Charleston’s Best Burgers | Eater Carolinas

"When Heavy’s Barburger took over the former downtown Tattooed Moose space, burger fans were a bit upset, until they tried the Heavy’s version. The Barburger is an all-American classic of smashed double Patties, American cheese, sliced tomato, red onion, lettuce, pickles, and Heavy’s sauce. Best for: Picky eaters — Heavy’s has an array of sandwiches, salads, and starters" - Erin Perkins

Charleston’s 11 Best Chicken Wing Stops | Eater Carolinas

"When Heavy’s first opened, Charleston was curious about the burgers, but word about the wings (and how good they are) quickly spread. The restaurant offers jumbo drums and flats tossed in Red Ranger sauce, the Wright sauce (a zesty honey garlic), or lemon pepper dry rub." - Erin Perkins

Google
Really solid prices for downtown Charleston and great food as per usual. Love Heavy’s, one of the best burger spots in CHS imo. Their Nashville chicken sandwich is solid as well, and their sweet potato fries literally melt in your mouth. 12/10

NICE BURGERS! Heavy’s Barburger is an absolute gem in Charleston! The burgers are packed with flavor, cooked perfectly, and the toppings are fresh and creative. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax with friends. Service is quick and friendly, and you can really tell they care about the food and the experience. Definitely one of the best burger spots in town—I’ll be coming back again and again!

Google
Best burger I have ever had! No exaggeration. I ordered the Barburger, which is equivalent to a double cheeseburger. The meat was seasoned amazingly, and it was a perfect size. Not a small burger, but not obnoxiously large either. My wife ordered the hippie burger, which is a vegetarian burger, and she said that was great also. Additionally, the wings were top notch. We ordered the Red Ranger flavor, which is essentially Buffalo. Parking is a little annoying if you come during a peak time, but it’s not too bad. There is an indoor and an outdoor seating area, and the wait staff were very friendly. Whenever I want a good burger around this area I will definitely be coming back here. Prices weren’t half bad either. 5 stars for this burger joint.

Google
Stopped and met the wife for dinner after volunteering in Charleston and had a good & tasty meal. Burger and fries and a fish sandwich and sweet potato fries. The waitress was exceptional, even with giving her a hard time. Although the meal and service were great, the cost for two burgers and one soda is just ridiculous being $54 with the tip. It's one of the reason we have to cut down on going out.

Google
Staying on Isle of Palms and wanted to try a good burger place. This was only a 20 minute drive from the island into Charleston and was the best decision we made. Our family ordered the lemon pepper wings, Barburger, the Patty Melt, the Ranchero burger, onion rings, fries, and sweet potato fries. We all devoured our food and both kids said to put it on our "definitely come again" list if we're ever back in the area. Highly recommend! Bonus: they have their own parking lot so parking was easy. I imagine it might fill up quickly during busier times but on a Monday night, there were plenty of open spots.

Google
The burger at Heavy's is truly unique, it has that special signature flavor that sets it apart! A visit here is not complete without ordering the onion rings; they are an absolute must-try! The location and atmosphere are ideal for a friendly gathering and unwinding after a long day of work. Highly recommend!

Google
Heavy’s Barburger is my absolute favorite restaurant in Charleston! I have celiac and the gluten free burger bun is the perfect texture and taste and made in-house. Each burger is amazing along with multiple other gluten free menu items. The wings are absolutely delicious and the salads are too. I cannot say enough great things about Heavy’s! The atmosphere of both locations are awesome, the music is always great, and the staff are all accommodating and kind.

Jim G.

Google
Where to start? I obviously love burgers, and Heavy’s hit the spot. After hearing so many good things about this place since moving to Charleston, I finally checked them out after a College of Charleston baseball game. I ordered the Fun Guy smash burger and a large order of onion rings. The rings came with Heavy’s sauce and a barbecue sauce. Both were tasty, but I preferred Heavy’s. The burger is basically a mushroom Swiss. When it was delivered, I finally recognized the play on words in the name lol. The burger was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. I can’t say enough about this place for real, topped off by the most friendly staff and cute waitress. I’ll def be back!!

