"Brian Clevenger’s Eastlake pasta spot strikes the perfect balance between neighborhood hangout and legitimate destination restaurant. The bright, minimalist space feels high-end, the sort of place you’d linger for date night, but it’s also a welcoming place to meet friends for a casual hang out. The menu here is ever-changing, but reliably includes a handful of Clevenger’s perfect pastas, plus small plates like a seasonal burrata dish, local vegetables, and raw oysters, along with entrees like sockeye salmon and steak with black garlic and fingerling potatoes." - Megan Hill

Service and atmosphere were excellent. We chose to sit inside on a very warm evening even the outside looks invite. Drinks were imaginative and delicious. The beet salad was divine. Our pasta dishes were excellent though next time I'll order no added salt as I'm salt sensitive. The rhubarb panacotta was out of this world.

Had such a delicious meal here last night. We tried the Market Oysters, Fries, Charred Cabbage, Burger and Gnocchi. Legit amazing. We also had the Cherry Bomb and the Oaxaca Cocktail (not very flavorful on that one sadly). Everything else was so delicious and service was great. Interior so cute. I do think it’s overpriced though.

My wife and I enjoyed very much our dinner with Seattle Restaurant Week specials. The food were all delicious and with a nice wine pairing. The service was attentive without being intrusive at first, but as the restaurant filled up, we experienced a long gap between appetizers and entrees. We look forward to come back and try their pasta as that seems to be le messe’s claim to fame.

Google
Very good restaurant overall. Cozy atmosphere with nice minimal design. The open kitchen is great and you can sit right in front. The cuisine is not really Italian, but yes, they have some good pasta. Negative, the scallops had a little sand in it, therefore not 5 Stars. Will try again!

Excellent food! I was blown away about how each and every dish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The beef tartare was exquisite. The wagyu steak was like buttery tender beef bacon. It was almost too unctuous.

BLUF: This awesome trattoria in East Lake serves beautifully designed home made pasta dishes, Italian appetizers and entrees, and wine with casual vibes that all make this place somewhere you can call a home away from home for comforting pastas in cold Seattle weather. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We very much enjoyed this underrated, hidden gem in Eastlake. Everything from the bread to dessert was very much delicious and completely finished. The steak tartare was a great start and was paired with a creamy tart chicory salad and a beautiful Fall fennel salad with local crab. The pastas were all fantastic and we tried each and every one of them. If I had to pick, the squid ink spaghetti with shaved Bottarga on top was probably the best. I will definitely be back to try some larger dishes and see where they take this menu as they move through the seasons. Bravo! 👍🏻👍🏻

Google
Heard raving reviews, was underwhelming. Brussels were all oily leafs, hardly any body to it. Charcuterie was good taste and value. The rigatoni pasta had good flavour but have had better, nothing mind blowing. No meat or anything in the sauce , felt plain. the tonnarelli “scallop” pasta we got had no flavour and also felt plain. We sent this back because there really was no flavour to it… on the second version we got I noticed this one had one scallop in it which was strange. Do they normally not put scallop in this pasta and felt nice to add it or did they just forget on our first one….? I felt a little sketched out because of this. I most likely wouldn’t return.

We came here for the Seattle Restaurant week. We ordered the seafood and pork belly. Both dishes and desserts were very tasty. Great service and friendly staffs. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Great service! The general manager joked around and was super funny. The food was hit and miss. The garlic bread had a LOT of unmelted cheese and not much garlic. It was supposed to be on focaccia bread but was on regular bread. My chopped salad had a mountain cheese (see pic), and more green olives than whatever the legal amount is. The chocolate cake was dry and had cream cheese as the frosting. Not cream cheese frosting - cream cheese as the frosting. To their credit the pasta noodle are homemade and looked divine. I definitely had order envy. It's expensive for what it is. The spot is quiet and the ambiance was nice.

Yelp
I had dinner at the G.H. Pasta takeover at Haymaker and everything was super solid. I think the pasta was especially good, but the pizza wasn't bad and I really liked the calamari as well. They seem to rotate through different pastas and pizza specials so that's nice that it'll never get boring.

