My wife and I were in Peoria for an appointment and decided to visit charming Peoria Heights. I just had one of the best sandwiches (and the best fries!) I’ve had in many years at the Hearth Restaurant. My wife enjoyed equally delicious salmon croquettes and greens. The inside is elegantly cozy, but as it was a beautiful day, we sat outside on their umbrella-lined street patio. Tim, our server, was friendly and attentive, the owner/manager was welcoming, and the food was reasonably priced and outstanding. Highly recommend!

Google
A great experience. Our server, I believe her name was Toni, as top notch...and it didn't stop with her, all the staff were amazing. the salmon and meatloaf are top tier and the au gratin potatoes are some of the best I have ever had. The bar selection is vast for a smaller location as well. I'm glad to have found this gem of a place.

Google
The food is always consistently well prepared. I almost ate all of my quiche before I remembered to post! Highly recommend the smoked blue cheese dressing on your salad and the sun dried tomato basil quiche. I make it a point of being my mom every time I visit Peoria.

Google
It was my first time visiting here and it was such a splendid experience! I went for lunch and the food was delicious. I got the salmon salad which came with candied pecans, carrots, and cranberries and a smoky blue cheese dressing! For $16 the plate was huge of salad and a decent sized salmon piece. The waitstaff were immediately kind. I would love to go back and try the quiche. I will be back again. Thanks for making us feel welcome for lunch!

Finally, a place where you can get a variety of higher-end food, great service, and feel like it's a place worthy of dressing up for. I haven't been to a restaurant like this since I left Chicago. A great place to take a special someone or to have a nice anniversary dinner. It happened to be my birthday, and my daughters picked it out. I will return!

Google
The service and ambiance were exactly what we were hoping for. Very friendly and attentive server. I had the duck and they recommended medium to medium rare. I prefer it cooked through so I sent it back to be cooked a little longer and then it was great. My husband had the lamb and a caesar salad and said both were great. Not pictured: crab cakes and creme brulèe... both were really good! I'd go back for appetizers, wine, and dessert! Edited to add: they offered bread to other tables but when we realized it we were waiting for dessert.. I love bread but can't speak to what it's like here since our waiter never mentioned it.

Google
Nothing more to say the food is excellent. We had take out because we couldn’t get a reservation. Still great food and service. We had lamb chops and steak with salad and mashed potatoes. It was awesome next time we hope to be able to get reservations.

1st impression as walking in the door was wow, this place is really nice. The decor is very inviting. If your looking to enjoy a drink the bar is just amazingly beautiful. We were seated in one of the dining rooms. Being a photographer myself I really enjoyed the varieties of photos displayed here. As a note we arrived just before they were getting ready to close to prepare for the nights dinner. We were assured we had plenty of time to enjoy lunch. So we placed our order. We learned everything is made from scratch daily using quality ingredients. Now I'm really impressed 👏, a restaurant that cares. While waiting on the food I walked around looking at photos, an employee/manager or even owner, I'm not sure explained some of the photos and how the photographer achieved the look in each picture. Thanks for the tour and info, I enjoyed it. Lunch arrives and it looks amazing. Everything was delicious 😋 and all 3 of us enjoyed ourselves and the excellent food. It was so good. You've gained new customers, we agreed its worth the 1 1/2 hour drive to return. Dinner menu has so many options which appeals to us. See you soon. Best place in Peoria!!!

Yelp
I thought this has an Irish name but those mermaids make me think it must be a different name? Anyway i love coming here, the drinks are perfect (over pouring booze is a big deal around here and most don't complain) but i appreciate it, the decor is amazing, the place is a bit small so on a busy night quite loud, but in the summer they have outdoor seating just like most the places on this stretch of road. Food was impeccable, and service was excellent. Clearly experienced, kind, willing to joke a bit, which makes a big difference in my dining experience. There have been some rude waiters or waitresses that just glare if we sit too long at other places which pressures me to leave. But not here. Super friendly and chill place with amazing staff and excellent food! 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
Good food and service. Fancy restaurant nice for date night or get together. We went for an interview dinner. Large food portions.