Yelp
The salad was delicious. The chicken had wonderful flavor and I enjoyed their dressing. Service was friendly and fast. It a cute little restaurant with plenty of parking and a front deck for outdoor sitting. If you have not tried Heavy's Barburger give it a try.

Yelp
Rolled into Charleston on a Monday evening around 8:30. Fired up Yelp to find a place to eat. Lots of spots closed Mondays, natch. Heavy's had the reviews and was open. What a happy find. I ordered the Barburger no tomato. Easily one of the top 3 Smashburgers I've eaten (up there on the podium with North/South Grill and NFA), and for sure the best sweet potato fries liberally sprinkled with salt and thick grind pepper. Wasn't feelin a beer...the wine pours are generous.

Yelp
Update: Went back and manager was very accommodating. Provoded refund for all items and asked if I wanted to keep the items. I did not because they really were too spicy:-) Added a star for ease of fix. Thank you! Service: My husband walked in and the manager held door for him...Great! Went to the bar to pick up my to-go order and 5 employees (servers and bartenders) walked past him without acknowledgement or greeting. He had to go back up front to find the manager (who didn't seem bothered that no one attended to him at the bar) in order to get our order. He returned to the hotel with our food and they'd neglected to give him the $4 lemonade with the order. I tried calling to get a refund and the number is not monitored so I had to send an email. Hopefully they can refund me for my drink, for a start. Food: Inedible, unfortunately. The chicken tenders were so spicy, I could not eat a whole one. Fries were also inedibly spicy. The spice would be fine if it was mentioned in the description, but alas, it was not. I also got onion Rings and a salad but am not super excited to try either. Honesty Heavy's due to the high Google and Yelp reviews. My fist choice was Zaxby's but they rated 2.3...hence the low rating for Heavy's. At least I cam eat the Zaxby's. All in all, I wasted $50 on food that was fair to middlin' (making assumptions about the salad and onion rings), I'm still humgry and I'm going to end up driving to Zaxby's I will try to "take back" the food for a refund on my way out of town tomorrow. It's all still here.

Yelp
Forewarning: burgers taste delicious and are messy! The burgers were smashed style and the sweet potato fries were so good. Honestly the sweet potatoe fries were the best side out of the regular fries and coleslaw. If your in the mood for a good burger I highly recommend this place. The onion rings were also very good appetizer. The batter was crispy and thin. The server was super nice and answered any questions I had about the menu.

Yelp
I'm definitely a smash burger type of girl. I've been hearing such great things about Heavys and I was super excited to visit and they did not disappoint. I was surprised at how good the wings were and the onion rings. Definitely the smash burger stole the show. Heavys will definitely go on my list of best places to get burgers in the city.

Yelp
We grabbed some takeout from here on a busy Saturday night. The food was ready in 20 minutes. There is a "take out" parking spot so you can run in and grab your food quick. We tried the wings, chicken tenders, sweet potato fries & regular crinkle cut fries. Everything was super good.

Yelp
Oh My Goodness! I've been driving by this place for 2-3 years and wanting to try it! Finally today I took my wife here for lunch and this is by far the best burger we have had in a long long time! We are so thankful! And already planning out next trip to heavy's! Thank you for the awesome bartender and great experience.

Yelp
Going in to eat a simple burger and having expectations exceeded was the experience I had coming to this place. From the chili, to the burger and even the margarita, it was all very delicious. The margarita was surprisingly better than I expected like it was made by people that love making cocktails. The burger was juicy and flavorful. The chili, which was an afterthought option, was tasty with a bit of spice that wasn't overwhelming. What an awesome spot for delicious food & SURPRISINGLY tasty margaritas. Don't sleep on their margaritas.

Yelp
Great menu variety at Heavy's! From salads to sides and main events they got ya covered. Big perk is the private gravel parking. Upon entering you seat yourself, if able to find a spot because this place can get pretty busy. After finding a seat, a few minutes later one of the servers brought us a bottle of water and placed our drink order. My fiancé and I shared a $24 pitcher of beer that yielded around 2 drinks per person. The selection of local beers is appealing and good value for the pitcher. For appetizer, we tried their onion rings which were spectacular! Generous round onions and lightly battered, the $8 small basket can feed around 2-3 people. For the entree I noticed the patty melt which is my go-to and my fiancé went with the bacon onion burger. The patty melt itself was so juicy and soft, 20/10, loved every bite of it! We were interested in the lemon box pie but learned later it was never placed on the tab so didn't get a chance to try it. It was for the better because the meal itself was filling. Service was friendly and quick to order. I think we were around a timeshift change because our 2 rotating servers never came back to close the check. We figured we would approach the counter to close the check and pay but learned that the counter was for takeout only. Waited a little bit longer until we approached another staff member to pay for our meal to leave.

