Yelp
Haymaker, located in the quiet and quaint neighborhood of Eastlake, serves delicious and fresh PNW inspired pastas, appetizers, and drinks! This review is for the Fall 2020 Seattle Restaurant Week menu, which is the only menu the restaurant will be serving through the end of October and well into November. For $35 per person with an optional $20 wine pairing, you get all 4 appetizers, your choice from among 3 entrees and 3 desserts, and a glass of wine/port to go with each course.
1) Service (+): Our server was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. I highly recommend making a reservation on OpenTable ahead of time, especially if you want a spot in the limited outdoor space (I counted space for only about 4-5 tables in the covered tent area).
2) Ambience (+): I love the cozy atmosphere that the restaurant was even able to replicate outdoors! Little string lights brighten up the outdoor cove, which is divided into 2 separated areas and we were the only party in our half.
3) Food (+): Haymaker is best known for its handmade pastas, so I highly recommend the Tonnarelli, which is dressed in a light pine nut pesto with pecorino shavings. All the appetizers were amazing and the best part is you get all four on the menu to share with the table! My favorite amongst the appetizers were the brussels sprouts, which were seasoned with fresh cream and an exotic dukah spice blend dominated by the fragrant taste of cumin. As the Tonnarelli is a vegetarian dish, our server recommended we get the short ribs to go with the pasta. Though the short ribs were tender and moist, and complimented the pasta well, the taste was overwhelmed by the heavy teriyaki sauce.
4) Alcohol/Drinks (-): There is a large selection of wines, beers, and cocktails here. As a big fan of gin, I had the "Autumn in London," which was a comforting blend of citrus and bubbles. The wine pairing was a little disappointing for me, as I found both the Italian white served with the appetizers and the Columbia Valley red served with the main course to be too light and lacking in body and flavor. The port served with dessert was a warm and spicy way to end the meal.
5) Value for Money (+): The prices for Restaurant Week at Haymaker are phenomenal for the variety, quality, freshness, service, and ambience. Even the prices for the regular menu, with drinks in the $12-$15 range and entrees from $12-$30, are a great value.
