightful.

Super disappointed in this spot. Pretentious, under designed, super loud and spotty service make this a definite, no-go even in spite of decent food. Server couldn't remember who ordered what, forgotten items, delayed items, random upsell, quantity mistakes. Literally expect better service at the cheesecake factory. Steak and monkfish were really nice - eggs were overdone way too many onions on basically everything. Smoked salmon was super boring. Ugh. Then, after the fact, realized they had put a 12.5% "optional" service charge, but just punched in the total with that in anyway. No no and more no. No way was this place was worth £100 a person.

It is probably the worst dining experience I've had in memory. Reading the reviews foreshadowed the woes when it comes to service. The restaurant was half capacity, and they sat us at the worst possible location. We asked to be moved, which changed the tone for the next 45 minutes. Upon sitting at the new table, the waiter seemed to take his time to greet us intentionally. After 15 minutes, he came back to take our drink order. We attempted to put starters in but were told we had to place the entire order at one time. This is the absolute first that I've heard of this. From Mexico to Scandinavia. I've never been told that before. So we waited another 20 minutes to put our order in. Only to be told they were out of the item. The delivery from the server was rude as well. He did an eye roll and basically walked away like we wasted his time. The menu does warn of this, but you think they'd mention this when you sit down. Honestly, nothing else looked good on the dinner menu. So we asked for the check. At this moment, the kind server realized we were picking up what he was putting down. I've gone to restaurants where the service wasn't intentionally bad. I've gone to restaurants where they were overbooked or understaffed. This is the first time I feel they deliberately tried to be rude.

I'm sorry it's taken me 2 weeks to write this review... We visited on March 26 for Sunday Roast I don't think I can say enough good things about my experience. The hostess was so sweet and welcoming and wished me Happy Birthday. We were shown to our table right away and our waiter was so charming! Everything on our plates was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection! The beef was tender and so flavorful, the roast potatoes are so crispy on the outside but light and fluffy inside. My first time trying Yorkshire pudding was a lovely surprise!! Amazing!! Even the cabbage and carrots were scrumptious!! To top it all off, sticky toffee pudding was the perfect ending! Such a beautiful, relaxing environment - you're able to take your time, enjoy your meal and never feel rushed... Thank you all for making my first trip to London and my birthday such a wonderful experience!!

Sunday Roast!! Started with the best Cesar Salad ever. Fresh Anchovies and dressing clearly made from fresh yolks. Bone Marrow appetizer to die for. When it came to the meat, we could not decide. Our server brought us the raw cuts from the kitchen and let us choose at our table! Perfectly cooked, of course- with all of the trimmings including Yorkshire pudding. Paired it with a fine Amarone to complement one of the best meals ever. Don't miss this place!

This review is for the sticky toffee pudding. 1. I came here strictly for dessert and wow am I blown away. 2. I walked in after my dinner without a reservation and was told I may have to sit at the bar, which would've been perfect as a solo diner, but I was seated in the dining room, which was super nice and a cherry on top. The interior feels luxurious and I love the amount of green in the space. Also the staircase is beautiful. 3. Ordered the sticky toffee pudding and had to order the homemade Rolos for takeaway. 4. The sticky toffee pudding came out hot and steaming. The clotted cream looked so beautiful on top of the pudding. The perfect spoonful is pudding, cream, and lots and lots of toffee sauce. This dessert was so delicious, like you'll want to lick the plate. 5. One bite was all I needed to understand sticky toffee pudding. And I still dream about that toffee sauce!

As someone traveling to London for the first time, of course I had to indulge in a classic sticky toffee pudding. Glad to say Hawksmoor did not disappoint - the pudding was filling and sweet with the toffee syrup working the show. Next time I come to London, I will be coming back to taste for more!

Made a reservation for dinner about a week out. We were a little early, so we started at the bar in front; Pop fly Mai Tai and Shaky Pete's ginger brew were both great. We then moved to the dining room and ordered: + Bone marrow and onions + Rib eye + Hawksmoor Caesar salad + Triple cooked fries + Spinach, lemon and garlic + Sticky toffee pudding + Salted caramel rolos The highlights were the bone marrow and desserts, but everything was really solid. Will be visiting the location in NYC for sure. 4.5 stars.