Yelp
This should have been fair 3 stars. But read whats next. Ok, I took previous reviews with a grain of salt, coz it's subjective. Unfortunately my experience was mediocre at best. I dont like to write bad reviews coz I myself worked in service industry, so I get it. 1.Cod was good, chermoula paired very good with fish, there was no romanesco or preserved lemons. I got weird tasting long green sticks that were actually a bit unpleasant to eat as there were hard to chew or swallow. 2.Steak ok, nothing memorable. 3.Pasta-NO, it tasted like it was cooked, then dried off for couple of days and cooked again to al dente. So like cardboard in spicy sauce. 4.Drinks were derivative. My glass was sticky-thats a no. 5. Ricotta very good. 1.Waiters should ALL wear aprons and they should be the same aprons, and they should be clean. 2.If I ask for napkin, I would expect at least the amount that corresponds with amount of people behind a table. What actually pushed me to write a review is when I asked for dessert menu and our waiter/host brought dirty from food and wet piece of paper. 3. If you dont have enough menues printed out, you think on your feet, and maybe advice customer sth from memory, never bring out dirty menu. Thats ick. Overall its an ok place, clean tables, clean glasses. Bill was $170 or sth, for 2, tax and tips But manager should do FOH meeting with the staff asap. See pics

Yelp
I wanted to love this place but it was average and some misses. We paid almost $60 per person for the tasting menu and the plates of food you see here is what we got for the 4 of us. One plate you see only 2 slices of bread served for 4 of and we had to ask for 2 more. The corn we had to add al a carte because we wanted to eat it. One filet of halibut for 3 of us for the protein course. We had 1 vegan person. The plates came sloppy with drips of food on plate or around it. They didn't wipe before coming to us. The food was ok. Looks pretty but it was ok. Some were good like the squid ink pasta and we got large serving on that. Service was good. We all agreed we probably won't go back for that price and we all agreed we should just have ordered al a carte. With drinks we paid about 90 bucks per person and we just wanted more food and quality.

Brenna Y.

Yelp
First time here and it surpassed my expectations. The gnocchi was so unique; it was gorgeous, delicious, and exciting to eat! The steak was well-portioned and the demi-glace was light yet rich at the same time. The lemon ricotta cake wasn't overly sweet yet a satisfying end to the meal. Overall a very positive dining experience. The service was excellent, and the outdoor seating is super cute. I love the ambience and minimalist approach to decor- it feels homey and welcoming but upscale. I can't wait to come back and sit at the counter to watch all the action Would recommend for any intimate meal, whether it be with a partner, close friend, or small group.

Yelp
I went during the G.H. Pizza/pasta take over! My server Austin was super friendly and joking around the whole time. Location was great, I love Eastlake and after we went on a little walk along the water after with friends. Street parking available. I personally enjoyed the ambiance with a semi-open kitchen and wood fired oven at the center. Prices were competitive, prices in the 20's for pizza and pasta in Seattle is a great deal! I got an espresso martini and my friend got mixed fruity drinks that did not skimp on the alcohol. The GM introduced himself and was very friendly. He was a good salesman because he talked me into a glass of Chardonay. Seattle Pizza is usually lacking compared to Chicago and New york but this pizza was actually quite good with a crunchy, airated crust. It was a great size so I boxed half and took it home. Overall, a hidden under-rated gem.

Jacqueline D.

Yelp
Lovely spot with great food - menu changes often. Most recently we did the chefs tasting menu - $49 for 7 courses which include a 4 apps, 1 pasta, 1 protein dish, 1 dessert. It varies every time and you can put requests in! A great surprise to try a lot of different things. They have a nice outside area, currently in a tent area since the weather is still questionable. Drinks are great, fun cocktails. Service is awesome, the people are amazing here. Cant wait to come back all the time!

Alice W.

Yelp
GH Pasta takeover, everything we ordered tasted fresh and tasty. Our server Austin was really great. Will definitely stop by again.

Yelp
Delicious meal here for Seattle Restaurant Week this fall. We even brought our 3 year old in and our waiter gave her a quick meet and greet of the chefs in the kitchen at one point and the staff made her the most amazing kids pasta with red sauce that was totally off menu and she demolished. For our food we enjoyed everything, super delicious, albeit on the smaller side for portion sizes for SRW. We had delicious brussel sprouts, hamachi crudo, arancini and burrata to start. Only complaint for the whole first course is I would have loved several more pieces of the bread served with the burrata but didn't see how to order that on the menu. For our entrees we got the rockfish and the hanger steak and both proteins were cooked to perfection and the sides really enhanced the plate. The desserts of the almond cake with berries and whipped cream and the chocolate torte were solid ways to end the meal. My husband ordered a mezcal cocktail to start and I could have put down four of these if I wasn't pregnant. So good! My only complaint of the entire night was that we were seated near the front of the restaurant and the door to the outdoor dining area kept being left open, for the waiters, but it was a miserably cold night and made the restaurant or at least our table feel so drafty. Oh, and more bread!

sachi n.

