I caught up with my wife and a friend here, after having to run a few errands, so I wasn't privy to "the full experience". I simply sidled up to the bar to join them, ordered a cocktail and a bowl of the Beer Cheese soup, and tried to get up to speed on their conversation.
Our server, Britain, was engaging, friendly and helpful, and an example of stellar customer service; there need to be more servers like him in the world. He introduced himself by name, inquired about mine, and answered all of my questions about the menu. I ended up ordering the Rotating Keg Cocktail, which currently was a strawberry lemonade with vodka. A little frilly for my tastes, but I'm not much of a beer or cider guy, so it did the trick nicely, and was better than I'd expected.
The soup, however, was phenomenal! On par with the one at Kell's, which is my all-time favorite, so that's a high compliment. I knew we were moving on to other places, so that's where my order ended, but not without a longing glance at several other things on the menu, that I wished I'd had the time to try out.
A return visit is guaranteed, and not just because our friend comes here religiously, every week, like he's attending mass. The pub grub lives up to the "feral" name, the service is divine, and the prices are a pittance for the quality. No need for confession, folks: here, you can be a heathen without getting burnt at the stake (or the wallet).