Yelp
A very nice place for lunch. Great food, great customer service, and prices were very reasonable. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because of the bar. Being a bourbon guy, I was glad to see they touted their whiskey/bourbon selection quite highly, and they do have a huge selection from what I saw, however, if a restaurant/bar wants to be considered the place to be for bourbon, it needs to have a great Old Fashioned. The Old Fashioned I received was not good and was nothing like what was listed on the menu - "OLD OVERHOLT RYE MUDDLED WITH AN ORANGE SLICE, SIMPLE SYRUP BLACK WALNUT BITTERS & A CINNAMON STICK STIRRER". I can only describe mine as a water downed whiskey drink. Nothing muddles, no taste of bitters, and no cinnamon stick (see picture). In my opinion, a proper should also be served with a large ice cube not a scope of small ice cubes. Overall, I did enjoy the lunch and want to go back for supper sometime. I hope when that happens they learn to make a proper Old Fashioned.

Yelp
Great place. The food equals the service and atmosphere...all awesome! Highly recommend!

Pat F.

Yelp
All around fabulous! Food, drink, especially staff! Creative options that are artfully presented as well as delicious.

Yelp
Generally speaking, the food scene in Central Illinois is pretty disappointing (I grew up here but only visit occasionally now). Hearth is a very nice change in this regard. High quality food, nice wine selection, professional and friendly staff. I will definitely return on a future visit.

Yelp
We usually love Hearth and go there for our recruitment dinners often but after the way my program director and physicians were treated last night by wait staff (Becky) and the manager we will never go back. The blantant racism experienced in this restaurant is outrageous and I am sad I chose this place to send my physicians to. When an out of town applicant is being wined and dined and the first thing they say to you when you ask how their stay in Peoria has been is that everything except dinner has been good and how they witnessed people being treated at Hearth is embarrassing! When treated horribly and went to management to say so, the group was told they said their peace and could leave! I know from experience this was not an inexpensive dinner and the tip was auto generated so even though she wouldn't wait on them and told them several times her larger tables were more important, she got her large tip. When food was served it was thrown in front of one physician whom was experienced the worst behavior. Horrible service and even worse customer service from management. You should be ashamed of your servers and night manager.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Customer service is not dead at Hearth. The staff is attentive and the food is exquisite. I've been twice for lunch and love the formal feel in the cozy setting. Next time we will order drinks from the bar. It looks well stocked for anything!

Yelp
4.5 stars MAKE A RESERVATION! MAKE A RESERVATION! MAKE A RESERVATION! We attempted eating at Hearth in summer 2019 when I had out of town friends visiting. We were seated by the hostess outside, but 5 mins later, they asked us to leave since we didn't have a reservation. So, lesson learned: I made a reservation for dinner since they're only open from 5-10pm on Saturdays. I mentioned it would be our first time there and it was our anniversary. SO did not want to give them business after getting kicked out; however, I wanted to give them a second chance based on so many good Yelp reviews, and the hostess made an honest mistake (they said she misheard me). We arrived for our 7pm reservation and were seated shortly. Our server, Becky, was good and not overbearing. She brought warm cheddar & green onion biscuits with sweet butter--YUM! They provided complimentary cocktails because of the special occasion, which was not expected, but a nice gesture. I had the pork chop, and SO had the meatloaf (beef, lamb, bacon). The pork chop was a little fatty for my liking but had good flavor and was cooked well. Their house potato bake with cream and cheese was amazing, I could eat a whole pan of that. SO's meatloaf was good, but tasted gamey to me, but I rarely eat lamb. It was loud for us in the main dining room but to be expected for a busy Saturday night, and we were between two tables of 4 who were having a good time. Our entrees were $55. We didn't have any drinks other than the complimentary cocktails.

Brandi G.

Yelp
Hearth has amazing food and service. It's one of the best places I've ever eaten. Recommend the scallops, dauphinoise potatoes, and the lamb meatballs. But honestly it's all good. I've had the salmon and Lamb chops also. Amazing.

Yelp
Exquisite menu, atmosphere, and staff. Maybe "dining family" because from the owner, to the chef's crew, to the servers : THIS is what Fine Dining is all about.

Beth S.