Yelp
Had the chef's tasting menu and absolutely loved everything! I especially loved the corn soup dish. My husband made me eat every seafood dish on my own so I was quite full after this meal.

Nina H.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants to get pasta in Seattle! I loved my meal at Vendemmia also from the same head chef, and was excited to learn Le Messe would be in Eastlake (much closer to us in North Seattle). Their pastas are reasonably priced and I especially enjoy the rigatoni (red sauce) and bucatini dishes. Also love their burrata! We also came by for Restaurant Week earlier this year and it was a very lovely meal also.

Tammy E.

Yelp
I can't say enough how wonderful the experience was here. I made a reservation earlier in the week and we were one of the first people to show up right at opening. While parking in the area can be difficult, the restaurant location is at the intersection of a few cross streets so there are some options. The entrance is at the corner so if you park up the street it may be confusing how to get in. Once inside everyone was super friendly and I loved that all tables outside on the patio had their own propane heater. There were no smells and it was nice and warm without using a blanket. They offer happy hour from 5-6 with some tasty options. We ended up doing the tasting menu which had several of the items offered on the HH menu in it - all were delicious! I loved how fresh the burrata was and how fully flavored the al dente conchigliere was (one of my favorite kinds of pastas!) The scallops were prepared perfectly and were a nice cherry on top of the already spectacular tasting menu. The dessert was a churro cookie with chocolate and cream accompaniments. We ate every bite! The drink menu was also cleverly curated and they have some unique options - it's not every day you see San Juan Island Brewery on menus around town. The service was top notch and everyone was following Covid-19 protocols. and the whole experience was excellent. The only thing I noticed they might be more careful about are the raw ingredients that are in the open metal containers all along the counter without any glass dividers between patrons walking by to get to the restroom and the food prep area. I'm not a big germaphobe but it's something to be aware of.

Stacy S.

Yelp
They have limited outside seating, so we made a reservation through Open Table. When we arrived, our take wasn't ready, however they let us order a drink and we sat on a bench close by while they cleaned the table. (Not sure if the table was sanitized also, so we made sure to sanitize our hands once seated) We decided to order with the chef's tasting menu and were delighted! For the justice, we got a lot of food... and a few things that weren't exactly in the menu, which made it quite fun. I'm a vegetarian, and they were able to accommodate that. I would definitely eat here again!

Alan Z.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a weekend. Didn't have a wait and was seated quickly. Got the fusilli pasta and an order of french fries. The pasta was pretty good. A little saltier than it needed to be, however it was cooked perfectly al dente and the mushrooms and kale were a good match to the flavor of the pasta. The french fries were just french fries, nothing special about them and nothing bad about them. The price wasn't too bad for what I got and I thought the pasta was overall pretty good.

Itzel S.

Yelp
I enjoyed dinner at Haymaker. They have a limited menu now due to COVID, however their selection was decent. LOCATION - It's on Eastlake at Yale. Finding parking really close might be a bit challenging, but you shouldn't have any issues one street over or behind the building. FOOD - The food was very tasty, and presented well. They charge $6 for the focaccia - although it was good, I didn't think the value was justified. SERVICE - The staff are friendly and welcoming. I really liked the open kitchen where you can see the magic happen. OVERALL - I give it a 4- thought the food and service was good but wasn't wow-ed! I imagine due to the limited menu, but I do plan to come back!

Yelp
This was a return visit to Le Messe this evening to celebrate a college friend's belated birthday. She wanted Italian and selected Le Messe back on 10/7/18. Fast forward to 11/20/19...a well aged 13 month incomplete post. Dined at Le Messe at least three times total. Love Vendemmia in Madrona, will have to make an effort to score a reservation to Raccolto in West Seattle though. But then, enjoyed Il Nido over in Alki Point/West Seattle by Chef Easton of Il Corvo fame. Just tried G.H. Pasta in Denny Regrade/Belltown earlier this afternoon, which was a 3 star review too. Posting this to at least get 20 photos stuck in Yelp purgatory out in the open. Still have that infamous Yelp review backlog from Oct 2018. Le Messe still going strong and holding its own along with well established Serafina and Pomodoro, also found along Eastlake. So many Italian spots in Seattle featuring handmade pasta!