Yelp
If you're craving a hearty, flavorful burger in Charleston, Heavy's Burger is the place. The large smash burger is freshly made to order, perfectly seared, and packed with juicy, savory goodness that hits all the right notes.( I got the single patty, two patties are the standard ) But the real hidden treasure here? The Deviled Eggs with Nueske Bacon. They had me at deviled eggs, and the addition of that rich, smoky bacon takes them to another level. It's the kind of appetizer you think about long after the meal is over. The vibe is casual and inviting, and the menu has enough variety to keep everyone happy. Worth checking out the menu, stop in, and treat yourself.

Yelp
After so many recs from friends, we finally tried it. The burgers are straight-up battle tested - literally. They're previous winners of the Holy City Burger Battle and officially one of my favorites. There's outdoor seating as well and it's a pretty laidback atmosphere. Service was great and we got some good recommendations.

Yelp
Look, I get it. Smash burgers are a thing. A thin, crispy-edged, beefy creation meant to be enjoyed with fries, a cold drink, and maybe a side of regret later. But when the bill arrived, I realized I could've gone somewhere else and had a half-pound burger with all the fixings for less than what I paid here--without having to assemble my meal like it was sold in parts. The food? It was fine. Just fine. Not "call your friends and demand they try this" fine, but more "well, I ate it" fine. The fries and onion rings played their roles adequately, the drinks did their job, and the burgers? They smashed. Were they life-changing? No. But they existed. The service was solid--no complaints there. But the noise level? That was a different story. It wasn't the crowd causing the ruckus; it was the music. The kind of loud that makes you yell across the table like you're negotiating a hostage situation. I like a lively atmosphere, but I also like leaving a restaurant with my hearing intact. So, was it terrible? No. Would I go back? Maybe--if someone else was paying. If you're really into smash burgers and don't mind the price tag creeping up on you like a ninja, go for it. But if you're looking for value, you might want to smash that idea and head elsewhere.

Yelp
First impression when I walked in to the restaurant is it smells like pee. Bathroom was very dirty. The food was salty!!! The food was HEAVY on salt hence the name! The onion rings were my favorite. Definitely get that. Bacon and eggs and chili were good too. But our main entrees were all salted up. Prime Rib was inedible. Fried Chicken Salad also salty. You have to eat plenty of salad with a bite of chicken or you'll just taste salty fried chicken. The Barburger was at least edible unlike the Prime Rib but was also salty. The service was great in taking care of our entree that was inedible and too salty. But it's quick service. They were busy.

Yelp
Just what the hangover doctor recommended! Smash burger- Juicy with those crispy edges- loads of tasty toppings. Friendly greeting, super solid sodas (just the right fizz- iykyk). Crispy hot crinkle fries. Sooo needed and soooo good! The winner on winner for me was their chili. A little spicy and a lot of flavor. The "cheese-pull" would give any New York pizza some serious cheese envy!! Will make this our go-to airport ride must stop destination.

Yelp
This is my go to burger place in Charleston. They have the best burger and onion rings in the city. From start to finish this place is the best. They have their own parking which is a must in Charleston. They are a bit north of downtown Charleston so it's removed from that crowd but a great locals place. Staff are wonderful and make the best cocktails. A great burger joint with a full bar and great beer selections. We'll continue stopping in.
google avatar

Drew Y.

Yelp
I think this might be my favorite burger place now. The burger was so good don't get me started with those onion rings. Also I haven't felt welcome in Charleston lately but the guy in the front was super nice and chill. Glad to find a good place that I'll be coming back too
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Every visit is better than the last! BarBurger was so flavorful, smashed with crispy edges and perfectly finished with American cheese. Onion rings were also so good. Crispy, crunchy, served with Heavy's sauce and BBQ sauce on the side. Emma was so great! Very patient, nice, and helpful. Greeted upon arrival. Nice bar-like atmosphere. (Minus one star bc a side of honey mustard was $1 extra!)
google avatar

Emily V.