Yelp
I love that you can make a reservation. They have fun cocktails that change with the seasons on the menu. The chicken is so delicious full of flavor and the skin is crispy. The shrimp in the appetizers has a sauce you want to pour over everything. Lovely place.
google avatar

Yelp
My hubby and I went to Hearth for my birthday dinner and we were not disappointed. Staff is friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Food was delicious! I ordered the scallops and they were perfectly cooked. My hubby was able to alter his jambalaya slightly and it was no problem at all for the kitchen. Appropriately priced for the atmosphere and cuisine! PS: make a reservation if you plan to visit!
google avatar

Grace M.

Yelp
First time here. Delicious! Highly recommend the Chicken Confit, Jambalaya and the meatloaf We had great service 10 out of 10

Yelp
Excellent service and great atmosphere. Bar selection outstanding. Was here on business and would definitely visit again!

Yelp
The patio is lovely and the food will change your life. It's really wonderful when you find service and execution done so well. This place gets it. Will definitely be back

Janet G.

Yelp
Great food, beautiful ambiance! Lunch good, but limited menu. Excellent wine list. Always fun being in the Heights!'
google avatar

Jim G.

Yelp
The food is fantastic and flavorful, the service is outstanding and the ambiance is intimate and pleasing. I highly recommend this place for a more upscale dining experience that is fairly priced.
google avatar

Kathy W.

Yelp
Great food, great service. Highly recommend. Found by accident and absolutely loved it!
google avatar

Lawrence P.

Yelp
Great steak and Whiskey selection! Tasty apps and attentive service. Love the cocktails as well!
google avatar

Wanda H.

Yelp
Can't speak to the food, but the cocktails are AWESOME! First, I had to try the Chocomole, which was perfect. Not too sweet, with just a little spice to it. Then I had the Harvest Mule and it was really good too! A great combination of flavors. A bit pricey, but service was excellent. Definitely worth another visit if we're in the area again.

Yelp
Accidentally stumbled on to this place. The owner was coming up the sidewalk and talked us in to looking at the menu and stepping inside. Our lunch was amazing and you should see the dinner menu!! We had the catfish poboy and smoked brisket. Shamed to admit we caved and ordered dessert. For dessert we had the bourbon pecan pie and flourless chocolate tort. This was an excellent stop and the staff/service couldn't be any better. You will be glad you stopped in this charming "local" spot!!!! P.S. several gluten free options.

Kyle B.

Yelp
Visited Hearth for the first time on a Saturday for lunch. The food was outstanding. Had the grilled cheese & a cup of tomato soup. Grilled cheese has apples, almonds and Brie which is a really nice combination. The roasted tomato soup was excellent and clearly scratch made. Service was very good, friendly and attentive but not intrusive. Very clean restaurant & nice atmosphere. Can't wait to go back and try the dinner menu.
google avatar

Nicholas P.

Yelp
Unfortunately very disappointed with this spot. After reading many reviews I was excited to try! The reason for the low review is our all of our food was delivered cold or cooked incorrectly. We wanted to start the chilly night with a nice hot bowl of tomato soup and it was delivered to us lukewarm (and it was only lukewarm after mixing it). Our entrees were both cooked incorrectly. The scallops were over cooked and tough. The ribeye we ordered medium rare and the center was a maroon red that was cold to touch and almost unpalatable. I would expect a pricy restaurant to at least be able to deliver food that is cooked. The mushrooms on the steak were delicious and maybe the best part of the meal.

Yelp
The food here was great! Per recommendation of some locals had brought us to Peoria Heights. Hearth was one of several restaurants recommended to us for dinner, but if this one doesn't suit you there are plenty of options within a few walking blocks along Prospect. The restaurant was cozy and charming. Definitely had a home feeling to it as it felt like it was a house modified into an establishment yet still felt intimate. The menu options were great and I seemed to notice a lot of cajun & creole inspired dishes. For food we started with the nawlins bbq shrimp and lamb meatballs. Nothing to complain about, and both were well executed and you couldn't help but finish the garlic butter sauce with the baguettes on the side. For my main entree, I did the stuffed pork chop dinner served with a side of garlic mash and collard greens. A ton of flavor and super tender. I'm a fan of the food here. Other things to mention... they have quite the whiskey selection. Beer list is decent yet nothing on draft. Service was excellent. Price point you're easily looking at $30+ per person with tax and tip. Not much else I got on this one. 'Til next time cheers!