Stephanie C.

Yelp
I will not come back after our first-time visit...the food was not memorable and the value for money is poor. We went there for a dinner and the 4 of us did the $50 per person tasting menu for the table and the courses were determined by the chef. The tasting menu had four appetizers: the Burrata, grilled asparagus, grilled carrots and roasted potatoes. The mains include two pastas and a stake. All dishes are family style for sharing. Where to begin...the appetizers were more like sides /garnish? The stake was fine. As for the pasta, the noodle was too hard while the flavor was okay. More importantly, the portion did not really look like the right portion for four...each dish was like a single serve that was shared among the four of us. If you'd like to try out this place, skip the tasting menu.

Mia Z.

Yelp
We had an exceptional experience here last night. We came here to celebrate a special event cuz it is one of my bf's fav restaurants in seattle for pastas. And oh man. They definitely are specialized in pastas. All pastas are made fresh daily in the house and we ordered 3 appetizers and 4 pastas! Rainbow carrots, fennel crab salad and tomato salad. Every single one of them is so tasty and we absolutely loved every bit of it. Pesto pasta was probably my fav for the night! Squid ink pasta was good too. A bottle of rose on the house for our special occasion celebration and bill was not breaking our wallet even with this much food! Will be back and definitely recommend it if you want great pasta for the night!

Mark N.

Yelp
We visited this restaurant tonight for some food. Thanks again for taking me out here Rachael !!! This is a really nice location fir this restaurant. The selections aren't very big, but they do have quality food here. I ordered the NY steak strips in supposedly rare, but to me it is more like medium rare. I started liking more red towards my steak cause I don't like dryness from my meat. I also ordered their hand cut fries. Tasted pretty good when it is hot, but when it gets cold, it gets dried so I don't recommend this at all. My friend ordered a starter and also pasta clams. That look pretty good from what I saw. Overall it was good.

Kayla H.

Yelp
Hubby and I came here for a late dinner in the city and found this place on OpenTable. The menu is small but everything looked good so we opted to do the chef's tasting menu and so glad we did. It was definitely a good value if you want to try a little bit of everything. We had a mousse bouche to start which was a carrot ginger purée followed by burrata cheese and heirloom tomato peach salad. Then roasted carrots and asparagus. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. Then we got a squid ink pasta which was excellent and had a little spice kick to it. And the main dish was a piece of Halibut also cooked to perfection. To cap it off we ended with a chocolate orange cake. Wow it was a lot of food but everything was excellent and we were hungry! I would definitely recommend this place and come back.

Chad F.

Yelp
Absolutely phenomenal meal and experience. We found Haymaker on Yelp and so glad we did. The entire evening was one of the best we've had, and the food was so delicious and thoughtful. Thank you Colin!

Clint W.

Yelp
Wow. We had a great dinner. The veggies with the crab was bright, citrusy and spot on. Short ribs were super tender and just wonderfully put together. I actually thought the pasta was the dish I liked least, and it was merely good. Le Messe is a little more difficult for me to get to, but I will be a repeater here. I'm a big fan of Vendemmia, but I really liked Le Messe.

Cindy N.

Yelp
Haymaker, located in the quiet and quaint neighborhood of Eastlake, serves delicious and fresh PNW inspired pastas, appetizers, and drinks! This review is for the Fall 2020 Seattle Restaurant Week menu, which is the only menu the restaurant will be serving through the end of October and well into November. For $35 per person with an optional $20 wine pairing, you get all 4 appetizers, your choice from among 3 entrees and 3 desserts, and a glass of wine/port to go with each course. 1) Service (+): Our server was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. I highly recommend making a reservation on OpenTable ahead of time, especially if you want a spot in the limited outdoor space (I counted space for only about 4-5 tables in the covered tent area). 2) Ambience (+): I love the cozy atmosphere that the restaurant was even able to replicate outdoors! Little string lights brighten up the outdoor cove, which is divided into 2 separated areas and we were the only party in our half. 3) Food (+): Haymaker is best known for its handmade pastas, so I highly recommend the Tonnarelli, which is dressed in a light pine nut pesto with pecorino shavings. All the appetizers were amazing and the best part is you get all four on the menu to share with the table! My favorite amongst the appetizers were the brussels sprouts, which were seasoned with fresh cream and an exotic dukah spice blend dominated by the fragrant taste of cumin. As the Tonnarelli is a vegetarian dish, our server recommended we get the short ribs to go with the pasta. Though the short ribs were tender and moist, and complimented the pasta well, the taste was overwhelmed by the heavy teriyaki sauce. 4) Alcohol/Drinks (-): There is a large selection of wines, beers, and cocktails here. As a big fan of gin, I had the "Autumn in London," which was a comforting blend of citrus and bubbles. The wine pairing was a little disappointing for me, as I found both the Italian white served with the appetizers and the Columbia Valley red served with the main course to be too light and lacking in body and flavor. The port served with dessert was a warm and spicy way to end the meal. 5) Value for Money (+): The prices for Restaurant Week at Haymaker are phenomenal for the variety, quality, freshness, service, and ambience. Even the prices for the regular menu, with drinks in the $12-$15 range and entrees from $12-$30, are a great value.

