"At first glance, the menu at Hearth in Evanston might not seem very interesting. You’ll see fairly basic options like like roasted beets, halibut, and filet mignon. But there are always a few curveballs worth trying, like tikka masala dumplings or elotes-style polenta, and everything is both tasty and nicely presented. Plus, eating outside here feels like sitting on a front porch surrounded by a very well-manicured lawn. It’s on the expensive side, but if you need to go out for a nice quiet dinner, this is a good option." - Adrian Kane

Delicious dinner and dessert, amazing atmosphere and service. Would recommend the purple rain cocktail, BBQ shrimp appetizer that comes with fried green tomatoes, the Parmesan crusted filet that comes with mashed cauliflower and broccolini, and both the sorbets are delightful. The staff even signed a birthday card for me - it was so special! We sat on the patio on a nice evening and it was so quiet and peaceful, but the decor inside looked very quaint and comfortable as well. Absolutely top notch in Evanston!

Love the ambiance of this place; feels like an old southern mansion converted into a hotel/restaurant. Appetizers left a little something to be desired (they were good, not great), but entrees were phenomenal. Cozy, quiet feel, great for dates.

Yummy starters! Shared the beets, squash and the winner was the cauliflower. The blood orange Manhattan was not the best twist on a classic, but the wine list was nice. Dinner of scallops and steak, both of which were stellar, with the side of crispy potatoes were rich in depth and layered with flavor. Dessert was a let down, with an extra charge for a substitution of oatmeal ice cream instead of the cranberry sorbet, with the apple pie and the banana bread was ok. The service was fine, but nothing memorable.

Really enjoyed our dinner. Happy hour beforehand allowed time to relax. Appetizers were all tasty including the "famous" avocado fries, I also enjoyed the pork belly which was a better piece of meat than some bellies around town that are too fatty. Dinner was also top notch. Duck confit jambalaya was a fun twist on a standby dish for me. I had a taste our dining companion's steak dish with the name I can't remember - great combo of flavors and textures. Chef Woody came out to talk with us and see how we liked everything. We were excited to learn more about the menu. Service was knowledgeable and attentive, and we felt like the quality of everything was high for a moderate price. We will return for sure!

Love Hearth! I was a couple-time visitor of Quince and loved it, but also love the homey, comfortable hearth. The fireplace is lovely in the winter, and the Homestead is such a great place to enter for a meal! I've only been to Hearth for brunch, though I've been several times. The menu is succinct, but really well thought out. I've also been for a New Years Brunch buffet and loved it!

A friend surprised me for a birthday dinner here! Possibly the best dessert I have ever had. Staff even signed a birthday card, which is totally weird and awesome! The food is beyond fantastic. Drink are amazing! Staff is super friendly. Can not reccomend more highly. The level of cuisine for the price is outstanding. Update 11/1/2018: I was there again in September with my neigh ors and then again in October to take my parents. Each time, the food has been outstanding, the service awesome and some bangin' craft cocktails! I don't review much and this is the first time I have updated q review to say how great a place is. So worth it!!

This restaurant doesn't get enough credit. The cozy and home type feeling of the restaurant is unmatched. We had a drink before in the lobby across from the restaurant and service and drinks were great. Then we were sat and everything we ordered was excellent. Apps- tuna tartar & cauliflower (seriously!). Main: 3 of us had scallops, 1 duck- both excellent!! I live in the City and will be back for sure!!

Excellent dining experience. The tuna starter was delicious, and both the duck breast and the Wagyu beef entrees were outstanding. Good wine selection. Service was attentive, and I got the impression that the staff genuinely enjoyed working there. The Homestead is my favorite hotel in Evanston, so to have such a quality restaurant on the premises is a much-appreciated bonus.