Pretty good Sunday roast. I would recommend getting the bone marrow add on. Docking points for assuming I want well done steak (who wants that) and I have a theory on why... so I'm docking points for that

The food is good my family and I enjoyed it. The ambiance is nice. I like how they have a space for families. The service could have been better. The waiter was not very attentive. It wasn't very busy when my family and I came in but it took a long while for him to come back to take our order and he never checked on us while eating to make sure everything was ok.

Wonderful steak of various cuts. In fact, they offer prepped meet that can be taken home to cook on your own.

Went here our first night in London per recommendation from friend we made at our hotel. Food was great. Hubby ordered some strange appetizers. Not for me. Steak was delicious. Had to send back two times to bring temperature up. We ordered medium and it came out med rare. No apologies made. Not a big deal, I guess.

yes ok, i get the hype! i mean is it some brand new steak experience? no. but it is very solid and very delicious? absolutely. we did make a sunday reservation, but we did it for dinner, so we missed out on the sunday roast (seems they have on menu on sundays until they sell out, which is usually mid-day or so). we got the yorkshire and potted bacon to start, and that was nice, i wish they gave more yokshire pudding actually! and the gravy -- i wanted to drink the gravy that came with the dish and drizzle it over everything! the steaks were cooked perfectly. but the biggest surprise were how good the sides were! the triple cooked chips were pale but actually so flavorful and crispy -- soft on the inside. the greens were so well seasoned! the sticky toffee pudding was, as promised, incredible. i really enjoyed the quenelle of clotted cream on top, that gave such a smooth creamy finish to the fish. the restaurant is quite large in this location and tables were spaced nicely. the dark, broody atmosphere is the perfect ambience for a stately steakhouse. service was great and we were never left wanting.

Easily a five star for me! Hawksmoor had been talked up from a relative, so they made sure we visited during a trip to London. While some steak houses do a good job, others just stand above others and Hawksmoor is clearly in the latter category. Reservations are key here as it is always packed, so we mad reso's at least two weeks out and got lucky with a late-night dinner. Upon arrival you check in, drop off your coats with the front desk and make you way upstairs. Staff is great, not overly pushy, but very attentive. Menu is pretty straight forward for a steak house, but the staff will assist if need be. Make sure to not skip their in depth wine list, with a ton of phenomenal wines on the list. We opted for some straight forward menu items, ribeye, tbone, salads, chips, and cocktails. Steaks were absolutely cooked to perfection, so three cheers to them while all other items were tasty as well, so no complaints there. Price point is something to consider as it is a steak and seafood house, which if you have eaten at other high class steak houses, you can expect the same pricing here. Still well worth the splurge though as it has a great vibe with wonderful food!

Excellent service from the staff that kept the food and drinks coming throughout our Sunday Roast meal. The ambiance was entertaining to people watch as we waited for our next dish to be served.

A great first meal for my first time in London. My coworkers hyped up this place given our propensity for all things red meat, and I surely left home happy. Our team went all out with the fix-ins, from the tartare to the pork belly. They even introduced me to my first foray into bread pudding which was way more rich than I assumed with the mixed stereotypes of British cuisine we hear across the pond. All in all, a core memory. Oh, and our waitress was American, represent lol.

One steak came a little undercooked to the table, but they quickly fixed that and brought an extra side. We also had the Mac and cheese and mash and gravy.

Just had a fantastic meal with the family at Hawksmoor. They had the nice dark wood atmosphere of a lot of steak restaurants, combined with the fantastic service and of course the delicious meats. We were here for the Sunday Roast and it was a good deal of food for a decent price. Our servers were all amazing and attentive. The food was excellent and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We finished dinner off with the sticky toffee pudding I hear so much about and that sealed the deal. Thanks to the kitchen and service staff for a great dinner on a memorable vacation for my family!