Brett A.

Yelp
First visit to Haymaker East. Everything we ordered was delicious and well prepared. My filet was a perfect medium rare and the side of mushrooms disappeared. Service was attentive and pleasant. I took a star away due to the ambiance. A bit sterile and too bright for our date night.

Kamara S.

Yelp
We all have restaurants that we keep coming back to, even if they are a distance away. Le Messe is that place for me. My first visit was due to a need for pasta and my experience there did not disappoint. So even though I live in the Eastside, I find ways to come back. My favorite experience is at the chef's counter where they have special items you can't get anywhere else at the restaurant. That where I went my first time and I fell in love. Probably is the place I had bucatini for the first time. This trip I did the tasting and I believe I am a better person because of it. This is coming from a person who is not picky but is not the biggest fan of someone else choosing their food options. But at least they were kind enough to ask about my allergies and preferences. The highlights (there weren't any lowlights but these stood out to me: The zucchini salad and the bread dish was so good, I forgot to take pictures of them . The steak as the meat course was fantastic. The The cooked salmon was by far one of the best dishes I ever had. Not only because I could cut the fish with my fork, but because of that skin. It was the right level of crispy goodness that I was heartbroken when I finished it. And the pasta was fantastic of course. And it was made better by the great service. Caveat: You can not rely on the website to see what the current offerings are. Which means the items are made fresh, but don't have your heart set on the something you saw on their site as there are not up to date. But with the food I had, I wasn't definitely wasn't disappointed. Though I wish they were on the Eastside

Kristina F.

Yelp
I've been coming here for 2 years in the Haymaker days and for GH Pasta takeover. The food is mediocre overall- not awful but not good either. The only amazing item was the smash burger and they seem to have taken it off the menu. Service and ambiance are great and they have a pretty good happy hour at the bar.

Alice K.

Yelp
Time and time again, never disappointed by this place. Love the quality, ambience, food selection! We always get the Chefs tasting menu. Wonderfully good amount of food and you get to try something new. I almost don't want to write a good review so we can keep it our secret but here you go!

James M.

Yelp
I ordered takeout. I am stating this because maybe, just maybe their in restaurant service is better. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, Tonarelli (guanciale, white anchovy, lemon, and chive) and a side of fries. The chicken sandwich was awful. No flavor in the chicken (I expect a good brine at least) and both the chicken and bun were burnt to a crisp. The Tonarelli was inedible. Even if you like Anchovy the taste was way too overpowering. Tasted like I was licking the floor of pike place market. Could not pick out a single other ingredient other than the 2 inch, bacon cut guanciale I nearly choked on (seriously who cuts guanciale like that). The only semi bright spot was the fries which were seasoned well with herbs. Overall I sincerely hope the quality of their in restaurant food is miles ahead of whatever the hell I just attempted to consume.

Desiree B.

Yelp
Cute, casual and rustic. Outdoor seating is an option. We ordered and shared everything tapas style (which is recommended). Service was excellent. For starters: a dozen of oysters and a crisp glass of rose' . The Tonnarelli pasta was the star of the meal. All of the pasta is made in house. It was served with mussels, crab, sofrito saffron butter sauce, topped with breadcrumbs. My partner loved the hot chicken sandwich (may be spicy to some). I will say the flavor was on point, but I would have preferred the chicken be crispier. The Burrata was served with a hazelnut/cocoa nib pesto, sounds weird but tastes amazing with the grilled baguette. The grilled corn was one of my personal favorites, it does come on the cob so prepare to get messy! It's street style, topped with aioli, aleppo, parmesan cheese and cilantro! Two cobs per order. These menu items may change with the season, but I'd imagine any preparation would be just as delectable! Cheers!