Terrance L.

Yelp
Super awesome atmosphere, food was fantastic, took a little while, however given the working situation it's totally understandable. Biscuits are dry. Other than that lamb was cooked perfect and so was the steak!

J S.

Yelp
The food is great tasting, portions small, and can be a pricy night out if you have a few drinks or dessert. Service is slow at times. Food is good, but don't be in a hurry. Nice atmosphere, but can get loud.
google avatar

Kristi D.

Yelp
I had dinner here with a group of about 12 girlfriends. We were given a large table near the back of the restaurant and since it wasn't very busy the time we were there it was very private. Our server was excellent and the food all arrived quickly and at the same time. I ordered a fruit and cheese tray as an appetizer to share and it was delicious. There was an assortment of cheeses, sliced apples, And our favorite, smoked grapes. I also paid extra to have meat added. There was plenty to share and most everyone sampled something. A friend got the Wedge salad for her meal and it looked very good , with plenty of bleu cheese and bacon bits. I ordered the Shrimp & grits ... not sure if I would like grits... but it was very delicious and I would definitely order it again!
google avatar

Josh B.

Yelp
The food here is excellent. To start they put the best cheddar biscuits on your table with house made honey butter which were incredible. You can make a meal out of these. All of the entrees that we ordered were outstanding my duck breast was plated perfectly, cooked beautifully and was really delicious. The mashed potatoes that the dish came with was excellent. Additionally the table got the halibut on special which was very good and the lamb loin which were reportedly excellent. To top it off the service was fantastic. Great standout in a restaurant packed area.

Yelp
We have been to hearth about 3-4 times and have always had good experiences! The food is high quality! Atmosphere/ambiance is classy (but you don't have to be too too fancy as far as attire) and intimate. Staff is very friendly! Parking: street parking... a lot of the time available in front (unless it's evening/weekend then you may need to park a little farther). Nice drink options! We've had their grilled oysters a few times and are never disappointed! Sooo good! I most recently had their crab cakes and they are some of the best in the area! I've had the scallops with your choice of potato side and they are delicious. They often change up the veggies depending on what they get that day (I think). My husband most recently had the rib eye which he said was great! The fresh homemade bread they bake with the cheese and scallions is sooo good! Overall, always a good experience and we will continue to dine here!
google avatar

Karen F.

Yelp
Great place to dine! We had the fillet that was cooked perfectly! Really great cocktails and selection of wines as well!

Yelp
I am really glad that my hubby took me to @hearthrestaurant for my birthday dinner. We had a great time there. Becky, our waitress, was very polite, welcoming and informative. Actually all of their stuff were extremely charming and engaging. And on top of that the ambiance and decor of this place is sooo classy... match made in heaven. And they serve amazing quality food. What else you can ask for. We tried Shrimp pesto, Duck and Mahi Mahi.

Layalee K.

Yelp
A perfect menu not to much not to little, perfect environment, amazing friendly people, and great service! Love this place and the food!

Yelp
Stopped by Hearth today for lunch. We come up to the Heights often for food and drinks and I have always wanted to try Hearth. I was not disappointed. We sat out in the patio area and Tim was our waiter. He was great. Very friendly and on time with everything. I ordered the catfish po' boy and my wife got the burger. Both were excellent. The seasoning and crust on the fish was perfect. One of the best fish sandwiches I've ever had. Opted for the side salad with the blackberry balsamic dressing and the dressing was fantastic as well. Fruity but not overly sweet. My wife also ordered the blood orange martini and it was really good. Not overly sweet and we could taste the tequila, which is always a good thing. I will for sure be returning to Hearth. Looking forward to grabbing a whiskey flight as they have over 200 different whiskeys.

Yelp
Visited with my mom and aunties for a birthday celebration. We were in on a Tuesday for early dinner - one of two tables seated at the time. Our server was prompt, knowledgeable, and not afraid to make a recommendation (always extra points for that). I ended up with the crab cake appetizer and shrimp & grits main course. Both absolutely superb! Unfortunately, the rest of the gang wasn't as thrilled as I was with their meals. I can chalk that up to both perceived value for the dollar, as well as (perhaps) their entrees not being what they expected. Still a solid 4 stars, even with the complaining aunties. Maybe next time I'll go solo and see what I think.
google avatar

Alicia F.