Yelp
Fantastic burger and fries! We swung by after a day of shopping for a late lunch. Parking is easy as they have a free lot which is always nice downtown - it is a bit bumpy as a heads up and there is also street parking. The staff were all super nice and helpful. We sat outside on the deck. They have a ton of local beer on tap and make good sweet tea. We both got the bar burgers and fries - so well made. The fries are crispy and salty!
google avatar

Michala Z.

Yelp
Really solid burger and sweet potato fries! I ordered the patty melt, extra patty, no bun (I have celiac). It was juicy, filling, and flavorful. The sweet potato fries were also really good and I was told they had a dedicated fryer. Would definitely eat here again!
google avatar

Kerry V.

Yelp
Probably one of the best burgers place dtown. It has a laid back atmosphere with plenty of outside seating. We tried the Patty melt..one of the best, better than Waffle houses. They have a selection of craft beers, a few wines and specialty cocktails. They also have a happy hr. On the weekdays from 4-6 pm, with various drinks available
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
Heavy's is one of the newer sports to open downtown Charleston. We came with a group 5 friends after work on a Friday for happy hour. The happy hour special was a $5 margarita and I ordered a smash burger with fries. The food came out quick and it was good enough. Probably not the best burger in town, but a good option for a quick bite downtown. The greatest item I tried on the menu was the oreo Icre cream cake which was really good to share and super yummy. Convenient location close to downtown but not quite downtown, so you get parking .
google avatar

Danielle J.

Yelp
Really 3.5 but I'll round up. The mushroom burger was good and pretty big, could've used a dash of salt. The crinkle fries are perfect. Was surprised to see they had a few wine selections. Desperately need fans outside to keep the bugs away.
google avatar

Khusbu P.

Yelp
LOVE THIS BURGER JOINT! Periodt I am so glad my husband I stopped by here on the way to birthday celebration for a quick bite. We got wings and burger/ sweet potato fries and spilt that and it was perfect all around. Fries weren't soggy like how they normally are with SP, and burger was nice and flavorful and so were the wings. Such a good hangout spot with amazing burgers
google avatar

Richard C.

Yelp
This is the best burger I've ever had!. Just plain and simple. I had the original Barburger and I added bacon. Everything came out hot and fresh, it was seasoned to perfection. You have to come here and try a burger. Everyone was so nice and welcoming, all the waiters and waitresses are so attentive. If you want a great burger don't hesitate to come here.
google avatar

Yelp
I can confidently say that this place is a clean and fun dive bar. There were parts of my meal that I loved and parts that I did not love at all. My husband and I went on a Sunday during dinner time, it was busy but we always had a server to help us. This is seat yourself style so we were outside but because of bugs had to move inside. We started with the onion rings, these were delicious and flavorful (5/5). I absolutely loved each of the sauces they had on the side. Next were the chicken wings, they were delicious I loved their spin on the buffalo sauce (5/5). I really did not like the burger, and so many people have suggested this place. So I immediately thought the suggestion was due to being such a good burger spot. For me there was a ton of lettuce, THICK slice of tomato and a ton of onions. My first bite I couldn't even find the patty. For some reason the bun itself on the bottom was completely wet, which made me gag and there was little to no sauce on mine. Maybe I had a bad experience but I was disappointed because rave about it. Sadly I give it a 1/5. It was just so soggy I couldn't even enjoy it. The ice cream pie was very nostalgic. The service was great especially for it being so busy. Maybe I'll come back and try it again because maybe I just had a bad batch, but just not a good meal.

Yelp
Had dinner at Heavy's with my dad, husband, and kiddo this evening, and we all enjoyed our visit. We found a table inside immediately, which was nice on a Saturday evening, and were quickly greeted by our server who made menu suggestions since we were first time diners. Three of us had the Barburger, which was a delicious double smash burger with cheese and the typical lettuce, tomato, onion toppings. One of us had Uncle Gene's Ranchero burger. All of the burgers were a very generous size and were bigger than the buns. The crinkle fries were cooked perfectly, and Stew's Chili was very tasty. The restaurant was quite busy, full of football fans, and a little on the noisy side, as expected, but the music was good, and overall the atmosphere was fun.
google avatar

Alexandra K.