Kyle H.

Yelp
I'll begin by noting everyone working on the evening of our dinner was friendly and served us well. However, the quality/taste of food for the price you pay at this restaurant was one of the most underwhelming experiences I've had in quite a while. The taste to cost ratio was at an all time low. -We started with a tuna appetizer, that, while pretty to the eye, lacked flavor and was room temperature/warm rather than cold. -The Nashville hot chicken sandwich (one of the only reasonably priced items on the menu) was quite under-seasoned (although the chicken itself was good), and also was not spicy in the slightest. The sandwich does not come with a side. -Had to execute a search and rescue party to find the shrimp in the $30 shrimp pasta -No beers on tap. A lukewarm short whiskey glass was provided to poor from the can. Can't make this stuff up!

Sasa P.

Yelp
Definitely a four star restaurant. Drawbacks: -Loud atmosphere (echoes even before it filled up, requiring you to shout) -Pork was cooked perfectly, but the sauce tasted like burnt A1 sauce. What a shame for what could have been such a delicious, beautiful dish. -Menu online was not accurate with the one in the restaurant so careful if you had your heart set on a dish! Positives: -Nice happy hour specials -Carrot soup with fried greens and raisins was creamy and great, especially with the Sea Wolf bread + oil/vinegar to cut the soup with some acidity. Great combo! - Oysters were delicious dipped in shallot/prosecco sauce -The stuffed pasta with asparagus and cheese was delicious. Wish THAT sauce had been on the pork. Oh well.

Karrie M.

Yelp
Decided to try the new take over menu at the Eastlake location. On Tuesday/Thursday nights they do a pasta tasting menu which allows you to try four different pastas. I highly recommend this if you're indecisive like me. A solid deal with large portions, and it came with and incredible salad. All four pastas were fresh and incredibly tasty. The drinks were great and the service was perfectly attentive. We sat at the bar in the back and enjoyed the nice open windows on a sunny day. Great outside seating is also a plus overlooking Lake Union for warmer evenings.

Bella L.

Yelp
The food was terrible, such a cute place with so much potential. I was SOOOOO excited to try this place and we didn't even finish anything we ate. Our server was sweet, but obviously didn't know how to handle the situation when we didn't like anything and didn't offer to grab the manager or comp anything. we still tipped over 20% but we were super disappointed and will not be going back ://

Becky B.

Yelp
Always great food and want to try everything new on the menu, so it can add up but it's always a treat!!

Morgan N.

Yelp
Chose this restaurant because of had a Seattle Restaurant Week menu that looked good to us. I wasn't really impressed with the meal overall. Our first course was a set of three appetizers. The burrata was about the size of a quarter, and on a piece of toasted bread. Then we got about a postage stamp size of raw tuna, with what seemed to be "everything seasoning" sprinkled on top. Both lacked salt to me. The third was iceberg lettuce with some sort of dressing on it. The dressing was tasty. My main course consisted of the seafood stew, I forget the name... Basically three shrimps, four mussels and a piece of whitefish in a very salty broth. Definitely did not fill me up. My friend, however, friend got the mushroom fusilli which was delicious. Dessert was a pavlova - a piece of meringue with a bit of lemon curd and some marscapone. Meh. The waitress was a bit flustered, even though she was training a new employee. She forgot she took our order and asked us what we wanted about 10 minutes after taking our order. She also got me a refill of a beverage I didn't order.

Anthony M.

Yelp
Steak came cold so I asked if they would heat it up or make a new one. They took the easy option and heated it back up and when they brought it back if was cold again because they let it sit there. Flavor of the steak was horrible anyway so it didn't matter much.

Aharon R.

Yelp
What a waste of money. The gnocchi is overpriced for what you get. It's a handful of overcooked noodles that are poorly seasoned for 25$. I'd avoid this place at all cost.

Bao L.

Yelp
The meal was phenomenal. The tasting menu is not only unique but refreshing in terms of creativity. By far one of the best meals in Seattle.

Rob E.