My first "proper" meal in London was the Sunday Roast at Hawksmoor. The house was packed as it seemed every table was occupied. But the upbeat staff was a well-oiled machine, keeping things moving steadily while maintaining a professional and friendly atmosphere. Onto the meal... the flavor on the roast was delicious... nicely seasoned. I was looking forward to trying the gravy after reading so many over-the-top comments on it. It was savory and silky, though I found the flavor to be somewhat close to "beef bouillon," when I was expecting to be blown away. I do love that they have a half head of roasted garlic on the plate, which I actually enjoyed so much with the meat. I agree with another reviewer who stated that the Yorkshire pudding was on the dry side. Mind you, that was my first ever Yorkshire pudding, so maybe that's how they're supposed to be? Well I can tell you with great certainty that any hype you've read or heard about the Sticky Toffee Pudding is SPOT-ON. I had the version that was more traditional, and OMG. I told my server it was absolutely one of the best desserts I've had in my life. What a glorious combination of salty, buttery, sweetness in the toffee sauce. And that rich clotted cream pushed the decadence of the dish to another level. Glad I tried these British classics!

Had an 8:30 pm reservation and the place was packed.....always a good sign. My guests had the mussels which arrived in a cast iron pot, lemon and garlic served with crispy toast. Smelled amazing - they said it was delicious. I started with the summer vegetable and ricotta......when you think summer vegetables one imagines delicious roasted root vegetables, summer corn, etc.....what came was fingerling potatoes and peas.....not quite summer, but hey this is London. My guest and I had the Porterhouse with mashed potato and bone marrow gravy. We also had sauté spinach....all expertly cooked and seasoned beautifully. My guest had the dover sole. It looked a little dry, but he said it was "not bad" Service was top notch and well. Drinks were excellent. Hawksmoor is in a great part of town perfect for after dinner walk.

May be a London icon but our food was cold, steak extraordinarily fatty and bathroom filthy. Yuk

I love this place so much, definitely plan to come back whenever I'm in London. The hostess' were so welcoming and the servers were super attentive. Ambiance was perfect. Had a lovely SUNDAY ROAST and finished off with the STICKY TOFEE SUNDAE. ENJOY!

We came here before watching a show in London's theater district, and it was the perfect place for a quick bite! Everyone here was extremely friendly, place was clean, and food was perfect American comfort food. The steak was perfectly cooked. The buttered English greens were my favorite side dish. The prices were fairly reasonable too. The desserts we got were also very delicious and refreshing. Overall, I have no complaints, and I would definitely come again!

Opted for the Sunday roast -- this was my first time ever trying one in the UK and I would say it did not disappoint. Service was great, waitress was super attentive and kind. The macaroni cheese didn't really taste like anything, though.

Best steak in UK. I've been to many, many steakhouses across the world and this Hawksmoor location matches up well. I had the prime rib (which for Americans is more a bone in rib-eye) from the special steak menu and it was prepared perfectly, not a second over- or under-cooked. Beef had the right degree of marbling and not over seasoned. Everything a ribeye should be. I started with the scallops and I found them one of the best starters here. Four large scallops, with a nice crust. A perfect steak dinner. I'd also add that I've tried other Hawksmoor locations and, while good, not close to the world class quality here.

Hawksmoor is a chain restaurant in London specializing in beef and fish. Its a casual and loud and rowdy place since they also have a large bar. The branch on Air St is right off busy Regent St, and is sort of hidden from view. The main entrance is a tiny check-in area with a cloakroom. Restrooms are downstairs and the main restaurant and bar are upstairs. You'll find that the upstairs is huge with multiple rooms filled with customers. Service and food were great, so 5 stars! APPS: Grilled scallops were cooked perfectly and had a nice garlicky, buttery flavor. I loved the potted beef and bacon with Yorkshire pudding. Basically two big, puff-pastries with a hollow end you fill with their shredded meat and drown in rich gravy. A make-your-own beef pot pie, only with a lighter, crispier crust. MAINS: For fish lovers, the 300g grilled bone-in monkfish has a wonderful meaty texture and also a nice garlicky crust. Its known as poor man's lobster and is one of our favorite fish. I got the 300g Chateaubriand cooked medium rare with peppercorn sauce. 80% of it was cooked perfectly while 20% was definitely more rare than medium. Still, a very good cut of meat and well seasoned and flavorful. I like this cut more than the filet, which costs the same. SIDES: Baked sweet potatoes are a must. We also got the expensive (8.50£) Evesham Asparagus, which are regarded as the finest in Britain. They were thick yet really plump and juicy. DESSERTS: Although very bad for the waistline, one must try the Sticky Toffee Pudding at least once in London. This dessert was so rich and sweet that the Chantilly cream actually helped provide some balance. Definitely recommend Hawksmoor for you fish or steak fix!