Yelp
Fabulous food & fantastic service, as always. A favorite. You will not be disappointed.

Peter B.

Yelp
We stopped by for a late lunch and were pleasantly surprised by menu that was very appealing. There is clearly a very engaged chef in the kitchen who takes great pride in the offerings. Our party had a range of things.....salads, soup, sandwiches, salmon, and even a side of collard greens. Mind you that we rated the greens AAA+ because the chef really has to know how to prepare. The grill cheese sandwich was superbly prepared and included sliced apples and toasted almonds......definitely a sophisticated grilled cheese for an adult palate. If this lunch was a preview of what dinner has to offer I can't wait to return to Peoria. The staff could not have been more attentive and we appreciate the fact that they went out of their way to accommodate us even though they were about to end lunch service to prepare for dinner.
google avatar

Tyri M.

Yelp
We have been here twice now... once before COVID and once after COVID ... both times were equally disappointing. Food was average and cold. Service was good but not exceptional. There are so many great places to eat in Peoria Heights .. Hearth needs to step up their game.

Martin J.

Yelp
I've been here three times and the food has been good but this visit left a very bad taste in my mouth and will probably not return based on this experience. We were celebrating my wife's birthday with a party of 12. After dinner, we had began to cut a cake that we brought in to celebrate the moment. The waitress stated: I don't know if y'all know it or not there is a cake cutting fee! We were all charged an extra dollar on our bills rather we ate cake or not. I completely understand if they did not want us to bring the cake in but the waitress saw the cake when she initially took our order and didn't mention anything about the cake cutting fee!‍ if that was the policy, she should have stated this at the beginning of the order and avoided making this celebratory moment an unpleasant dining experience for my wife.

Friday P.

Yelp
I have consistently had very good food here. Try the dauphinois as a side. Very nice selection of wines and liquor too.

Hollie D.

Yelp
Such delicious high end food and a wonderful cozy atmosphere! Great bar and drinks too. You have to try this place while you are in the Heights/Peoria area. Always love our meals here ! Perfect for lunch and dinner !
google avatar

Frank C.

Yelp
Excellent food, friendly staff, decent wine list. We came in late without a reservation and was seated promptly. Notable cocktail menu and a bar with an exceptional stock of whiskeys. Ordered the Filet Mignon which was superb, and started with the lamb meatballs. Everything was excellent. Getting our food was a little slow, but so exceptionally tasty we easily forgot the wait. We will definitely be returning.
google avatar

Ann T.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite place. They always make you feel like you are the only patrons in the restaurant. Tonight I had the filet and my husband had the New York strip. Both of them were cooked to perfection. My filet was like butter. Jim's was "the best steak ever!" In the Height go to Hearth you will not be disappointed!

Bonita D.

Yelp
Our dinner last night at Hearth was just amazing! Each of our four party group ordered a different entree and we were all very pleased with our choices. Not only was the food delicious, but the serving sizes were quite large! From the host (Hugh Higgins, owner), the chef, our server, the ambience..well, we could go on and on...everything was great! We can't wait to go again!
google avatar

Mary H.

Yelp
Will no longer patron your restaurant. Your food is delicious, but, we no longer enjoy the " atmosphere". Good luck
google avatar

Kari B.

Yelp
Great place! Busy atmosphere on a Wednesday night. They did great with accommodating gluten and dairy for one guest. Many of the items on the menu are already gluten free including the duck which was very good. I really enjoyed the scallops. My food could have been hotter including to tomato soup which was just ok, wouldn't get it again. The cheddar biscuit was good. Serving were on the smaller side.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
Superb whiskey selection - I don't think there is a better one in the Peoria area. Cozy décor, with a beautiful bar. Great place to quietly sample and enjoy a wide range of whiskeys. Careful, though - some of those whiskies are quite rare and pricey! The food is equally wonderful. The shrimp and grits was sublime, and the jumbo sea scallops are possibly the best scallops I've had. While I've not had it, my wife raves about the apricot and brie stuffed chicken breast. In short, whether you're looking for a nice place for some great drinks and conversation, or a great meal in a warm atmosphere, try Hearth.