Yelp
My brother is pretty obsessed with every burger in Charleston, so we went to check out the latest hype. Overall, this burger was quite delicious. I enjoyed how the smash burger had an exterior layer that was larger than the bun. The location of Heavy's is decent; there's parking, and the place is small enough that you feel like you're eating an exclusive burger. Atmosphere-wise, the place was PACKED for a Wednesday, and as newcomers, it was difficult to understand how the seating worked. I wish there had been a small sign saying, "Sit at any clean spots," because the groups around us rushed to dirty tables. I truly felt bad for the bussers; it must be frustrating to clean tables that new guests are sitting at. Ugh! Nevertheless, the burger was delicious, and the only reason I give it a 4 is that I'm very picky about burgers. My bun was a bit soggy, making it hard to grab, and my favorite burger in the world is Black Out Burger. However, when I'm in the area and need a burger, I'll definitely come here again!
google avatar

Sara I.

Yelp
Yes, it's a year later and we went again! Got the same orders- burger and patty melt bc we just can't stray from the best! I also got the sweet potato fries which are better than the reg fries- crispy and salty! The only thing that can make this place better is if they ditch the crinkle fries and go for a straight cut. Heavy's, I love you!
google avatar

Julia B.

Yelp
We were greeted immediately and kindly told we can sit wherever we want. The service was top notch, we love when restaurants have servers that share responsibility, we felt very taken care of. Oh and the food was amazing. Burger-so yum, crinkle fries-perfectly seasoned and crunchy, onion rings- lightly battered, seasoned well and perfectly cooked.
google avatar

Cheryl G.

Yelp
Love it! Morrison Drive eatery. Caylee was GREAT! Always checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. We've come back quite a few times. Each and every time was great. Great drinks and food. Never too loud just right. Plenty of parking on street or in lot.

Yelp
On the eve of 4th of July, and the vision of hamburgers and hotdogs dancing in my mind, I thought back to the amazing cheeseburger I had at Heavy's! In the old Tattooed Moose location, Heavy's is blessed with a side parking lot which is always a fantastic find downtown. Sit inside or out, I was there for a networking meeting with two B2B contacts. It was hot so we sat inside. I went straight for their famous Barburger; a Double Patty, American Cheese, Sliced Tomato, Lettuce, Pickles, and Heavy's Sauce. I minused the raw red onions. This grilled smashburger is perfect. The crispy edges are what you want in a smashburger. The quality meat is seasoned perfectly. And the crinkly fries came out hot and perfectly fried. I wish I would have ordered a side of the Heavy's sauce to dip my fries into. The two guys I was with both ordered the special: a prime rib sandwich. Both finished them and said it was delicious. If a smashburger is what you crave, run don't walk down to Heavy's!
google avatar

Wanda B.

Yelp
I decided to get the smash Burger with Fries and Onion rings. one of the best burger I had in a while. The service was great
google avatar

Megan L.

Yelp
I've got to say that Heavy's has the best burger I've tried so far in Charleston! We decided to stop in one afternoon and were greeted immediately and seated at a spot of our choice by the window. I went with the Luten's cheeseburger to try their take on a classic! The crispy outside of the smash burger paired nicely with the generous portion of toppings. The fries came with their signature dipping sauce and were fresh and crispy when they arrived at the table. Overall, I will definitely be coming back to Heavy's whenever I need a good burger!
google avatar

Anita J.

Yelp
Fast service, great atmosphere! Staff is super friendly and the music gets you amped up to eat burgers lol. Definitely save room for dessert too!