Yelp
Had dinner there Saturday night 11/19 Probably the 10th time since moving to Eastlake. Absolutely the worst meal and worst service (not just bad but rude!). I waited tables for years and don't think I've ever seen such a disaster (and I had one or two bad nights over the years!) The server - was so overwhelmed and could care less. Actually she was rude and confrontational I watered our table (no one else would) and our entrees came out sporadically. Though one of the three of us didn't receive any food for an hour. Well after the other two had eaten. Kudos to the smart waiter or manager who took over - she was kind apologized and obviously told the other server not to engage with us One of the hour late dishes was inedible. I actually had to ask them to take it away and off the tab (I've never done something that nervy). But the place was a mess that night. Food was poor and the original server might want to ask for help (I always did when I was slammed). Again thank you to the staff that took over. She comped drinks and the one inedible dish (unrecognizable gnochi) I gave her 20% for realizing our meal and service were poor. I was kind of horrified before she took over because I couldn't justify anything for the original server. Note the other bad recent review on open table. From our part of three. I've never seen him post a bad review ever Gotta say - we won't be back. It was that unpleasant . A lot of it could have been solved by communication and competence - I could see the seating was slammed so the kitchen was awry Just tell the customer. They might come back.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and highly recommend. All pastas are made in house and the menu constantly changes based on ingredients. Ordered the smoked fish appetizer, which was my least favorite. Reminds me of the smoked fish appetizer from Tavolata, which I love. But I think it needed more pickled shallots because the saltiness of the fish was a bit overpowering. For entrees I ordered the tagliatelle with crab and rigatoni with pork shank (although I'm not sure the noodles were actually rigatoni). Both were very different, but I recommend both. By far my favorite was the pork shank though. It was nothing extraordinarily different, but it was done exceptionally well. The meat was super tender and not fatty and I'm not sure what kind of sauce was on the pasta, but everything just melted in your mouth. I would go back just for that pasta. The tagliatelle was unique. Lots of bits of crab. The sauce kind of reminded me of a relish or tartar sauce, but it was very good. I also had dessert, although I can't remember what it was called. A chocolate mousse cake of some sort, delicious. This was more than enough food for two people and I'd recommend sharing. Ambiance is fairly casual, but could also work for a date night. Restaurant has a clean and modern feel to it. Server was exceptional. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I'm not an expert in Italian food, came here for a birthday party because we need a nice restaurant for an excuse to dress up. Our party was 18 people deep, the bill was about $600 total after tax and tip, so for about $30 a head, it wasn't a bad experience. The menu changes every day depending on what they have that day. The entrees here were one of those smaller portion, artistic dishes, pleasing for the eye to look at type of deal. It's pasta so after so many pasta dishes, it does fill you up. My favorite was the agnolotti, it had the best flavor and I love mushrooms in general. The restaurant is medium size, but spacious with the option to sit at the chef's table where you can watch them cook. They are only open for dinner 5-10pm daily. Perfect for date nights, girls night out, or business dinner. Located at a corner, parking was easy enough during this hour, but then again I did got a parking ticket since after a certain time you have to have a permit, but that's my fault for not reading signs right. Tell me about your experience if you've been here or is going to after reading this review:)

Yelp
Had a bad experience at the restaurant tonight. It was our daughter's birthday today so I called the restaurant and asked them if we can bring a birthday cake. The guy who answered the phone said sure, bring it in. He never informed us about the cake fee and later we were charged $12 for cutting us 3 pieces of cake. It is ok if you want to charge $4 for cutting every piece of cake, but you should at least store the cake properly. But no, our nice chocolate mousse cake from Regent bakery was pretty much melted and ruined when the server brought it up. None of the other nice restaurants in Seattle make mistakes and ruin important occasions like this. Extremely disappointed!