A meal at Hawksmoor is always a treat, and a must when in London! The food is fantastic, and prepared so well. I tried the express menu for the first time, and as part of that, tried the potted beef & bacon, which was so good! The Yorkshire puddings were delicate and delicious, and the potted beef & bacon, which was new to me, was yummy, reminiscent of pâté. The gravy was great too! The steak and fries were, of course, incredible, but the real reason I come to Hawksmoor is the sticky toffee pudding. The sundae version, which comes with the express meal, is good, but the pudding itself was a little dry. Opt instead for the regular sticky toffee pudding, which is truly incredible. The dining room has a fun art deco feel to it, though it gets pretty loud when full of diners. Our server was kind, but the pace could best be described as leisurely--our entire meal clocked in at around 2 hours, which left me in a rush to get to the matinee show I was seeing!

We went here for my partners birthday and it was delicious!! Peter was our server and he was amazing, very attentive and you can tell he is passionate about his job. Thank you Peter!!

Sunday Roast oh so good. The roast and gravy is just delicious. I think other reviews mention they use marrow in the gravy truly delicious. Should be a crime that it's not served everyday. Perfect tender medium rare meat. Didn't have a reservation but managed to get seated in bar with full menu. Service was excellent. Truly delicious and one of the best bargains of a meal during my stay in London.

Amazing steakhouse, great ambiance. Had NY strip cut and filet in addition to hall lobster which was tasty almost like butter poached. Oysters were very fresh!!! Enjoyed the drinks. Waitress had great menu suggestions.

First visit at this branch since lockdown ended - just as good, and you'd never know we were in the times we are. Had Sunday lunch - de bloody licious ! Tasty as ever. Service was nice and relaxed, but spot on. Great value for money and awesome ambiance!

My boyfriend and I went to Hawksmoor to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Since we were Jetlagged and this was a nice place open late we decided to come here. We ordered steak (they had ran out of lobster which is what I wanted) and a side of bread, mac&cheese, fries (chips) and creamed spinach. Out of the sides we only really liked the chips and bread. But both steaks were delicious. The vibe was very classy and intimate. Service was great and drinks were good.

Delicious steaks and a lovely elegant location. This would be a perfect place for a date or a dinner with family. I ordered the rib eye 400 grams medium rare, with the bone marrow gravy and beef dripping fries. The ketchup they serve with fries is homemade and delicious. I also sampled the grilled mushrooms too, and they were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The steak was the perfect size and had a wonderful crust on it, cooked to perfection. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, and I was very impressed with this place and would return.

Yup, this place makes the list for a five star experience. You pay for what you get, and it is certainly top of the line here. Caesar with anchovy filets, terrific sourdough, amazing steaks, and a cocktail list you will want to work your way through (we have it the ole school boy try for sure) Great place, pleasant atmosphere, upscale but not pretentious, friendly and helpful waitstaff. Really could not have been happier.

The food was great and also the service was so marvelous i would love to go back and enjoy all over again

This is a kind of fancy-yet-casual steakhouse. I confess, I found the menu a bit daunting, but the waitstaff was very happy to explain what was what and offer pairing advice as well. We had the Yorkshire pudding appetizer, followed by the bream for me and a ribeye for my husband. The fish was perfectly cooked, delicate and delicious. We shared three sides: Tunworth mash, fries, and mushrooms. The Tunworth cheese was fantastic--I only wish there'd been more! And I loved the mushrooms. They were so savory and thick. This really made for a good end to a final day on the island.

It was a real treat to come here for dinner. Your classic, dark steakhouse vibe. Very busy and noisy so maybe not the most romantic on this occasion. Starter dishes were sublime! Fresh crab meat on toast paired well with the Caesar salad. Tender lettuce with delicious dressing lightly drizzled and not too strong taste of anchovies. The dishes were a delight. For the main I was slightly less impressed. Chateaubriand steak was rather chewy and tough to cut. Cooked exactly as ordered to medium. The sides were delicious, creamy mac and cheese with a crumble on top. Spinach with lemon and garlic was a burst of flavour. The fries cooked in fat were decadent. I only wish my steak was as good as my companions, having ordered the ribeye. Service was excellent. Large drink/ wine list. Bloody Mary was kind of average but still enjoyed the experience.