Yelp
What a treat to drive to a restaurant with its own parking lot ... yes, we were off to a good start. It was way too hot to eat outside so we opted for a two seater, inside, which was perfect for us. We had looked at the menu online and just knew we'd both be satisfied. The dining area was full, the music was loud ... but, we were able to converse ... not usual, these days. Our server introduced herself right away, filled our water glasses, left a large bottle of water and took our orders. Our beverages came right out. My Shorty Margarita ($8.00) was icy cold and delicious. Prepared with El Jimador Reposado, agave nectar, orange and fresh squeezed lime, it was refreshing and a perfect choice on this hot day. Hub went simple with a can of Corona ($4.00). Within minutes, a big bowl of Stew's Chili ($9.00) arrived ... warm enough and very chunky with lots of brisket and short rib, sautéed onions, peppers, stewed tomatoes and beans, topped with cheddar and thin strips of jalapeño. It was served with saltines which seemed to be an afterthought. Nicely seasoned, it was delish and a winner. Heavy's does a great job with its smash burgers and though basic, the Barburger ($12.49) was quite satisfying. It's prepared with two patties, American cheese, tomato, lettuce, red onion, pickles and Heavy's sauce. The bun is large and seeded. Joe passed on a side since devouring just about the whole bowl of chili. A return visit will definitely include an order of sweet potato fries or onion rings. I kid you not when I say The Company Salad ($14.49) is one of the best dinner salads I've had in twelve years of living here. It's huge, starting with roasted chicken that's chilled, chopped and tossed with fresh greens, avocado, diced tomatoes, toasted almonds, roasted corn, sweet dates, crumbled goat cheese and toasted croutons. I requested the house lemon vinaigrette to be served on the side. Every mouthful had multi flavors. Yes, this is your ultimate dinner salad. We passed on dessert; however, the Triple H Pie (heavenly heath bar ice cream in a house made Oreo crust) is calling my name so I see a return visit in the near future. Go ... you'll love it!

Yelp
Awesome burgers, chicken wings, fries and cocktails! The service is great and the ambiance. A must try!

Yelp
I never write reviews but honestly the uncleanliness of the staff has to be addressed. Heavy's is right near where we live and we'd never been... We walked in on 10/13 at just shy of noon. One waitress smelled of STRONG body odor and breath smelled of rot. The other had sauce on BOTH her arms as she handed us our food. Gross??! They were nice girls but some things cannot be overlooked. We glanced over to the bar and that looked grimey as well. Charleston must be on DHECs list soon The burgers tasted like charcoal, but maybe that's my fault we never tried smash burgers before. Location is really great for downtown with having their own parking. Did make me a tad nervous with towing signs every where though. Will try the Daniel Island location, hopefully they're cleaner and more professional. Sorry Heavy's but you missed the mark with your morning bunch today
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
Located where the old tattooed moose was, Heavy's is serving up some wicked good burgers and draft beers. The burger was cooked perfectly. Juicy and tender beef with a thick slice of bacon. You can't go wrong here!
google avatar

Tracy M.

Yelp
Heavy's lived up to the hype!!! They were voted the best burger in Charleston. I had the Patty Melt, which was excellent. My girlfriend had the Fun Guy and she loved it. The sweet potato fries were good, but a little undercooked. I still would highly recommend Heavy's to anyone visiting Charleston. The staff was also very friendly.
google avatar

Kortnee C.

Yelp
This is the best burger I have had in a long time. The gluten free bun was so good! The staff is amazing! This was a great place to eat with children!

Stephanie M.

Yelp
The sandwiches/burgers come with additional expenses if you want fries, sweet potato fries, a salad or chili for an extra 4 or 5 dollars. Soft drinks are also an additional $4. This could add up quickly for a large group. The onion rings were good but not really needed with the amount of food you get. The portion sizes are large. The staff were friendly. The food was definitely fresh and not frozen. Every thing was hot and homemade. The chili was exceptional. These are smash burgers. The buns are sesame buns. Plenty of beer and cocktail options. Plenty of parking if you get here early.

Yelp
AMAZING burger! AMAZING chili! AMAZING service!! This is my first time at Heavy's and I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! Absolutely TRUE SMASH burger. I've had "smash burgers" At other places that were not smashed at all. Heavy's smashes their VERY UNIQUE blend of beef that is delicious! My side was the chili and it too was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Great draft selections, including my FAV Edmunds Oast Bound By Time. Service was FAST, FRIENDLY and PROFESSIONAL. From the hostess at the door to the bartender who served my food. BONUS! They have an OLD SKOOL sound system cranking classic ROCK!