Yelp
It was the first time trying Le Messe. One of my favorite cuisines is Italian food and pasta, so I was excited to have dinner here. We ordered the hamachi crudo to start (this was light and refreshing). And for our entree's, we ordered the tagliatelle, which had Dungeness crab, creme fraiche, celery, and chives. And also the bucatini, with chanterelle, oregano, parmigiano, and egg yolk. Unfortunately I couldn't try the tagliatelle because I'm allergic to crab. But my bucatini was pretty tasty. The egg yolk definitely makes all the difference in making the dish creamy and rich. It's one of my favorite Italian dishes to have. We also ordered some bread, which was $5. The food was pretty good, at least, what I was able to try. But overall, nothing really stood out to me where I would want to return for more. The service could've been a little better. Our server seemed nice but very robotic. He didn't really come to check on us as often as he probably should've. Didn't really give us any recommendations for both dinner and dessert. He just came to take our order, bring our food, clean our table, and bring our check. Sadly, our dining experience here was just, alright. If you don't mind dry service, I would at least check out the food here. We might've ordered things that weren't their specialty/popular. But for us, the food wasn't bad; it just wasn't amazing.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience at Le Messe for Seattle restaurant week. Their interior is simple and beautiful. Definitely looks like a fancy restaurant, they have a high table area that surrounds their kitchen so you could choose to sit there and watch them cook. We didn't do that since we were a group of four and that would've been hard to have a conversation. They do an AMAZING Beef Tartare. This is a must get item; the bread that the tartare is on top of comes warmed and toasty and the flavor of the beef is spot on. I think it was my favorite of the night! Their smoked fish is also super good, comes on warm toasted bread as well and I would highly recommend trying it. Other than that, we had their grilled halibut and pork. Their proteins are cooked to perfection as well with wonderful components to their dish that provides great textures and flavors. They didn't have any pasta on their SRW menu but I hope to come back to try them because it all looks amazing! We tried their dessert and we were at first skeptical of the triple cheese dessert but the honey and cheese and almonds was a surprisingly wonderful mix! They had homemade gelato as well and that was delicious! Their chocolate mousse was my favorite, it came with candied orange and flaky sea salt on the top. So creamy and smooth and chocolatey :p Our server was very helpful and patient with us as we kept talking and forgot to look at the menu at the beginning!

Yelp
Love this spot and our rockstar server, Dodge, always takes such great care of us. Patio seating available. Great wines. Italian restaurants have a connotation of serving very heavy foods. This place has a number of flavorful and light food options. I haven't tried the pasta or cocktails yet, but I will in time.

Yelp
An airy, light-filled, Italian restaurant. Everything was ordered from their Happy Hour menu (daily 5-6p & 9-10p, bar only). For starters, we had a dozen of their daily oysters, which were the Purple Mountains from Hood Canals. We also ordered the Ahi Crudo, Springs Greens, and Beef Tartare. The ahi crudo was delicious, with a fresh citrus taste and a good sprinkle of coarse salt. I also loved the spring greens which came with a huge mound of parmesea, so good. The tartare was okay and only came out with three pieces of small toast. For mains, we ordered the daily fish (Halibut), daily steak (Snake River Zabuton), and the Squid Ink Spaghetti. The fish was delicate and delicious, cooked perfectly. The steak came out medium-rare, with more emphasis on rare. I thoroughly enjoyed both of these dishes. However, I thought the squid ink spaghetti was lackluster and under-seasoned. We did not order it with the extra bottarga (salted, cured fish roe). In hindsight we definitely should have but since our waiter did not mention anything about it. On a positive note, there was a lot of spaghetti. Overall, I liked most of these dishes. I did notice that the portions seemed small (particularly for the tartare and daily steak, which had 4 slices). Maybe since all dishes were from the HH menu. The service was also just okay.

Yelp
Came here for late night happy hour because my boyfriend lived a block away. Happy hour is 4-6 and 9-10. The space much bigger than it looked on the outside and has a minimalist look similar to sister restaurants. As for food, it was good value and pasta flavor was good, though I'm not sure if I consider this top 5 pasta hh I would recommend to friends. There was nothing to complain about just nothing to brag either

Yelp
Le Messe is a great new Italian restaurant on Eastlake that is definitely worth a visit. The building is kind of oddly shaped, but the interior is very nice. They have a nice drink menu with a small choice of wine--but really excellent choices. I started with the Gem Lettuce and the asparagus (which is not always on the menu--it seems to change often). The salad was really tasty with a perfect vinaigrette. The asparagus was absolutely perfect with a great Holandaise sauce (I hope this is on the menu often). For the main course, I had the rigatoni with fennel sausage and halibut (which also is not normally on the menu). The pasta was outstanding--very fresh with an excellent sauce. The sausage was really good also--just a perfect dish. The halibut was wonderful also. It was a great piece of fish cooked just right with a nice sear on top. Again, the sauce was the perfect complement. For dessert, I had some of the chocolate gelato. It was the perfect finish. I think Le Messe should do really well.

Yelp
This place is excellent. It's casual and the service is excellent. Reasonable prices. The Classic Pizza was one of the best - great crust, tasty pepperoni and cheese, all in balance. The fresh pastas were even better. My wife's favorite was the pesto. A terrific Tiramisu topped it all off. Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.