Yelp
The salad is incredible, which is funny because I wouldn't normally go to a burger place for salad, but this one is outstanding. Honey mustard dressing and crunchy topping plus cool cucumber with crisp lettuce. Salad here is a 10 out of 10. Our waitress was also outstanding. She was so friendly and helpful. We were hungry, tired, and in a little bit of a hurry. She got us our food fast and checked in on us. Kid friendly and a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Service: 1 Me and my husbands first time here and everything was great besides the service.... We had to wipe our own table down...We had to ask for sauces multiple times and had two people waiting on us, so they got confused and thought the other waiter was taking care of it when in reality neither of them were. Then we got charged $4 for sauce. We only asked for 1 mayo and 1 heavy's sauce. We ended up getting 2 mayos and 2 heavys sauces (the onion rings came out with two sauces one of them being the heavy's sauce) so not sure why we were charged for 2. The girl with blonde hair and blue eyes (hard to differentiate because they all look the same) ended telling us our total with no receipt and took our cash and didn't give us a receipt. We were surprised because she never came back with the recipe it or our change. We didn't know what we were paying for and never got to see our ticket until after about 10 minutes after paying in cash, we asked our other male waiter 2 times for our receipt and change and a box and that took 10 minutes after paying. The restaurant was very loud and had little seating (4 low top tables) the rest was high tops/ bar area/ outdoor seating. Seating is first come first serve.

Yelp
Heavy's Barburger is a great local spot to grab a good sandwich/burger and a drink. I went with a small group of 4 people after work - seating was quick and easy and service was friendly and fast. I ordered the mahi sandwich on a gluten free bun with sweet potato fries; this was fantastic! Very happy they have gluten free options and the bun was great. The sweet potato fries were cooked well and had a good texture. My friend ordered the triple H pie for dessert, it's heath bar ice cream with an Oreo crust; the Oreo crust is not gluten free but I tried some of the heath bar ice cream and it was to die for. Overall I really enjoyed the meal and I definitely recommend it!

Yelp
I've been drooling over pics of Heavy's burgers for awhile now and am so happy we finally decided to stop in for lunch today. We arrived approximately twenty minutes after they opened and were able to grab a table right away. We both ordered Uncle Gene's Ranchero Burger and a side of fries. The food was out in a reasonable time and wowzers did these burgers look freaking awesome. Not only were they great looking, but they tasted sooooooo good. I honestly wish I'd ordered an extra one to bring home so I could've had one for dinner too. We will definitely be back and can't wait to share this place with friends and family!

Yelp
Excellent. We are visiting from Phoenix and had our fill of seafood. Looked on line and found Heavy's. I had the prime rib sandwich and it was perfection. I found they sou vide the meat first which makes it super tender. The Fun Guy burger as wonderful as well. Messy abd delicious! The ambiance is casual - nothing fancy - just my speed. Great service too. We will definitely come back when we're in town.

Yelp
I was expecting this burger spot to be fabulous, but it was just okay for me. It's in the former Tattooed Moose spot, which I had been to several years ago, so I was familiar with the area. I visited during a very late lunch, and it helped that this restaurant was very close. My colleague was not super impressed with his patty melt, but I thought the burger was decent. When they say smashed, they really mean it here as the edge of the patty sticks out very far from the bun on all sides. With a double patty, they say the burger is 1/2lb before cooking. I added the onion rings, which were good, but not $8 good. I also added a rum-based cocktail, and it was really good as it should be since it was around $13.

Yelp
So I gave this burger joint a try based on some positive reviews I saw on Yelp. I expected to like this place more than I did. The atmosphere is very unassuming and casual. That's fine. I like places that aren't pretentious. I ordered the Barburger with bacon, onion rings, and a cup of chili. Honestly, the burger, despite being quite large, was really just ok. No where near the best burger I've ever had or even in the top 10. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable either. The onions rings were decent....very large rings and crunchy. I'd probably rate them a 7 or 8. The chili was the best thing I had there. I'd rate it a 9. The burger was ironically the least impressive. I'd rate it a 5-6. Again, I really thought I'd like it more than I did. My server was also just okay. Not bad but not great either. She wasn't overly friendly so I'd rate the service mediocre. Would I go back? Probably not. So many other options to choose from in Charleston that serve up better eats IMO. I walked out of there with a $50 tab for one person so their prices are definitely on the higher side for the food that is being served.
